Hello! I am hoping you guys can help me! I think black mascara is a bit too harsh on me so am looking for a charcoal grey or cool dark brown mascara. (I am a Bright Winter, so in theory I should pull black off--but I also have hooded eyes and dark circles so the black just makes everything look smaller and more dark). I wear glasses, so it also needs to be volumising/tubing, not lengthening. Charcoal Grey or cool dark brown + tubing + drugstore seems to be an incredibly hard combination to google. Im heading down to the beach soon and as the title says, I’m looking for a good, solid waterproof, sweat proof mascara in brown or a black-brown. I’m a natural blonde with blonde lashes and black is just way too harsh on me. I will be swimming and I’m sure sweating. I’m also a face toucher so I need something with staying power :) For everyday wear, I use (and LOVE) Thrive tubing mascara in the Crystal (black-brown) color. please recommend me your favorite tubing mascaras that give you a lot of length and/or volume and come in a cool brown or black-brown color! Currently almost finished with my Elf Lash Xtndr and I like it ok, but I feel like it tends to clump my lashes together and I don't get a lot of either length or volume so I want to try something new now. I've seen L'Oreal Double Extend recommend frequently, but as far as I can tell it only comes in black, which is not my preference for everyday use 🥲 But I'm still considering it if it's great in every aspect aside from color. I have a lot of lash hairs but they're very fine, and just average length, if that's helpful context. I'm super muted and have come to accept brown pigments are better than black. As a greasy gal, this has severely limited me because its hard to find a product that lasts and comes in brown. Enter: Too faced better than sex liquid liner. I recently applied this the night BEFORE work, and it was absolutely flawless for most of the next day. I've tried so sooooo many liners from cream, liquid, to felt and this is by far the longest lasting one and happens to be in a really great shade. It's winter so that helps it stay, but I'd imagine adding primer would make it work just as well in the summer. 10/10 impressed with the longevity and the application. As a bonus I also found a brown holy grail mascara recently for 13 dollars! Called Heimish on Amazon, and it's the curling formula. I can only use tubing mascara because of how oily and deep set my eyes are. Used to use the loreal tubing double extend but they only had it in black and it flaked way more compared to this one. So here are my two HG long lasting brown eyemakeup rec's! I love tubing mascara, and for the most part it's the only type I use. I'm a fan of the Tartelette tubing mascara as well as the Hourglass Unlocked mascara, but I'm telling you, the Tube Job mascara performs really well, I tried the Brunette shade today and it was a true dark brown in color. It's a "wet" mascara that goes on super well and definitely augments the lashes - as promised. It didn't smudge or clump and my lashes were really long and each lash was defined - top and bottom. It washed off with ease. No pulling on the lashes or rubbing needed. Tomorrow, I'll be trying the Taupe shade - a dark blonde taupe in color. Looks gorgeous in the tube. Asked for help finding the new Urban Decay mascara, Tube Job, in store yesterday after I personally checked the prestige side and didn’t see it. I was told the store didn’t have it. Decided to ask the manager who was at the BOPIS counter. She was pretty curt and condescending. She said it was new and they didn’t have it, but “she would look” and took off. A minute or so later, she returned from the back with the product and informed me it was the only one in the store. The mascara comes in 5 shades and she presented me with one unit in brown and immediately walked away. I wasn’t interested in that color so I walked to the counter to give it to someone and what do I see? A rather large display of the new Urban Decay mascara with the eyeliner too - the product that I was told was not in store, right in front of the registers. I get it. It’s Christmas time. Since I turned 40 last year I have been experimenting a lot more with makeup to highlight my natural features and give myself a little extra oomph. It’s been really fun because since my 20s, when I lost interest in makeup, the array of products and resources have evolved and expanded so much. I’ve fallen through the Morphe rabbit hole in Ulta and purchased some new products, for me, since neither are available in my country. I have very short and light eyelashes. It’s a very light brown/sandy blonde. I was using L’oreals Mascara for years and although I did love them, I never really had the idea that tube mascara would do much. I was so so wrong. I was on Thrive cosmetics website and I was willing to buy it, but it was $26. That’s too much money, so I searched and found a dupe by Milani Tube Mascara and I felt so robbed of my early years of doing makeup!!! I love doing a basic eyeliner with good lashes and this leveled them up 100x Maybe it’s just me, but I’m never going back. Oh and the best part? It’s not messy to take off whatsoever! I’m so frustrated. EVERY single tubing mascara that I’ve tried flakes badly and smudges constantly. Isn’t it supposed to be the “foolproof” mascara in a sense for these exact reasons? Plus I never find it comes off easier than regular mascara. I’ve tried all the supposedly “good” brands and a few others and they all do this. On a positive note though, the only mascara I’ve found that absolutely does not smudge or flake on me is the Bobbi Brown No Smudge Mascara. I’ve been on the hunt for a brown mascara lately. I see this come up a lot on various makeup subs (especially r/glossier) so I think I’m not the only one. My eyelashes are quite blonde, and I find black mascara to sometimes look too high-contrast on me. Particularly when I’m doing a more minimal, natural look. Recently I went through every single mascara display at my local drugstore to see if I could find a true brown mascara. Amongst all the black, midnight black, blackest black, black-brown (still too black), disco black, etc. I keep seeing burgundy mascaras everywhere. It seemed pretty unusual, but almost every brand in the drugstore (and a bunch at Sephora too) seem to carry at least one burgundy mascara. So I bought one to try it out. Turns out, it’s actually pretty natural looking on me! Not quite a brown, but maybe the next best thing? It doesn’t look as red as a feared it would. Have any of you used a burgundy mascara?
