Best HDMI/DP to USB-C for Luma Glasses
Hello everyone! I recently bought the Viture Luma Cyberpunk Glasses, and though my Microsoft Surface Pro and ASUS ROG Ally have compatible USB-C Ports, my main Desktop PC does not, and that's what I really wanted to game on with full graphics. I tried buying the official HDMI XR adapter but it's incompatible with Lumas unless you upgrade the firmware using an Apple device. I unfortunately do not own Apple devices, and ended up getting the HDMI XR adapter refunded. Even if I would borrow a device from friends or family, it would only work if I had a second lightning to HDMI + Lightning adapter. Does anyone know if there are any 3rd party HDMI or DP to USB-C adapters that will work with the Luma Cybers? Thanks! Addendum: I ended up trying a PSVR2 adapter as recommended in the replies, and it works like a charm! Even the Spacewalker app is compatible. I got a 3rd party adapter so I'm not sure if the official Sony one works. submitted by /u/HyruleKnight77 to r/VITURE [link] [comments]

What can a HDMI to USB adapter be used for?
I bought this by accident but I want to know what I can do with it. I make YouTube videos about video games and movies/tv and I'd like to get the most out of money I've wasted. Thank you in advance. submitted by /u/Lloyd_Name_ to r/computers [link] [comments]

TrueSpec DP and HDMI
I won't say they're happening for sure and I DEFINITELY can't commit to a timeline... but I did come across this is the engineering dept... Second photo is with a TrueSpec USB-C cable for scale. IF this happens, they will be significantly stiffer than our USB cables due to the way the internals need to be constructed, but for cables that will generally be in fixed-position installs I don't see that as a deal-breaker. We replace all laptops with Framework laptops - A one year review
TL:DR Total Framework Device Count: 73 Equipment / Company layout: Our dock of choice is the Dell WD19DCS 240W, a few old WD19S 180W remains. All our laptop waving staff have 3 monitors - 1x 3440x1440, 2x 2560x1440. Base laptop is Framework 13, AMD 7640U, 64 GB RAM - Some have rounded displays, others not (User choice). About 25x Ryzen AI 7 350 systems. A few Framework 16, like 5. All DIY and assembled by our staff. (We're a ~100 people IT company and have 5 full time IT Staff, 2 are dedicated to support / day2day operations. All staff work from the same HQ, or home. 2 offsite satellites with 1 person on each site only, both within ~30-60 minutes car ride. (So, easy to support) Short story at the bottom will probably be enough for most people, but full story below for those interested. I'm garbage at writing long texts in good formats so bear with me. Background: A little over a year ago, we were in a position where the laptops that had been emergency bought and shuffled out for COVID-19 was starting to show their age, mainly because RAM was only 32 GB. ASUS Zenbooks (UM425 something). Very happy with them, users loved them, they ran great. But with a Java-based monster of an ERP and the continuous growing of RAM hungry browsers, lack of memory was starting to become a problem. During the years we've had a few laptops die of natural causes. Kids spilling chocolate milk over mom's system, dropped laptops getting smashed screens and what not and the lack of repair parts from ASUS, or the inability to do so due to some things being irreplaceable was a pet peave of mine. Even in previous jobs with Dell, I've been annoyed that small broken things, like a WiFi/BT Chip end up having to replace entire motherboard and so on so fourth, so when I was first introduced to Framework (Actually thanks to Linus Tech Tips of all places) it peaked my interest. The idea and execution I quickly bought one for myself, because I normally don't use a laptop and I keep it in my bag that I carry everywhere so laptops have a short lifespan, I am not careful with my bag and they usually last a year before they're broken. After half a year or so of running, and the 32 GB becoming a problem, I brought it up with my boss who is a very sound individual and directly so the benefit of repairability, and we launched a test fleet on 15 laptops. Timeline wise we're now at late spring / early summer 2024. It went extremely well. The users loved being able to swap USB-C / USB-A primarily when docking, especially sales people who visit all kinds of places with various setups of AV Equipment for meetings etc. So we pulled the trigger late 2024. By january 31st 2025 we had rolled all devices to Framework 13's (A few of the staff got Framework 16's mainly due to larger screens, but they're HUGE and bulky, you've been warned). The result & TL;DR: It's gone amazingly overall and I am super happy about my decision, but not without a small warning. The Good: Users like the build quality, especially the keyboard is a big hit. Very few users swap modules, most are fine with the 2x USB-C, 1x USB-A, 1x HDMI layout. They hold up well (BUT - We're only 1.5 years in for the oldest one, so YMMV) Assemble is super quick. Frameworks support is satisfactory and quick. (We've had to use it quite a lot, see below) The Bad: We've had 6 laptops that we've replaced parts in. That's a failure rate of 8% and something to take into account. Most common is the built in webcam / microphone - 4 of those so far. They either don't work at all, or they work when the laptop lid is almost closed - bad ribbon cable in all cases, replaced cable -> No more problems. One came with a dead line across the screen. One had a dead WiFi Chip. Purchases of all these laptops were spread out across days / weeks / months. We've seen webcam/mic ribbon cable failures from the first ones we bought, to the last. In all cases, Framework support has been quick about sending us replacement parts, all though we've stocked up some ahead of time, and use the replacement to refill inventory. Final thoughts: I overall warmly recommend Framework based on this. The mission / cause is a BIG thing. Many times being able to upgrade RAM or even CPU (Motherboard) but keeping the rest of a system is a totally suitable route, and less e-waste I think is something we all can get behind. I have the luxury of having 2 fantastic colleagues who assemble and handle support, and the failure rate is maybe not a cause for concern, but for caution. If I was to roll thousands of devices, on multiple offices or even countries and thus limited hands on support? I'd probably hold off and let other SMB's like myself gather some more data. Disclaimer in these fake post times - I quite frequently wipe my comment history because I am pretty good at half doxxing myself sometimes, so if a moderator wants to do some sort of ID Check to prove I am not a Framework employee - Feel free to DM. I hope that helps anyone. Feel free to ask questions. *EDIT: Didn't expect this to blow up quite as much, and it's 00:57 in Sweden (00:57 UTC) so I gotta sleep. I'll respond tomorrow if someone has more questions.) submitted by /u/fadingcross to r/sysadmin [link] [comments]

🎮 [Final Build] Fully functional & stable Portable PS4 Slim 🔥
Hi everyone, I wanted to share with you the final result of my portable PS4 project. After months of work, testing, and redesign, the console is now stable, fully functional, and safe to use. 🔧 Project details • 🧠 Miniaturized PS4 Slim motherboard The original motherboard was carefully studied, then cut and modified to make it as compact as possible, while keeping full functionality. The goal was not only size reduction, but also better power efficiency and thermal behavior by optimizing the layout and removing unused sections. • ❄️ Redesigned cooling system Optimized airflow and heatsinks with active temperature management to properly handle the PS4 APU under load. • 🤖 Integrated ESP32 microcontroller (custom firmware) Used for: • Real-time temperature monitoring • Safety management (thermal thresholds, emergency shutdown) • Power consumption monitoring • Battery charging supervision • 🖥️ 7-inch OLED display – 1080p (16:9) High image quality, excellent contrast, and low latency. • 📺 HDMI output Allows the console to be connected to an external TV like a standard PS4. • 🔋 Battery system & autonomy • 6× 21700 cells – 6000 mAh each (3S2P configuration) • Approximate energy: ~130 Wh Estimated runtime: • 🎮 Low / medium load (~4 A) → ~44 W consumption → ≈ 2.7–3 hours of gameplay • 🔥 High load / demanding games (~8 A) → ~88 W consumption → ≈ 1.3–1.5 hours (System performs a safe shutdown at ~10 V to protect the battery.) Connectivity • HDMI (external display output) • 3× USB-C ports: • 1× ESP32 configuration & programming • 1× Console charging • 1× Direct connection to PS4 (controller / external HDD) • 1× USB 3.0 (controller / external HDD) • Dedicated port for playing while plugged into AC power 🧩 Enclosure & mechanical design • Custom-designed enclosure, optimized to be as small and compact as possible • 3D printed in ABS for improved heat resistance and durability • Designed around airflow, ergonomics, and serviceability This project is not for sale and not intended for mass production — it’s a personal engineering challenge, driven by curiosity and passion. I’d really appreciate your thoughts, feedback, or technical suggestions. Thanks for taking the time to check it out 🙏 submitted by /u/wewillmakeitnow to r/Handhelds [link] [comments]

HUB USB-C working on PS5 / XBOX?
Hi, I'm planning to buy my first pair of glasses and have decided on the AIR 4S PRO. I found a seller offering a USB-C hub as a gift, but the information I found is conflicting. I'd like to know if this hub has an HDMI input? Can I connect my PS5/Xbox, etc., to it using a USB-C to HDMI cable? If so, which cable do you recommend? submitted by /u/Springes to r/RayNeo [link] [comments]

Why can’t all ports be standardized to USB-C when new electronics come out over time?
The latest USB-C specification (USB4) includes Power Delivery of up to 240 watts and data transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps. USB-C can also completely replace display ports and HDMI connections. So why do we still have so many different ports? Now, I can understand about the 3.5mm and 3.5mm balanced audio jacks for higher quality analogue audio, but everything else can be done effortlessly VIA USB-C (USB 4.0 standard) submitted by /u/Seaguard5 to r/AskTechnology [link] [comments]

Why does the Pi 5 have two HDMI outputs when a USB C port would have been more useful?
I like the Pi 5 but I really wish it had an extra USB C port. I can't connect my headphones because they're USB C. And the one port that does exist is exclusively for power. Meanwhile I don't understand why two HDMI ports were needed. How many people actually use both HDMI ports on the Pi 5? If one of them were USB 3.2 then you could connect it to a hub and then connect an extra display through that (cuz USB 3.2 can do display port), completely eliminating the need for the extra HDMI slot. Was this functionality just not feasible to fit on the board? submitted by /u/Orangutanion to r/raspberry_pi [link] [comments]

ELI5 Why did audio jack never change through the years when all other cables for consumer electronics changed a lot?
Bought new expensive headphones and it came with same cable as most basic stuff from 20 years ago Meanwhile all other cables changes. Had vga and dvi and the 3 color a/v cables. Now it’s all hdmi. Old mice and keyboards cables had special variants too that I don’t know the name of until changing to usb and then going through 3 variants of usb. Charging went through similar stuff, with non standard every manufacturer different stuff until usb came along and then finally usb type c standardization. Soundbars had a phase with optical cables before hdmi arc. But for headphones, it’s been same cable for decades. Why? submitted by /u/AwkwardWillow5159 to r/explainlikeimfive [link] [comments]

The struggle was real
I remember with my first computer, an Apple IIc (that I still have), that to hook it up to the Brother Daisy wheel printer, the store had to build a cable for it to work. Man that printer was loud. My older brother who was in college at that time said professors would not accept papers printed in dot matrix and to get the Daisy wheel for a typed style. I did later get the Imagewriter printer so I could print images and banners of course. submitted by /u/boybrian to r/GenX [link] [comments]

Found this board in a thrift shop, it reads nvidia on the side. What is it exactly? Has 2 USB-C ports and an HDMI input so it must be relatively recent. It's also bolted to a really heavy heatsink that seems to screw horizontally to a missing piece.

PSA: You can bypass screen mirroring blocks from Disney+, Netflix, etc. by using a USB-C docking station with an HDMI port on an iPhone 15
I’ve noticed some people posting about screen mirroring being blocked when connecting to a usb-c enabled monitor, or using AirPlay. You can bypass this with a USB-c docking station that has an HDMI port. Since the connection is to the dock and not directly to the screen, it simply thinks you are plugging an accessory in and does not block any of the streaming options like it would with a direct connection. I have been watching Netflix shows using this method for the last month since I purchased an Anker docking station on Amazon for $20. Hope that helps some people out. submitted by /u/Never_enough_Dolf to r/iphone [link] [comments]

The Belkin USB-C to HDMI adapter F2CU038, sold exclusively through Apple, is utter trash. Buy something else. Detailed analysis inside.
A visual demonstration of the problem: https://imgur.com/gallery/n8RscVy Someone on another subreddit was recently complaining about the Belkin USB-C to HDMI adapter, a particular model that is sold exclusively via the Apple Store. I happened to have three USB-C to HDMI adapters. The first two came from work; the other one I bought for myself: Apple Digital AV multi-adapter - link, $69.99 Belkin USB-C to HDMI - link, $49.99 UNI Accessories USB-C to HDMI - link, $22.99 When I used the Belkin adapter in the past, I noticed that some parts of the screen just looked a bit off. It was like I was looking at the picture through a poor camera lens: there were strange chromatic aberrations, especially around high-contrast edges and text. When I plugged in the Uni adapter, the colors looked fine and everything was tack sharp. I thought -- what the heck, let's see if I can't objectively and empirically illustrate why it's so bad. So, I switched back to the Belkin adapter and tried to take some close-up pictures with my phone, but they didn't help. Then I remembered the LCD Test pages at http://lagom.nl/lcd-test, and the problem became clear right away. TL;DR: do not buy the Belkin adapter from the Apple Store. It is utter trash and will make you question what you're seeing on screen. Use the Apple Digital AV adapter, or get the Uni brand. If you do buy something else, test it with the LCD Test pages above and return it as 'defective' if the pictures on your screen do not resemble the reference images on a known good monitor. EDIT - since a few people mentioned "Chroma Subsampling" in the comments, I dove into this with the Belkin adapter. RTINGS.com and MadShi.net both have subsampling patterns designed to reveal whether your display is subsampling the chroma (color) values. Examples of both patterns are found in this Reddit post. In the case of the Belkin, it became clear that the device uses 4:2:2 subsampling. See photos and video clips here. submitted by /u/eaglebtc to r/apple [link] [comments]

Can I go from HDMI to USB C and not the other way?
I have a laptop with an HDMI port and a lepow monitor with USB c input, mini HDMI input, and a USB c power port. I have connected my phone to the monitor with a USB c cable and it works fine. The monitor's mini HDMI port no longer works, and my laptop can't output over USB C, so I can't connect my monitor. I want an adapter to convert the HDMI output from my laptop into USB c so I can just plug it in. Everything on Amazon is USB c to HDMI, which is the opposite of what I want. Does this adapter even exist? submitted by /u/computer-genius to r/UsbCHardware [link] [comments]
