Go get a colonoscopy, colon cancer for our generation is a real threat!
36M here, have always been active and maintained a decently healthy diet my whole life. Well after seeing multiple posts on here and at my gf’s urging I had one done. They found two polyps (15mm and 4mm). Doc said if I waited till 45 I’d prob be dead. Crazy part is I had no symptoms and my recent blood work last month was perfect. I was in and out in three hours and no pain or discomfort afterwards. submitted by /u/intro195 to r/Millennials [link] [comments]

Have you guys noticed that younger gens are relying too much on AI?
I’m a 95’ millennial, so I’m old enough to remember the late 90’s and young enough to say I grew up with a lot of Gen Z. I know the generational divide is just a social construct, but it’s looking like it’s actually starting to define an era in which humans truly start to behave differently. My wife, Gen Z, goes to community college online. Every assignment she does she uses AI to provide answers. I used to harp on her about it and say things like “Don’t you actually want to know the material? Do you get no satisfaction from learning things on your own by doing actual research?” She then says that it doesn’t matter and that it’s easier to use AI. My little cousin who’s in middle school right now confidently claims to know the answer to anything with little to no experience in the subject. Yesterday I was asking my family about how to keep goats; specifically, how to keep goats from escaping an enclosure. My little cousin says “you can’t keep a goat chained to a tree it might knock the tree down asks ChatGPT a goat can head butt with around 800lbs of force”. I was thinking to myself “What goat will knock down a mature tree?”. He said that with so much confidence that it sounded so believable. I’m also in a medical research group focused on understanding and treating follicular occlusion derived diseases. So many members (most just in their 20’s) in this group keep quoting Perplexity and ChatGPT instead of just quoting directly from whatever research paper they read or whatever the primary source is. I have developed an effective treatment for Dissecting Cellulitis using what I learned from peer reviewed studies and research papers, but many people don’t believe in it’s efficacy because whatever AI tool they’re using doesn’t confirm that it could be an effective treatment. They keep saying things like “I ran that through Perplexity and it says that’s not a good treatment because XYZ”. Dissecting Cellulitis is a disease with scarce research and the known treatments are not very effective, so AI models trained with those datasets will always claim that every treatment not found inside the dataset is ineffective. There’s too many examples I can give, but in general I think we’re cooked. submitted by /u/TradeU4Whopper to r/Millennials [link] [comments]

Redit has become the WEBMD for Feds
I get it. We are all uneasy about what is going on. I jave spent a STUPID amount of time scouring through socials to get onfo faster. It was not intil i pourd my coffee this morning that i came to the conclusion that Redit is equivalent to WEBMD for feds right now. No matter how you slice it your unsafe and likewise going to get fired. Just like WEBMD.. you have a paper cut? Well sucks because it will get infected and that infection will spread and you will die. Im all about tracking what is going on in the federal space. I worry about my job and the jobs of my staff. But the cost of that over the last few weeks has been paid by my personal life. Take time to consciously and intentionally unplug. Go do things you enjoy. Find joy in the ones you care about and spend time with them.Do not give elmo and mango the satisfaction of your fear. Things may get worse but if you are in a healthier state of mind you will be more prepared to navigate that. Dont die of a papercut. submitted by /u/FltLnRid3 to r/fednews [link] [comments]

If you put any period symptom on WebMd followed by a symptom with pain, one of your results will be somatic symptom disorder. This is why our pain is minimalized. I tried first with 20 symptoms. then with 6. Then 2. Then 1. Everyone try it.
Loaded up a bunch of vagina symptoms at first. Then it said somatic symptom disorder close to the top. Did 6 the next time, still said it. Did 2 the next time, still said it. I thought that was weird how every time I added "pain" somatic symptom disorder showed up. You know, being "hysterical" I hit "painful periods" as just one option, and it still said it down the list. bruh EDIT: Tried to post but it got removed? https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoXChromosomes/comments/151je28/the_history_of_somatic_symptom_disorder_aka/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1 edit: link submitted by /u/ScruffyTheRat to r/TwoXChromosomes [link] [comments]

[Medina] Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to receive COVID-19 vaccine as part of NBA efforts to promote vaccination. Abdul-Jabbar, 73, was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia 11 years ago. He revealed in a recent article for WebMD that he has also had prostate cancer and heart bypass surgery.
Source "For myself and my family, I am going to take the COVID-19 vaccine," former Los Angeles Lakers star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said in an NBA-sanctioned PSA. "To learn more about the vaccines, go to CDC.gov. Let’s do this together." NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has stressed the league "won’t jump the line in any form whatsoever" to receive the vaccine. The CDC has listed frontline workers, the elderly and those with underlying conditions as bigger priorities to receive the vaccine. It also remains unclear if the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association will make it either mandatory or voluntary for players. Abdul-Jabbar, 73, was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia 11 years ago. He revealed in a recent article for WebMD that he has also had prostate cancer and heart bypass surgery. Abdul-Jabbar told USA TODAY Sports last year that the treatment for leukemia is "an ongoing thing." submitted by /u/GuyCarbonneauGOAT to r/nba [link] [comments]

TIFU by consulting WebMD before my SO, a doctor.
I was dropping a deuce in the bathroom while browsing Reddit. Judging by the red circles forming on my knees, I knew I was in there too long. Time to wipe. But of course, as we all like to admire the work we’ve done in the bowl, I first examine my masterpiece (the poop, not my dick). Oh, this is new: the lemonade and my massive heap of shit are all red. Hemorrhoids? Nah, can’t be; my shit came out like fresh toothpaste. Still, blood? Maybe. So naturally, I google my ass (no pun intended) into WebMD. Kidney disease? Cancer? Ok, don’t panic just yet; do I have any other symptoms? Trouble sleeping? Unexplained weight loss? Etc. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck, etc. At this point I’m convinced I have late-stage cancer. My life flashes before my eyes, and my mind starts racing: I haven’t told my parents that I love them in a while, I’m never going to reach my career goals, I was a total piece of shit to the guy who cut me off the other day, I didn’t get to eat my leftover meatloaf, “Ma! The meatloaf!”, Lol wedding crashers was a good movie, wait fuck! I have cancer! My life was good, but it could have been better; so many regerts. My eyes start to water, and then, it snowballs. I end up weeping like a banshee on the toilet, a grown-ass man with his pants around his hairy ankles (what a sight). My SO, a doctor, storms into the bathroom, “Wtf? Are you okay?” I reply, “I...I...I think I have cancer; my urine and/or stool are red with blood.” She pauses for a sec and then bursts out laughing: “Do you remember what we had for dinner?” I’m annoyed at the unexpected lack of sympathy, “What the hell is so funny, and why the fuck does that matter?” Beets. We had beets. Apparently, some people can’t break down the pigment, and it makes us shit out Kill Bill Vol 1. Who knew? Beets me! TL;DR - First, I shit in the toilet; it was red. Then, I shit my pants; it was sad. Then, my SO shit on me; it was rad. [EDIT] Thank you for my first gold! You know who you are. You popped my cherry. Cheers to more things that are red! Thank you for my first onslaught of awards! I know the points don’t matter, but you made the meatlo...Ma! The meatloaf! Fuck!..the meatloaf taste better. Thank you all for your love and support, sharing your empathizing stories! To everyone who has consumed beets, hot Cheetos, red velvet cake, fruit loops, or slushees, let’s go shit a rainbow together! Maybe, we’ll find a pot of Reddit gold. submitted by /u/MyDogmaAteMyKarma to r/tifu [link] [comments]
