I’ve got an odd question about hair and hope someone can answer. If your hair starts falling out, due to chemotherapy, where do you go to get a wig. Would it be a hairdresser or are there specialists that you would go to? I’m trying to help a friend out but it’s difficult, it’s not something I ever had to know when I lived in France. I’d really appreciate any help!

As I mention in the video, I have bought an expensive wig once and won't ever do it again. Unless you are fantastic at shampooing them, drying, and combing/recurling it to make it have natural curls again, I don't recommend it 😊 If you have that kind of money to where you can afford a $500-$1000 dollar wig, you are better off buying a few 40 dollar wigs over the course of a few years. When it starts to look trashy and messy, toss it and grab a new one. There are youtube videos that show how to wash and take care of synthetic wigs. No matter what I do, I can never get them to look fully restored. Plus, wig shampoos also cost money as well. I personally prefer to after about 5-6 months just toss it, and open a fresh one. If you do that math, that's about $80 on wigs per year. I use mine a lot, so you might only go through 1 wig per year.That means it would take you 10+ years to reach the cost of a low end human hair wig. Some human hairs can go as high as $2000 to $5000. Hanging your wig up on a wig stand will SIGNIFICANTLY prolong it's life. I used to just throw my wigs into a storage tub and by the next time you pull it out, there are split hairs, lost curls, and lots of knots. I have found that hanging them up easily doubles or triples the lifespan. 😊 That is all I have for you in this episode! So I wore a wig for the first time in public (it’s Jon Renau’s Karlie in shaded peach) yesterday and today for a funeral on my husband’s side of the family. I found out afterwards that my mother-in-law asked my husband if I was wearing a wig. (With good intentions. But. Knowing she guessed so quickly is a bit of a stab to the heart.) Admittedly I wasn’t super careful. The person who styled my wig for me showed me that although she’s white like me, she wears a brown wig cap/grip thing. I assumed that was to match the dark hair of the wig, so I thought, “Oh, then maybe I should just skip the wig cap so my dark auburn hair is all that shows?” So that’s what I did. Now I feel this panic and pressure—“every time I see my in laws now, I need to wear the wig, otherwise it’ll be way too obvious I was wearing a wig, but apparently it’s already obvious—“ Maybe it was all the hugs and my head feeling lumpy that gave me away. Maybe the hair was too shiny? Maybe I should have put concealer on the part in case the knots looked dark further back on my head? Maybe it was the ear tabs being chunky? I'm (37f) a white woman, out of my depth on this topic, and too scared to ask anyone who is African American face-to-face. My son's (14m) first girlfriend is an African American girl (13f), who we'll call Nina. Usually, when I see her, she's a bubbly social butterfly. She smiles a lot and is very talkative. Recently, I noticed Nina seeming less confident the times I see her. Her change in demeanor was the most noticeable change but I also noticed the recent lack of wig, makeup, and jewelry. I didn't even realize the two things were connected. One day, I was to drive them to a party. My son was upstairs and Nina was downstairs. She looked like she was dreading going to this party, and I asked her what's wrong. She said she doesn't feel pretty. I asked her why and she said she's still getting used to showing her natural hair. I asked her if she feels uncomfortable showing her hair, why is she doing it. She said my son thinks she looks cooler this way. I told her I used to do things just to impress boys when I was her age. I told her she can wear a wig even if my son doesn't want her to. Days later, I've never seen my son more angry with me than that day. He said I'm a white woman and I shouldn't be advising a black girl how to look. He said called me an overhearing mom and a Karen. Hey y’all , Looking for recommendations for wigs. I have never worn a good wig in my life lol. It’s a combination of me not knowing how to style/install them and always having the unfortunate luck of buying low quality wigs (I always get scammed). Attending a wedding in a few days and looking to try something new and feel pretty. I always wear black wigs but I was thinking of a little color this time, something like honey chestnut. Do you have any recommendations for good quality wigs? Preferably pre-plucked with bleach knots (only because every time I try to do it myself, it’s a disaster) I’m dropping some photos below of an instagrammer that i follow that always slays her wigs…but no matter how many times I, or anyone else, ask her, she refuses to drop her source.
