I have mixed feelings about wireless phone chargers and I am curious how other people feel about them. On one hand they look convenient. You just place your phone down and it starts charging. There is something satisfying about not dealing with cables every time the battery is low. At the same time I have always felt like wireless phone chargers are a bit slow and slightly unreliable. One slight shift and it stops charging. I used to have a wireless charger built into a car dock and it was neat for a while. Eventually the charger stopped working and I never bothered replacing it. A simple cable hanging from the dash ended up being easier to deal with. Another thing I noticed is that many wireless phone chargers tend to heat up. Not dangerously hot, but warm enough that I notice it when I pick the phone up. Recently, I came across wireless phone chargers on Amazon and Alibaba, and I’m surprised at how the designs keep getting more advanced. Still, I’m ten toes on the facts that they aren’t as practical. What are your thoughts? And what has your experience been with wireless phone chargers so far? My charging situation recently became a bit annoying. The USB port on my iPhone 12 stopped working properly, so plugging in a cable is not reliable anymore. Sometimes it charges and sometimes it does nothing, which makes overnight charging a little stressful. Because of that I started looking into wireless phone chargers as a possible solution. I have never really used them before since a cable always felt easier, but now I feel like I should give it a try. My main concern is speed and reliability. I know wireless phone chargers are usually slower than cables, but I would still like something that charges consistently without needing to reposition the phone every few minutes. When I started searching I noticed there are a huge number of options online. I saw a lot of MagSafe compatible wireless phone chargers on Amazon and Alibaba, and many of them look almost identical. That made it harder to figure out which ones are dependable. I sometimes envy how Apple has accessory brands fighting to make all these ecosystem-friendly tools for them. I was on a business trip with a colleague, and we shared a twin room. After we turned off the lights, we both played on our phones for a bit. Then, I saw him slap his iPhone onto a Magsafe charger and fall asleep right away. Meanwhile, I had to stretch and struggle to reach my charging cable. I casually asked him about his wireless charger the next morning, and he let me touch his iPhone. It was completely cool. But the wireless charger I bought before always got really hot while using. IDK, maybe I just didn’t buy a reliable product. If anyone here uses wireless chargers that works well on Android, let me know how it’s been for you!
