35 LPA fixed in Bangalore (Product Company) vs 26.5 LPA fixed Work From Home. What would you choose?
I'm currently working from home with a fixed CTC of 26.5 LPA. Recently, I received an offer from a product-based company in Bangalore with 35 LPA fixed. My current employer might match or increase my salary if I put in my resignation, but I already accepted a counteroffer about 1.5 years ago, and I don't want to stay again just because of another hike. A few things about me: 30 years old No dependents I save around ₹20k–30k per month after all my expenses, so my savings aren't huge. Note: I haven't considered my investments (₹40k per month) in this. I also have EMIs of around ₹1.2 lakh per month, along with car and bike fuel, maintenance, travel, and other regular expenses. (Getting many questions about how I'm saving only ₹20–30k, so I thought I'd add this.) The new role is in a reputed product-based company with better learning opportunities and career growth. The new role is in a reputed product-based company with better learning opportunities My dilemma is whether the 8.5 LPA jump is enough to justify relocating to Bangalore and giving up WFH. Considering Bangalore's rent, food, commute, and overall cost of living, would you take the product-company offer or stay in the current WFH job if the salary difference remains around this range? I'd especially like to hear from people who have made a similar switch from WFH to Bangalore. submitted by /u/AggravatingTooth8145 to r/developersIndia [link] [comments]

KSP1 likely has an upcoming update in the works & KSP1 and KSP2 are changing publisher; from Private Division to The Kerbal Company/KerbalCo LLC
It looks like that, since the 13th of March, 2026, an update for Kerbal Space Program (KSP, 2015) is in the works. Ever since that date, most days of the work-week, changes have been pushed to the Steam backend quite consistently. This might be occuring due to KSP and KSP2 seemingly having changed publishers. Since the 16th of April, Steam changes for KSP1 are pushed even at consistently the same time every work-day (11:29 UTC). From my experience with observing previous hidden patch development of other games, this suggests a build-bot pushing schedueled builds every work-day to the Steam backend in a hidden depot-branch for QA-testing. KSP2 shows no such consistent activity on the Steam backend at all (so far). For context: through SteamDB you can see some parts of what is happening in the backend of Steam for a game. ChangeNumber changes with no context doesn't say something per se (could be just usual backend maintenance), but if they happen often and at a consistent pace, it often indicates builds being pushed to a hidden private branch. Hence why these ChangeNumber changes show no context and with its consistent pace, I suspect an update being in the works. Private Division activated the "privatebranches" within the Steam backend previously to make all private depots/branches and changes to those invisible. Any changes to those would result thus result in blank ChangeNumber changes from then on (noticed on many many games myself as well that are being actively worked on vs. ones that are not). This likely supports my theory here. The update could be a maintenance patch, like containing a fix for the CVE-2025-59489 Unity vulnerability, which the game is vulnerable for due to it utilizing the vulnerable Unity v2019.4.18, while v2019.4.41f1 will patch this vulnerability (or replacing one of its DLL files with a Unity-provided fixed one). They could be kind of forced to do this by Valve to assure the game can be kept available on Steam safely. And/or maybe some general QoL improvements or bugfixes. Could also simply be to add the new publisher-entity to the credits and loading screens. Additionally, looking at the credits of KSP, all people listed there don't seem to work at Squad anymore since or before 2022. More confirmation that Squad as an entity might not be operational anymore and thus likely not responsible for this update at all. Star Theory (KSP maintainer after Squad) and Intercept Games (KSP2 devs formed from poached Star theory personnel) have both ceased to exist in 2020 and 2024 respectively. They simply cannot be responsible for this update then. GOG and Steam store pages of KSP1 still list PD as its sole publisher. Epic Games Store (EGS) lists "The Kerbal Company" (TKC) as the publisher though, where PD was its publisher still as early as February 19th, 2026 according to TheWayBackMachine. KSP2 EGS page now also lists TKC as its publisher. The PlayStation store page also now shows KerbalCo LLC (see paragraphs below) as its new publisher, but Xbox store page still shows PD as its publisher. EGS shows that TKC operates under the name "KerbalCo LLC" (registration: 41-3648173). Its adress, according to EGS, is "1370 N ST ANDREWS PLACE Suite B6, LOS ANGELES, California, United States 90028." This address seems to be part of The Preserve campus and is thus where the company is either housed or has its postal/legal/lawyer's address. "The Preserve is the ultimate home for companies in technology, media, entertainment, and other innovative industries," is what their site describes it as. Seems to thus be a big campus where a lot of companies can be housed. This feels like the same situation with PD's The Outer Worlds a few weeks back, which is now also transitioning from PD as a publisher to another publisher; Xbox Game Studios (XGS). With its naming, it feels like TKC was created with the sole purpose of managing KSP as a franchise in the future. Keep in mind, it could also be that The Kerbal Company is a spin-off from PD or just a subsidiary of PD. So, the change to TKC as publisher, doesn't mean that PD sold the IP. This address stated above is also where the company Fictions is housed. Private Division privacy policy indicates that PD likely became part of a company called "Fictions" or was renamed to it in June 2025. Information on this is a bit too unclear and contradictory to me to make solid conclusions. Fictions and KerbalCo LLC being housed at the same address though, makes it come over to me as if KerbalCo LLC might actually be a simple subsidiary of Fictions. The About Us page of Fictions states the following: "Fictions is a video game publisher and developer founded in 2025. At launch the company acquired the Private Division catalog while building a new slate of original projects." It thus seems like Fictions was created supposedly in June 2025 and absorbed PD and its IPs, including KSP. I couldn't find more details about this company sadly. If I do find more, I'll report it here of course. PD was the previous indie-label by Take-Two-Interactive and was sold of to "Haveli Investments" together with the IPs it managed (including KSP). Haveli is a private equity firm that made a deal with former Annapurna staff to distribute the games from then on, This happened in October, 2024. This is all according to a reliable Bloomberg article. As Haveli's own website indicates that they have Fictions in their portfolio, it seems like Fictions absorbed PD while both were under Haveli's portfolio. And that KerbalCo likely is a subsidiary of Fictions. Edit 1: I've seen concerns of users in the comments about a possible update possibly breaking mods. With the age of the game, if mods would need to be updated, mod-makers are likely not around to do that. If an update gets released that breaks some mods, I hope the developers are wise enough to at least provide people with a Steam beta branch so they can easily revert to the non-updated build to assure mod-compatibility. Then silly backing up of the install files or downloading the old Steam depot manually won't be needed. Edit 2: added a piece about KerbalCo possibly being a subsidiary of PD/Fictions. Edit 3, 21st of May: I'm a Dutch person and English is thus not my native language, so reviewed this post again today to fix up some wordings and spelling haha. Sorry, I'm only human. I would advice users to read this article again if they read it already in the hours after it was posted as quite some things were iterated upon after it was published! Edit 4, 21st of May: I've been able to get access to California company filings of KerbalCo LLC to confirm that KerbalCo is managed by Fictions and thus a subsidiary of Fictions since at least January 2026. These two companies even have the same CEO; Paul M. Hanson. They also have the exact same address. KerbalCo LLC is thus not the same as Private Division, but part of the company that absorbed Private Division! To be clear, the company structure looks as follows: Haveli Investments (bought Private Division from Take-Two-Interactive in 2024) > Fictions (absorbed Private Division last year) > KerbalCo LLC/The Kerbal Company (exists since January this year) Thanks to u/OscarRadagast for providing me a screenshot of the geo-locked California company filings of KerbalCo LLC so that I could access it from The Netherlands. Edit 5, 22th of May: I've added more context about privatebranches and why the blank ChangeNumber changes could indeed indicate actual patch development. Some people were doubting this being the case... I should have provided more context from the start. Am I wrong for putting in my 2weeks for my security job since I’m required to drive a new employee from work to home after every shift?
So basically I’m 4 months into my new security job full-time tactical guard. I do mobile patrol in a company vehicle every shift, I work 45 hours a week getting paid $18.00 an hour. I work 5-6 days a week from 7pm - 4am. Regular hours for me, I come into work 1 hour early to pick up vehicle since I live 35mins away. After doing pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the company vehicle I then drive back home which is 35mins, by the time I’m home it’s already 5:15am. (Sleep and repeat) Today a new guard started and now I’m required to drive him home after every shift since he doesn’t own a car. Reminder I don’t get paid to come in early and pick up the company vehicle and I don’t get paid dropping the new employee off at home. Now I come home around 5:50am 6:00am since I had to drop him off and go back to the office and drop off the vehicle. I’m upset that I have to do this and my manager told me it’s required. My manager has a hard time finding drivers for this assigned area which is a remote town located 40mims out of the city. I don’t get paid enough for this, I feel like putting in my 2 weeks if my manager doesn’t approve my request of not being required to drop the new guy off. submitted by /u/Kitchen_Shift9739 to r/WorkAdvice [link] [comments]

Ohio firm must pay $22.5 million to mom whose baby died after she was denied work-from-home
An Ohio-based company that initially balked at granting a mom's request to work from home during a high-risk pregnancy has been found liable for the newborn's death and ordered on Wednesday to pay $22.5 million in damages. Chelsea Walsh, according to her lawsuit, made the work-from-home request with Total Quality Logistics on Feb. 15, 2021, four days after undergoing an operation on her cervix to prevent her from going into early labor. Instead, the lawsuit states, “TQL presented Walsh with an impossible choice — work at the office and put additional strain on her child, or take an unpaid leave of absence and lose the income and health insurance she needed.” Walsh returned to the office on Feb. 22, 2021. Walsh, according to her lawsuit, gave birth to a daughter she named Magnolia on the evening of Feb. 24, 2021, the same day her manager at TQL told her the company "had reconsidered its decision to deny her requested accommodation" and allowed her to go home and continue working. "Magnolia had a heartbeat, was breathing, and exhibited fetal movement," the lawsuit states. "Magnolia was placed on Walsh’s chest so that Walsh could hold her. Magnolia died in Walsh’s arms approximately one hour and thirty minutes later." Walsh was between four and five months pregnant when she gave birth, the suit states. The jury in the wrongful death case ruled in her favor. “This is a heartbreaking outcome for a young family,” said one of Walsh's lawyers,. Matthew C. Metzger of Wolterman Law Office in Loveland, Ohio. “The evidence showed that Chelsea Walsh was following her doctors’ instructions for a high-risk pregnancy and simply asked to work from home." "The jury found that TQL’s denial of that reasonable request led to the death of her daughter,” he said. TQL spokesperson Julia Daugherty extended condolences to the Walsh family, but said the company disagrees with the verdict "and the way the facts were characterized at trial." "We are evaluating legal options and remain committed to supporting the health and well-being of our employees,” said Daugherty. Walsh was finally allowed to work from home after her husband, Joel Walsh, spoke about his wife’s plight with his company’s human resources manager, who is friends with a top executive at TQL, the suit states. That manager, who is not named in the lawsuit, notified the TQL executive about Walsh’s situation. “Thank you,” the TQL executive said, according to the lawsuit. “You just saved us a lawsuit.” submitted by /u/xO76A8pah4 to r/antiwork [link] [comments]

[AAM] my company is issuing new work-from-home standards because we should have the hang of it by now
I am not OOP. This was originally posted to Ask A Manager, the author of the website, Alison, has asked that we don't republish her words but can repost the letters sent in. I will include the link to the original posts so Alison's advice can be read there. Mood spoiler: frustrating but decent ending Original Post: my company is issuing new work-from-home standards because we should have the hang of it by now Posted October 14, 2020 I’m in a senior position at a mid-sized company that has been working from home since March, and would love your thoughts on something that was communicated to us in a leadership meeting this week. The C-level has decided to create new work-from-home standards that employees are expected to comply with, including a strict dress code for video calls, making sure that our backgrounds are neat and tidy while on camera, and a mandate to “eliminate distractions” (i.e., pets and kids/family members). Examples of “good” employee behavior included someone locking their dog in the bedroom during a meeting, and another seeking childcare from a relative across town. It isn’t clear what prompted this or how it will be enforced, but the rationale behind it was “now that we’ve been home for six months, you should be used to it, and making changes to make your home more of a professional space.” The part about distractions made me cringe. Our region opened and then mostly closed again, distance learning is in effect for all schools, and many people are sharing their work from home setup with other members of the household. I manage staff who live with multiple roommates, who have spouses and kids at home, and most do not have a dedicated office space in their house. (I myself have a large dog who mostly sleeps during the day, but occasionally likes to look out the window behind my desk. He would howl if I shut him in a room.) Compounding this, the company keeps telling us they want us to return to the office as soon as our region is off of the COVID watch list, and won’t give us any idea of how long we might be working from home. I have asked if there’s a date we won’t return before, so I can give staff some sense of “we will be working remotely at least until January 31st” or something along those lines, and they won’t give me one. They want staff back in office as soon as possible. I know you’ve given advice on how to communicate decisions you don’t agree with but I’m really struggling with this one. Making sure you are wearing something professional and that your background is tidy I can get on board with (and really, just put up a zoom background if you don’t want to clean), but the distraction one I disagree with and have no idea how to enforce. What are your thoughts on this? Update 1 (#2 at link) Posted December 30, 2020 (about two months later) The work from home standards have not been released yet – some of our leadership were caught up in some local drama, and I think it fell off the radar (for now). As many commenters pointed out, our leadership seems to be very out of touch with the regular worker. I was a new manager right as covid happened, so I don’t have strong relationships with my peers in leadership roles and didn’t feel comfortable talking to them. My peers all seemed supportive of the standards and somewhat annoyed they hadn’t already been implemented. I’ve been struggling with a few things at the company, like being told I rated my staff too highly on their annual evaluations (“while they may be performing highly, we want to motivate them to do better! Please lower their scores so they know they should work harder”), that I don’t work enough hours when I regularly work 60+ per week, and that I’m encouraged NOT to give my staff raises or bonuses unless they’ve been really exceptional performers – making a quick transition from working in office to wfh in the midst of a pandemic while consistently outperforming expectations apparently isn’t enough to justify a 1% raise. I really disagree with this and have pushed back. But it has fallen on deaf ears. A few commenters pointed out this is why it’s important to ask employers how they handled covid – and I honestly can’t say a lot of great things about mine. It’s disappointing because I really like the work itself, my team, and our organization’s mission. I definitely care more about this job than I have about any other job I’ve ever had – but at the end of the day it’s just a job. My employer expects it to be the #1 priority in my life and it’s just… not. I moved 500 miles to a city where I know no one on my own dime for this job -they would have pulled the offer if I hadn’t- and it feels like I’m constantly being reprimanded for not making appearances of working hard enough (like signing off after working 11 hours because I need to go to the grocery store or taking an hour to take my dog to the vet). I’m not ready to start looking yet, but I foresee doing so in the next year or so. I’ve no desire to burn out. Update 2 Posted November 11, 2021 (about 13 months from the first post, about 11 months from the update) While I don’t have a whole lot to report on the work from home standards (since they never implemented them), things at the company have taken an interesting turn. As many commenters pointed out, the company culture is super dysfunctional, though it was relatively easy to ignore that while we were working from home. We slowly started returning to the office around the same time as our area became a hotspot for the delta variant… and the C-suite decided it was “probably fine.” As a note, our organization was part of our county’s ancillary COVID response, so while we’re not medical professionals, it’s not like they didn’t understand what was going on. They just got tired of COVID getting in the way of business, I guess? My team was one of the last to go back and a whole slew of issues cropped up: unvaccinated people going around unmasked in the office, many COVID exposures resulting in illness (mostly of vaccinated people), safety measures ignored… the CEO started roaming the halls to keep track of who was actually working from the office (which I guess is the best use of his time?). A few weeks ago, we had a big meeting of all upper management in which the CEO and COO proceeded to berate everyone who worked from home during the pandemic at all. The gist of it was that work should have been more important to us than anything else, we should have been FIGHTING to come in despite the stay home orders, and essentially we have all been deemed low performers no matter how much extra work we took on to aid in the COVID response or how much revenue we brought in. It was also announced that there will be no work from home available for any employee barring VERY special circumstances that had to be personally approved by the CEO. They saw working from home as a vacation, and that we didn’t deserve flexibility because we were all lazy and “not dedicated enough.” I’m sure it will come as a surprise to no one reading this that five people (out of 75) quit within a week of this meeting, and I know of more who are job hunting. It’s clear that we will all always be seen as low performers and it’s starting to be reflected in tangible ways. For example, my department’s budget (and that of several other department heads whose teams worked from home during lockdown) got slashed for the next fiscal year and raises/bonuses frozen, but another employee who worked from the office during the pandemic — including violating our state’s stay home order — got a raise, promotion, and expanded budget. Also to note, as a manager who came onboard in late March 2020, all of the instructions I received from HR were to stay home and have my team stay home until further notice … which apparently I should have known was just to have the proper paper trail, but we still should have been coming into the office. I’m not really sure how they expected parents with kids home from school to come in, but it’s worth noting that our C-suite consists only of men with wives who don’t work, so I’m assuming they didn’t consider it at all. The good news is that some of the projects I’ve been in charge of have gained some positive publicity, and I’ve been getting contacted by recruiters fairly frequently over the past few months. Nothing has panned out yet, but the office culture has gotten so toxic recently that I’m now actively job hunting as well. I moved for this job and didn’t know anyone in this city at the time. I still don’t. I have been mostly isolated for the past 20 months and it has been awful. I did buy a house to flip which has been keeping me occupied, but this experience has caused me to re-evaluate whether I want my job to dictate where I live. I have decided I absolutely do not want it to and am only looking for 100% remote positions now. I will say that the few interviews I’ve had lately have been a very different experience than pre-pandemic, with hiring managers contacting me first, them trying HARD to convince me to work for them, and me being the one to turn them down. It makes me hopeful for the future. Update 3 Posted December 13, 2022 (a little more than two years from the first post, about thirteen months from the last update) I’m still with the company, but a number of things have changed since my last update. In January, a lot of things happened all at once. There was, of course, a mass exodus of employees. Once they started seeing multiple resignations a week, my boss (one of the few VPs who stayed, who is also a single parent) decided that the teams they oversee would only be going back to the office one day a week, period. I have no idea what their conversation was like with the CEO, but we have been in the office one day a week since. Also in January, I was injured in a ski accident, which paused my job search (I’m fully recovered now). For all its faults, my company has great health insurance and generous sick leave, so I was able to take off all the time I needed to recover and go to my various follow up appointments. I also started traveling more (for both work and pleasure) for the first time since Covid and that really helped my mental health. I thought I would be updating you with a laundry list of ridiculous things that have happened over the past year (and believe me, there have been a LOT of ridiculous things going on), but once it was settled that we were going back only one day a week, I completely disengaged from any office drama. There were committees I could have served on and meetings I could have gone to about “improving company culture”, which so far have made no measurable impact, but I realized that, while a lot of crazy things were being said and done, they weren’t really affecting me or my staff. It was clear that the company wasn’t going to change significantly, but there was nothing targeting my department specifically. In fact, we kind of flew under the radar, probably because we are a small team of high performers. I consider myself a people-first manager, and I wanted to keep my team together if possible, so I focused my energy on…managing. And I learned about a bunch of benefits of working at this company that I hadn’t been taking advantage of, so I decided to maximize every. single. one. I started taking my team out for lunch periodically after learning we have a yearly budget for staff lunches (I think it’s meant to be used for having lunch meetings, but I just take them to restaurants and talk about non-work related things). I maxed out my professional development budget taking classes that have helped me both as a manager and personally, and worked with my staff to help them find professional development opportunities to take advantage of too. I used all of my vacation time this year and made a plan to use it all next year (I highly recommend this, by the way, especially if you’re a manager or someone who feels like they’re always too busy to take time off). I encouraged my team to use their vacation time and tried to make it as easy as possible to do so (one day I decided to just close our department because everyone had requested a vacation day). I promoted my highest performer into a new role and gave them a decent raise. Recently, I spent all of our department’s remaining yearly office supply budget outfitting my team with ergonomic workspaces. I’ve taken periodic mental health days/partial days and have encouraged my staff to take time off for their health whenever they need it. I’m currently the only manager who has had no staff turnover in 2022. I have to give a lot of thanks to my boss for whatever they did to allow us to only have to come into the office one day a week. It doesn’t seem to me like the issue was really about the number of days in the office, but about staff feeling valued and respected. While my boss doesn’t have control over everything dysfunctional in the company, they have really tried to make it as positive a work environment as possible on their teams, and I do feel like they really value and respect me. I will likely leave the company in the next year or two to move closer to family (sooner if my boss leaves), but as long as things keep going as they have been, I feel good about staying a bit longer than originally planned. Update to the update: One more update: our company announced a decent cost of living raise for all staff about a month ago, and I just heard today that they are backtracking on it. Any raises will now be merit-based only and capped at 3% – while inflation in our area has been over 12% this year. The reasoning for this was that the org wanted to make a large political donation and didn’t have the funds for it – so they are taking it from our promised raises. I think I will start my job hunt again. Update 4 (#1 on list) Posted on March 13, 2024 (about three and a half years from first post, about fifteen months from last update) I have a happy update for you! I ended up needing to pause my job hunt as I ended up having surgery and being out on medical leave for 3 months, and when I got back, the long-time operations manager (who was the right-hand person to the COO) had left for another opportunity. Alison, I kid you not, after they left we learned that the operations manager had made up ALL of the ridiculous policies without the C-suite knowing, while saying they were the directive of the CEO/COO (including inventing the COL raises that were never actually on the table – I’m not sure where they were going with that one). C-suite lack of involvement notwithstanding, everything vastly improved with this person gone. A lot of other sketchy things have been uncovered since they left and I know there has been a decent amount of clean-up required. The new operations manager is awesome (and a totally reasonable human being) and there has been a really positive culture shift since she came on board. I’m currently interviewing for two positions outside of the organization that both seem like great opportunities (and both are in cities close to my friends and family), so I hope to be in a new position in 2024! submitted by /u/FishermanImportant83 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

Woman forgets a work ID and is supposed to work from home; She's last seen a few hours later walking along a highway, wearing the same clothes she was last seen in- Where is Melissa Casias? (2025)
Hello everyone! As always, thank you for all your comments and votes under my last post about Sara Ebersole- I hope that she will be found soon. Today I'd like to cover another disappearance, a very recent one. EDIT: It appears that I have made a mistake while writing this post- it was Sierra, Melissa's daughter that was involved in a car accident, not Melissa. My apologies for the mistake. BACKGROUND Melissa Casias was 53 when she went missing from Talpa, New Mexico, USA. Melissa lived in Rancho de Taos. She was married to Mark Casias for 20 years and the couple had an adult daughter named Sierra. Melissa and Sierra were "very, very close". The three lived together in one home. Melissa was an administrative assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Mark was also an employee there. Melissa was an avid hunter and archer, and has won several competitions. She was well-known in the local hunting and archery scene. Jose Mondragon, Melissa's father, said that his daughter was a "strong gal" who "can survive up in the wilderness for days". A few years ago, Sierra was involved in a car accident. There was supposed to be a settlement, but it seems like "some other person involved in that deal" also wanted some money. The case was pushed further, and Sierra "was planning on that to happen, then all that fell through" (quotes taken directly from Mark). It does seem like Melissa was involved in the case to some degree, not as a direct participant of the accident, but moreso in the legal action that happened as a result of it. She was an animal lover, with a soft spot for dogs, cats and horses. Her family described her as a "soft-spoken tough gal" who was "deeply devoted to her daughter, family and the community". Sierra described her mother as "(...)just (having) this very good aura. She (was) the emblem of a good person”. Mark described his wife as "the most wonderful person. (...)she (was) always smiling”. “She (didn't) get angry. She (was), like, a lovable person” DISAPPEARANCE Melissa was last seen on the 26th of June. She dropped off her husband at the Laboratory for his shift at around 6:15 AM. However, Melissa noticed that she forgot her ID badge- she decided to work remotely from the family home in Taos. Mark told her that he was going to need the car by about 11 AM, and Melissa said that she will bring it back at that hour as usual. Looking back, Mark said that he didn't think anything about that conversation was out of the ordinary. Sierra woke up at around 7:30 AM, and said that Melissa came home about 15 minutes later. When Sierra asked why Melissa was home, she replied that she forgot her badge, which Sierra accepted. As Sierra got ready to leave for work, nothing about Melissa seemed off to her. When Melissa didn't bring the car by 11 AM, Mark assumed she just got busy with work; That was untill Melissa's boss called him to ask if she was okay. Mark said that yes, she should be at work, but Melissa's boss told him she wasn't present. Around 12:30 PM, Melissa picked up lunch for Sierra at a Subway store and drove it to a cafe in Taos Plaza where Sierra worked. The two talked briefly between 12:50 and 12:57; Sierra gave Melissa a check to drop off at the bank for her. Sierra said that Melissa was "a little quiet" but overall seemed normal- Sierra attributed her mother's mood to her buing busy with errands. Worried, Mark contacted Sierra around 1:30 PM to ask his daughter if she was in contact with Melissa. When she said yes, he asked her if she could ask Melissa if she will pick him up from work or if he has to find a different ride. Sierra sent Melissa a screenshot of the message- Melissa has allegedly seen it, but she didn't reply. Sierra assumed that Melissa will call Mark and didn't think about the message much after that. Around 2:18 PM, a family acquaintance observed Melissa walking eastbound on NM518 from the Talpa, New Mexico, area towards Pot Creek, around 3 miles (4.8 km) from the family home. Melissa was recorded by a security camera of a local buisness, Kit Carson Electric Company. She was wearing the same clothes she was last seen wearing and it was "difficult" to tell if she was distressed. She had a backpack on the recording, and Sierra believes that Melissa took a toothbrush, hair iron, and a few other personal items from the house. Melissa's family believes she got into a car shortly after she was recorded- the investigators see it as a "possibility that's being investigated". Mark started calling Sierra around 2 PM, but she couldn't pick up due to work. When she finally had a free moment at 2:30 PM, she noticed a "frantic" voicemail from Mark, who told her that Melissa still haven't called him. Sierra sent a message to Melissa, but the message wasn't delivered. Sierra left work at 3:30 PM and came straight home. The main doors were closed, and Melissa's car was parked in front of the house. When she entered, Sierra saw Melissa's work phone and keys on the table. She decided to search the house; In her mother's office, she found Melissa's purse, personal phone and wallet. Both phones have been wiped. Mark was dropped off by a coworker at 5 PM. He reported his wife missing around that time. Melissa's disappearance was seen as unusual by her family- they had a family trip to a lake planned over the weekend that the mother and daughter were especially excited about, and Melissa was supposed to take her mother to the hospital for a knee replacement surgery on the 30th; She planned to take a day off to be there at the hospital during the surgery and she discussed dividing up the post-surgery care responsibilities of their mother between her and her sister. CONCLUSION Sierra and Mark believe that Melissa left on her own volition, possibly due to stress, as she allegedly has a tendency to "bottle things up". They also believe that Melissa lied about forgetting the badge in the morning, as Mark said that he saw her swiping it when she drove him to work- it seems like she had to use it to get into the parking lot. Mark and Sierra have been going through Melissa's documents after she went missing and discovered that she was "going through a huge, huge, huge amount of stres" they didn't know about and that there was a lot of "crumbling down" on her. They didn't specify what kind of trouble Melissa was in. Sierra alleged that Melissa's side of the family is keeping her and Mark from the search efforts. Outside of her grandparents/Melissa's parents, that side of the family came into the picture only two years ago and doesn't know Sierra and Mark well. Sierra also feels like their behavior is fueling rumors that Mark had something to do with Melissa's disappearance (there is nothing revealed to the public that would suggest that's the case). The investigators believe that Melissa has disappeared out of her own volition, but they can't fully discount foul play. They claim that nobody has been cleared and that they're investigating the case "from every angle". Jazmin McMillen, Melissa's niece, said that the archery community has really stepped up when her aunt went missing. Members from El Paso, Texas, Clovis, and Colorado came to Taos to help with search efforts. There is a $5000 reward for information that leads to Melissa's safe return. Melissa Casias was 53 when she went missing. She is a Hispanic woman, 5’4” (64 inch / 163 cm) and about 115 lbs (52 kg). She has brown hair and brown eyes. She has multiple tattoos including a dragon on her right ankle, dream catcher on her left shoulder, and a bow and arrow on her left arm. She was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt, jeans, and light-colored tennis shoes. If you have any info about Melissa's whereabouts, contact the New Mexico State Police Dispatch at 505-425-6771. Best Remote Data Entry Jobs from Home (No Experience, Part-Time) in 2025 – Legit Please?
Hi guys I’m searching for legit remote data entry jobs that are part-time and require no experience. I've come across many listings, but it's hard to tell what's trustworthy. I'm looking for something flexible that I can do from home without getting scammed or underpaid. If you’ve done this kind of work recently or know of any reliable platforms or companies hiring beginners, please share your experience. Also open to similar entry-level remote roles. Just want to get started with something real and steady. Thanks in advance! Edit: Just wanted to share my experience, I tried a lot of things, and here’s what actually worked for me. I used EliteSurveySites to find high paying survey panels, read their tips, and signed up for a few panels they recommended. At first, I barely made anything, just a few cents here and there. But after a couple of months, things picked up. Now I’m making over $1500 a month with a mix of BrandedSurveys, SurveyJunkie, and others. I also started doing simple writing gigs like captions for Instagram and LinkedIn, and i make around $200-$300 per month from this. I started posting affiliate content in pet forums, which brings in around $100–$150 from last month, but it seems the number of clicks are growing day by day. So, I’m expecting more from this. Hope this helps. I'll update this post if I come across anything else worth sharing. submitted by /u/geeklane to r/remotework [link] [comments]

I had a work from home job for four hours: they told me I couldn’t sit in a certain chair.
I recently took a remote position with an in-home veterinary euthanasia company because I’m two years in to a disability that I’m still acclimating to and working on accepting. I have been in the veterinary industry for several years prior to this as a practice manager, veterinary assistant, and receptionist. I am no longer physically capable of working in a normal clinic setting unless I strictly work reception -and- only have good days. On bad days, I need to lay back and elevate my feet because not doing so causes severe chest pain and a high heart rate for me. I hate it so very much. I’m telling you all this because I resigned from this position four hours after starting. The first four hours of work was a Zoom call that covered introductions and what we would be doing in training, as well as some tax paperwork with HR. This was by far one of the most overbearing companies I have ever worked for, even if it was only for a moment. They have a stipulation in their handbook that says you have to ask permission to get a second job even though they only pay $15/hr. We were instructed that we couldn’t help elderly clients look up somewhere else to go if we couldn’t help them “for liability reasons” (but really they just didn’t want a bad experience to come back to them). They wanted to be able to visit my actual physical house to make sure my work area that I paid for met their standards. These were all reasonably sized red flags that I ignored. Four hours in to training, we break for lunch and I am asked to stay behind by our trainer, Erin. Erin asks me why I am not sitting at a desk. I explained to Erin that though I started the session at a desk, I grew uncomfortable and had to move to a different chair because of my disability. Erin asks if I disclosed this disability during the interview and if it was “clear that I needed to provide a satisfactory workspace”. I explained that I was under absolutely no obligation to disclose my disability during an interview and that I wasn’t having any problem working from where I was sitting. Erin told me I could not sit in the chair I was sitting in and that I would need to make an accommodation request in order to continue sitting there- but until then, I needed to sit in the chair that I found extremely uncomfortable. Prior to this, I had an ice pack on my chest because I was in a great deal of pain from sitting at the desk chair. I thanked Erin for her time and logged off. I wrote a resignation to HR because my time and energy are far too valuable to argue over whether or not I’m allowed to create my own accommodation that has absolutely no effect on my working ability. The company in question will be reported to the EEOC for continuing to refuse to allow me to sit in a specific chair. And yes, I realize how insane that sounds. I spent a solid hour sobbing to my parents about this when it happened. It broke my heart to yet again have this horrible medical condition stand in my way. But I was not going to subject myself to the humiliation of having to ask permission to be comfortable. submitted by /u/MudiMom to r/antiwork [link] [comments]

My part time job told me I had to go full time or quit. This is coming from the same company who says nobody wants to work.
I have a steady full time job but I always keep a part time job a few nights a week and a weekend day. My latest was at a small recycling company taking apart old computers. The work kind of sucks but I walked there from my home. Last week, my boss tells me to start coming in full time next week because he can’t find any other help. I reminded him I have a full time job that pays my bills and has full time benefits so I couldn’t. He blew up at me saying that “nobody wants to work” and said I could just quit if I couldn’t help more. I laughed thinking he was kidding but he wasn’t. I asked him if he was serious and he said he needed dedicated full time help. I asked “so, you can’t find help, but you’d rather have me quit than work part time?” He said yes. “Effective when?” I asked, he said I could just leave now. So I left. He’s texted me three times and I haven’t even looked at the messages. Might as well enjoy my nights and weekends for a while. His logic just doesn’t make sense to me. submitted by /u/AZNM1912 to r/antiwork [link] [comments]

What the fuck is SO WRONG WITH WORKING FROM HOME?!!
Like really? What is so wrong with allowing your Team or company to WFH if they are capable of doing it? What is wrong with Wfh ESPECIALLY if the team productivity went up during the pandemic due to being Wfh? The pandemic was a fucking blessing in disguise as far as WFH goes. We see now that a lot of companies are fully remote or hybrid (I prefer fully remote). I personally don’t even care for hybrid either. Why make ppl come to work to have meetings that can be done on teams or zoom? Please don’t mention “office camaraderie”. I don’t give a fuck about that enough for me come to an office If you manage a team and want them to come back the office because you want to “make sure they are working” then that says you don’t trust your team and you probably need to re-evaluate YOURSELF as a leader. Sorry for the rant. Lol submitted by /u/2lit_ to r/antiwork [link] [comments]

AITA for not taking the option of working from home?
I work for a tech company. My husband is an aspiring author. He has had some success and we hope for more in the future. When I got pregnant I negotiated a full year of maternity leave with my employer. I would not lose seniority or miss out of certain aspects of profit sharing. I'm sorry for being vague but I know many of our employees are in Reddit so I am going to fudge some information. In return for the accomodation I made with my employer I got a month of completely uninterrupted time with my new baby. Then I started taking on tasks from home on my own schedule. On average it was 15 hours or so a week. My husband writes at home so we decided that he would be the stay at home parent and when I was working he would care for our baby. It was a pretty good arrangement I thought. And it was for about a month. Then he would start ignoring the baby crying, or claiming that the baby wanted me. That sort of thing. It started to interfere with my deal with my boss. I told him in no uncertain terms that if he kept interrupting me while I was working I would hire a nanny for help, but take the funds out of our fun budget. The budget that pays for dinners out, vacations, and hobbies. He got the point and I got my one to two hours of uninterrupted time every day. Until recently. It is almost time for me to return to work full time. Once again my employer was very accommodating. They were impressed with my ability to contribute meaningfully to my group during my maternity leave. So they offered me a choice of WFH, work in the office, or a hybrid schedule. I discussed it with my husband and he said that I should chose to WFH so I could help more with the baby. I chose to return to the office. I have access to a private room and a freezer so I can store milk. I am able to interact with my team and I enjoy the environment. My husband is saying that I'm being cruel and that my baby needs me. I said I would WFH if he got a job to pay for the nanny so it didn't affect our budget. He said it didn't make sense. I almost said 'no shit Sherlock ". He wants me to be the main breadwinner while he tries to get published, he wants to enjoy life in an expensive city, and he wants to stay home to write. Some of these desires are mutually exclusive without him stepping up and giving me time and space to earn a living. We just saw his family for Thanksgiving and he was complaining to his mom about me choosing to leave him at home with the baby and returning to work. She started in on me for my choice. I was embarrassed until his dad spoke up and reminded her that when my husband was born she was a stay at home mom and housewife. He said that was what my husband signed up for if he didn't want a job. It just became a big argument. Now we are home and I feel bad and he says that he feels emasculated. So we are arguing. I feel like an asshole abandoning him and our baby. And his mom thinks I am. EDIT When I say he has had success I mean it. He wrote a novel that he self published. It was optioned for a movie. It was a lot of money to us at the time. But after the agent and lawyers took there share there was a lot less. And the movie never got made so there was no more money or publicity for his writing there. submitted by /u/Life_Detail4527 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

CEO said "If you want to work from home, go work somewhere else", so most of my team and I did just that.
For a short while last year, I worked as a team lead for one of the app development teams for one of the food delivery apps. The entire team had been working from home since the start of the pandemic and had had a bunch of remote-only people join, so they were spread across several time zones, but we made it work because we thought this was how things were going to be going forward. After making several billion dollars from people like us working from home and ordering delivery, around the end of summer, the entire C-suite decided that COVID was pretty much over (spoiler: it definitely wasn't and all my people knew it) and that we would all be heading back to the office part time, gradually increasing to full time. Now, this place had pretty high turnover, so most of us had never been to any of the offices since we had been hired. We had been told when we were hired that any return to work policy would be super flexible and it turned out it really wasn't. Moreover, those in cities without an office, even though they were hired as remote workers, were expected to come up with a 1-year plan about how they were going to move without any assistance or compensation to a city with an office. Needless to say, my team and many others lost their collective shit over this new policy. So the CEO started doing town halls with the other executives to pump the "collaboration" and "team-building" aspects of being back in the office. During one of the Q&A sessions, someone finally asked something like "I was hired remote and I don't live in a city with an office. I don't want to uproot my family. Will you make exceptions for people like me?". To which the CEO replied "Look. This is what we're doing and what we think is best for the company. If you want to work from home, my suggestion is to go work somewhere else". What happened next was the digital equivalent of the air being let out of a balloon. The company slack channel conversations ground to a halt and became virtual ghost towns, going from spirited conversations to the bare minimum of functional courtesies. The attendance at company-wide meetings fell by half and within a month, there was a veritable flurry of resignations, including mine. Prior to this debacle, we had already been paid below market rates, so this Fuck You from the CEO was just the match being lit on an already pretty sizable tank of gas. By the time I left, the team that started at 8 people was down to just 2 deciding to stay. And six months later, word is they are still trying to find people and resorting to making QA people into app developers just to try to keep things going. As for me - I got a 50% pay bump for less responsibilities and work just a few hours a day instead of tons of unpaid overtime trying to put out fires at that old shitshow. submitted by /u/Icerman to r/antiwork [link] [comments]

You can't continue working from home because you go idle in chat too often
As part of the plan to return to office post covid, my company has done a lot of re-designating of who can permanently work from home, who can hybrid, etc. I really wanted to work from home full time. I hate the office with a burning passion - it's distracting, it's a long commute, there's no benefit to being there, so on and so forth. I'd just rather be at home. Well when we thought May was going to be go back to office time they started giving out the new designations. I got designated as in office full time. It made no sense to me. I work on a team of 8 people and each of us is in a different office somewhere in the country. I've literally never been to an in person meeting or needed to do in person work in 3 years at this company. Every single other person on my team got designated to work from home. So I brought it up with my boss and asked to work from home. When I started at this company and lived elsewhere I got to work from home for 4 months before I moved and the past 14 months during covid have been at home, so 18/36 months at the company have been WFH. What I was told is that I go idle too often in chat to trust to work from home. Basically we have a company wide IM system that shows you as available, idle, or in a meeting. If you don't touch your keyboard for 5 minutes you show as idle. So they've decided to use this as a measure for who is working and who isn't. The thing is, like many people in many types of jobs, I don't have shit to do for a full 8 hours every single day. The amount of work I have to do on a typical day takes 3-5 hours of actual attention. There simply isn't something to do ALL the time. My performance numbers actually went up working from home, by all objective KPI numbers I'm a better worker at home. In fact, in the KPIs that I don't flat out lead the team in, I come in second. There isn't work to do that I'm neglecting or procrastinating, when something comes up I simply do it until it's done or until I can't do anymore due to waiting on someone else then stop. And I've done that method long enough that my work queue stays empty because I worked to get my queue down to the point where when something comes up I can immediately address it and be done with it. But because I have other ways to spend my time in down time instead of messing around online at my cube pretending to be working meaning I show idle more often, I'm a worse worker apparently. I was told if it weren't for that they would let me work at home. So I wrote a 6 line powershell script that virtually inputs the period key every 4 minutes that starts running every day at 8am and stops at 5pm. So now I literally never go idle. I do the same amount of work and still read books, watch tv, and play video games on the side. But I have a shiny green check next to my name all day. Because of covid complications they eventually said no going back until after labor day. I just had a meeting with my boss and he said over this time they've noticed I go idle a lot less than I used to so they're changing my designation to work from home, all because of a little icon in some software. This concludes my TED talk on why low to middle level managers are the dumbest, most useless do-nothing positions in all of corporate America EDIT: I do not need to be told to buy a mouse jiggler for the 30th time. I'm aware of what they are. This cost me no money and achieves the same thing. Why would I pay to achieve an effect I've already achieved for free? EDIT 2: A lot of people are understandably asking for the script: $dummyshell = New-Object -com "Wscript.shell" $dummyshell.sendkeys(".") That's the backbone of the whole thing. There's different ways to implement it with for loops or scheduled tasks or whatever, that parts up to you, but that's all the powershell needs at it's core to accomplish this. A lot of people have pointed out that sending Insert or F13 instead of period would be better so change that up if you want. To all the people commenting that I'm a shitty employee and obviously trying to insult me over it: I wish I could make you feel just how little I care. To all the people implying a work day isn't valid if you aren't at 100% capacity from 8 - 5, keep it up, you truly are an ideal employee...to them. Enjoy the taste of leather, bootlickers Edit 3: Some of y’all would be pissed as fuck if I explained the concept of firefighters to you submitted by /u/ythafuckigetsuspend to r/MaliciousCompliance [link] [comments]

YSK that in the USA an employer can often legally spy on you while you work from home, using your computer camera.
I found this out the other day when my girlfriend's HR person accidentally let it slip to her, leading me to dig around and find out the laws on it. The time clock software they use takes screenshots of the computer and photos of her. They didn't ever tell her what it was doing. Turns out that if you are using any work machinery they can access everything. The camera, microphone, what is on the screen, etc., without having to tell you. And of you agree to install any software on your own computer, they might legally be allowed to use your camera at any time without having to let you know. It can easily be buried in employee agreements/fine print. Why YSK: They can be spying on you, and see everything, even if they have never explicitly said they are. Edit: for the large number of requests for source. https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/is-it-legal-for-my-boss-to-spy-on-me-through-my-laptop-camera#:~:text=%E2%80%9CYour%20employer%20can%20monitor%20just,devices%20and%20over%20its%20network.&text=Your%20employer%20can%20also%20review,%2C%20voicemail%20and%20text%20messages.%E2%80%9D https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomspiggle/2020/05/21/can-employers-monitor-employees-who-work-from-home-due-to-the-coronavirus/ Feel free to check for laws in your individual state or country. I was just floored by the fact that they kept it a secret. I couldn't imagine that they wouldn't need to get your okay. The fact that they don't need permission was... Crazy to me. Edit 2: There are additional laws regarding recording (specifically audio), which have a lot more restrictions. But bottom line, cover your computer camera when not in use and don't use your work computer for anything non-work related. Oh, and if you have the choice, work for a company where the IT people have your back, and the company has some morals on the subject. submitted by /u/vitaestbona1 to r/YouShouldKnow [link] [comments]

The Uber driver who drove me home from work yesterday was waiting outside of my work today
Edit: 30... Thirty... I'm 30. I should have just used the numbers in the first place, reading comprehension is hard I know... I am an adult, not thirteen. Also while I'm here, huge shoutout to the guy who called me "a drama queen with a blind eye", I kind of loved it, thank you. As a contextual thing, I take a lot of Ubers because I am functionally blind in one eye and the lack of depth perception causes me to be unable to drive. This guy was my Uber driver home from work yesterday morning (I work nights). He told me that I looked to be about the same age as him and I laughed as he looked to be in his mid-forties and I am having my thirtieth birthday in a couple of weeks, but he seemed surprised when I told him my age and made a joke about "there goes my five stars". That was slightly awkward but no big deal, I gave him the same five stars I give to every Uber driver who doesn't act like an enormous asshole. But then he drove me home again this morning. At first I thought that he was just in his usual area or what have you, but this man felt perfectly comfortable with telling me that he had pulled into the parking lot and had waited for ten minutes for me to come out and order an Uber. What the unholy fuck?! So I'm already uncomfortable. He asked me what I do on the weekends and I told him that that's when I spend my time with my friends. He then asked me whether I wanted one more friend, a question that I tried to dodge the pointed intention of by saying something like "haha, it's always good to have friends". But he told me that he "was interested in getting to know me" anyway and that's why he was waiting outside my work today. Said he likes how my laugh sounds. Then he started regaling me with sad tales of his personal life, including his mother's cancer. This was actually a slight improvement because it wasn't about me at all. THEN, when he dropped me off he pointedly asked "so how do I get in touch with you outside of (place I work in)?". I was stunned into silence and he followed up with a standard sad-toned "I don't?". I basically told him that I didn't feel comfortable with that as I don't know him at all, got out of the car and didn't look back. This is crazy. How does this complete stranger think that ANY ONE ELEMENT of this is even remotely appropriate? Just because a woman is friendly and smiles at you is no excuse to literally STALK HER outside of her job and push your company on her. I feel disgusted by the very idea that this guy may well be in that parking lot again on Monday morning and I will not be entering his vehicle ever again. If you ever need more evidence to not give these people your full address, you never know when someone may just decide to wait where they know you'll be. submitted by /u/SugarCanKissMyAss to r/TwoXChromosomes [link] [comments]
