Throwaway Account because outside of this I don't intend to make posts regularly and will go back to just reading. I (55m) have three children. Two girls and a boy. My son is my oldest and up until recently I thought he was a decent man. Unfortunately my daughter in law "Tessa" (32f, fake name) showed me that I was wrong and when revealed to me that the reason she was divorcing my son was because he cheated on multiple times and gave her an STD. She made a social media post with pictures of text messages and show video recordings of messages he left proving her side. I was shocked and when I confronted my son he said that she over exaggerating and that the only reason he did it was because she wasn't putting out. Tessa gave birth to their second child seven months ago and their first child is three years old. I apologized to Tessa for my son's behavior and then yelled at him for being so selfish, intentionally hurtful, and cruel. I did not hide or downplay my disappointment and was only silenced by my wife's defense of our son. I remember how hard it was when my wife had our second daughter and couldn't believe she didn't have a shred of sympathy for Tessa. Tessa is a sweet and smart person and she didn't deserve what our son did. My wife has been letting our son stay in our house despite my wishes saying that he needs our support but I say he's in need of a hard lesson. We fought about this constantly. Eventually, my son accused Tessa of getting the STD from someone else and demanded a paternity test. I knew these claims were bullish*t and saw red. I yelled at him for it and his mother came to his defense and told me a man had every right to know if his kids were his. I countered with demanding a test of my own and my wife was offended and I moved out. She and my son sent others after me and either lied and overplayed what things were like at home and I just got tired defending myself. I was going to let things be until either my wife or son contacted my job and made hurtful accusations about a female employee that I've been mentoring for the past year and that's when I snapped. I'm filing for divorce. The house is paid off so I'm willing to let her have it but until a judge says so I've stopped putting money in any of the accounts that she has access to and only make payments to the credit card with the $4k limit so she has money to buy groceries, get gas, and pay for her other expenses. I've also changed my main beneficiaries to my daughters and told my son if he wanted a single cent of my money, he'd have to take a DNA test. He later did and he passed, and I responded with an email acknowledgement that he was my son as well as a copy of re-updated will where he will receive 10% of my assets. My wife and son are demanding a public apology, but I don't feel like they deserve it. Am I wrong? Edit to add: Just to be clear since people seem to be skipping over it but my wife called my job and accused one of my mentees of getting special treatment in exchange for special favors from me and other men in the company. I can also understand why you filed for divorce since one of them messed with your employment. I also think it is beyond tacky that THEY want a public apology. Despite all of that, are you sure that you are ready to throw away a long term marriage over the events that have taken place? Could marriage counseling perhaps give you and your wife the opportunity to reconcile? In any case, if you do proceed with divorce don't give away anything that you shouldn't give away. She will demand half of any assets that accrued during the marriage, even if you do give her the house. So, if she gets the house make sure that you get equivalent other assets to make it even. OOP: I didn't say it in the post but my wife viciously went over a nice young woman in my company that I've been mentoring for the past year. We've always kept a professional relationship that I was always open with my wife about and she made the choice to go after. Accusing her of getting special treatment from me and other men in exchange for favors. There's an active investigation at HR about because of how public my wife has decided to be and some people are starting to believe it. Document.   Update #1: September 18, 2025 (nearly one month later) Because I still see a few people writing "Updateme" I thought I'd give a little update to the chaos that is my life. In short the young woman who I was mentoring talked to HR is leaving the company and will be suing my wife for defamation. I am also being pushed to leave, despite HR clearing me of any wrongdoing. A lot of people in the office just give me dirty looks and/or keep their distance. I've also gotten a lawyer she feels confident that because the evidence of my wife's blatant attempt to sabotage my reputation at work, I can just give her a lump settlement instead of alimony. My lawyer also agrees to a lot of you in regards to not just giving my wife the house, but rather sale it and split the profits. I'm back in the house for now per my lawyer's advice and it's pretty miserable right now. Definitely drinking a lot more than I used to just trying to hang on. I've also had some hard but honest conversations with my daughters and I have come to accept that there are certain aspects of fatherhood that I failed in. I did show up to school events and spend time with my children but overall I let my wife do the majority of the parenting and she favored our son. I just never really paid much attention and my daughters didn't feel as if they could talk until now. However, they're still willing to have a relationship with me and are on my side with the divorce. I haven't spoken to my daughter in law much but she did send me a "Thank you" text for standing up for her. Thanks for reading. I forgot about this account until now and have decided to post updates to anyone who cares. Links to the original post and first update will be below. Okay so here's the update: I filed for divorce a few months back and returned to the home per my lawyer's advice but my wife and son have not made it easy. I had to take video of them accosting me to a judge for them to finally back off or be forced to vacate the home. I also have a lock on my bedroom and office doors and a small fridge in my office. I also go to my oldest daughter's house a lot for dinner for some peace and I also think it's really convenient for when we have our deep conversations. I've also attended a couple of video therapy sessions with my youngest daughter to help her unpack some of her issues. Ultimately, my daughters decided that in spite of it all they still want me around and can see that I'm willing to listen and respect their boundaries so we're solid. I left my job but was given a decent severance package and work as a freelance consultant for other companies in the same/similar field. I don't get paid as much and don't have as much security but it's something and the free time allows me to help out more with the grandchildren. My daughter's children not SIL. SIL has decided to keep her distance until the divorce is finalized and she has primary custody of both the kids. My son is allowed to keep the oldest overnight but almost never does and won't visit the youngest since they're still baby who prefers breastmilk to formula. My former mentee is suing my wife who had the audacity to ask me to pay her legal fees. Her divorce lawyer seriously asked for that and she's trying to get the house. Last I checked they were going to settle which will end up having to come from her portion of the sale of the house. A sale that she was trying to stop by not approving of any of the repair people I suggested so we could fix up the house in order to get it ready as well as wanting to dispute it's value. It's taken a judge's order to get her to finally back off and I'm basically going to have to foot the bill for the repair and realtor fees if I want to get this over with sooner rather than later. Hello, I'm dumb. I experienced the end of an era and I'm never going back. I used to drink 1-2 drinks from 7 Brew PER DAY without ever looking at the nutrition facts. I've been struggling to lose weight so about a month ago I finally looked up how many calories I was consuming via coffee and I was floored. Floored, I tell you. I thought they would be 180 calories max, because I'm a very ill informed individual when it comes to this type of thing. I haven't gone to 7 Brew since, instead opting for regular coffee at the office or just a diet coke in the morning. I estimate I've saved at least $200 since I gave it up. TRIGGER WARNING: Likely infidelity Original Post Aug 18, 2016 My girlfriend Tara and I have been dating for 6 months. I love her a lot and she is everything I could ever want in a significant other. However, she doesn't like the fact that I bake. I'm not talking about getting baked-- I love making cakes, pastries, cookies, and all sorts of desserts. Tara said she doesn't feel special when I'm baking. She thinks I bake because I love the activity rather than the reason being that I love her. So I guess she feels inferior to my love of baking, but I like to bake her things because I enjoy making her happy AND because it is one of my favorite hobbies. She has been really distant lately. I'm afraid she will break up with me, but she's the only woman I've ever thought about marrying. What should I do? So before I could confront Tara about what was bothering her about my baking, she told me via text that she was really busy with work and life stuff, and wanted to take a break from our relationship for a bit. This has happened a couple times before where she would ask to be friends because of her lack of free time (she works in the advertising industry, and I understand that working overtime is the norm). It was confusing because although she just wanted to be platonic, she would give me mixed signals and we would wind up becoming intimate again, like a couple. However, this last break was different because I didn't really get to see her because of our conflicting schedules. So we didn't hang out or do anything together. And then about a week after she had asked to go on the break, she called me and told me that she met someone else. :( tl;dr: Before I could talk to my gf about why she was upset about my baking hobby, she told me she wanted to go on a break-- she informed me she met someone new a week afterward. During an all-hands meeting earlier this month, Google’s AI infrastructure head Amin Vahdat told employees that the company must double its serving capacity every six months to meet demand for artificial intelligence services, reports CNBC. The comments show a rare look at what Google executives are telling its own employees internally. Vahdat, a vice president at Google Cloud, presented slides to its employees showing the company needs to scale “the next 1000x in 4-5 years.” While a thousandfold increase in compute capacity sounds ambitious by itself, Vahdat noted some key constraints: Google needs to be able to deliver this increase in capability, compute, and storage networking “for essentially the same cost and increasingly, the same power, the same energy level,” he told employees during the meeting. “It won’t be easy but through collaboration and co-design, we’re going to get there.” It’s unclear how much of this “demand” Google mentioned represents organic user interest in AI capabilities versus the company integrating AI features into existing services like Search, Gmail, and Workspace. But whether users are using the features voluntarily or not, Google isn’t the only tech company struggling to keep up with a growing user base of customers using AI services. Major tech companies are in a race to build out data centers. Google competitor OpenAI is planning to build six massive data centers across the US through its Stargate partnership project with SoftBank and Oracle, committing over $400 billion in the next three years to reach nearly 7 gigawatts of capacity. The company faces similar constraints serving its 800 million weekly ChatGPT users, with even paid subscribers regularly hitting usage limits for features like video synthesis and simulated reasoning models. “The competition in AI infrastructure is the most critical and also the most expensive part of the AI race,” Vahdat said at the meeting, according to CNBC’s viewing of the presentation. The infrastructure executive explained that Google’s challenge goes beyond simply outspending competitors. “We’re going to spend a lot,” he said, but noted the real objective is building infrastructure that is “more reliable, more performant and more scalable than what’s available anywhere else.” The thousandfold scaling challenge One major bottleneck for meeting AI demand has been Nvidia’s lack of capacity to produce enough GPUs that accelerate AI computations. Edit: I’m not reading any more comments, so if you have any bright little tidbits about how stupid I am for trying a product, might as well keep it to yourself. Didn’t think I’d have to spell out every single little thing, but of course on the internet people will find a way to project things onto you. I’m aware it wasn’t going to be an artisanal coffee shoppe. I know I could have looked up the menu online beforehand, but I really feel like you shouldn’t have to. People took this post wayyyyy too seriously and want to diagnose strangers as incompetent buffoons. Maybe take half a second before you chase the dopamine of dunking on an online stranger and think about what was said versus what your super original comment is about to say ;) I went to the one that’s there on Chippewa by Watson today and felt like I’d been punk’d. Getting in there is enough of a challenge; you can only enter from one entrance that is damn near impossible to get to unless you’re already traveling towards it on Chippewa. The line was long but moving weirdly fast, and there’s no menu in sight. A peppy girl came to my window to take my order. Not having studied the menu beforehand and with none in sight, I said I didn’t know. She flipped her tablet around and starts rattling off different names and going to different tabs to show me 85,000 different drink options with a careless sense of urgency that seemed to say “just pick one so I can keep this line moving”. I picked a blondie, because it was prominent on the menu, and she asked if half & half is okay, I asked about milk options. Again, she carelessly rattled on 17 different milk options. I said half & half is fine. She asked what size, I asked what the sizes are. We talked sweetness levels and I went for half. The drink cost almost $7. I pulled forward and the girl hanging off drinks rattles off my order and asks if it’s mine. Noticing the first full-size menu available to me as a customer behind her, I laugh and say maybe, I don’t know what I was ordering and I’m just now seeing a menu. She gave a fake chuckle and said I know for next time. I just took my first sip and this is the sweetest god damn “coffee” I’ve ever had in my life!!!! I think I understand this place now. It’s for those who don’t really care what the taste profile or quality of the coffee even is, they just want sugar milk. This even puts Starbucks or McDonald’s iced coffee to shame in terms of pure sugar. I couldn’t stand the attitude of everyone who worked there, seemingly annoyed I didn’t have my order memorized and ready to drone on to her as soon as she walked up. Again, the drink is so damn sweet. If this is half sweet, I would hate to taste the full sweetness version. With the way the lines are at this place, you’d think they were selling liquid gold! I've made a terrible mistake and learned a valuable lesson. Allow me to walk you through the last 3 days of hell. My housemate went on holiday tuesday morning leaving me alone for the week. I don't often get time alone so I planned my time around working a little each day then playing games for the rest of the day. About 12pm and several joints I was getting hungry and had an amazing idea. I was gonna make a massive homemade lasagne and eat it over the course of the week. At this point I had no idea what it would do to my body and if future me could talk to the me from tuesday, I would have warned him. Day 1 Tuesday Morning. So I get all the stuff and spend an hour or so making a massive, 7 layer lasagne with nearly a whole block of cheese, several tins of tomatoes and a layer of apple sauce in the middle to give it a sweet tang. It was enough to feed 10 peoole easily. It smelt so good. Tuesday lunchtime. Portion 1 I fried some chips/ fries and garlic bread and sat down to eat it was amazing. I was so thrilled it turned out great. Tuesdays evening. Portion 2 Still just as delicious, even better maybe after letting it sit for a few hours. Nothing brewing in my body yet, it was the calm before the storm. Tuesday Midnight. Portion 3. I believe this was my first mistake. I had been smoking a few joints and watching AVGN on YouTube and all of sudden I remember that I made a massive lasagne, I tried to resist but my stoner brain only lasted about 5 minutes before I had more and cooked some midnight garlic bread to go with it . It still tasted good. After eating I noticed I was starting to get acid relax, I took an lanzoprazol and tried to sleep. Wednesday morning. Portion 4 I woke up and my stomach was grumbling so I went and plated up another helping of lasagne. It tasted okay, not as delicious as my previous 3 helpings but I put that down to it being early and i had just woken up. It's at this point my stomach acid kicked up again and I needed a shit really badly. I ran to the toilet and had the runniest shit id had in a long time, it was almost painful. Now at this point you would normally go, hmmm maybe I should lay off the lasagne for a bit but it never occurred to me at the time that 4 meals of lasagne could produce such bad bowls. I felt better after so quickly forgot about it. Wednesday lunchtime. Portion 5. I know It might seem crazy but at about 2pm I was hungry. I had work to get on with but and didn't have the time to cook anything and nothing to grab quickly except lasagne. So back I went. At this point half the lasagne is gone and half remains. This time the lasagne didn't taste that great. But I ate it cause i needed to have something to give ne some energy. I realised at the point that my stomach felt weird, like painful and uncomfortable. I made myself some coffee and expected a poo but nothing came. Just a horrible feeling something wasn't right Wednesday evening. Portion 6 - The final Portion. After finishing work I looked at the remaining lasagne. I know I thought, maybe it's cause I've had no salad or vegetables with it. That will make it taste better and give me some thing to sort my stomach out. So I made some salad, more garlic bread and the final portion. I knew immediately after eating it i had made a terrible mistake. My bowls started aching and making noises. I ran to the toilet and as my arse hit the seat, a volcano of red hot shit erupted from my anus. It was so painful, my arse was on fire. Some of the shit came out so violently that it somehow shot upwards, pebble dashing to toilet lid behind me. I don't even know how that's possible. Maybe shit collided with other bits of shit in motion and exploded Either way it was the worse toilet experience of my life. Then came the smell, it was delayed almost, like I was in so much pain the universe said "let's give him a minute before we hit him with the smell" It was like acid, this putred gas almost instantly made me feel sick. I wanted to run out of the toilet and seek fresh air but the shit was still exploding out of me. I had no choice but to hold my nose and breath through my mouth which was horrible. All I thought was, I'm getting this acidic shit smell in my mouth. After what seemed like 5 minutes of lava bursting out of me, It stopped but at what cost. My butthole was still on fire, its like someone was holding a lighter tomy anus. The smell was so bad I had to wipe quickly and escape this hell I had created, but my anus hurt so much every wipe was like dragging sandpaper over it. I winced with every wipe and was almost in tears and it was so messy it took a lot of wiping. I stumbled put of the toilet, like a cowboy who's been on his horse for days. I couldn't sit down, all I could do was lie on my side in bed and try to get to sleep. Thursday morning. I woke up and I could instantly feel my anus burning. Before I'd even registered I was awake. Whats worse is that I needed another shit. I was terrified at this point. After yesterday I had toilet trauma. I knew there was still a portion of two inside me and it wasn't gonna be good. It went just how you expect. It was another fowl smelling liquid shit that each strain felt like a knife in my anus, I held onto the towel rail and forced as much out as I could each push. I figured if I can get it all done quickly it wouldn't be so bad. It kinda worked but I think the damage was done at this point so I painfully cleaned myself and waddled to my desk and worked Standing up for the rest of the day. Thursday lunchtime. The constant pain subsided but I still had bad gas and every fart was agony. The smell was just as bad though. Something was still rotting inside me. At least I could sit down to work now. I wasn't hungry and decided to fast for the day. I didn't dare put more food in me. Thursday evening As I type this I'm lying in bed, on my side. I can feel the last of the lasagne on its way and I'm dreading going through this, even if it's one last time. My anus still burns when I fart and that is happening often. It's freezing cold but I need the window open to let the smell of my approaching shit out. There's a lesson to be learned here. Don't under any circumstances eat nothing but lasagne and garlic bread for every meal for 2 days. Nothing good cam come from it. *TLDR: I ate nothing but lasagne for every meal for 2 days and now my anus is on fire constantly and I smell like a rotten skunk. * **Edit: Clearly my fuck up was leaving it out for 2 days. I appreciate all the concern. As for the apple sauce, it wasn't a thick layer, i just spread some out on a layer of pasta. When it cooks the moisture in it evaporates and you just left with the sugar really. I like sweet and savoury. TIFU by drinking a 7-11 cold brew To preface this, I don’t drink a lot of caffeine. The occasional coffee, a soda every now and again…nothing crazy. Now, onto the story. My boyfriend and I were on our way to a show. It was hot and I was kinda tired, so instead of grabbing a Gatorade or something similar, I decided to get an iced coffee. I was completely unaware that this decision would drastically change the course of the day. I got a mocha cold brew…in a medium Big Gulp cup. I drank the whole thing on the way to the train station. I should have realized that this was NOT the play when I tasted it. It was so strong, it tasted borderline alcoholic. We got on the train, and this is when things started to go terribly awry. I never get motion sickness, especially not on the train, but almost immediately I started feeling nauseous and I was getting the spins while looking out the window. I still thought nothing of this and figured that there was a first time for everything. It’s about that time that I felt a gurgling in my gut and realized that this wasn’t your ordinary motion sickness, and something was terribly wrong. I managed to hold everything together until I got to Penn Station (in NYC). I had to find a bathroom…immediately. My boyfriend knows this, and the hunt for the bathroom was on. I’m barely keeping it together, and walking as fast as possible, which, at that time, was not too fast. If I walked any faster…it would’ve been a disaster. Finally we found a bathroom and I rush in. Dear reader, let me just tell you, without going into too graphic detail, what came out of me was complete liquid and required 2 courtesy flushes. I was drenched in sweat and shakey, but I thought that the worst was over. I was wrong. We exited Penn Station, and almost immediately I felt dizzy. Like REALLY dizzy. Like about to faint dizzy. We were walking down the street and I had to sit down on the sidewalk so I didn’t drop where I stood. I thought that it was just from the heat. After all, it was in the high 90’s. Or maybe it was because I hadn’t eaten all day. My amazing boyfriend ran across the street and got me a piece of pizza and a drink. At this point, I am a sweaty, dizzy, shakey mess sitting on the sidewalk. I try and eat, but it was almost as if my body forgot how to eat. I managed to get down a half a slice though. I had to stop. I was so nauseous that I was sure it was all going to come back up. Needless to say, I did not feel any better. It took over an hour, and drinking 2 more waters before I felt capable of walking again. At this point we had to catch the train to Newark to get to the show. I COULD have just gone home at this point, but I’m stubborn, and was sure that I’d be fine. We got to Newark okay, but as soon as we got off the train…right to the bathroom. At this point I’m convinced that I’m dying. I was still really shakey, so we decided to get something to eat so I could try and get more food in me. I got 2 mozzarella sticks in me before I got super nauseous again. We get to the show, which was only about a 5 minute walk from where we got some food. As soon as we get in, bathroom…again. Now I was starting to get a screaming headache,but luckily we had Advil with us. Unluckily, it did not work at all. I made it through the show, and managed to shakily stumble back onto the trains to get home. A quick google search for “sick from 711 cold brew coffee” made me realize that I overdosed on caffeine. I drank that giant cold brew over 15 hours ago. It’s now nearly 5AM. I’m exhausted. My heart is still racing, and I’m still a shakey mess. Thankfully the trips to the bathroom have stopped. Never again, 7-11 cold brew. I learned that lesson. TL;DR: I drank a big 7-11 cold brew iced coffee and overdosed on caffeine. ETA: This is far from my first run in with stimulants, if you get what I’m saying. (Edit - NOT overdosing…just partaking) Surprisingly, this was the worst though. This was just a terrible experience. ETA (again): If anyone knows a way to counteract this that doesn’t involve medical intervention, please let me know. I need to sleep. ETA (yet again): By medium Big Gulp, I mean the 30oz one (or .89 liters, for literally anyone outside of the US). Update: Still no sleep…21 hours after drinking that cold brew from hell. My awesome boyfriend is going to the store to get me Gatorade though. (I love him so much!) Still trying to eat without becoming nauseous (unsuccessfully), and still trying to get even just an hour of sleep. This suuuuucks Update 2: Still no sleep. It’s been 24 hours since I drank that devil juice. I managed to eat a banana (thank you for your suggestions!). I’ve been drinking water and Gatorade. Still really shaky and nauseous. Getting really worried that I got a contaminated batch (or possibly fermented, as someone suggested), and may have food poisoning (as many of you have suggested). Not happy at all Update 3: Some of you are actually scaring me a bit. I looked back into my Apple Watch heart rate data, and when I was resting, trying not to pass out yesterday, my heart rate was jumping between 48BPM and 140BPM over a 7 min time frame. I was sitting on the ground resting. Should I go to the hospital?! I’m actually really scared. Right now it’s going between 87BPM and 103BPM while resting (but I am mildly panicking!). What is happening?! Update 4: I’m not on my way to the hospital. A kind stranger talked me down…and so did my amazingly wonderful boyfriend, who’s been dealing with this shit right along with me for 2 days now. If I get worse instead of better, I will go to the hospital. Kind of just waiting for the crash now and hydrating. Thank you to you all for all your help and suggestions! Update 5 (Final update): I slept! For about an hour and a half, but still! I’m also able to eat a little bit, and am still hydrating. I’m gonna be okay guys!
