Okay, I want opinions here - am I thinking/doing 75 hard āwrongā? I am 31(f) who decided to try 75 hard on January 1. I wanted to motivate myself and thought it would be great to challenge myself. I decided my ādietā would be targeting staying under a certain amount of calories each day. I wanted to do weight loss healthily so I set my goal at 1890. I cut out regular sugary soda and pretty much all desserts and junk foods, and donāt do fast foods. My husband says Iām not doing it right because people he knows that do 75 hard stick to diets like keto or something like that. Heās says I think as out 75 hard in an easy way. I allow myself zero sugar soda if I want it and as long as I stay under my calorie goal, i pretty much donāt cut out things, I just make it at home and eat healthy clean foods. First two pics at 280 lbs. Really locked in on very low carb ,low calorie high steps everyday. Every single day Iāve been in a high kcal deficit, some days in an extreme. These are results from a 75 hard challenge my friend wanted to do so I joined her, starting June 25th. No gym just working a lot since Iām on summer break. Also cut my hair. Such low carbs and calorie for this long got me feeing lean as fuck boi. I was eating so much protein though, at least 150 g per day, in order to preserve lean muscle mass on the cut since I was on average eating 1200 cal a day with some days less. Wrapped up my 75 soft challenge last Friday (started June 1st) and honestly didnāt expect it to hit this hard. I kept it simple: 3L water/day, 45-min walks, intermittent fasting (7pm - 11am), no coffee until 1hr after waking, and 10 pages of a mindset book (went with āAtomic Habitsā and āEgo is the Enemyā). Dropped 6.1kg and trimmed 13.5cm off the waist, but what stuck with me more was the structure and clarity it gave my mornings. I didnāt go beast mode or anything extreme, just stayed consistent and didnāt BS myself. Now debating whether to roll into another round starting next Monday or customize it a bit. Stop altering 75 HARD - DO SOMETHING ELSE.
I've completed a year and please take this from me. This challenge has the clearest rules - either do something or not. People make it complicated because everyone is looking for tweaks. Well if you tweak it then it's not 75hard - it's a version that suits you. That's an inversion of what the challenge is envisaged to be. WE have to rise up to the challenge not being it down to our level. What this challenge allows: WATER - 3.8lt or 1 gallon is what you have to drink. Either you can or you can't. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR AND FIGURE YOUR UNIQUE WATER SITUATION OUT. Here a modification is allowed! This applies to everyone of any shape or size. DIET - The challenge doesn't care if you pick sun kissed berries. Just choose a diet and STICK TO IT FOR 75 DAYS. if you have the urge to double check if you messed up then most probably you did. Andy said he restarted the challenge when he took a bite of a freshly baked cookie. NO alcohol - Again absolutely clear. You had 1 sip by mistake then back to day 1. Hold yourself to that level. THIS IS NOT A WEIGHTLOSS CHALLENGE. WORKOUTS - DO 2 WITH A 3 HOUR INTERVAL BETWEEN THEM. it's designed this way so that we need to remotivate ourselves and it's not one and done! One can be inside and one outside where you are exposed to the elements. Yes both can be outside. NO, both can't be inside. In the original podcast Andy said to do the best you can - if all you can physically so is stand for 45 mins then that's your best. He also said to not be stupid - so if you are walking towards a tornado then maybe don't. Challenge doesn't trump life. Be smart! PIC - It's easy. You, a mirror and your phone. Book - On an average you will read 3 books of 250 pages each. Choose 3 that help your career or see what other people are reading. No you can't stop, drik and pick a new one mid way. This is an accountability challenge. Yes it's extreme. No you don't have to do it. But doing this means showing up for yourself, holding your own self accountable and removing all excuses between yourself and the goals your have set for your self. I kept failing at this for 3 whole years till I understood this fact and then I went on to complete the entire live hard year - 75hard, phase 1, 2 and 3. I'm 5.3", obese and a professor. All I'm trying to convey is this challenge is designed this way. While we can discuss it's demerits but that's not the point of doing the challenge at all. I did it! 75 Hard is DONE! š„³
For the last 75 days, I pushed and challenged myself mentally and physically like never before. Iāve actually never done anything remotely close to 75 Hard. Whenever I previously went for a walk or hike, I found it difficult to go up hills and it took the breath out of me. Jogs always felt like a hassle, etc. I wanted to stop the excuses. I didnāt want to do things halfway health wise anymore. Either I was in this the whole way or not at all. I decided to just go for it and I am incredibly glad that I did. Here I am on July 15th and the results that came from this for me are honestly hard for me to believe, but I put in the work and dedication to get to where I am now. 1. 41.2 pounds lost. I hit my weight loss goal of 40, very proud! 2. 790,211 steps walked (according to Apple Fitness). 3. 154 workouts, around 130 of those being walks. 4. 1,121 pages read over 5 books. 5. 9,600 plus ounces of water drank. 6. Zero ounces of alcohol. 7. Almost 8,000 grams of protein consumed. The rest of the foods were whole, low carb and I was in a calorie deficit. 8. 75 progress pictures. Also, mentally stronger! I have clarity for going forward and my daily life. Iām able to prioritize things that matter to me and not let time slip away so easily. Feeling healthy is so much more important than any number youāll see on the scale. As the days went by, it all of a sudden didnāt become about weight loss. I was just so dialed in on going after my specific goals one day at a time. Thankful for my friends & family during this for their encouragement! Iām hoping this can be an inspiration to so many others! Change is possible, but the effort must be consistent. Iām not a quitter, I can do hard things and this journey is proof of that. Iām not where I want to be, but I am 75 days closer today than I was on May 1st. And I am genuinely happy because of the changes Iāve made to my lifestyle and how Iāve completely turned things around. This is only the beginning. 75 Medium starts next Tuesday. Hello pals! I recently completed the 75 Hard program and Iām thrilled with the results! I wanted to share a bit of my journey and also ask for some advice. Iām 150 cm tall (4'11"). My starting weight was around 63 kg (139 lbs), and Iām now down to 53 kg (116 lbs)! Now that Iāve made that progress, Iām hoping to tone up a bit more, especially around my belly and thighs. The Numbers: - Start Date: Feb 10, 2025 - Start weight: 194 lbs (88 kg) - Height: 5ā4 (162 cm) - Current weight: 165 lbs (74 kg) - Goal weight: 150 lbs (68 kg) - Starting BMI: 33.3 (Obese Class I) - Current BMI: 28.3 (Overweight range) The Modified 75 Hard Rules: - I follow all 75 Hard rules with 2 modifications: - 1 Both workouts can be inside - 2 Audiobook ok - All other 75 hard rules apply (water, picture, diet, no alcohol, all of it) Diet: - 16:8 Intermittent Fasting - Modified whole30 diet (butter allowed in cooking is the only modification). I'd love to see them do an episode on 75 Hard
I recently learned about 75 Hard, a fitness challenge where, for 75 days, you have to follow a diet of your choosing with no cheating, do 2 45 minute workouts every day, read 10 pages of nonfiction a day, drink a gallon of water a day, abstain from alcohol, and take daily progress photos. If you miss just one thing, on one day, you start again from day one. The thing that stands out to me most of all, is that the exercise part of the challenge seems like the same disordered over exercising that screwed up the metabolism of most of the Biggest Loser contestants. To be fair the rules allow you to walk for your first workout and stretch or do yoga for your second. But if you're doing an hour and a half of any exercise every day, for 75 days straight, your body's going to get use to that much exercise. I'm guessing most people cut back on the exercise time after the challenge is over even if they're doing something easier but it seems more sustainable to build it up slowly and not do more that you expect to maintain for your lifetime. There's also the bragging rights for completing it because most people fail. Hearing most people fail should be a red flag to people that this isn't sustainable and they should do something else but I'm guessing it's the same strategy used by those dumb ads for apps for brain games that say only 5% of people with big iqs can beat this game. 75 Hard - halfway results (mtf trans)
75 hard is a challenge that got some popularity on tiktok. Among other things, you need to do 2x45 min workouts and drink a gallon of water every day for 75 days. I am halfway through. I think I am going to stop. I am not liking the results. Despite eating healthy, and as much as my stomach feels like it will allow, I've lost 5lbs in a little over a month (138 -> 133). I do not want to lose weight. Further, with the every day workouts, I find I am actually lifting less. My body never feels like it can recover enough to go hard, and I end up just doing lighter workouts way more often than I did on a more typical workout plan. The plus sides are that it motivated me to spend a lot more time rehabbing some old injuries than I had before, which feels good. And I am going to keep up with the water. I thought I drank a lot, until I started tracking it. Once I forced myself to get that much water down each day (I adjusted to 3.5L), my body got used to it and my skin feels amazing. My social life took a hit as I couldnāt join friends for drinks. Week 3-4: Finding a Rhythm My body started adapting. Soreness was less intense, and I began to enjoy my outdoor workouts, even in bad weather. My diet became second nature. I found creative ways to make healthy meals exciting. Week 5-6: Mental Gains Reading daily became a highlight. I was learning new things and felt my mindset shifting towards positivity and resilience. The progress pictures revealed noticeable physical changes. My energy levels soared, and I felt more confident. Week 7-8: Overcoming Obstacles Life threw some curveballs: work stress, family emergencies. Sticking to the plan required immense willpower. There were days I wanted to quit, but remembering why I started kept me going. Week 9-10: The Final Stretch By now, the habits were ingrained. I was more organized, productive, and mentally tough. Seeing the challenge through to the end felt incredibly rewarding. Results: Physical: Lost 15 pounds, gained muscle, and felt fitter than ever. My skin cleared up, and I slept better. Mental: Improved discipline, focus, and resilience. I felt a profound sense of accomplishment and self-belief. Completed 75 hard. Here's my 2 cents:
Hey folks, Just completed 75 hard with my wife. Thought I'd write out a little review for what it's worth. I always found reviews from others helpful so here it goes: WATER: Drinking a gallon of water just sucks. Especially for a smaller individual. Do your best to drink it throughout the day. I found myself chugging a half a gallon of water just before bed an embarrassingly often amount. I've lost a lot of sleep to peeing throughout the night haha. PICTURE: Take the picture in the morning. Very first thing you do. Roll outta bed, snap a pic. It's just too easy to neglect otherwise. And take good before photos. Side profile, front, back etc. I didn't do that... wish I did. READING: Read plenty of reviews before you choose a book. You cannot continue with another book before finishing your current one. So you wanna make sure you choose right so you're not stuck reading a book you cannot stand. WORKOUTS: Make the workouts really count when you can. I did much more walks than I'd like to admit... and i feel like my overall physical results suffered for it. If you are gunna just walk outside, try to make it a point not to really crush the workouts inside. Push yourself with your works outs and get the most out of this. You've likely never been in a better place nutritionally to achieve physical results. MEAL PLAN: This is an amazing opportunity to pair consistent workouts with nearly perfect nutrition; so make the most of it. Not saying that "counting macros" or "intermittent fasting" isn't a fair idea... but I am saying I think you'll get much better results out of being more intentional with your diet than that. My wife and I cut out all forms of sugar (other than fruits) and seed oils. Was it a huge pain the ass? oh yeah it was. Really makes you realize how much junk is crammed into everything we eat. But it feels great to know it can be done. Shout out to the Animal Based diet haha. ā RANDOM THOUGHTS: There are a lot of weird cultist level folks doing this challenge that make it their life's mission to find every word Andy has ever said in any form and construct a never ending list of sub-rules from them. My opinion? tune these people out. Stick to the 5 rules and if you ever find yourself considering taking the easy option on a grey rule... don't. That simple. The program is great, it's fun to say you completed it, and best of all it forces you to change your lifestyle in many positive ways. That said, I honestly can't imagine continuing past 75 days. Personally, I think a gallon of water is excessive for anyone and two workouts a day often forces you to sacrifice the intensity of one of the workouts. Outside of that, I'm very glad to have gotten in the habit of reading, working out, and eating right. Those things you gotta think of as a lifestyle change... not a challenge. Otherwise you'll give them up the moment you're done. Find an accountability partner. Made a huge difference doing it with my wife. Woulda been much more difficult doing it solo! FNC Rekkles went from diamond 2 75 LP to challenger 1163 LP in around 11 days
Fnatic lost to RNG the 21st of October and Rekkles began to play soloq the day after. He has been really hard grinding and played a lot. After 11 days he climbed all the way from diamond 2 75 LP to challenger 1163 LP, currently rank 2. Here is his journey. What a beast. EDIT: He is now at 1201 LP, currently rank 1. 2 points above Kirei sama!
