Ashwagandha has fucked my emotion processing capability
Started taking ashwa 2 months ago to combat my mood as I was quite prone to getting depressed. Things went well for a while but recently ,there were a couple of devastating things that took place in my life which have left me broken inside but somehow, I’m quite calm and unable to process an ounce of emotion towards the same. Have gotten non-chalant and broke up with gf after having this alpino ashwagandha peanut butter
But seriously though, have been using this alpino peanut butter after pintola's chocolate one and realised this is much better with way more cleaner ingredients. It has a lot of crunchy peanut crumbs in it too which i really like. But my favorite thing about it is it's consistency. The pintola one used to get very dry at the bottom and all the oil used to come up on the surface making the texture and consistency very uneven and difficult to spread on bread and mix in my oats. This one does not have that problem + i don't really know gimmicky the Ashwagandha thing is but i can definitely notice better sleep on my samsung watch (Deep Sleep + REM Sleep & Sleep Consistency). submitted by /u/JealousAd6947 to r/Fitness_India [link] [comments]

ashwagandha made me feel nothing and I think I know why
took ashwagandha for about 6 weeks bc everyone on here swears by it for stress. first two weeks felt calmer, great. by week 4 I was an emotional flatline. not anxious anymore but also not motivated, not excited about anything, just... neutral. stopped and within a week the drive came back dug into the actual mechanism bc I have a comp neuro background and this shit bugged me. ashwagandha is a positive allosteric modulator of GABA-A receptors, similar mechanism to benzos just weaker. and GABA doesn't discriminate between "bad stress" and the arousal that drives motivation. your mesolimbic dopamine pathway gets dampened right alongside cortisol. so if your actual problem was dopaminergic (low drive, can't start shit, executive dysfunction) and not genuinely elevated cortisol, you just suppressed the one system still trying to get you moving the fucked up part is most people never checked whether cortisol was their actual issue. felt stressed, saw ashwagandha reccommended everywhere, assumed. wrong target wrong compound anyone here tracked their actual cognitive performace on vs off ashwagandha? submitted by /u/Bulky-Possibility216 to r/Biohackers [link] [comments]

Ashwagandha almost killed my liver – bilirubin hit 50 mg/dL, severe jaundice & itching for months. My warning story (21M)
21M here. Had bad social anxiety, shyness, low self-esteem. Someone said Ashwagandha (Carbamide Forte 500 mg) would help with stress & confidence. Started 500 mg daily, sometimes 1000 mg. Took it straight for ~4 months. Then disaster. Severe fatigue → constant heartburn → whole-body itching so bad I scratched feet, scalp, hands until I had open wounds & scars. Skin underneath was yellow. Jaundice hit hard. Bilirubin went to ~50 mg/dL (normal submitted by

Taking Ashwagandha every single day is the worst way to use it
I see posts every day from people saying Ashwagandha made them feel like an emotional brick wall. If you’re taking it daily and feeling like a depressed robot, here is the reality of why that’s happening and how to actually use this herb without the side effects. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen designed to lower cortisol. You need some cortisol to feel motivation, excitement, and drive. If you over-suppress your cortisol, you hit a state called anhedonia. You aren't calm you're just empty. In rare cases, this flatness can spiral into suicidal thoughts because your brain's reward system basically goes offline. If you want the benefits (testosterone boost, lower stress, better sleep) without the mental fog follow these steps: The 5:2 Cycle Do NOT take this 365 days a year. Your receptors need a break. I take it Monday to Friday, then skip the weekend. Or you can do 3 weeks on, 1 week off. Start slowly with 300mg of KSM-66. If you feel good, stay there. More is not better, more is just number. Take it with fat. Ashwagandha is fat-soluble. If you take it on an empty stomach, you’re mostly just pooping out expensive powder and irritating your gut (which causes that nauseous feeling). submitted by /u/Impossible-Section46 to r/Supplements [link] [comments]

Ashwagandha anhedonia is real. Why are we still recommending it like it's candy?
I see people on here suggesting Ashwagandha for every minor stress issue, but the more I read, the more I see people reporting total emotional numbness (anhedonia) after long-term use. Is the "energy boost" worth the risk of feeling like a robot? Are there any adaptogen blends that actually fix the cortisol spike without killing your personality, or is it better to just stick to cold plunges and caffeine? submitted by /u/Optimal_Condition_18 to r/Biohackers [link] [comments]

I took ashwagandha and now my brain has the audacity to just… chill?
Okay so, not to sound dramatic, but my mind used to run like a bootleg AM radio: constant static, overlapping thoughts, and the emotional equivalent of someone whispering “you suck” every 5 minutes. That was just... the default. Then I started taking ashwagandha (because Reddit told me to, obviously), and now it’s like someone found the damn user manual to my nervous system. I caught myself the other day just sitting in traffic. Not spiraling about that awkward thing I said in 2018. Not rehearsing fake arguments. Just... sitting there. Breathing. Staring at a tree. Who the hell does that? Even walking into the gym feels different. I used to arrive already mentally shadowboxing my intrusive thoughts. Now I just warm up, lift stuff, and go home without narrating my entire internal trauma reel. Wild. It’s not like I feel superhuman or “healed” or anything more like someone quietly turned down the background anxiety volume from an 8 to a 3. And now I keep wondering: Was I always this internally fried and just thought that was normal? Anyway. Curious if anyone else has had that weird “wait... am I actually calm right now?” moment after trying this stuff. Or am I just finally catching up to how regular people feel? submitted by /u/veggiepuppets to r/Supplements [link] [comments]

Ashwagandha Destroyed Me (In the Best Way Possible)
I know this sub’s seen better days and Derek’s ghosted us, but I’m serious about this post, no meme, no troll, just raw input and self-reflection. Length and girth at the bottom, don’t worry. So here’s the deal: I’ve been taking ashwagandha daily for 4 months straight, no breaks. Started it right after a breakup. Was supposed to marry this girl. Shit fell apart. Now 4 months in, I’m emotionally numb. But not in a depressed, doom way, I mean numb like a weapon. I don’t feel much, but I’m locked in. I work. I lift. I study. I pray. I eat clean. That’s it. Yeah, it’s boring. But I feel untouchable. I don’t have highs. I don’t have lows. I just move. Real moment: There’s this girl in my project group at uni. Fully degenerate. Invites me to her place to “study.” I walk in like a robot. She’s clearly trying to escalate. I know what time it is, but I feel nothing. Literally just sit there and let her talk, and holy shit the things she proudly revealed, hook ups with half the uni, Tinder binges, casual sex with other degenerates. I’m just thinking, “What even is this world?” But here’s the crazy part, I just dap her up like a bro when I leave. No temptation. No post-nut urge. Just zero emotion. Every girl I talk to? Treated like a homie. Nothing more. No interest, no plans, no strings. I used to be a lover boy. Still got it. Great physique, dialed discipline, self-respect intact. But something about this numbness made me realize: Hookup culture is trash. Self-control is elite. And the best protection I have is emotional detachment. I’ve been told to “hop off the ashwagandha” and “let your emotions come back.” But honestly? Fuck that shit. I don’t want them back. Love, empathy, vulnerability, it’s a liability in this generation. Not saying I’m better. I’m a sinner like anyone else. But I genuinely feel like this cold, focused version of me is the most dangerous, disciplined, and faith-driven I’ve ever been as gay as it sounds. Just wanted to share and hear your takes. Ashwagandha results after 2 months (WITH BLOOD TESTS)
Hi, I'd like to share my results after 2 months of ashwagandha supplementation. I've been taking it as a test booster and for the alleged anxiolytic properties. During this test period I haven't change anything in my life style, diet or training. I just kept my usual routine. Supplement: KSM-66 Dosage: 600mg per day, before going to sleep Objectives: Increase testosterone, reduce anxiety Background: Male, close to 40yo, 6.1ft (186cm), Office job Training: Recreational weightlifting 3 times/week, I've been actively weightlifting for 15 years. Diet: fairly healthy but not really strict Because of my specific objectives, the blood tests are focused on hormones. At the end, I decided to add some liver tests as well SHBG. BLOOD TESTS RESULTS (samples taken in the morning, 9am) TEST (ref. range) BEFORE AFTER 60 days Testosterone (300-1000) 545 ng/dL 683 (+25%) Free Testosterone (15-50) 19 pg/mL 26.5 (+40%) Estradiol (11.3-43.2) 22.1 pg/mL 27.5 (+24%) Prolactin (86.0-324.0) 240 µU/mL 209.0 (-15%) LH (1.70-8.60) 7.39 mU/mL 9.13 (+24%) FSH (1.50-12.40) 4.19 mU/mL 4.79 (+14%) SHBG (18.3-54.1) -- 39.50 (nmol/L ) Bilirubin total ( submitted by

Ashwagandha fucked my life and I’m on the verge of my death everday
I took Ashwagandha for just a week four years ago, and ever since, my life has never been the same. I don’t know exactly what happened, but it feels like something in my brain switched off, and I’ve been stuck in this state ever since. No matter what I do, I can’t get back to how I used to feel. What Changed? • Emotional Numbness: I don’t feel emotions like I used to. Happiness, excitement, love, even sadness and anger.everything feels dulled or completely absent. It’s like my emotional range has been flattened. • Anhedonia: I’ve lost the ability to enjoy things. Music, hobbies, food, socializing—none of it feels rewarding anymore. I just go through the motions. • Erectile dysfunction : complete erectile dysfunction from 4 years • Low Motivation & Drive: I struggle to care about anything. Work, relationships, self-improvement—I don’t feel any internal push to do things, even though I logically know I should. • Cognitive Issues: My thinking is still functional, but I feel like I’ve lost some mental sharpness. I don’t have full-blown brain fog, but my thoughts don’t feel as clear or engaging as before. • Possible Gut Issues? I don’t have obvious stomach problems, but I suspect my gut microbiome was affected. Maybe this whole thing is somehow connected to that. What I’ve Tried & What I Know So Far • Medical Tests: I’ve done multiple tests, and everything seems “normal”: • Testosterone & Thyroid – Both are in a healthy range. • EEG, Chest, and Heart Tests – No abnormalities found. • ESR (Inflammation Marker) – Slightly elevated (21), but doctors didn’t seem concerned. • Mirtazapine (Antidepressant): I took it for a week, and to my surprise, I actually felt significantly better while on it. But I stopped, and now I’m wondering if I should have stayed on it. • Diet, Exercise, Supplements: I’ve tried cleaning up my diet, working out, and experimenting with various supplements, but nothing has really helped. submitted by /u/Massive_W to r/AshwagandhaSyndrome [link] [comments]

Ashwagandha ruined 2 years of my life
sorry for my English, I'm using a translator because I'm from Poland. For the past 2 years I've been taking ashwagandha from different companies from 500 to 900 mg every day. Since then until today I have zero libido, no will to live, dopamine is practically non-existent because there are no things that would make me happy. Everything I do, e.g. watch a movie or read a book, I do by force just to pass the time. I have problems falling asleep every day and I wake up several times a night. You could say I'm a wreck. I explained these symptoms to myself by working night shifts, training hard and overtraining, stress at work or poor nutrition. I tried everything and nothing. It wasn't until 3 weeks ago that I accidentally read that it could be ashwagandha. So I stopped taking it right away. After 5 days I got an erection for the first time in 2 years and I felt a surge of dopamine when I turned on my favorite music. It was like this for 2 days and for the last 2 weeks I feel even worse than when I took it. These are definitely withdrawal symptoms so I would like to ask how long it can last? 4 weeks? half a year? I will add that I am 27 years old, I exercise a lot, I have good sleeping habits, I have no addictions and I eat healthily. submitted by /u/Sufficient-Pick6449 to r/ASHWAGANDHA [link] [comments]

Rhonda Patrick here. I just released an interview with Layne Norton. We dive deep on why everyone should take creatine, why he isn't concerned about diet soda, seed oils, protocols for training after poor sleep, why he's "very bullish" on Ashwagandha, and controversies around intermittent fasting.
Layne and I just released a 3-hour episode that I think you'll really enjoy. My main takeaway? It's easy to get caught up in overthinking and analysis, but real progress comes from action—putting in the work, lifting hard, and nailing the basics. If you get those right, you're 90% of the way there. But if you're aiming for that extra 5-10%, we dive into that too, including why Layne's protein intake goes beyond the standard 1.6g/kg, despite what some research suggests. I hope you find value in this episode—it complements Andrew's previous episodes with Layne. submitted by /u/rperciav to r/HubermanLab [link] [comments]

Beware of Ashwagandha
I’d like to preface this post by saying Ashwagandha can work miracles on the majority of people without severe side effects, but can be very troublesome for others. I’ve fully recovered and now I’d just like to bring to light what many people won’t tell you about Ashwagandha. A few weeks back I cycled off of Ashwagandha for the second time, and started experiencing PSSD symptoms such as severe anhedonia (complete inability to feel emotions), ED, all time low libido, and an inability to sleep at night due to constant restlessness and itching. I started doing research to find what was wrong with me and once I got passed the endless mainstream praise of Ashwaganda, I found a ton of stories of people experiencing the same thing, and their symptoms lasted months or even years. My symptoms reverted in about 3 weeks, but I’m also 18 and live a healthy lifestyle which I think accelerated it a lot. This post isn’t meant to be negative, just a warning that since Ashwaganda mimics the effects of an SSRI, and messes with serotonin receptors, it can and will cause PSSD in some individuals. submitted by /u/eheinschh to r/Supplements [link] [comments]

My grandfather had been taking ashwagandha daily for last 70+ years
From a young age my grandfather had been taking a mix 7 of herbs which he says boosts your brain and immunity and well being. The mix has been passed down to him from generation and he swears by it. I only know one of the incidents of it which I ashwagandha and not the other. He is currently 85 and the healthiest person in his age group i have met. Even sometimes I or my dad might forget something important but he won't all out important documents are with him as he will remember where he kept them with exact presention. Even when he goes to doctor for checkup they always comment at how his vitals are great and better then people half his age. He gets the herbs from a local herbal/ayurvedic store owner who grows his own herbs in his farm in the Himalayas and then makes it powder to sell it. If anyone wants I will post the full 7 list of incidents when I visit him in a few days. He also follows the rule of no outside food or drink and 45min walk after dinner. He is also vegetarian from birth and has never eaten any kind of meat or even eggs and drinks 2 cups of masala chai daily with many spices(ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, holy basil ). The masala tea is tasty though Also heavy breakfast and lunch and a light dinner Edit:- so I asked him and here the mix 1-Stem of plant Tinospora 2-bindii 3-indian gooseberry 4-ashwagandha 5-Liquorice(not take if u have diabetes) 6-Asparagus racemosus 7-Long Pepper submitted by /u/FearlessRestaurant98 to r/NooTopics [link] [comments]
