Convenience Store Woman
Slim, original novel about a young Japanese woman who finds fulfillment in a way most people would consider absurd. She’s odd, unintentionally funny, and not at all cool—at least, not as people around her would define the term. Americans and/or Canadians looting convenience store in Puerto Vallarta
Don’t mean to profile anyone, the accents sound American and one is holding a Canada flag bag. Some seemingly returned what they stole only because the local recording is exposing them. To be fair, the city was shut down and as tourists, they needed to eat but I saw other tourist redditors who asked neighbors for food instead of defaulting to this submitted by /u/Wooden_Worry3319 to r/PublicFreakout [link] [comments]

Has anyone read convinience store woman? What are your thoughts on it?
basically the title, this is the first book I've read in a long time thats kinda perplexed me and left me not knowing what to think. I do relate to it a lot especially when she says the convenience store "makes her human" and how she was downgraded from convenience store worker to a female member of the species when she got with shirahara, who I also relate with but I feel like is the opposite side of the same coin as furukura. I feel like there's a pretty deep meaning here that either I'm not picking up or just isn't as deep as I thought it was. Something outside of the core message that it's not necessarily bad to be obsessed with something to a degree that ostracizes you from normal society. like my gut is telling me there's something pretty profound here but I'm just not picking up on what exactly that is maybe something to do with how she comes to terms with the fact that she's not a convinience store worker because she wants to look like a normal member of society but that she actually just is a convinience store worker in her soul and that's fine. what were your thoughts on It? submitted by /u/Electronic_d0cter to r/books [link] [comments]

About the Convenience Store..
I'm the kind of person that gets caught up in spaciffics. In FWWM, Phillip Jefferies specified that he was in the room ABOVE the Convenience Store. We do visit this room in The Return and even see both Coopers enter this room. My question is, what's the significance of this room being ABOVE the Convenience Store? Like, why isn't the Convenience Store itself the important location? Could there be symbolism in the fact that they need to ascend to get there? And a follow-up question.. A Store that's convenient for whom? submitted by /u/ThatGuyBoobyShot to r/twinpeaks [link] [comments]

Convenience Store Woman is one of the most interesting books I've read so far
I've been wanting to get into Japanese literature for some time so when I saw Convenience Store Woman at my university's library I didn't hesitate to get into it. Needless to say this won't be my last Japanese novel, nor my last book by Sayaka Murata. From the very beginning, the book captured my interest. I was invested in Keiko and her lifestyle. Keiko is your average person, she is not famous, she works at a convenience store, she is not married and she doesn't have any ambitions. She feels content with her life but that changes when she feels the pressure from the expectations that are projected to her - the expectations to become normal. Keiko finds herself struggling to fit in society's standards about women. She ought to get married, have kids, find a better job, be more sociable...She's torn between her own wants and the expectations from her close people. At times, I saw myself in her for I too have wondered whether I fit to the image for people around my age or not. But what is "normal"? Is there any specific way of living that we can deem "normal"? And how can we shape people according to our standards? The book was fast paced and vivid. Following the narration through Keiko's inner thoughts added a more personal tone to the setting. There were many passages that provided food for thought and the writing was both charming and bittersweet. The characters felt like real people and there were some standouts (for the better or worse). Keiko was really complex. She wanted to live up to their expectations, only to realize that her own desires clashed with society's norms. There is one male character whom I deeply disliked but even his characterisation was very interesting and I oddly found myself enjoying reading about him and Keiko (especially when she put him in his place). I'm very happy for reading this book. It is very thought provoking and it reminds us that there's no "normal" lifestyle. Society loves putting us in boxes and labels but we should learn to prioritize ourselves instead of trying to fit in others' standards. We are the employees in our own convenience stores. submitted by /u/-greek_user_06- to r/books [link] [comments]

[S3E8] The convenience store
While I think I've more or less understand this episode, this scene still raises questions. What does it have to do with what's going on? Before that, we saw the nuclear bomb launch and how the Experiment gave birth to spirits, followed by this scene. I'm sure they must be connected because later in the episode Fireman saw all these events in order on TV. We know that this is a place in the real world that can move into a black lodge for a gathering of spirits. What were the woodsmans doing the gathering for? submitted by /u/upr1ce to r/twinpeaks [link] [comments]

Bought moldy bread from a convenience store and when I found out and wanted to switch it, the person on the cash register wouldn't let me
Bought bread from a convenience store and when I wanted to use it 2 hours later I found out it had some mold so I went back to the convenience store intending to switch it but the person at the register told me I can't because the bread was 2 weeks past its expiry so she thought I wanted to switch old bread I already owned with fresh bread Apparently the bread man that switches bread old bread every week somehow missed 1 bread twice which turned out to be the bread I chose 🤦‍♂️ submitted by /u/kingveo to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

Convenience store owners, need some advice!
I’m going to be taking over a failing convenience business. Trying to use technology to make the transition better. Thinking to bring bookkeeping in house- wave apps suitable? I’m thinking one end of month entry to keep income statement. Gusto for payroll. Although $60/month is cheap. Accountant charges $250 and does bookkeeping and payroll. Commercial business liability insurance is acuity. Backoffice software? Not sure maybe Cstore office from petrosoft but open to anything that tracks inventory, manages pricing and helps prevent theft. What else am I missing? submitted by /u/cooltaj to r/smallbusiness [link] [comments]

Is buying a convenience store a good idea?
I’m thinking about refinancing my home for some cash and find a small business to take over as a side business for some good cash flow without devoting too much effort to manage it. I checked online and found I could buy an established c-store for just under 100k which is far less than how much I can cash out from my mortgage. Are c-stores profitable and can I trust the sales revenue stated on the ads? How much usually is the margin for c-stores? If there are other good investment alternatives please tell me. I want to find some small business that wouldn’t cost me too much time (for example hiring someone as the store manager or cashier) and can generate healthy cash flow. Probably about 5-6k per month as net income would be good enough. submitted by /u/AfterBee3707 to r/smallbusiness [link] [comments]
