Life after Mounjaro feels impossible right now
I lost 100lbs in 2025 using Mounjaro, and honestly… it was the best year of my life. Everything just felt easier. My brain was quiet, I wasn’t constantly thinking about food, and for the first time ever I felt in control. Life just felt good. After losing that weight, I thought I should try doing it “on my own”, especially because of the price increase, it just wasn’t affordable for me anymore. I stopped taking Mounjaro in January and started working with a coach instead. She’s genuinely amazing, but over the last three months I haven’t lost anything. I’ve only just managed to maintain, and even that has felt unbelievably hard. What used to feel effortless now feels like a constant battle. Getting myself to the gym takes so much more out of me, and saying no to things like cake at work, biscuits, or even a glass of wine feels like actual torture. All I think about is food. On Mounjaro, my mind felt calm and quiet. Now it feels loud again, like food is always there in the background. It almost feels like I was shown what a “normal” brain is like, and then it was taken away, and I’m really struggling with that. I’m starting to think about trying Wegovy, and stopping coaching, partly because of the cost, but also because I feel like I’m not making any progress and I hate the feeling that I’m letting her down. Has anyone else experienced this after coming off Mounjaro? Did you try Wegovy, and how did it compare? Or has anyone managed to adjust without medication? For context, I still have a long way to go even after losing 100lbs, and I’m so determined not to go back to where I was before. This has been a really difficult start to 2026, so I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences or advice 🤍 submitted by /u/Practical_Patient_63 to r/mounjarouk [link] [comments]

Mounjaro will humble you
Guys, I’ve lost 15kgs on my first dose of mounjaro, I’m aware that most of it is water weight but I’m just amazed with how it’s been working so far. Honestly though it will humble you, I’m now a retired big back 😂 I used to have days on Sundays where I’d eat like 4 plates. Tell me why this Sunday I’ve eaten a quarter of my plate 😭 when I went to force down the remaining half, I had to run into the washroom to vomit it all out. Am I upset? Yes definitely but am I grateful to not have indulged that much? Yes absolutely. Heres to mounjaro humbling me every single day including Sunday roast days 😭😂😂 submitted by /u/Jaded_Volume3283 to r/MounjaroAus [link] [comments]

Mounjaro is killing my mom...
As great as it is seeing everyone get skinny and living out their lives. My mom is currently on palliative care for the last month from being on mounjaro for 3 years. She lost 120lbs from being 280 and is skin and bones now unable to stand up and walk. Her appetite is shot and unable to eat solid food. They put a iv nutritional infusion tube in her chest a few days ago because she is severely malnourished, cognitively unaware, brain fog, cant keep food down. She developed acute kidney failure and acute CHF but those are currently stable for the moment. She also has large gallstones that they can't address yet because she's took weak. She also has large amounts of fluid in her chest that they have to keep draining out. They're saying it's not from her acute CHF or acute kidneys and are still trying to figure out whats causing it. They are putting in a feeding tube tomorrow while they check her thyroid for cancer. She was on 10mg then15mg. She went into a diabetic coma last August because she was on the lowest dosage of insulin and didn't check and her glucose dropped to 20. Her vitals were perfect. Me and the rest of my family have been telling her to get off this stupid drug because she wasn't happy with being 167lbs. We kept fighting with her to stop but she kept pushing because she wanted to lose a few more pounds to the point where she was unable to get up to go to the bathroom, fainting all the time, had a texture issues with food. This whole time her primary care doctor didn't intervene to lower her dosage after this event took place nor bothered to schedule a physical visit with her to see her wasting away. There was a complete lack of oversight on her part especially she's over the age of 65. She kept taking 15mg until the middle of December where she ended up being hospitalized twice before being where she's at now because she wanted to take the easy way out. The GI specialist that we're working with is seeing an increase rise in hospital treatments for GLP-1. She is trapped only able to communicate in memories or facial expressions. I could see in her face at the hospital today how defeated and sad she was because she knew how fucked she was. She literally had a break down while I was giving her back message. She still wants to fight and me and my family will until no other option is available. If anyone has suggestions or resources that can possibly get my mom off of deaths door feel free to leave a comment. submitted by /u/FrellingHazmot to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]

I talked with my doctor about Mounjaro patients. She told me that there are two types:
Those who use the potential of the tamed metabolic cues, rework their entire diet, exercise and go full ideal bodyfat. Those who are happy they do not overeat so much, eat still unhlealthy in smaller portion, drop to overweight or upper bound of normal. I think I sometimes see misunderstanding between the two groups on this forum. submitted by /u/ownworldman to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]

My sister is a dietitian and she emailed me about why I should stop taking mounjaro
She's a registered dietitian. Specializes in intuitive eating so when I told her I started mounjaro 10mg, she got really agitated I think. She sent this long email about how I'm "medicalizing my body image issues," how the long-term effects aren't known, how I can get the same results through a bit more effort. She cited like 40 studies. It was basically a thesis statement. Funny thing is that I have done a lot of this stuff. Years of therapy. Countless diets. Reading all the books. I know more about intuitive eating than she probably does. And none of it fixed the biological drive that made me hungry all the time. submitted by /u/Dheeruj to r/GLP1ResearchTalk [link] [comments]

3 months on Mounjaro, 12 kilos down - my take on a few things I never saw coming. :/
It’s going to be a long read ahead. I’ve been on Mounjaro for 3 months now. I started in October 2025 and have lost around 12–13 kg so far as of Jan 14, 2026. Dosing history has been like this- 4 weeks at 2.5 mg 4 weeks at 5 mg 2 weeks at 7.5 mg 2 weeks back to 5 mg The escalation was horrendous. I was doing fine initially but on the 2nd 7.5 mg week, my body clearly said no. Weird cold intolerance (at 27°C in a humid tropical climate) with extreme fatigue, zero appetite, heavy limbs, lightheadedness and this constant feverish feeling. I missed my period too. Mentally I felt flat and hollow. No motivation, no interest in daily life. Almost like a relapse of clinical depression but very different in the quality of symptoms. When I spoke to my endocrinologist, her advice was for me to be more mindful and disciplined, walk 10k steps/day, hit 100 g protein. Her undertone screamed 'discomfort is part of weight loss' and tbh I felt judged and invalidated, as if all this were a personal failing rather than something physiological. I could barely take a shower without feeling fatigued. I sought a second opinion immediately. That second doctor felt the symptoms were due to sudden suppression of the HPO/HPA axis from rapid dose escalation and advised stopping 7.5 mg and stepping back to 5 mg. Within 2 weeks of that, I felt like myself again. My energy returned. I finally had signs of ovulation as well. All this had happened over Christmas+New Year's Eve, and it destroyed me and my social life fr. Still recuperating. I know for a fact that suffering can be personal, but the weightloss suffering? God, it is indeed brutal. It’s so hard to articulate and harder to be believed. Even family doesn’t get it, and they seem to make it worse intentionally or not. They think I'm being extra for taking the medication and that I should just run more and eat less. Apparently taking Mounjaro = being lazy. Also, I've noticed how when I was heavier, everyone felt entitled to police how and what I ate framing it as CONCERN/ HELPFUL ADVICE but as I started losing weight, that commentary quietly disappeared. That contrast made it obvious- it was never about my wellbeing just judgment decorated as guidance. People also now have the audacity to say - OH, BUT YOU WEREN'T SO HEAVY TO BEGIN WITH? despite having commented on my body for years. Even as I type this, it feels emotional because only those who’ve lived through it really understand this part. As long as you’re fat... your body is a topic. Once that changes, you don’t suddenly become celebrated. You just become invisible. No I'm not talking about invalidation, just about how people suddenly stop engaging in the same CONCERN/ HELPFUL ADVICE. And all of a sudden, you learn who actually wishes you well. Reddit played a muchhh bigger role than I expected in this journey. Reading other people’s lived experiences is what made me question whether my dose escalation was appropriate in the first place. Yes, my doctor followed protocol, but this experience was what taught me that guidelines don’t replace listening to patient feedback. Prioritizing weight loss over quality of life was a mistake for me. I’m soooo glad I found this safe space where I can express myself honestly, whether that’s positive or negative. It’s a strangely wholesome place to land, especially when so much of this journey feels like a solitary often an ugly battle with yourself. Being able to name that without being dismissed has mattered to me more than I expected. 🥺 Posting all this here in case it helps someone else feel less dismissed, less moralized and less alone. 🤍 submitted by /u/New-Cry-9252 to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]

Vocês acham que essas canetas vão fugir do seu propósito (Tratamento de diabetes e tratamento da obesidade off label) e se tornar somente mais uma ferramenta para atingir o ¨físico perfeito¨? submitted by /u/Holiday_Animator_710 to r/Maromba [link] [comments]

1 year in Mounjaro and 83lbs down
I have had an obese BMI for the last 10 years and now I am finally considered just “overweight” and am so close to being “normal” weight. And I know BMI is not the best measure, but I’m still excited!! submitted by /u/carefree-and-happy to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]

Mounjaro gave me my life back - 73 lbs gone, and I’m finally me again
I started at over 250 pounds. Today, I’m 177. I could cry just writing that, because for so long, I didn’t think I’d ever get back here. I went through chemo, radiation, 6 months of infusion chemo, a double mastectomy, 30 days of radiation, 6 more months of oral chemo, and a full year of immunotherapy. My body was wrecked. My hormones were out of control. I was inflamed, exhausted, and constantly hungry, like I could never get full. I tried everything. I blamed myself. I felt broken. And then I found Mounjaro. This medication saved my life. It gave me my sanity back. It quieted that constant mental noise about food. It helped rebalance the hormones my body just wasn’t producing anymore, just like a diabetic needs insulin when their pancreas stops working, we need help when our hunger and fullness signals stop working. It’s not cheating. It’s not a shortcut. It’s medicine. Since starting Mounjaro, I’ve lost 73 pounds. I eat more protein. I drink more water. I walk more. I sleep better. But more than anything, I feel like myself again. I’m present with my kids. I’m active. I’m hopeful. I’m me. To anyone out there struggling, please know this: it is not your fault. You are not weak. You deserve to feel good in your body. And with the right support, healing is possible. I’ll shout it from the rooftops: Mounjaro works. And I am so, so grateful. submitted by /u/carefree-and-happy to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]

Mounjaro - 12 months later
Memories are nice to see. It's cool when they pop up as highlights on your phone, as half the things I have done in the past week are forgotten, let alone the past year. This one surprised me a little though as it was a month after my first jab, and I was around 20 pounds lighter than where I was when I began. There's an element of hope in the eyes from the first picture, but also a beaten and broken man, and a man that had been mainly broken by himself. Roll on to 12 months later and it's a genuine privilege to feel the way that I do now. I just feel like a normal person again, able to walk down the street whilst being worried somebody is looking at me or laughing at me for being the size that I was. I don't think people quite understand that insecurity of being obese until you're there; These days I can just be invisible to both everybody else and those horrid thoughts that used to plague me and encourage social anxiety. Keep up the journey, it's worth the destination. Total loss so far: 70kg submitted by /u/CharlieBravoQuebec to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]

My Mounjaro journey has come to an end…
5’7, SW: 244.5lbs CW: 161.7lbs. 11 months later. I did it. My ex saw me the other day and didn’t recognise me (literally) lol it was very surreal. Funny how I kindve started this journey cause of I was in a low place partly because of him and when I got that reaction of shock and him telling me how beautiful I looked it didn’t make me feel good. It didn’t hit how I thought it would hit. Losing weight ironically made me realise how little your looks have to do with how you feel inside. I think I took my last shot around a month ago. I have gallstones from losing weight (please be careful during this journey it’s quite common) so I still have trouble eating so I think I’m still losing weight but I don’t want to lose anymore. I want to gain muscle back. My appetite has also started to return which is nice and when I get my gallbladder out I will finally be able to eat properly and enjoy food again! Please see my other posts if you’re interested in my journey. Good luck everyone and goodbye ♥️ it’s been a pleasure. Thank you Mounjaro 🙏🏽 submitted by /u/Optimal_Abrocoma8680 to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]

We were all fooled
First off—I'm NOT blaming Mounjaro. My story started three and half years ago—and 267 pounds ago. Today's weight 131 In the first year on Mounjaro, I lost about 12 pounds. By the first part of year two, I’d lost another 15. Slow but steady. But in the middleyear 2 , the weight started falling off fast—30 pounds in two months, then another drop, and another. Eventually, I became underweight. That’s when my doctor told me to stop the medication. That was eight months ago. But I kept losing weight—too much, too fast. Everyone assumed it was still just the lingering effects of Mounjaro. Long story short? It wasn’t. It was stage 3 colon cancer. Mounjaro masked the real cause of my rapid weight loss. Looking back, there were red flags. I brought them up with my doctor, but even they chalked it up to side effects. Please—listen to your body. Even if the numbers make sense on paper, trust how you feel submitted by /u/rrocha1 to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]

Mounjaro = no sex anymore?
My wife and me (both 53) are on munjaro since last June. She is on 5mg and has lost around 40 lbs, I’m on 10 mg and have lost around 50 lbs. Before we started with mounjaro we had a low but regular sex life, that was manly slowed down by us both feeling not comfortable with our bodies. Since mounjaro we have developed in different directions: I feel comfortable with my body and sexy the first time in my life and I’m really horny all the time, while my wife has no sex drive at all since taking mounjaro, even though she looks marvellous (what I have told her on occasions). She says she feels like don’t wanting sex at all since taking mounjaro. So is the price for no longer being fat the End of an active sex life? submitted by /u/Reasonable_hint to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]

5 Things I'd Tell Anyone Starting Mounjaro Today
I am 12 weeks in and thought I'd share. Keep in mind these are all personal findings based around my journey and my goals. Also, I am still just a little baby newbie but I know more folks are starting every day. 1. Be patient. I committed to this for at least a year barring major intolerances. The first few months are just building up the drug in your system and it's a bumpy ride while that happens. As my body adjusts to this drug, my entire relationship with food has had to be reworked several times (so far) as did the way I take care of myself. Personally, I am so much more interested in how I live at this amount of food and water than any weight I'm losing. I intend this to jump start how I care for myself for the rest of my life. I can afford to let the process take the time it takes. 2. HYDRATE. SO MUCH WATER. I had to completely rework my hydration strategy to ensure I got all the water I needed and all the electrolytes. I bought a Stanley and became a dedicated sipper, and I make sure I get two packs of Ultima electrolytes per day plus a coconut water and a protein shake. 3. Fiber and protein are king. I restructured what I eat to avoid both constipation and muscle loss. As I said in point 1, I am paving the way for the rest of my life here so I want to be sustainable. I realized the hard way (ouch) that I had little to no fiber in my diet. If I slip for a few days, I may give myself a dose of Miralax as a precaution. Travel is particularly hard. The key is paying attention to my intake and being intentional about making it happen - and knowing what to do when I don't quite make it. 4. Portion control > calorie control. I had no idea how dramatically I was over-eating until I couldn't anymore. I ignored my body so my pattern was to starve and then binge. In week one, the meal I ate on day 3 made me regret every life decision ever. It was brutal. After that, I started paying attention to hunger cues and learning to feel the difference between satiety, fullness, and just plain sick. I did this by eating a bit, stopping, considering, then eating a bit more until I got the right amount each time. For me, it's about 5 ounces per meal. This process took until about week 6. (See tip #1. It was so frustrating!) Then I bought 5 ounce cups from Amazon and started meal prepping like a boss. Once I did this, weight started pouring off and I felt MUCH better and way more in the driver's seat of this journey. 5. Don't compare. My friend who started at the same time has lost a BUNCH more weight than I have. I had some feelings about that but as I said above, I am paving the way for the rest of my life here so I am more focused on my process than on the weight. And all bodies are different. Still. It's tough sometimes. Note: I am at 2.5mg and have no intention of going up so long as I am getting slow and steady results and no food noise. I haven't seen many folks do that around here. It's not a tip but it's a thing to note because I may have had less trouble if I'd gone up in dosage sooner. The consequences from overeating at higher doses might have punished me straight. I wrote this up because I've referred several people to the clinic I go to and I wanted them to have it. Then I thought I might put this on our reddit for everyone. What wisdom would you add to this? I know all our journeys are deeply personal and I'm still early in mine. I'd love to hear from other folks. submitted by /u/eridani99 to r/Mounjaro [link] [comments]
