Is Royal Caribbean the end all be all?
I’ve only been on two cruises in my life : Royal Caribbean mariner of the seas when it was the biggest ( yeah upteen yrs ago) and a carnival cruise about 11 yrs ago on their newest at the time. There was absolutely no comparison between the two ships and service!! Does anyone think other cruise lines do it better? I was blown away by the mariner of the seas grand dining room, I felt Royal! lol submitted by /u/Kathieh9 to r/cruiseships [link] [comments]

Do better Royal Caribbean
If you have rules for the main dining room, enforce them. Watching a group of older teen ( or 20s) boys walking into dining room with their shorts hanging down, underwear showing, tank tops, baseball caps on was disappointing. If I wanted a Carnival experience, I'd pay less money for it! submitted by /u/Embarrassed_Gur_8416 to r/royalcaribbean [link] [comments]

First time with Royal Caribbean… did I mess up? Need advice (please be kind)
Please don’t come at me - I already feel awful about this and I’m just trying to figure out what to do. This is our first time ever booking with Royal Caribbean (and also our first time using Cruisebound). We’re used to Disney Cruise Line where we’ve always booked a balcony and had zero issues, so I truly thought I did enough research going into this… but clearly I didn’t fully understand how their “guarantee balcony” works. We ended up being assigned an infinite balcony, and I had no idea that was basically just a window that opens vs a traditional balcony. Unfortunately, that setup is NOT going to work for our family: • My 6-year-old daughter is autistic and has sensory triggers, and the open-window concept is already causing concern • My husband is claustrophobic, so having to keep it closed feels really uncomfortable for him So I’m stuck in this situation where either way doesn’t work for someone in my family. I’ve reached out to both Royal Caribbean and Cruisebound trying to explain everything, and I honestly feel like no one cares or is trying to help. The only “solution” I’ve been given is to pay $2,900 more just to move to a regular ocean view balcony (not even a suite or anything upgraded). To be transparent - yes, I understand now in retrospect that with my family’s needs I probably should have picked my own room. But when I booked a “guarantee ocean view balcony,” based on the research I did, I truly thought that meant a traditional balcony - not an infinite one. I really did try to research this ahead of time, which is why this outcome feels so frustrating and honestly upsetting. I also had a Royal Caribbean agent make me feel pretty terrible about it - basically saying this is my fault for not choosing my own room - which just added to how bad I already feel. So I’m really just asking for kindness here… I don’t need negative comments, I already feel that myself. Our cruise sails in less than two weeks and I’m honestly really anxious about my family’s comfort at this point. I feel like I tried to plan something special and it’s turning into a stressful situation. It also looks like there’s only one traditional ocean view balcony left online, which might be why they’re being so difficult about switching me. A few questions: • Has anyone had luck with the RoyalUp (bid) program actually helping in situations like this? • Has anyone been able to switch rooms at the port or once onboard? • Is there anything else I can realistically do this close to sailing? Also really disappointed because Cruisebound was supposed to call me back and instead just sent an email - no real help or solutions. At this point I’m worried this experience is going to completely turn my husband off from ever trying anything other than Disney again 😞 Any insight or advice (kind advice please) would really mean a lot. submitted by /u/WorkNew5548 to r/Cruise [link] [comments]

Mestastic on Family Cruise - Worked Great for Family of 4 - Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas
TLDR: Took a Meshtastic setup on a family cruise to keep connected -- Saved a 'boatload' of money and my wife keeps praising me for how well it worked! Full Story: The price for being able to have communication for my family of four an upcoming Royal Caribbean cruise seemed ridiculous. $27/person/day. 4 persons * 8 days * $27/person/day = $864 (before taxes/fees/etc) I was a bit worried since the Harmony of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships in the world and it's a giant collection of metal boxes. I knew we needed to carry around our "Sea Pass", so I figured sticking a node to the back of everyone's lanyard might be feasible. I'd recently heard really good things about the WisMesh Tag and the form factor was perfect. To boost the mesh, I set up the WisMesh Pocket with the Gooseneck Tactical Antenna as a base station in my room, which luckily was a balcony room, on the INSIDE section of the ship (see picture). That was ideal since it had easier access to the floors below and above. Sometimes the room steward would unplug the WisMesh Pocket, but since it has a strong battery, that didn't cause any issues. We set up a FamilyComms channel, and used that exclusively for communication. When a message is received, each WisMesh Tag would beep for 1 minute, so you didn't have to constantly have your phone on you. The IP66 rating ensured we were safe from most water activities. Since GPS was not helpful at sea, I turned that off on all of the WisMesh Tags when we were on the ship (super easy by pressing the button 3 times). This was also a great way to save battery. When disembarking the ship at the various ports we re-enabled GPS (again, pressing the user button 3 times). We had almost no problems staying connected. I only had one message fail to send, and it was a Direct Message to my wife, which I could see immediately and simply resend. I was a bit worried that the learning curve might be too much for my 10 year old, but it wasn't an issue. Basics - $325 (before tax) (1) WisMesh Pocket (1) Meshtastic Gooseneck Tactical Antenna (4) WisMesh Tag Extras - $93 (before tax) (4) Cruise Ship Lanyards (1) Roll of Double Sided Tape (3M VHB) (4) 3D Printed ID Holders (probably was overkill?) (1) 6 Port Anker Charger (2) USB-C to A adapters Total cost: $418 (before tax) The last bit I'd leave you with: This activity really intrigued my 10 year old son, and he is now nerding out with me using Meshtastic. He LOVES tinkering with the WisMesh Tag node and the entire Meshtastic hobby has become a great excuse for us to spend time together. submitted by /u/PoweredParaGuy to r/meshtastic [link] [comments]

What happened to Royal Caribbean?
I went on a bunch of Royal Caribbean cruises back in the day and didn’t really have any complaints. Then I went on one recently and I have some major concerns. -The food was terrible. Even the bacon was bad, the hash browns were bad. The spaghetti tasted like it had cinnamon in the sauce. I heard a lot of people complain and a few people said they would never go on RC again. I agree. I ate at the speciality restaurants and they were good. This just indicates they know what good food is and are serving terrible food. -The bed and pillows were terribly uncomfortable. I was in a balcony room. -Getting drinks was a slow nightmare. I just wanted canned drinks but lots of people were ordering frozen drinks and they made every single one individually and they had no pre made frozen drinks or machine. It was so slow. I also wanted to bring drinks to my room to just relax and it was very difficult to get more than a couple drinks to bring back. I had the unlimited drinks package. -The Tv channels were seriously lacking. I just wanted to relax in my room sometimes and there was nothing to watch on TV. I even had the Internet package but it was too slow to stream content. Maybe cruises just aren’t for me. submitted by /u/Mysterious_Reality_ to r/royalcaribbean [link] [comments]

DO NOT CRUISE WITH ROYAL CARIBBEAN! My 21 month old son was assaulted and they do not care!!
On June 27, 2025 around 9:30am, while walking toward the elevators to exit the terminal, my 21-month-old son, just had a tantrum and was trying to clam down in his stroller. I gave him my phone to watch Ms. Rachel and his crying and screaming stopped. I kept hearing "mind your business," keep it moving" from a young man's mother; the young man was approximately 20 years old. He kept looking at my son with anger and was very vigilant. As we approach the elevator, the young man lunged at my son and attempted to yank him out of the stroller by his legs. This was a terrifying and unprovoked act, and it could have caused serious injury or worse had my brother-in-law not immediately tackled and restrained the attacker. The individual’s mother, who had earlier stated to us that her son is autistic, made no effort to remove him from the situation, provide him with headphones, or request an escort or accommodation to exit separately—despite visible signs of escalation and her own repeated attempts to verbally redirect him. This deeply disturbing event occurred in a family-packed terminal with children everywhere. My family and I were shocked by the lack of preparedness, response, and proactive measures from both the parents involved and terminal staff. Royal emailed me the following in several replies: To provide clarity on our policies, you may refer to our Guest Conduct Policy available at this link: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/guest-terms/guest-health-safety-and-conduct-policy/english/ — which is also included in your booking invoice. This policy emphasizes the importance of responsible supervision by parents and guardians, particularly for minors and young adults, throughout the entire voyage, including disembarkation and port activities. It underscores that guardians are responsible for ensuring appropriate behavior and supervision at all times. We understand the gravity of this incident and will share your feedback with our Operations Team for internal review to assess our procedures and identify potential areas for improvement in managing behaviors and ensuring safety during disembarkation. Rest assured, any measures we implement will be aimed at preventing similar occurrences in the future and all information will remain confidential. Additionally, we have forwarded your comments to our operational teams for review. While this remains an internal process and results are confidential, please rest assured that we are committed to evaluating and improving our procedures where possible. I contacted the Port Authority, they told me to contact the municipal court and the court said I could file a report, go to court, but this does not confirm that the cruise line will ban this individual from traveling again. I circled back with Royal Caribbean on their "review," but nothing. This means that the cruise line DOES NOT CARE about your safety. If you have a young child and they get hurt on the ship or on their property, they will not ban the person. My son could have died and I am appalled they are not doing ANYTHING. I want as many people to know my story because they are not hearing me at all! #CruiseSafety, #RoyalCaribbean submitted by /u/Only-Establishment29 to r/Cruises [link] [comments]

Royal Caribbean - Stay Away
First time cruiser but here is my honest take on Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas Food - Disaster, we paid for my time dining to dine anytime between 630 and 8. Even if we show up at 630 sharp, it is 45 minutes minimum to get a table. All the while various guests just walk right in based on guaranteed tables. Food quality is average at best. Gambling - Complete scam. RC keeps over 90% of bingo funds so don't play that. BJ odds and caps odds are horrible as they screw you as soon as they get in international waters. Slots - you must be an idiot to play these as they throttle down winning percentages when in international waters. Pool(s) - imagine a shitty backyard pool. There you go. It was heated which was nice but super small. Activities - most are gimmicky designed to try to make you buy drinks or something else. There isn't one activity where you will feel like the cruise is giving you value. There are certainly more options than AI resort but the difficulty accessing them makes the entire experience frustrating. I have absolutely no idea why anyone chooses a royal Caribbean cruise over an all inclusive resort. It is extremely silly from any perspective - literally any activity is better at the all inclusive. FYI - was on Harmony of the Seas. Stay away!!! submitted by /u/AdUpset1015 to r/Cruise [link] [comments]

FROM A CREW: Tipping
First post in this sub! First things first: I wanna thank all cruisers that continue to cruise with Royal. You have no idea how many dreams you have helped make a reality. I am a Royal Caribbean crew and my last few contracts were spent in Adventure, Allure and Wonder respectively. Your cash tips, no matter how big or small help us (most especially crews from “developing” countries like myself) tremendously. We are paid a livable wage, and well! But every dollar is something extra we can bring back home to our families. But if you prefer not to tip, that is completely okay!! Here are some other ways you can show your appreciation to crews that made your cruise extra special: 1. MENTIONING OUR NAMES ON YOUR POST CRUISE SURVEY/REVIEW Having our names mentioned in reviews/surveys earns us the following: - Possibly a day off - Possibly a VIC Card (Very Important Crew scratch card where you can claim prizes like free internet, free room service, a day off, discounts on the crew grocery, cash, etc) - A sort of reward like a free dining experience to one of the specialty restaurants or a stay in a guest cabin for 1 cruise - If mentioned enough times, we can get nominated to be Employee of the Month. Winning Employee of the Month has quite a sum of cash prize. 2. SMALL NOTES/LETTERS I have personally received small notes folded into fun shapes from guests and I still have them in my wallet to this day. Reading these notes from guests at the end of a long day of work makes all the hard work feel worth it. 3. CALLING US BY OUR NAMES AND A THANK YOU In a ship with 3000 crews, a guest remembering us and calling us by our names makes us feel seen and appreciated. As you all well know, we work onboard without day offs and days can be really long. You have no idea how a simple thank you can make a crew’s day. 4. YOUR LITTLE DUCKS Crews that have little kids back home LOVE collecting ducks!! My cousin whose dad also works for Royal grew up looking forward to receiving new duckies from her dad after every contract. Bath times aint complete without them! The more unique the ducks, the better! But as I am typing this down my partner who is currently working in Wonder said that 1 crew just got fired because of collecting ducks so….no more ducks I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ SPECIAL NOTE: Please be very careful if you want to hand out gifts to crews as it may get us in trouble, most especially if it’s alcohol or a medium to large sized gift or an item purchased from one of the shops onboard. We crews cannot bring home any item from the shops unless we have the receipt. Another way to go about it is to find the manager of that department and let them know that you are going to give this certain gift to (insert name of crew) preferably in an area where CCTV is available. This way, whatever happens, the crew receiving the gift has the CCTV footage proving that the guest has informed the Manager that you will be giving them a gift and that the item was not stolen. Some crews may even flat out not accept the gift afraid of getting in trouble. Thank you Royal cruisers! Don’t forget to wash your hands - WASHY WASHY! Safe seas and see you onboard! PS: Please do not ask me about gratuities/prepaid gratuities as I am not well versed on this topic and do not want to misinform anybody submitted by /u/SolAreiaLivros to r/royalcaribbean [link] [comments]

TIL about Labadee, a Royal Caribbean owned private beach resort in Haiti complete with a 30 foot wall and armed guards on each side isolating it from the rest of the country. Tourists arrive at a port connected to the resort and never go beyond the boundaries of the resort.

Do you trust this ship? Royal Caribbean's "Icon Of The Seas" will be the largest cruise ship in the world when it sails January 2024. Holds 10,000 people (7,600 passengers, 2400 crew members). Reportedly 5 times larger and heavier than the Titanic and 20 deck floors tall.
