Been seeing this place, it looks fun but honestly confused. Mainly the prices, it costs around $120-130 for two people, if I’m in a PUBLIC session??? And $300+ for private!?!? What’s the difference there??? Am I going to play with other people in the public session??? Also, has anybody tried Amber Sky 2088? It looks awesome from what Ive seen. Lastly how long is a session? Hi everyone. Some of you may have already seen my project mentioned somewhere on Reddit. A recent post I made in another VR community received almost 80,000 views, which honestly surprised me. I decided to share it here as well. I am 29 years old, and for about 10 years I have been closely following VR technology. I have always liked the idea of escaping from the real world into a digital one. To be honest, the real world was never very appealing to me. I always imagined having a place where you could step away from it for a while and spend time in a world you actually enjoy. For the past three years I have been working on a game that tries to capture that idea. It is basically the project I always wished existed. The game is called Homespace. The core idea is building highly detailed and realistic environments. You can build houses, villas by the ocean, cozy apartments, or even entire cities if you want. After you build something, you can walk around inside it, invite friends over, share your spaces, and simply spend time there together. We put a lot of effort into the building system. Lighting, weather, materials, decoration, layout, and small environmental details. The goal is to make the spaces feel believable and comfortable to be in. I personally have not seen many sandbox projects that focus this much on the atmosphere of the places players create. The spaces you build are not just static creations. They are meant to be used. You can meet friends there, explore worlds built by other players, build together, or simply relax and spend time in those environments. VR is actually where the original idea started. From the beginning I imagined people walking through the worlds they built using VR headsets. That is when the concept really comes alive. You are not just looking at something you made. You are standing inside it. You are walking through a world that exists because you created it. To be honest, it is a little sad that after the excitement several years ago, VR did not become as mainstream as many people expected. But I still believe the technology has huge potential, and I hope projects like this can help move things forward. If the idea sounds interesting to you, I would really appreciate your feedback. Hey everyone, ​I've always felt that VR destruction games were a bit limited—either too claustrophobic or using pre-set animations. I wanted something where you could just let loose in a peaceful, open environment. ​I’m currently building this in UE5. Just a heads-up: this is a very early prototype and I'm mainly focusing on the core mechanics right now. The visuals are just place-holders for now. ​The goal for the final version: ​Real-time Slicing: No pre-cut objects. You slice exactly where you hit. ​Dynamic Shattering: Hammers and blunt force will cause unique fractures based on physics, not canned animations. ​Open Environment: Bright, zen-like meadows instead of dark basements. ​Personalized Stress Relief: You'll be able to import your own photos onto statues or walls to "interact" with them lol. ​Again, this is just a very early tech demo / proof of concept so it's looking a bit raw. An organization reserved space for us to come and check it out at Sandbox VR in San Francisco. We did the Stranger Things experience. When you walk in, you register with your name and they call you into the room. You put sensors on your wrist and ankles. The orientation is pretty thorough. Then you are outfitted with goggles and a headset. The experience is so interactive! I was scared and didn’t realize I was screaming. I felt so bad for my friends when I saw the video afterwards. I really got into the game and ended up having the most kills lol. I was at Sandbvox VR in 2018 in Hong Kong and it made me fall in love with VR. Last week I visited Sandbox VR again, this time in germany and I kid you not: Nothing changed for 7 years. The headsets are bad. Ringy fresnel image, low res and the devices are huge. We were playing with 4 people and fps were low, the tracking super slow and inprecise. voice chat lagged for a second or so - basically unuseable. The force feedback vests were fine tho. But my point is, a plain old quest3 is a better experience in basically every way - and it does not charge >€50 per person per half hour. For that money I expect at least some up to date hardware and fidelity. Hi! I’m looking to take my family to Sandbox VR this weekend but having trouble picking a good one. Most of us like shooting/combat games so we’d pass on Squid Game. I’ve done Deadwood Phobia before but it was a little scary and selfishly, I’d like to try something else.
