Recently, I bought my first Smiski from a bidding site for $20. The seller did mention that the Smiskis weren’t guaranteed to be original, but I still took the risk because they looked legit—matte and not glossy. When it arrived in the mail today, the first thing I noticed was the stamp/marking on the bottom. It wasn’t polished, and there were visible paint smudges. The secret “Walking” figure can’t even stand, and the leash is super bendy. The heads also pop off just like Sonny Angels (I don’t even know if Smiskis are supposed to do that 🤣). But overall, it really does feel like an original one, except for those small details. I’m sharing this so everyone knows that dupes are getting better these days. So my girlfriend and I love Smiskis, and back in September, she off-handedly said that she wished there was a Smiski advent calendar we could buy... And so since I was going to be away from her during the holidays, I made her one -- a Smiski for each day I was going to be away, so that she could have something to look forward to each day. My trip happened to last twelve days, so I've affectionately named this project the Twelve Days of Smiskimas. You might remember these updates from when I was putting this together, but I finished and gifted it to her just before I left, and she's been opening one a day, usually while we're on a video call together so I can watch her open it. She's been loving every single one so far, and we're still only halfway there! I put together a short video with close-ups of each smiski ornament, as well as all sides of the box, but I can't seem to upload it here...
