my best friend of 10 years, we'll call her Lucy, has been cat sitting for my husband and me for around year and a half. we pay her and let her / her partner stay in our apartment. most recently, she stayed for 2 weeks. additional context: while she was there I left her 3 bags of clothes to keep which we talked about beforehand. these bags had the same type of clothing she later returned (pants, tops, pjs, etc.) so she had plenty she was welcome to take. 2 weeks after getting back from vacation, when Lucy and I were hanging out, she mentioned she had borrowed my Alo sweatpants while staying over and needed to return them. I didn't know she had taken them, and she wouldn't have known this, but they were a gift I'd only worn once. A few days later I asked to get the sweatpants back and a pair of lulu leggings I knew she had from a few months earlier. when I got the clothes back another 2 weeks later, she brought out a huge bag of clothes, far more than I knew she had. some things were missing since last summer, some were new and never washed/worn, some were sentimental/vintage. they were clearly from multiple drawers and cabinets in my bedroom and closet, not things I willingly lent her. since I also had left the 3 donate bags, I worried everything had gotten mixed together and it would be a guessing game to figure out what's mine. she apologized and told me to let her know if I could think of anything else I'm missing. over the next few weeks I asked about some specific items, including pants that went missing around the first time she cat sat (she had those too). she said next time i'm over I can look through her closet to see if she missed anything. at this point I had been trying to get my stuff back for around 6 weeks. this was the message i sent: “i need to be honest about how serious this feels to me it doesn’t sit right that i would have to come search through your closet to figure out what of mine you took. over the past year and a half, you went through multiple drawers and cabinets in my home and took so many items without ever asking or telling me. some of these were things i had never worn/washed. some were gifts. some were sentimental or vintage and irreplaceable. i’ve also spent time thinking i lost certain items at yoga or in my building’s laundry, never once imagining that my friend, someone i trusted in my home, had taken them from me i need the rest of my belongings returned. if you’re unsure if something is mine, send me a picture and I can let you know. i just need space to process everything because i didn’t expect this at all while you were staying here and i am at a complete loss because i never thought you would be someone to violate my privacy in such a big way.” she apologized and has since returned more items. the total is now around 25 pieces of clothing. Today I went to one of the international women’s day events at a pilates studio. The class was great and they gave everyone a freebie Alo water, magnesium reset spray and a full black yoga towel. I was wearing the candlelight bra for the first time and was sweating during my workout, unfortunately, some black dye got on my bra. I’m lucky I was heading home and noticed it quickly enough to wash it out. I would caution against wearing anything other than black for events that might give you a dark colored towel as a freebie because of the potential for dye transfer. This is honestly driving me crazy. I bought a white Alo top recently, and not long after bringing it home, I noticed small yellow spots starting to appear. The weird part is I hadn’t even worn it yet. Never washed it, never sweat in it, nothing. It literally just sat in my closet. I store all my clothes in the same place, and none of my other white pieces from Lululemon or other brands have this issue. Only Alo. At first I thought maybe I accidentally stained it somehow, but this has happened to more than one white Alo piece now. Has anyone else experienced this?? Is this a fabric quality issue or something with how they treat their materials? Athletic pieces that transition through a full day, which have been absent in your lineup for a solid year. I haven’t bought anything directly from the Athleta website in months. Instead, I’ve been buying older Athleta styles on Poshmark (and that’s not unique to me). “Old Athleta” felt more wearable, beautiful, and special. Got an unexpected package in the mail today from Alo, picked it up from my doorman and it was heavier than one I’d expect from a clothing brand. Opened it up to a not-very-well-wrapped HP laptop that appears to be used, plastic wrapped around a solid piece of cardboard. Paired with the partially uncoiled charger underneath the cardboard the laptop is strapped to. It definitely feels like something’s off with this package, I know Alo to be a high end clothing brand and this sketchy package seems really out of character for them. Makes no sense that they would send me a laptop, and makes even less sense for them to package it this way. Even the Alo logo on the sheet of paper included in the package is of low quality. I checked the tracking on it and it says it was shipped from Las Vegas, NV which is interesting. Not sure if that’s related to Alo. My instincts tell me not to turn this thing on so I am not for now. As a player who values immersion more than most other aspects of a game, I don't like how smoothies and badges provide temporary and permanent protection, respectively, against the elements. Here's how I would implement the same biome progression concept in a more immersive way. Permanent Protection: Instead of biome badges, I suggest using wearable items that can have their visibility toggled (similar to the new changes made to armor). These items would not be craftable and would be found very rarely in loot or acquired from traders, either by completing a special quest or purchasing them at a high price. Special Quest: By accepting this quest from a trader, you are immediately given the item and sent to a POI (or multiple) in the new biome. After completing the job, the trader will allow you to keep the item as a reward. If you fail to complete the quest, you must return the item; otherwise, the trader will consider it stolen and refuse to trade with you. (In the future, when bandits are implemented, the trader might even place a bounty on you.) For example: Trader Rekt will only provide the smoke mask. By accepting the special quest, you receive the smoke mask and are sent to the Burnt Forest to clear one or more POIs. You can choose not to complete the quest and face consequences. Dying during the quest does not cause it to fail. Temporary Protection: Temporary protections are craftable. Below are example recipes I came up with quickly. They would need balancing and refinement, but the core idea is that you should be able to craft them before entering a new biome—or at least gather the necessary resources shortly after arriving.
