Am currently on one of two supporter coaches up to Liverpool for the match. Last time we were in the semifinal there were only 9 of us on the coach so this shows how interest has grown! Hopefully it will be worth having to get to the Amex for 5am! The match is live on Channel 4 with kickoff at 12.15pm. Weve hit good form recently and Im quietly confident we'll get to Wembley UTA!

RE:20x EDR Points on TCN Good Food, TCN Cinema, Dymocks & TCN Kids Gift Cards (Excl. Variable Load, In-Store Only) @ Woolworths
So technically with the Good Food gift card at $200/pop (10 limit/day) you could buy $2000/day, for a total of $14000 for the promo week. Meaning 280,000 everyday points / 140,000 qantas points. If you are planning a wedding and you did this plus 2.25 points per dollar on Amex purchases you'd get a total of 155,750 qantas points, assuming the restaraunt / caterer MCC lines up.

For the Love of God do not open an Amex Card for this tour
For all Amex sales you need the physical card, and I do not see that changing for Olivia. Please do not hurt your credit score for a card that probably will kill you with annual fees (only one card has 0) for literally no reason as the card will not be reaching you by Tuesday. I see so many people applying for this card online THE ONLINE CARD WILL NOT WORK FOR TICKETMASTER🚨🚨 EDIT: People are saying the online card may work for the presale. That is not my experience but I will be calling TM and Amex to see if I can get any info on it. EDIT 2: Ticketmaster said that they do not accept virtual cards for presales to “keep the integrity of the sale” which is ironic considering Ticketmaster is being sued for doing the opposite. AMEX however said that virtual cards will work. So basically either believe a credit card company that only benefits from more people opening cards or Ticketmaster who is notoriously fishy. EDIT 3: Stop telling me the photo quality is bad. I was studying for my finals in library and our university wifi is horrid. submitted by /u/Late_String7392 to r/OliviaRodrigo [link] [comments]

I don’t think we should be promoting taking out a new credit card for the presale, and I think it’s extremely gross to take advantage of ppl on this sub by sharing your referral code. How Amex makes money
I’m in the bar at a Waldorf Astoria in the US - don’t usually get involved in bar conversations but the barman was explaining to someone that they need to sign up for Hilton Gold because they were paying their bill with the Plat and hadn’t realized that gold comes with the card and gives F&B credits. Turns out that about 9 people here all have the Plat card, and 7 of them knew almost nothing about Platinum benefits (inc FHR). 2 of us ended up giving everyone a crash course in benefits maximization… Guarantee they’ll all still have Platinum when the annual fee exceeds $1k. Also guarantee these people are representative of >75% of cardholders. (BTW - none of these people are military) (BTW 2 - FHR rate was 10% less than the rate for Hilton Honors members without breakfast, and I was upgraded from a Junior Suite to a full 1 bed suite). submitted by /u/Annual-Connection562 to r/AmexPlatinum [link] [comments]

Uber riders complain they were charged more for paying with Amex cards
Some Uber riders are accusing the company of charging higher fares when an American Express card is selected in the app, reviving long-running concerns about how opaque ride-hailing algorithms decide what each customer pays. The latest wave of complaints appears to have been sparked by a viral video showing an UberX ride in Atlanta priced at $33.05 when the rider selected an Amex card, then dropping to $20.33 after the rider switched to a Visa card. Similar claims have since circulated across Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, FlyerTalk, and credit-card forums, where users say fares appear to rise when Amex cards, Uber Cash credits, Uber One memberships, gift-card balances, or business profiles are attached to their accounts. American Express markets Uber credits as a premium cardholder perk. Platinum cardholders can receive up to $200 in Uber Cash annually, distributed as $15 per month plus a $20 December bonus. Uber’s terms say riders must add an eligible Amex card, select it as the payment method, and enable Uber Cash to redeem the benefit. The same terms say American Express shares certain card information with Uber, “including the Card type,” for benefit fulfillment. That has led some cardholders to argue the benefit may be offset by higher fares. “It really undermines the benefit of receiving that $15 monthly credit if I end up spending an additional $15 per ride,” one Reddit user wrote in an Amex Platinum thread about the viral video. Another Reddit user said switching from a Chase Sapphire Reserve card to an Amex Platinum card raised an airport ride estimate by roughly $12 to $16, or 17% to 27%, before the price dropped again when the user switched back to Visa. Amex and Uber ripping us off
I landed in the Miami airport yesterday and hadn’t pre-booked my uber because I didn’t know if there were going to be long lines to get through customs, didn’t want to miss my pick up. When I went to request one, I was surprised to see $144, it is usually about $100. Lyft was $80. I got suspicious and asked my daughter to try requesting one. Her price to go to the same place, at the same time, from the same place, same type of car: $109! This tells me that uber and Amex are hooking us with the $15 monthly uber credit and the “free” uber One membership but then Charging us higher fares to make up for it. Going to remove uber One membership, disconnect my Amex from my uber account, and use Lyft as the default from now on. Probably more disappointed with Amex than with uber! submitted by /u/MrPinrel to r/AmexPlatinum [link] [comments]

Amex Spend for Centurion 2026
Hey all, lots of rumors floating around about the Centurion invite and just trying to collect actual 2025/2026 data points from people who received one, specifically the personal card. What spend level triggered your invite and what categories specifically, does HCOL vs LCOL actually matter, do referrals from existing members help or is that just a myth? Does having a dedicated Amex advisor play into it, is that even a thing for personal cardholders, and how do you get assigned one? Also is it true that invites were paused through 2023 and 2024 and has anyone actually received one recently or heard anything about when they might resume? Also open to any insider tips or factors that might boost your chances, Platinum tenure, spend consistency, anything. Just trying to get a realistic picture from real people not speculation, and if this isn't your thing no worries at all 😊 Let's keep it respectful in the comments, we're all here to learn! submitted by /u/Expensive-List-6857 to r/amex [link] [comments]

Is Amex even worth it anymore?
For years we've been hardcore Chase fans - we've racked up a lot of points and enjoy finding the occasional deals through their travel portal or transfer partners. But we weren't using them fast enough... because we keep waiting for amazing conversions which are becoming increasingly rare. That's a whole other conversation. Regardless.. with Chase we often move points to Hyatt for hotel stays, or sometimes United, or occasionally book direct through their portal. Our points tend to give us an average value of 1.8$. About 6 months ago, I saw that there was a 200k welcome offer for a gold Amex business and I grabbed it, without even doing the research. My thinking was that Amex is known for amazing customer service and good value for points. But now that I got the card and a bunch of points, I have no idea how to use them.. Their travel portal is horrible. It's clunky, doesn't have any special deals, and won't even let me use points at a value of $1?? Their travel partners suck too.. I see Delta in there which has some potential but I did some digging and didn't see anything that would get me better value.. I don't know why but I assumed that I would at least be able to use it for more than $1 on their travel portal, that they would have decent deals in there (like Chase), and that they would unlock a few new good transfer partners too.. Obviously I could have just Googled and seen the answer, but I just never thought that I'd be "stuck" with the points like I am. To clarify - I have a family with kids, we travel a fair amount, and we fly to Europe almost every year also. And yet I cannot see how I would use those points to get a good value out of them, like I can casually do with Chase, even through their portal. Everything is getting worse with points lately, and I'm starting to hate Chase too because it feels like a rug pull -- to up the yearly fees and then devalue their points -- but still I'm so surprised at Amex and I don't see why anyone would prefer them over Chase (or Citi, to get access to AA which has a bunch of great deals with points). Mind you, Amex is not even accepted as widely as Visa/MasterCard. What am I missing?? submitted by /u/Paralemo to r/CreditCards [link] [comments]

The Amex Honor System — From Someone Who Knows It by Heart
Hello there, I have been part of the Amex Credit Review Team here in Canada for the last few years. I am assuming it works about the same way as in the US, but if anyone knows better, then feel free to correct me. I have been prompted on this sub to address the income honor system in regards to the number you state when you apply for a card. When reviewing a credit application, we rely heavily on our in-house algorithm to help us make decisions. I cannot go into details about how the process works, but I can say that some applications require a bit of extra verification either when we receive the application or thereafter. When you apply, we will usually honor your stated income and consider it as fact, we usually will not question is unless it is especially unusual. This system saves us time and makes you feel valued as to not be asked for proof. It makes it feel more like a friendship than formal business. However, we have analysis tools that flag accounts that under-spend or over-spend. If you are flagged, one of us will look deeper into you profile and look for answers. If you have a good credit report, but most importantly perfect payment history, you fall into one of 3 buckets, and if you miss payments you will fall in the fourth. We also consider your history with us for late payments that are not reported on your credit reports. (Don't worry if you were late by a few days like 1 time, we look at the trend, not the one-offs.) Here are the 4 buckets (worst ---> best): Has missed payments: We will check for income and usually attempt to reduce risk through limit cuts, fees, interest, etc... If you fall in this bucket, we may explicitly ask for income proof and other documents. Has never missed a payment but always pays minimum or close to minimum: We will not usually ask you directly for documents but we will silently investigate on our side. We just want to make sure you have nothing special and are actually able to sustainably afford your spending. We still consider you in good standing, but want to make sure you will most likely remain that way in the future. Has never missed and also pays a good chunk every single month: We most likely will never ask for anything, but we may still ask for documentation if you try to make changes to you income or credit limit. We mostly trust you and will simply approve you for what we think makes sense in your case, your limits will be what your income allows, but we usually won't verify the income itself unless we have doubts. Has never missed and pays in full: If this is your case and has been consistently for most of your time with us, we will usually honor anything. You can state any income and we will just take your word for it (you should still not lie, because if you get caught we will never trust you again). Even if your income does not support it, we will most likely approve you for any limit you request, even if you do not qualify for it in the traditional sense. We may also give you more generous retention offers, statement credit, annual fee waivers, etc. We do this to allow people to make bigger purchases with us and we trust they will pay in full by the due date. I am not trying to tell you guys to lie on your applications, but if it makes sense and we don't think you are risky, we won't check. It cost us money to check these things, and while some of it is automated and required, this is the general idea of how we do things. submitted by /u/Delicious_Tadpole238 to r/amex [link] [comments]

Closing my Amex Platinum after 20 years – sharing why...if anyone cares...AMEX certainly doesn't
Posting this mainly as a data point, but also out of genuine frustration. I’ve been an Amex cardmember for 20 years, and this is the first time in that entire period that I’ve ever contacted them over something I truly believed I had done correctly. My spouse and I enrolled our Platinum benefits on the same day using the same process in November. Her credits posted, mine did not. The issue involved several Platinum benefits (Oura, Resy, Lululemon) totaling about $350. When looking at my statement and seeing the credits didn’t trigger, I looked at the benefits and it required me to enroll again, which raised questions about whether this was my error or an enrollment or system tracking issue. What followed was close to 2 hours in chat, multiple agents, delayed responses, difficulty getting escalation, and a supervisor review that ultimately defaulted to “the system shows no error.” No timestamps were reviewed, no alternative explanation was offered, and there was no acknowledgment that the system itself could have failed. What really bothered me wasn’t just the outcome, but the service. There was no ownership of the experience, no recognition of the time spent, and no acknowledgment of 20 years of loyalty. The Platinum Card now carries an annual fee of $895, yet the only retention option offered was a points incentive that required me to spend more money to earn value later. That felt especially tone deaf. After paying thousands in annual fees and interest over two decades and routing serious spend through Amex, the solution to a service problem apparently was: spend more money and wait 8–12 weeks. I’m not posting this to argue policy or claim Amex owes me something. I’m posting it because the service, the retention response, and the complete lack of acknowledgment of long term loyalty didn’t align with what I expect from a premium card I literally pay to use. For me, this wasn’t about $350. It was about how quickly loyalty stopped mattering. Sharing so others understand what to expect form AMEX when something goes wrong. submitted by /u/Krammit1 to r/AmexPlatinum [link] [comments]

Amex: How You Lose a 26-Year Platinum Member
Quick prelude - Amex was my first client in marketing/advertising around ’97. Worked on their website, marketing, advertising for almost 10 years as a creative at a senior level. Met and presented to C-suite, (Harvey Golub, John Hayes, Anne Busquet, Susan Sobbot). All this to say I have been a long time believer in the brand, first because that was my job, and then because I saw how they walked-the-walk all the way to the top. Burner account... Had my Platinum card for over 26 years and canceled it last month because of the financial review process. My particulars are: •Earning low to mid-high 6 figures for 26 years. •Pay off every month, without fail (never missed a payment). •Put everything on the card(s), over 100k annually. •Do not carry debt except for mortgage and occasional cars (which I tend to pay off). •Credit hovers between 820-850. •Have investments around 4M. At the beginning of the year, I left my latest job and decided to take the year to consult and assess and not just run to another big position. Registered my LLC, got a Gold Business to go with it (in addition to my personal Plat/Gold). Beginning of summer got a Platinum Business Delta offer and spread some of my spend around to make the SUB. August, I’m on vacation in British Columbia and I get hit with a FR - literally all four cards nuked at once. Was out buying groceries for my family and all four are dead. Same story as others - I call, ask what’s happening, they tell me to immediately send them pay stubs and bank statements. From where I sit (having never been aware of any of this prior), this feels scammy and weird and VERY un-Amex. No warning, ambush, “Show me your financial info, or else.” I call and confirm this isn’t a scam, but even their janky email form you have to send docs through looks very suss. I tell them I’m transitioning from my last job, but am taking commiserate draws from my investments so, same budget. I send my bank statements and they want a full view of my entire portfolio. I ask them whether 26 years as a customer with no bad payments and a high credit rating means anything, and they say no. Again, VERY un-Amex. They unlock my accounts a week later, with my personal cards cut to 5k limits. So I guess my annual spend didn’t matter. Then, November, same thing only now they want the IRS forms. Can’t tell me why they did it again, just demand I give them the IRS authorization. I ask them multiple times why they didn’t just reach out to have me verify my income without the ambush, and no one can tell me anything other than “it’s our responsibility as a financial…yadayada.” If I had helped them design the process, I would have cut the data base so that the most loyal, long term customers didn’t get caught in the net. Oh, and while my account were frozen they still charged me my annual Platinum fee. Three weeks later, all of them unlocked again. No change in spending limits for the better. I immediately canceled my Platinum. Not paying $695 for a 5k ceiling. My wife has one with no preset limit still (knocking on wood), so I’ll just piggyback on hers. My others come up in January and then May. Don’t know whether I’ll keep them or try and move my spend elsewhere. Honestly, the whole thing is sort of shocking. I used to sit in senior meetings with their leadership where they would actually hammer and talk particulars in customer sat scores. Loyalty mattered to them. They studied other companies like USAA to try and see how they could serve their members better. But whoever is in charge of their financial review is just destroying their rep, their brand. These kinds of stories spread. I asked one of the reps why I would put any spend on my card when there was a chance it wouldn’t work and if they could give me no guidance on what causes the blackouts and they had no answer. Great opportunity for another player to step in. Delta should roll out their own card. OP UPDATE Wow. This is a lot. Couple of things as I looked at the comments: Not an AI. Not part of a "black hat" campaign against Amex. Yes, burner account as my "real" Reddit handle has too much associated to attach this much financial info to. So, no posts, no history...burner. Not saying any of this to rag Amex. I hope they do read these and I hope there are people there who know that making cardmembers feel special is the real premium you get for the fee, not the SUB's or the Lululemon gear. Treat people like they belong to something. Otherwise, you're just another bank thing. submitted by /u/fludgeee to r/amex [link] [comments]

Why You Shouldn't Lie About Income To Amex - The Work Number
Just a helpful heads up to folks. While you shouldn't lie on a credit application, I wanted to point out something in light of the recent FR discussions and your stated income on credit card applications. American Express and other credit card companies have several methods to verify if your stated income seems inflated. Case in point, The Work Number (https://theworknumber.com/login-help) which is an employment/salary history service run by Equifax. A lot of employers and payroll services will report your employment history and paycheck/salary information to this service (I've only had one company not in my 30+ years of working). While my circumstantial evidence I've collected from FR reports on here shows that it's not consistently collected across all of their customers, a fair number of people I've spoken to (me included) have had American Express pull it at one point or another. https://preview.redd.it/khh8av0zol5g1.png?width=755&format=png&auto=webp&s=1cbe922f14e01b2ef7b81f62f35ce4f1a4fc8cd4 submitted by /u/tjseviltwin to r/amex [link] [comments]

Amex: This Is How You Lose a 19-Year Platinum Member
I’ve been an Amex member since 2006. I started with the Blue card, upgraded to Platinum in 2015. I spend $15k–$30k/month through the card and have never missed a payment. I also use bank e-bill autopay to automatically pay the full statement balance every month. II have had e-bill autopay set up with my bank for years, always paying off the statement balance, yet for some reason my October bill was not paid (the bank says they never received the e-bill, Amex did not comment). In any case, I caught the error the next day and made a direct payment to Amex causing a payment that was 1 day late. For that, Amex charged the $29 late fee and over $1,000 in interest. Yes, more than $1,000 in interest for one day late. Their “trailing interest” system is complicated, but based on my balance this represents about 1,285% APR. In 19 years, I’ve never asked Amex for any special treatment. But this time I called Platinum support and explained the situation and requested that the fees be waived as an exception. The rep said she could not waive the interest fees. All very polite. I asked to escalate and they sent it to credit, saying they would reach out with their decision. Well they did not and I called back a week later only to be informed the request was declined. The charges would stand. Now I accept that this is in their cardholder agreement and they CAN charge it. What I do not accept is this punitive approach to a payment overdue by 1 day from a company that prides itself on customer service. In other words, I believe I SHOULD receive better customer service after 19 years of loyalty where I have always paid on time and my spend is quite high, earning Amex significant interchange fees. I told them that if they couldn’t make this right, I’d rather cancel the Platinum card on principle. That triggered a transfer to the retention team, who spent 20 minutes reminding me about my points, remaining months before the next annual fee, and Platinum benefits, but still would not make me whole for the $1,000 in interest they charged me. So I canceled. The weirdest part is that Amex is currently offering up to 175,000 points to attract new Platinum members, yet they were fine losing a long-standing customer over less value. We also have the Chase Sapphire Reserve card so will just move our spend to that card, as they have so far always been good to us too. Mostly I’m just disappointed. I've been otherwise happy with my Amex and really wanted to stay a member, but in my gut this just feels wrong. Amex used to feel like a premium company, but their values now seem misaligned with mine. So now I've paid my balance in full and I'm just waiting for my final statement - half expecting to see even more interest. We'll see. EDIT: Thank you all for your comments. Many people are rightly mentioning the autopay feature could have avoided this. That is fair. On the other hand, I've been using bank billpay since long before Amex introduced the autopay. It worked for years until now. My chase sapphire is already on autopay so that issue will not happen again. Payment methods aside, I still feel gut-punched because I thought Amex was a relationship focused company that valued its long-held customers. I was wrong about that and it is disappointing. submitted by /u/ctconifer to r/amex [link] [comments]

Hard conversations: Amex Platinum is not for you
Everywhere you look, people are doing mental gymnastics to convince themselves the Amex Platinum is “worth it.” They scramble for $5 credits, buy things they never wanted, sign up for random subscriptions, and overspend just to trigger a perk. Then they celebrate like they outsmarted Amex. The reality is simpler. If you are working that hard, the card is not for you. You are not winning. Amex is. You are turning your spending habits upside down for a coupon book that only works if you stretch the definition of value. Instead of twisting yourself into knots to justify $895 a year, you could just keep that money and spend it on what you actually want. Most people would be better off with a straightforward rewards card or just putting that cash toward travel directly. Not every card is meant for everyone. Platinum is a luxury card for people who naturally use the perks. If you have to force it, it is not your status symbol. It is your anchor. submitted by /u/actuarial_defender to r/amex [link] [comments]

Why people think amex is rich people card?
So I am in college and I have American Express platinum card. When my friends saw my card, their reaction was like I am super rich or something. “You have amex!” I think it’s fairly easy to get American Express. I don’t know why people make deal a lot of it. submitted by /u/First_Accountant_402 to r/amex [link] [comments]

why is everyone so mad that young people can have amex cards?
at least 3 instances of people at different amex lounges in the past month saying something along the lines of “they let anyone in here” or “this is why i’m leaving amex, this used to be an exclusive club”. i’m 22, i’m not hurt by it, i actually find it pretty funny that people get pissed off just because i worked hard to build my credit like, sorry i just wanted some free mac and cheese sir submitted by /u/AgreeableAd508 to r/amex [link] [comments]

AMEX is ruined
Oh, the audacity of Amex, dear friends! Gather around, for I must share a tale of woe and outrage. Today, I received a letter, dipped in corporate insensitivity and glazed with audacity. Amex, the financial giant, has decided to hike up their annual fees. Yes, you read that right. In a world where the price of avocados fluctuates more than my will to hit the gym, Amex decides to weigh down our wallets even more! So here's my grand plan – I'm cancelling my card. That's right, Amex, prepare for your downfall! I can see it now: the headlines scream, "Local Hero Cancels Card, Amex Declares Bankruptcy!" It'll be chaos in the streets, stock markets plummeting, executives weeping into their overpriced lattes. Because surely, my one cancellation will be the straw that breaks the corporate camel's back. Imagine the scene at Amex headquarters: alarms blaring, people running around in panic. "We didn't foresee this!" they'll cry. "How could we lose such a valued customer?" they'll wail. Board meetings will be held, emergency strategies devised, all to win back the heart and wallet of yours truly. But no, it's too late. I have decided to take my vast financial influence elsewhere. Perhaps to a company that understands the value of a dollar, or at least the value of not charging an arm and a leg for the privilege of spending my own money. Farewell, Amex. You had your chance. Now watch as your empire crumbles, one cancelled card at a time. And let this be a lesson to all: never underestimate the power of a customer scorned by a fee increase! submitted by /u/Spiritual-Breath5662 to r/delta [link] [comments]
