Time to upgrade my scales and smart watch, can anyone recommend any?
Hi! I have been on MJ since mid-December and am steadily losing 2lbs a week. It's amazing and absolutely life changing. I have been counting clicks to take 3.5mg for the last 6 weeks, and so far I am able to stick to 1500 cals a day. I currently live a very sedentary life, but I just got a job where I can walk 45mins each way to get there and back. I am going to start with one way, and eventually walk both. I also get discounted gym membership so I am going to join one with a pool so I can do gentle swimming/water walking often (to help with some muscle and joint issues). I want to be really serious about how I manage my food and calories when increasing exercise. Before Mounjaro I have made the mistake a million times of sticking to my sedentary TDEE and ignoring increasing calories thinking I could lose more quickly. Then I end up breaking my diet and eating horribly again and gaining weight even more. Mounjaro is changing my life. 3.5mg seems a great fit for me. I buy 7.5mg pens to split dose and I can't afford to increase cost really. But I am worried I will fall into a mental trap of: exercise more > not enough calories > over eat to compensate > gain weight > increase does to boost effectiveness > not enough calories > etc etc. QUESTION: in a preparation mentally! Can anyone recommend: Bathroom scales: I am looking for accurate weight readings as priority. Then water, fat, percentage readings would be great if that's possible. Smart Watch: Waterproof, so it can be submerged for a few hours at a time. Accurate steps. Accurate heart rate. I'd like alarms that vibrate rather than make a sound. Everything else will be helpful bonus! Both: I have an android for any apps. I'd definitely prefer to avoid any subscription fees! It's not much over minimum wage so I am splashing out on some stuff to prepare, but after that will be budgeting. Thanks! submitted by /u/_the-other-one_ to r/mounjarouk [link] [comments]

Dev of WalkScape here, the cozy RPG where you progress by walking in real life. We're inviting new players & have released a bunch of new updates, including smart watch support on iOS!
Hello there r/CozyGamers ❤️ First off, I have struggled to exercise enough, and I also have ADHD. Gamifying exercise works really well for my dopamine-craving brain, but I'm also easily distracted, so the current mobile fitness games on the market didn't really work for me. That's how I came up with this idea. Here are some info about the game and how it's different from Pokemon Go for example: no distractions. I love games that value my time. WalkScape is designed so that it encourages you not to open it while you're walking, but afterwards. And even if you open it while walking, changing things in the game is super quick. no GPS. So you can walk where ever you want. The game tracks your steps even without an internet connection, but you need a connection when you open the game. no ads, no MTX. I hate predatory monetisation practises, and they encourage unhealthy spending habits. This game is about both mental and physical health. In the game, you explore and work in different skills such as woodcutting, foraging, fishing and crafting by walking in real life. The game uses your phone's pedometer to track your progress. It's also online, so you can work with your friends towards common goals without needing to be physically in the same location. The game has dozens of locations, hundreds of items, NPCs, shops and more is coming as I work towards the full release of the game. There's a lot of different unique and cute activities in the game you can set your character to do in addition to the typical woodcutting and mining, like volunteering in soup kitchen or helping locals repairing their boats. All fueled by walking IRL. We've added the following things recently to the game, while we have also updated the roadmap on our website: Smart watch support for iOS! No need to carry your phone with you while walking, as you can on iOS now use your Apple Watch, Garmin etc. to track your steps. Smart watch support is coming to Android later too! An entirely new skill, Trinketry. Craft rings, amulets and more shiny things using the new skill! A lot more content. Entirely new region, a lot of new items, achievements, crafting recipes, locations, shops and more! Bunch of other improvements, minor features, Quality of Life updates! If you feel like you'd like to try it out, you can either apply to the closed beta (we're inviting more people right now) or if you like to support the development, you get instant to access through Patreon or Buy me a Coffee to start playing. The game is completely community funded. Whether you decide to support or apply to the closed beta, you'll need to sign up at WalkScape Portal to the game and then apply or connect your Patreon on the account page. You can also check our this video to hear me and the artist explain more about the game: Youtube introduction video. Or you can visit the website. We also have my devblogs released every two weeks available at r/WalkScape It's been a wild journey for me growing this thing from my personal hobby project, and awesome to see the game helping so many people to exercise more. I'll answer any questions you might have in the comments! Stay hydrated, and keep walking ❤️ submitted by /u/schamppu to r/CozyGamers [link] [comments]

My smart watch may have saved my life . . .
I'm (61f) laying here in a hospital bed thanks to the Galaxy Smart watch my son gave me for my birthday this past summer. When he gave it to me I didn't want to seem ungrateful, but it's so big and I have small hands/wrists. I found the sleep app on it very useful as I have issues sleeping. Saturday around midnight my watch woke me up vibrating on my wrist. It said it detected an irregular heart rhythm. I used the ECG app and it said I was in AFib. I don't have a history of heart health issues so at first I wasn't alarmed, but after it walking me up 4 more times, by 3:30 in the morning I was concerned. I called my health insurance advice nurse and by this time I had slight pain running down the left side of my neck down my shoulder. She told me to call 911 and take an ambulance to the ER. The hospital isn't far so I drove myself. It wasn't a heart attack, but my heart is still in AFib. I'm still waiting for the results of my echo cardiogram and they didn't know why I'm in AFib yet. They've got me on blood thinners now because AFib can lead to a stroke. But I would've never known my heart was having an issue if it wasn't for this watch. I'm not advertising for any Samsung product, I just happen to have their android phone. I'm not sure if Apple watches have the same function, but I'm pretty sure they probably do. Anyways, this watch was the best present ever and may have saved my life, even if I didn't care for it at first. Stay healthy people . . . submitted by /u/thesexytech to r/TwoXChromosomes [link] [comments]

Smart watches, that aren't very smart at times
So the end has come, my Pebble Watch is finally too borked to be viable for every day use, and just as I start a job too. Despite buying it two weeks before Fitbit bought them out, me taking it swimming and having occasional screen tearing, and it finally not connecting to my Android phone, it's the fact it is now permanently 5 minutes late with no way to fix that makes me unable to use it (I rely on public transport). This watch was perfect: 10 days battery life (down to 6 after 8 years of constant use), message alerts, music control and the most important thing... THE ABILITY TO SET UNLIMITED TIMERS THAT CAN RUN AT THE SAME TIME. Oh god this ability saved my arse so many times for so many simple things (10 minute tea my love) and it has made replacing the watch difficult (the less said about the fitbit ionic, the better). So I'm in the market for a new smart watch and I'm looking for recommendations. Unfortunately, I am an Android user, which means no Apple watch (and probably won't ever go Apple). My only nessecity is this: The ability to set multiple timers (eg. 1 hour/3 hour/20 minute all running at the same time) as either a basic feature or as a watch app. While a battery life that lasts longer than 24 hours would be nice, I can deal with it as long as it charges fast, as I understand not everything can be pebble with its 10 days of battery life in 2016. Something that can withstand medium physical labour if possible. Worse comes to worst, I will just spend a lot of money to get one of the few remaining pebble watches floating around online. But I'm hoping you guys would have recommendations of what worked for you. submitted by /u/NurseBetty to r/adhdmeme [link] [comments]

Fossil has killed support for Misfit smart and hybrid watches INCLUDING THE ABILITY TO SET THE TIME
Posting here hoping to bring attention to this needless creation of ewaste A few years ago I bought a Misfit Command Hybrid Watch, It is a great looking watch and I bought it specifically because I did not want to deal with the mess that is Wear OS/Android wear and for its simplicity. When I got my new phone recently I went to pair my watch to my new phone and realized that i could not log in to the misfit app. I went to contact support and saw that misfit had been completely removed as a smartwatch brand, knowing it had been absorbed by fossil I contacted fossil support. They informed me that they discontinued support, the app had been removed from the appstore and you can not log in. This is made worse by the fact that you can not use the app at all without logging in and you can’t set the time on the watch AT ALL if you dont have the app logged in! So now the watch that I bought because of its long term prospects has been turned into Ewaste that cant even be used as a normal watch! They claimed that products are discontinued for a variety of reasons “Products reach the end of their product life cycle for a number of reasons. These reasons include market demands, technology innovation, and development driving changes, or the products simply mature over time and are replaced by functionally richer technology. “ None of these apply for a hybrid watch which is specifically designed to be older style tech with a little bit of modern function. Support offered me a 30 percent off coupon so I can buy another watch for them to inevitably make into garbage, and when I looked on the site I saw that you could get 25 percent off for signing up for their email, so basically they just offered me 5 percent off :/ submitted by /u/Clown_corder to r/LinusTechTips [link] [comments]

Switch, Android TV, Smart Fridges, rooted Teslas, VR headsets : Recruiting 5 tech-savvy Stadia players for world's first "weird device" raid clear.
The title says it all. I've gotten Stadia running on quite a few unsupported devices. Stadia Power! Here's a clip of me testing destiny on switch via PS4 remote play, believe me Stadia works MUCH better. Raid is totally doable. I'd like to get 5 more Stadia guardians with the ability to get this running on some absurd devices. I'm definitely able to help, but preferably you should know how to sideload apps at a minimum. Mods, I know /r/fireteams exists, but this is a SUPER niche group of people who would be eligible. Please let me reach out through this sub. Wow, this blew up! I'll start editing the roster. 1 - Geoxander (Me): Oculus Quest I'm going to see if I can get it running on my WearOS watch. 2 - /u/swanky_bubbles - Wink Relay Lightswitches submitted by /u/Nexii801 to r/DestinyTheGame [link] [comments]

The Silph Road's In-Depth APK Teardown of v0.125.1 is complete! Healthkit & Google Fit, (Android!) Smart Watches, Bluetooth Fitness Trackers, the Poké Ball Plus, and 9 Smaller Changes!
Time for another APK teardown, travelers! The Silph Road team has taken an in-depth look through the night looking at v0.125.1 which began propagation on the Play Store a few hours ago. The previous APK update brought Gen IV species and AR+ support on Android and in the two weeks since, we've had multiple in-game events and bonuses. (October got a lot more exciting than we'd expected!) Then on Thursday this past week, Niantic announced 'Adventure Sync' was coming to Pokemon GO, without sharing a release timeline. Let's see what this update has included under the hood this time! Backend & Platform Updates As is tradition, let's begin with the smaller 'invisible' tweaks to performance, Niantic's platform, and the networking libraries: 1. Networking (RPC) Update Niantic has continued to update their RPC library for months, and v0.125 is no exception. This version extends the RPC library to add listeners and notifiers for "downstream actions" as well as new client ping actions (typically for testing networking connections/speeds) called PING_ASYNC and PING_DOWNSTREAM. Whether these are listening to server-instigated actions or something else (e.g. peer-to-peer) is unclear. A new event called DOWNSTREAM_ACTION_EVENT was also added. Thus far, we have not observed a noticeable impact from the myriad networking library evolutions observed in recent APK updates. Whether this means the library's updates are not ready for use in production or they are possibly simply part of Niantic's shared codebase between Ingress/PoGO/Wizards has yet to be seen! But we're always encouraged to see development on this front continuing - especially with the promise of PvP looming in the future. 2. Pokemon GO+ Tweaks A small change to the GO+ connection code has appeared. A metadata attribute called FinishStartingSession has been added, seemingly connected to the Bluetooth pairing process, and we're curious to see if this may impact a glitch where the peripheral hangs while connecting. Additionally, a new PgpDeviceService has been added alongside the new metadata attribute (which will make more sense after reading #10 below!). Keep an eye out for any improvements to GO+ connectivity, travelers! 3. SuperAwesome Parent Verification Our travelers with younger children may be interested to know that further tweaks have appeared for SuperAwesome-authenticated accounts. This update brought a new 'IsParentVerified` attribute, which may refer to the GDRP-encouraged practice of obtaining 'verifiable' parental consent. Here's a little more detail on this for your reading pleasure. 4. Garbage Removal (Memory) Tweaks New garbage removal functions have appeared called CleanupAllGarbage and garbageRemovalPaused, the latter of which is seemingly tied to a new OnHighPerformanceModeChanged event. For our non-technical travelers, garbage removal in programming refers to 'releasing' or freeing up memory used by assets that are no longer needed - and can help improve app performance and avoid "out of memory" crashes! Bug Fixes & Quality of Life Upgrades A few changes have been included on the bugs & QoL front as well, travelers. See if you can spot any differences in the following: 5. "High-Res" Avatar Textures It appears that in some situations, higher resolution textures may now be employed to make trainer avatars look a little nicer. Several pieces of metadata involving this change refer to the conditional new HighResTexture - all involving avatar display. 6. PokeBall & Catch "Bullseye" Tweaks Though we doubt this change will alter the physics of throwing/catching mechanics, two new 'states' have been encoded more explicitly for Poke balls: idle and breakout. This may be an attempt to resolve a glitch in the catching flow. Perhaps more interestingly, however, the bullseyeCollider metadata attribute has been removed and replaced with a bullseyeBaseRadius and BULLSEYE_PLANE_EPSILON attribue. This reflects a tweak in how PokeBall collisions are handled and scored. 7. Lucky Pokemon Backgrounds Fixed (Again) Soon after Lucky Pokemon appeared in all their glittery glory, their extra golden particle effects unfortunately didn't play nicely with the standard background images and effects on the Pokemon details screen. A patch followed soon after to improve this, and it appears an additional tweak was added in v0.125 to further help these particle effects get along. See if you can spot the difference! 8. PokeStop Submissions - Map Marker Placement Fixes The PokeStop submission UI has received a small update to the map marker placement UI. For those involved in the PokeStop submission program already, take a look! New & Upcoming Features Alright, with those out of the way, it's time to look to the future! 9. Healthkit & Google Fit Integration: Adventure Sync! This awesome feature reveal dropped Thursday - and metadata and assets to make this a possibility are definitely the major headliner in this APK version's changes, bringing major new back-end libraries of myriad functionalities. In short, this feature will allow Pokemon GO to tap into the existing health/fitness APIs on Android and iOS to credit you for certain physical activities! Here's what we see: Permissions: In order to get credit for activity via HealthKit or Google Fit, the Pokemon GO app will need permissions to run background services on your mobile platform's operating system. From what we can make out, it may require background location permissions and your OS's fitness API permissions. Notifications: It appears that push notifications will be shown for: EggHatch BuddyCandyFound What Activities 'Count' Fitness data is retrieved by/sent to the app in what are called Fitness Samples in the mobile SDK jargon. These samples are basically timestamped pieces of fitness data, and can come in several types. Here are the types we see evidence of support for in the upcoming integration: DistanceWalkedMeters StepCount CaloriesBurnedKcals ExerciseDurationMi WheelchairDistanceMeters WheelchairPushCount Remember, not all of these are necessarily expected to be implemented into production, but we at least know the app is hard-coded to accept fitness samples with these 6 types. Notably, the journal entry for Fitness logging still only has one field for DistanceWalkedKm. Hypothetically, this could simply be a catch-all field that incorporates steps, etc. But it may also indicate that only distances moved will count. Time will tell, but we're crossing our fingers for support for multiple of these activity types! Weekly Rewards & Reports For more info about the Fitness feature's rewards and the upcoming 'Fitness Report' UI, check the v0.119.5 APK teardown where these first appeared! 10. New Devices Support: Smart Watches & Other Bluetooth Peripherals! This was a rather complicated breadcrumb trail to make sense of, travelers, as several naming conventions collide in the APK here. However, what follows is our best, educated guess at what the APK's many changes here mean for the future: Smart Watches Until this update, the Pokemon GO+ was the only Bluetooth peripheral supported in the APK. Meanwhile, the Apple Watch app was a 'watch version' of the Pokemon GO app that ran on a separate operating system (WatchOS) and relied on a paired mobile phone app. It looks like things are about to change. The GO+ Bluetooth library appears to have now been broken into three distinct services: PgpDeviceService (the Pokemon GO Plus) FitnessDeviceService (brand new) WatchDeviceService (brand new) Smart Watches It's still very unclear whether Android smart watches will receive a full replica of the Apple WatchOS app - or if they'll simply be leveraged for fitness data tracking. But it is our initial impression after reviewing the evidence that non-WatchOS smart watches may function very similarly to the GO+ device. We'll be watching this with great interest for our travelers sporting Android Wear watches! Other Bluetooth Peripherals It appears that the Bluetooth connection code has been extended to incorporate support for several new things: Connection Authorization via Certificate verification Sending two Fitness metrics: CaloriesBurned and ExerciseTimeMs And curiously, what looks like a newly added ability to detect Legendary Pokemon alongside standard Nearby or UncaughtPokemon (which have long been delineated on the GO+ via green and yellow lights, respectively) This is a very interesting turn of events. We expected a new device ID to be added in preparation for the PokeBall Plus (the upcoming, GO-compatible peripheral for Pokemon Let's Go). But the ability to send fitness data is supported by other APK additions referring to 'fitness devices' as well. It appears the Bluetooth library may have the potential to become a Swiss army knife for peripherals - supporting both the PokeBall Plus and potentially various certified fitness trackers. We're also very curious why the Bluetooth peripherals would need the ability to send or receive a 'Legendary' request. To date, no legendaries have been encounterable in a situation where peripheral use would be possible. Admittedly, this is a very small bread crumb. (But... I'd bet a Dr Pepper that we see a Meltan/Melmetal experience in 'Let's GO' (or even GO?) that involves peripherals in some fashion.) 11. Multi-User Passcode Redemption Added Passcodes have been available in-game for a long while - but apparently a new error code has just been added called OVER_PLAYER_REDEMPTION_LIMIT indicating certain passcodes may be redeemable multiple times. Interesting... And you've made it to the end, travelers! For the first time, Pokemon GO is about to get proper background tracking support - something many on the Road have longed for since before launch. We have high hopes for the implementation, and would love to see additional fitness types (like bicycle riding) receive support in-game for the 'adventures outdoors' Niantic is focused on advocating. Now that the Pokemon GO client can remain fully closed during these 'higher risk' outdoor fitness activities, perhaps liability may be sufficiently reduced such that we can see this happen. At any rate, we're crossing our fingers and are happy to see the momentum. Now, to quickly recap what was not added in this APK version: no new moves, cries, species entries or forms were added. Finally, as we wrap up and (finally) head to bed, one personal aside from myself: We've had nearly ten thousand new faces join us since our last teardown 2 weeks ago. (!) To everyone new to the Road: welcome! I'd invite you and our veteran travelers alike to join us in helping keep the Silph Road a place to learn and enjoy this game together. You should know: snark, elitism, and rudeness have no place here! If you see this happening on our boards, please report the offending comment and we'll quickly help relocate the offending visitor to a new community. Ain't nobody got time for knuckleheads here. The Silph Road team founded the Road out of nostalgia and the love of Pokemon to be a rather unique community among gaming forums - and together our travelers have done remarkable things. I invite you to join us in helping foster a culture of helpfulness, knowledge-sharing, and friendliness. It only takes a few friendly comments to make a whole board awesome. :) Travel safe, - Executive Dronpes - submitted by /u/dronpes to r/TheSilphRoad [link] [comments]

Android is in desperate need of a smartwatch as good as the Apple Watch
After seeing the recent Apple event and just how much they were able to pack into the newest Apple Watch, I absolutely believe that Apple is completely destroying WearOS watches in the same way their iPad did with Android tablets. I'm seriously thinking of switching back to the iPhone for a while now and seeing just how much better of a smartwatch I could get if I do switch supports that. I know I probably sound like some kind of fanboy as such a post would sound completely ridiculous if I were talking about for example phones as there aren't that many quality differences between the higher priced brands but I believe just like with tablets, android watches are just so much worse in the same price bracket that it should be talked about. WearOS watches either cost just as much or more as the standard Apple Watches for way less features (no GPS, no LTE, no NFC, worse battery life, worse sport tracking features, worse and fewer apps and so on) while featuring a much bulkier and or uglier design that's unusable for people like me with smaller wrists or they find a niche where they for example don't cost that much to make the small featureset more bearable. This year Apple widened this gap even further now that the Apple Watch even supports EKG capability, an even faster 64 bit processor, a larger more edge to edge display and other features like fall detection all while making it slimmer. All with the same great battery life that only Samsung can match in a bigger Form factor and all of that in two sizes, one of which is one of the smallest of any smart watch. At this point if you're an android user the only watches that make sense to buy are very cheap WearOS watches or Samsung Watches but if you don't want those you're left out because WearOS doesn't have anything to compete with these new Apple Watches and with Google not releasing a Pixel Watch this year which they couldn't win with hardware wise anyway and Qualcomm after many years only releasing a new chip that's still 28nm the future for Android watches looks dim. submitted by /u/Spaghetti_Ikari to r/Android [link] [comments]

Apple is demoing the Apple Watch on stage right now, what are /r/android 's thoughts on the device?
Perhaps asking this here is biased but let's hear some thoughts and get a healthy discussion going. Here's Verge's Live blog: http://live.theverge.com/apple-watch-macbook-liveblog-march-2015/?_ga=1.108976706.1318181320.1425919416 EDIT: Prices announced. Apple Watch Sport: $349/$399 Apple Watch: $549/599 Apple Watch Edition: $10,000+ 18 hour battery. EDIT# 2 - Thanks a lot guys for the amazing feedback and keeping the conversation healthy. I'll try to summarize everyone's view here. Pros: New features like Apple Pay More apps at launch than Android Unique band switching system with a decent number of bands to choose from. Also creates a market for third party exclusive accessories. Cons: Price - ranges from $350 all the way up to $17999. Design and UI for majority of the users. Lack of message about why I need one. Apart from few apps, nothing seems unique to the Apple version of the form factor. 18 hour battery life, plenty of Android Wear devices already doing up 2 days. So far, I think /r/android is unimpressed but excited to see what this means for Android Wear and how does the entire form factor move forward. Also, I feel like I should point out that BBC picked on this thread and even quoted a user. Thanks again guys, you've been a pleasure. submitted by /u/jackie89 to r/Android [link] [comments]
