I am a new user of the Anker SOLIX E10 System and require technical assistance regarding solar charging. My setup includes two Power Modules with three batteries each, a Smart Generator 5500, and two PS400 Portable Solar Panels. While I can successfully charge the batteries from both the grid and the Smart Generator, I am encountering issues with the solar panels. When I connect a solar panel to the Power Module and turn the PV switch on, the system does not charge. Additionally, the Anker app does not show that any solar panels are connected. I’ve been testing my outage setup a bit more seriously this year, and I’m starting to think the most practical setup for me probably isn’t generator or solar or battery. It’s more about getting them to cover each other’s weak spots. I still see the generator as the thing I’d rely on if an outage goes long or the weather is bad. Solar is helpful when the sun cooperates, but obviously I don’t want to plan everything around perfect weather. The part that has made the setup feel a lot less annoying is adding a battery in the middle. Right now I’m using an Anker F3800 for that role. I know a DIY battery/inverter setup would probably be better value if you really know what you’re doing, but I wanted something I’d actually use and test instead of turning backup power into another project I keep postponing. The basic routine so far: let solar help during the day when it can, run the generator only when I actually need to recharge or cover heavier use, then let the battery carry the boring stuff through the quieter hours. Mostly fridge, router, lights, fans, charging, that kind of thing. For people here running some mix of generator, solar, and battery backup, how did you end up sizing the battery side? I'm starting to think through backup power before hurricane season. I've seen a few whole-home-ish battery options like the Anker F3800 Plus, EcoFlow Delta Pro, etc., and the appeal is obvious, such as no fumes, less noise, indoor use, and no need to store a bunch of gas. But I also know hurricanes can mean several cloudy days, limited solar input, and outages that last longer than expected. Gas generators seem more proven for long outages, but they come with their own issues: fuel storage, maintenance, carbon monoxide risk, noise, and finding gas after a storm. I hope the flair I picked is ok for this post. Anyways, I’ve read post after post, review after review, but I’m still unsure which brand to get. I don’t want to go the DIY route and buy inverters and batteries and all that.. I want to buy a plug and play unit. My biggest concern (after reading reviews on several different brands) is getting a faulty unit and having to fight for a refund/replacement with seemingly non-existent customer service. I’ve been looking at mostly Jackery and Anker. Pecron looks like they have great deals but I’ve seen some concerning reviews regarding faulty units and terrible customer service in regards to replacements and refunds for missing orders. A lot of the sales look like they end tonight so I’m really trying to make my final decision. I just want to hear from people who have owned and used their units and can give me their honest feedback. What was your experience and what do you recommend? Hello, I’ve got a new-to-me 2022 Solis 59PX with the stock AGM batteries. I’ve been looking to see how I can get more quiet time off shore power either keeping the existing or potentially replacing them with lithium. I already swapped the stock PWM for a Victron 100/30 MPPT which does a great job keeping the batteries up during the day, and I have no issues running everything. They sit around 12.5-12.55V in the morning after resting with no shore power, but if the fridge is running all night, they will be at 12.0V or even less by morning (this also causes the Truma to act up). Other than the fridge and Truma, I’d like to run a Starlink Mini and charge my laptop. I’ve been carrying 2x288Wh chargers to keep the laptop charged, and sometimes the Mini plugged in. Obviously I have the gas generator that I can use, but when needed, I’m looking for a quieter solution. I’m torn between two setups that I think would work: Grab an Anker C2000 (2048Wh) with the RV hookup and call it a day keeping the stock AGM until they completely die. Cost: < $800. Can plug needed things directly into it or use it as overnight shore power. Can also get an expansion battery for an extra $500 that doubles the capacity. Can also look at something like the F3000 Pull the AGMs, replace the alternator charger with a 50A DC - DC Orion charger and go with LiTime 165Ah self-heating and a shunt vs. the 100Ah Victron connected batteries. Is the extra capacity of the 165Ah heated batteries worth losing the Victron communication? Still need to run the generator for AC or spend more money on a 12v AC. Cost: close to $2000 for lithium install since I’d need some paid help installing it and that doesn’t include swapping the AC. I live in the South but spend 2-3 weeks up North in sub-freezing temps, so I’m worried about the batteries being exposed under the rig. When up north, I will have access to shore power most of the time. Do I need to worry about anything else in the van if I make the jump to Lithium? Is it better to simply use an external generator + the built in generator when appropriate and keep the AGM? **Update: This is what I am going to do: I decided to go with the batteries. There is 220W solar on top with a port to accept another 175W, shore power and the alternator. I got the DC -> DC charger for the alternator, upgraded from PWM to an MPPT solar charger, and will install a shunt with a temperature probe and upgrade the shore power converter since it doesn't adjust to lithium. I ordered two 165AH batteries, Group 31, self heating that will slide into the existing. I'm installing the batteries, charger and shunt this week, and will install the converter when it gets here (the existing is disconnected for now). Both batteries have a BMS with Bluetooth, but everything else is Victron, so I also wanted to get it all in the Cerbo so I could see what was going on when not right at the van. These batteries just need to run a fridge, charge phones/tablets/low power laptops (MacBook Air and Snapdragon devices) and Starlink without me worrying that they will be done by morning. I will be connected to shore power most of the time or I have the built in gas generator under the van as well. I was wondering if solar could be added in this situation: House has a natural gas fueled whole house backup generator (it is a Briggs & Stratton, these are also sold under the General Electric brand and are less expensive than but otherwise very similar to the better known Generac brand generators) and it has a Symphony II automatic transfer switch. If the power goes out, the transfer switch waits ten seconds to see if the power will come back, then it starts the generator, then it waits about 30 seconds for the generator to come up to speed and stabelize, and then it transfers the entire house to the generator power. It also has a circuit that prevents the air conditioning from being restarted until another 5 minutes have passed. My though would be that I could get a "solar generator" made by one of the big names (Anker, Bluetti, Jackery, Echoflow, Pecron, Oupes, etc.), just something that would take solar input directly and would output a sufficient quantity of 240 volts A/C power to run the entire house, possibly between 15 and 20 kW. I would want it to primarily charge from solar, and then at night keep the battery topped off from commercial power until a few hours before sunrise. During summer days I would want it to switch to solar+battery power every weekday between 2 and 7 PM to avoid using peak rate power from my local electric utility. Also ideally, I would like it to take the place of the whole hose generator during a power outage. I would want it to switch to battery backup power immediately (less that 10 ms delay preferably) if commercial power is lost, and run the house on solar (if available) plus battery until the battery gets nearly depleted or the power comes back. If the battery is nearly depleted then I'd want it to start the generator and use the generator to power the house and recharge the battery, then when the battery has sufficient charge (or the solar panels start producing enough energy to run the house and change the battery) it would stop the generator and go back to running off the battery. I saw one system that was capable of doing this type of operation (I think) but AFAIK it could only work with a generator from the same manufacturer, and that generator was more or less a portable unit. I would want to keep using my existing whole house generator, but only as a secondary input to recharge the batteries if they get depleted, and to run the house while the batteries are recharging. I woudl want all the power transfers to happen automatically and quickly enough that computers still work (without putting a separate UPS on each). So basically the three possible power sources for the house would be: Solar + batteries - least espensive, maybe free. Commercial power - more expensive, especially during the summer peak rate period. Whole House Generator - the cost of natural gas and manitenence make it the most expensive option. This system should be able to work regardless of whether solar panels are connected (if none are it would just function as a battery storage unit for commercial power). And IDEALLY its app(s) should connect using BlueTooth, not WiFi. I do not want anything that insists on "phoning home" to the manufacturer if I can possibly avoid it. Will any of the units from the large manufacturers work this way. The videos I have watched (and I have watched a lot of them) don't even mention the possiblity of interfacing with an existing whole house backup generator. Hey there. My husband and I are trying to prepare for whatever nonsense is coming and we have no clue what we’re doing. We need to be able to cool and heat the house with portable heaters and AC units, run a few appliances (fridge and freezer, possibly hot water heater), the internet, and charge electronics. We are looking at the anker f3800. We only have electric heaters to plug in—I don’t think a generator can keep a furnace running—correct? Is it even reasonable to think a water heater can be used with a generator? Is the anker the right generator to look at? The videos Ive seen suggest putting in a sub panel for only those things you want to power and connecting it that way, but we are more likely to just leave it near the appliances it needs to keep running and plug directly in. Like I said—we have no real clue what we’re doing with this, but we’d like to get the generator now, if possible. Are we on the right track? Any suggestions of a different setup? I am brand new to doing things like this. I have an Anker Solix C2000 gen2, and I also have two 200W EcoBoss MK30-200 panels. I’ve tried a single panel, and two in series. I don’t have a cable presently to try parallel. I’ve checked the DC voltage on the xt60i connector with my multimeter and it’s currently showing 50V in series, and 32 with a single panel since it’s currently below freezing. I don’t have the ability to check amps with my existing tools. The c2000 gen 2’s PV input limits are as follows: 11V-28V 8.2A, 28V-60V 17A 800W max The EcoBoss panels are voc (V) 23.06, ISC (A) 10.32, VMPP (V) 20.84, IMPP (A) 9.60 Do I need a separate charge controller for this? With the panels amps being over 10? I "panic" purchased a (120v) Champion generator to have prior to the storm. The main feature was that I actually got it delivered prior to the storm. The worst of it barely missed us, so it is still in the box. We were stuck without power for a couple days in Idaho (recent 80 mph winds). I have a 3 year old daughter. It was stressful due to not being prepared enough. We were without any kind of heat. If nothing else, I'd feel much better having something to run our heat source. My goal is to be able to run a pellet stove for 8-10 hours at a time without recharging. The pellet stove has an initial startup at 250 watts for the first 15 min. It then runs at 60 watts. Figure if we can at least stay warm it would be much easier on all of us. I have an off-grid cabin. I used to have an old solar setup, but I recently took the whole system down. The cabin isn’t very big and we sometimes go there on weekends with the kids. Usually, we stay there no more than two days and our electricity use isn’t very high: at night, we might turn on a few string lights to decorate the cabin and yard.
