RE:If you have low porosity hair watch this
All she's saying is use a clarifying shampoo to remove build-up. You can use black soap or even do an apple cider vinegar rinse.

Stop putting apple cider vinegar on your face to balance skin pH
You wash your face. You see dry patches and acne. You read online about apple cider vinegar. You see videos praising this liquid. You buy a bottle expecting glowing skin. Do not put this liquid on your face. I ruined my skin barrier trying this desi nuskha. Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid. The acid level is high. Skin maintains an acid level around 4.5. People think adding more acid creates a chemical balance. Your body handles internal systems. External liquids do not override human biology. The kidneys and lungs regulate internal body chemistry. You damage your skin when you apply vinegar. Osmosis forces moisture out of your cells. The acid strips away oils. The protective barrier breaks down. We live in extreme weather across India. Mumbai humidity breeds fungus when you add acid. Delhi winters dry out your face. Our taps supply hard water. Hard water contains calcium and magnesium deposits. These minerals react with acetic acid. You create salts right on your skin surface. The combination causes dermatitis. People leave vinegar on their skin for an hour. Concentrations over 10 percent burn human tissue. Exposure over 15 minutes destroys skin cells. Stop applying acids to your face. Use mild products instead. Buy Patanjali Kesh Kanti shampoo to remove hard water buildup. Install an Aquaguard water filter in your bathroom. Use soothing ingredients like neem oil or aloe vera gel. Apply Himalaya or Patanjali moisturizers after washing your face. Some people insist on using vinegar. Mix one drop of vinegar with three drops of water. Do this once a week. Wash the solution off. apple cider vinegar helps SO much
i have fine hair, but a good amount of it. dry, frizzy, gets greasy in 2 days. heat or no heat, no matter what shampoo and conditioner i use i use apple cider vinegar after shampooing and it genuinely helps. makes it less frizzy, takes 3-4 days to get greasy instead of two. especially when i finish my hair with cold water after. sooo helpful submitted by /u/alaniluv to r/finehair [link] [comments]

personal + gifting friends & family haul [skin/body/hair/care]
Hello there, before anyone gets the wrong idea: Nope, I'm not using all these products by myself. That would be quite insane and not possible. I do massive hauls every two years to get products for myself and majorly for my family and friends. I actually love gift-giving. It brings me such immense joy that I genuinely cannot explain in words. Around 90% of this stuff isn't for me. My mom and sisters do skincare, and so do all of my friends. My friends had a wish list of both skincare and other items, so I thought to get these to surprise them. This is like a late New Year's + Valentine's present. The only products I use here are: HaruHaruWonder Black Rice Cleansing Gel Kose Speedy Softymo Cleansing Oil Tsubaki and Fino Hair Masks Aestura Ato Barrier Cream Kisocare Azelaic Acid 20% S.Nature Aqua Squalene Cream Toners from Laneige, Dr Ceuracle and Aestura SPFs from BOJ, Round Lab and House of Hur The expiry dates for most are somewhere around March of 2028, so I will use them up by then, or even earlier this year as I tend to use a lot of the product. I will never allow any waste of the products I buy. I ordered everything from Yesstyle. Here is the list of items. I've arranged them into categories. Before & After Cutting Length and Dyeing My Hair
Hi! I’m sharing my current curly hair routine and would love any feedback. Hair & Background: I have medium-density curly hair. I recently cut my hair from mid-back length to a medium length (just above the trapezius/collarbone area) and also had it professionally dyed. I don’t chemically straighten my hair. Wash Schedule: I wash my hair every 2–3 days. Between washes, I thoroughly rinse my hair with water only. Cleanse: On wash days, I start by rinsing my hair thoroughly with water. I then use VIONA 2% ketoconazole shampoo, applying it mainly to my scalp, letting it sit briefly, and rinsing thoroughly. About once a month, I use AG Care Balance & Boost Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo instead. Condition & Treatments: After shampooing, I condition with SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner, applying it to mid-lengths and ends and rinsing it out fully. Every 1–2 weeks, I use AG Care Nourish Snow Mushroom Moisture Mask in place of regular conditioner, leaving it on for a few minutes before rinsing. About once a month, I also use AG Care Balance & Boost Apple Cider Vinegar Conditioner. Leave-In & Styling: Immediately after turning off the shower, while my hair is still very damp, I apply my leave-in and styling products. First, I use AG Care Fast Food Leave-On Conditioner (about a half baby-carrot sized amount), scrunching it into my hair and up toward the roots. Then I apply AG Care Re:coil Curl Activator, using about 1–2 pea-sized amounts, and scrunch again. Drying: I diffuse my hair, spending time diffusing all the way down to the scalp to maximize curl definition and spring. Sleep Routine: I sleep on a silk pillowcase. I used to sleep with a silk bonnet, but found it compressed my curls too much overnight. Since my hair is shorter now, the pillowcase alone has been working better for preserving curl shape. Notes: Since cutting my hair shorter, my curls feel noticeably bouncier, springier, and more alive. My hair is much easier to manage and control at this length, and my curl pattern really shows up better overall. I’m really happy with how light and healthy it feels now. Open to any routine feedback or styling suggestions. Thanks! submitted by /u/picturesofmonsters to r/curlyhair [link] [comments]

Neutrogena Anti-Residue Replacement: Head&Shoulders Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo
Since it was discontinued no other product has even come close. I have fine and thin hair and no matter what I use it gets build-up/sticky. I used to use the Neutrogena 1-2x/week and it was the only thing stopping my hair from being a filmy greasy mess. After YEARS of trying every clarifying shampoo under the sun Head & Shoulders Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo actually works. Ingredients are similar and my hair is actually clean clean for the first time in literal years. My hands and brush would just get tangled and my hair had a film nothing could break down. Now it's clean and soft. submitted by /u/KittenKingdom000 to r/Haircare [link] [comments]

Question about Dead Sea Salt and Apple Cider Vinegar
Ive been trying a lot of things to help with my scalp psoriasis. Recently used the lactovit urea body wash for my scalp because I wasn't having any luck finding a proper shampoo. Needless to say it didnt work but it got me thinking about how the form the ingredient comes in could impact its effectiveness. Gonna try urea in the form of a cream now but Ive heard a lot about dead sea salt and apple cider vinegar as descalers as well. In the case of dead sea salt has anyone had any luck using it outside of bathes, like pouring water with it onto their scalp or using it infused in a shampoo? Because I don't have access to a bath right now. With apple cider vinegar is it best to just use it raw or can it work in the form of shampoo too? Also with urea I found a cream to use for my next attempt but I'm kind of worried about the ease of getting in into my scalp(3c hair) are there any other forms it comes in to make it easier on thicker hair? submitted by /u/hirkajnu to r/Psoriasis [link] [comments]

How often should I use the Aveeno apple cider vinegar shampoo if I have shorter low porosity hair?
I have low porosity hair that's a bit on the shorter side, slightly above my shoulders. I have the apple cider vinegar shampoo from Aveeno and the hydrating avocado shampoo from Cantu. I want to know how often is too often to use the Aveeno shampoo as I'm worried that I'm drying my hair out, but I'm also worried about using it not often enough as i might get build up too often and could have less volume. The conditioners in my routine are the faith in nature conditioner and Garnier banana hair food (which I only use occasionally, I mainly use the FiN one) submitted by /u/KingKilo9 to r/curlyhair [link] [comments]

Locs smell when wet and Apple cider vinager
I sprayed my locs with vinegar, rinsed really well then wash and conditioned only to find that my locs smelled HORRIBLE! Each time I wet them, the smell is revived. I'm gonna wash them again today but I notice my locs always smell when wet but when dry, they smell fine. I dry with 2 towels then I air dry and they dry within a couple of hours but I've been battling the mold/mildew smell the entire time. My hair will smell like shampoo/conditioner for a day or two then once wet, they smell off. I wash 1-3x weekly due to my gym~flow. Does anyone have any shampoo recommendations? I'm 1 year in but I'm ready to shave my head because I've been dealing with this for the entire year! submitted by /u/Rns4lyfe91 to r/Dreadlocks [link] [comments]

Boyfriend does not wash his hair; what to do?
Originally posted by user CatObsesseddd in r / hygiene [sub to discuss hygiene related concerns] Original: Dec 10, 2024 Update: (in post itself) Update 2: April 30, 2025 (in post itself, date given by OOP) Status: concluded ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original: My boyfriend stopped washing his hair about 2 years ago Is it gross to only wash your hair 2x a week with straight apple cider vinegar? He is trying to fight hair loss and read somewhere that shampoo makes it worse. He refuses to use shampoo anymore, and it's been that way for 2 years. His scalp does not smell good, even after "washing" it. He wears hats all day every day and works in metal fabrication. His side of the sheets are stained and his pillow (brand new) is already stained through the pillow case, but that could just be because he works in metal fabrication?? Or sweats at night?? Please help me get over the fact that this grosses me out (yes I've told him this and he doesn't care) or explain to me that it is cleaning his scalp/hair so I can get over my discomfort and move on! Thank you in advance! -------------------------------------------- Comments: Comment1: There are shampoos that purport to stop hair loss - Minoxidil, Hims, Nioxin. Maybe suggest that he consider using these shampoos or topical methods like Rogaine/Minoxil.... Or he'll be losing a lot more than his hair if he doesn't stop being so gross. 😉 OOP: Lol agreed and he uses minoxidil foam every morning and night, but I feel like it isn't working because his hair isn't clean Comment2: This would be my ick. Cleanliness is important. OOP: Yeah...that's why I decided to post and ask because idk if I can take it anymore. I'm super hygienic and made that clear before we made things official and he was too, but 2 years in switched to this Comment3: Apple cider vinegar?! That stuff smells vicious! There's shampoo for hairloss. Wearing a hat all the time is only making his hair loss condition worse OOP: I told him that and he didn't believe me..fml Comment4: I feel like there's something else going on here. Your boyfriend believes something he read, but doesn't believe any other evidence? Does he have someone backing up these claims that not washing hair will prevent hair loss? He's doing the opposite of what should be done. He's going to clog those pores up and cause a lot of scalp problems. I am just really wondering what is behind this whole thing. Why is he so afraid that he's going to lose his hair? I would suggest that he might need to see a therapist. Thinking that he should only wash his hair once a week or once every two weeks would be one thing. To never wash and not recognize how gross that is indicates to me some sort of underlying issue. Comment5: I can't believe you've been putting up with this for so long. Washing twice a week in and of itself isn't enough for people with short hair. If he has long hair it might be okay, if he's using shampoo, but he isn't. A lot of people seem to think vinegar can replace soap, and it sort of can when you're cleaning surfaces in your home, but it's not an adequate substitute for laundry detergent*, and it's definitely not an adequate replacement for body wash or shampoo! So no, he's definitely not cleaning himself properly, and poor hygiene can absolutely be a dealbreaker for a relationship. I hope you're not the one laundering his nasty pillowcases! (but deep down, I'll bet you are, and I need you to know you deserve better) If he's really worried about hair loss, he needs to talk to a doctor, or at least a barber, someone who knows what they're talking about, not some quack on the internet. *yes, you can soak laundry in vinegar or use vinegar in the rinse cycle to soften and deodorize clothing, but it's not detergent, you still need detergent! OOP: Thank you, I needed to hear this. I've told him this and he does have chronic back acne and I told him why but he doesn't believe me. And yes I wash his pillow case and yes, I about gag every time. Comment6: ….. he’s trying to fight hair loss… but he wears a hat everyday…..? Does he not know that wearing the hat is likely causing traction alopecia? OOP: I’ve told him this, he refuses to not wear hats unless socially unacceptable (funeral) I think because he’s insecure about the hair loss. He’s refused to go to a nice restaurant with my parents and I because they don’t allow hats inside. We never go to nice restaurants so I was pretty upset Comment7: If he is serious about preventing hair loss, he should see a specialist. Or at least do more serious research. Its likely that they will recommend that he stops his twice weekly acv rinse. I know plenty of men that are scared of hair loss, or are actively fighting hair loss, but no one go so far as to not wash their hair in two years. It sounds a bit obsessive, in my non professional opinion. Also wearing a hat all day is going to cause more traction, on top of the clogged pores, and heavy unwashed hair... Something isn't clicking here. It sounds like a mental block, in addition to a hygiene issue. As for the stains, my partners side of the bed gets stained too- sweat and body oils. And he is super clean. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Hey all thank you for all the suggestions and comments. I’ve read them all and digested them. Firstly, we’ve been through a lot together, making the solution of “just leave” not my first thought because I want this to work. He’s a good man that has been misled by information, I think so anyway. We had a conversation the night I posted this and it didn’t end well, at all. He gave me the silent treatment after I brought it up and just said “I’ll just shave my head” over and over any time I tried to talk to him about other options. I never said for him to shave it, but he was insisting, I’m guessing to stop it from even being a conversation. He was mad and being not nice to me at all when he did actually respond. I slept in the living room because I wanted to give him space. In the morning he was leaving for work and he said bye and I said that’s all you have to say to me? Then he proceeded to say some hurtful things to me, that I only care about my own feelings, not his and I don’t want to help his problem, but to help myself. When he said that I got extremely sad and upset because he should know me better than that after the length of time we’ve been together. I told him that if that’s how you view me then why am I even here because that’s not how I am at all and he knows this. I think his ego was hurt? I told him that I genuinely do not think what you are doing is helping you nor is it healthy if your hair and scalp smells, and it’s also affecting me more than I’d like so I was hoping we could find something you are okay with that also makes me feel better about the situation. Then he left for work. That night we talked about it again, wasn’t getting anywhere as he refused to consider using shampoo, fine whatever as long as it doesn’t smell idc what you do or use. But it got into an argument about my motive for the conversation again, and only wanting to help myself. Only caring about myself, which I again explained it is about me but you as well. It’s about both of us. Something you’re doing is bothering me to this extent and I’d like to try to find a compromise. He could not accept that as the truth for whatever reason and I have always been a very honest person. At one point I just cut him off and said “why are we even arguing about this? You need to wash your hair, it smells and it’s gross and this shouldn’t even have to be more than a simple conversation, idc if you don’t use shampoo so long as your hair doesn’t stink and leave residue. What are we doing” then we sat in silence for a while, I was fuming. After calming down, he settled on trying baking soda paste with white vinegar, as some of you had suggested, and if that doesn’t work he said he’d try a conditioner cowash. I am okay with this solution, but we didn’t get there without a lot of unnecessary arguing. I’m still pretty upset but I’m letting him try to keep his word on what he said he’d try. If he doesn’t then I’ll reevaluate. Thank you all again for your help and comments, they helped more than you think. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update - (4 months later) I broke up with him last night. I couldn’t take this problem anymore along with many many others. I deserve someone who will wash their hair and it not be a blowout fight. Thank you to everyone who commented, I’m going to focus on myself and try to have fun with my life as I haven’t in 5 years. Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMINDER: I am not OOP. Do not comment on original post or harass OOP. Tried an apple cider vinegar rinse instead of clarifying shampoo
And I'll never go back. Used my shampoo & conditioner as usual and then I did the apple cider vinegar rinse. Mixed 2 tablespoons with 1 liter (33.8 oz) of water, massaged it into my scalp & hair, let it sit for about 3 minutes and rinsed it. Towel dried it, applied my leave in as usual, let it air dry. All the stringiness is gone. It's been years since my hair looked this good. My scalp has been a bit itchy lately but neither dry nor greasy. It's supposed to solve that issue too. I think it's a hormonal thing in my case, but we'll see. Could be worth a shot, if you haven't tried it yet. submitted by /u/Boring_Donkey6433 to r/finehair [link] [comments]

Apple Cider Vinegar does work!
I've been dealing with seb derm on and off for two years and felt like I'd tried everything. Shampoos like Nizoral, Selsun Blue, and Head & Shoulders would work once or twice then stop. I tried different routines (showering daily, every other day, conditioner-only) with no lasting success. It got so unbearable I finally booked a dermatologist appointment. But before I went, I tried an Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) rinse, and my seb derm was almost completely gone after the first try. Here's my routine: 1. Shampoo with Head & Shoulders and rinse. Massage a mix of 1 part ACV to 3 parts water into my scalp and hair. Let it sit for 10 minutes. 3.Rinse the ACV out. I did a quick second wash with Head & Shoulders to get rid of the vinegar smell. Blow dry as usual. My scalp has been clear ever since. I do this routine once a week. Hope this helps someone else! submitted by /u/piesaresquarey to r/SebDerm [link] [comments]

Does anyone use the Aveeno apple cider vinegar shampoo? Is it suitable to be used daily, do you think? I own it and love it but have never tried daily
Tonight I double shampooed with it and I think I love the results (although it’s been a few days and my hair was quite greasy) so maybe twice is too harsh for everyday? submitted by /u/hauntinglovelybold to r/finehair [link] [comments]

WIBTAH if I tell my daughter to start washing her hair with shampoo and conditioner and that her haircare routine is weird?
My 48F daughter 21F has an unconventional haircare routine. She just came home from college for the summer and at some point this spring ditched her shampoo and conditioner for Castile soap and diluted apple cider vinegar. The problem I have with it is that I have a pretty strong sense of smell and her hair smells like the vinegar while it’s wet. I can’t stand the smell and I want her to go back to using shampoo and conditioner. WIBTAH if I tell her to use shampoo and conditioner because the soap and vinegar is weird and smells bad? UPDATE: I talked to my daughter about it. Before I did, I found that the point of the vinegar is to cancel out the soap because the soap is alkaline and the vinegar is acidic. I also knew that she is particular with what kind of products she uses. I also found a hair rinse that Dr. Bronner’s makes a hair rinse with lemon juice instead of vinegar. I told her the smell of the vinegar was bothering me and she told me she uses the vinegar because it’s readily available and relatively inexpensive. I offered to buy her the rinse to use and she agreed so it’s a win-win submitted by /u/Different_Plastic958 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

Will washing my hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar remove the waxy feeling from my hair? Also, will it affect my henna hair color?
Hi all, This is my first ever reddit post, so please bear with me. I started my no poo journey a few of weeks ago, and I honestly have no idea what i’m doing. I started because my hair gets super oily literally the day after I wash it and I wanted to try something new and more natural. I have been washing with only water so far. The water in my area is very hard. I noticed a waxy consistency coating my roots and a quick google search leads me to believe this is because of my water. Would washing my hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar help this? I figured I might as well try it, but thought I could save myself some trouble and ask first. I also dyed my hair with henna about a week ago. The instructions said to apply the henna to freshly shampooed and dried hair. I didn’t want to start over with my no poo journey but I also didn’t want the color to get messed up. So, I shampooed my hair (no conditioner). I have gone back to just washing with water. I also bought a boar bristle brush and a bamboo brush to help disperse the oils through my hair. I’ve noticed that my hair always looks and feels more oily and waxy after brushing. I have noticed that waxy consistency has started to come back since returning to just water washing. This leads me to my questions: Will baking soda and apple cider vinegar help solve this issue? And will it affect my hair color? NOTE: I also included some photos of my hair. My hair is normally very wavy and fluffy with lots of volume. Recently my roots appear much more flat while the ends retain a lot of the fluffiness. Will this go away after my scalp adjusts its oil production? submitted by /u/Intelligent-Factor82 to r/NoPoo [link] [comments]

Aveeno Apple Cider Vinegar Clarifying Shampoo didn't work :(
I'm looking for suggestions for clarifying shampoos that can eliminate my build-up. Someone mentioned the 'squeak test' in another thread and it's very obvious my hair still has the build-up even after several washes with Aveeno. Thanks in advance for your help, I am beyond frustrated at this point. submitted by /u/OlympicFan2010 to r/finehair [link] [comments]

Sinus rinse with Apple Cider Vinegar cured my chronic sinusitis.
I've been suffering from chronic sinusitis for decades (2-4 times a year), and I have finally found something that finally solved the issue. I used to always end up having to take antibiotics, the strong type such as Ciprofloxacin, because weaker antibiotics would do absolutely nothing (e.g. Amoxicillin). After many years, I started to experience very strong side effects from the fluoroquinolone family type of antibiotics. I can't take these antibiotics anymore, I think that I have developed a severe intolerance to them. This is when I started to look for alternatives. After doing some researches, I've tried everything from grapefruit seed extract (GSE) mixed with the nasal rinse solution and also the baby Shampoo solution. None really gave me any long term satisfying results and I would always end up having to take a dreaded course of fluoroquinolones in the end, after weeks of suffering from the infection. About 2 years ago, I stumbled on some YT video about a guy doing sinus rinses using Apple Cider Vinegar. After reading online about the fact that vinegar dissolves mucus, I decided to give it a try. If you search online, you will mostly find information about putting apple cider vinegar in hot water and inhaling the vapors or drinking it. This did nothing for me. So, for the last two years every time I felt like I was about to get an infection, I did a sinus rinses using the NeilMed solution (sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate standard solution) adding 1 cap of Apple Cider vinegar to the mix. I'm using the "with Mother" type. Do not rinse your sinuses with pure vinegar, you absolutely need to dilute it with water and a saline solution. So for me what works is using a NeilMed bottle (240 ml) adding a cap of apple cider vinegar. I recommend starting with less and see how well you tolerate it. It burns a bit, but it's bearable and you get used to it. The result: 2 years of not getting a single sinus infection. This nasal rinse formula just works (at least for me). It clears the sinuses (everything comes out) and reduces inflammation (better than any steroids or decongestant I have ever tried). This has changed my life and I am so grateful that I have found this remedy. This is not medical advice and I hope that the post won't be deleted because I really believe that it could help other people like me suffering from chronic sinusitis and this is why I wanted to share this information with you all. Edit: This is the exact type and brand of Apple Cider vinegar that I have been using for the last two years. Commonly available, nothing fancy I think. I'm not advertising for them btw. I couldn't care less about the brand, just wanted to share what worked for me. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Bragg-Organic-Raw-Unfiltered-Apple-Cider-Vinegar-with-Mother-32-Fl-Oz/32590745 submitted by /u/Sinus3000 to r/Sinusitis [link] [comments]
