I have followed the family for almost a year now. Just a few hours ago I unfollowed Logan after his post about “his happy marriage”. Another topic though. The recent outfit of Emily for the ball game was such a big turn off. This is such an odd outfit for a kids game. That being said I know she has mentioned all of these changes are because she wants to get her pink back. Absolutely fair, I think there is way to that while still having decorum around kids events. The Volturi took a munch on #4. This was an after baseball mixed up outfit. She ditched the hat and jersey, yet kept the socks, and threw on a jacket. Then rushed Bella down south. I had a thought about that road trip from Forks to wherever Bella is from. Bella mentions in New Moon when she and Jake pull up to the house and Carlisle’s car is outside that she knows everything about that car from the horse power to the trip (which, is like, not that much, honestly) and that made me wonder. I’m glad the baseball shirt made it as long as it did. Honestly loved the matching uniforms but am still pissed that Beller never got one. It was iconic. Not sure how many onebaggers reach their second decade! I will eventually add it back when the time is right As of this past winter I’ve been trying out a canvas jacket, which could never in a million years fit inside my bag but can be worn while on the move. Stacked on top of my down jacket + hoodie + shirt it gives me maximum cold protection and also has pockets to enable zero-bag travel I added a baseball cap. Purely an aesthetic choice I didn’t even make a new knoll photo, since you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Just pretend the iPad and SSD were replaced by a jacket and hat. And that's literally all the changes since last year! Looking for advice on a potential first date outfit. She’s a friend of a few months, but we have mutual interest in each other, so I’m taking her out on our first date to a minor league baseball game. We already know we will ditch the game about halfway through to go to a trendy but chill bar and grille for dinner. We’re in the Florida panhandle, so it’s still pretty hot out, even at the 6pm start time. It’s forecast to be 88 degrees out. I’d normally dress in an outfit like this on a weekend, but concerned it’s maybe a tad overdressed for a baseball game. Thoughts, advice? Drama post context Less than 24 hours ago, a major league baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins gets extra attention when a Phillies player hits a homerun to the outfield bleachers. In baseball, fans who sit in this area have a decent chance at catching the hit ball, and if you do grab it, you get to keep the ball as memorabilia. Fans from several seats and aisles over will flock to be able to catch the ball, and usually anything goes until someone clearly has the ball in their possession, at which point surrounding fans will give up and cheer for the person who caught it. Except, during this particular game, after a father got the baseball and gave it to his son, an older lady marched over to him and demanded the ball, saying it belonged to her since the homerun ball originally landed very close to her seats. After some arguing, the man relinquished the ball to the lady to keep the peace. This entire confrontation was captured by the stadium cameras here, here, and here, and also nearby fans who started recording when the lady began yelling. D suspects it was a planned event: D: The sudden influx of this type of stuff (ball steals, objects thrown, scandals) has made me suspicious that some of them are indeed planned and acted out events, possibly in response to the success of the early few that may have been sincere. Whether by corporations or just individuals seeking attention/views, I don't know. If you really think about it, you could pay some homeless 1 mil each, fabricate a ceo backstory and the next thing you know you've got patrons lined up to visit and reenact/take selfies at your door. For those asking about players: The players and coaches would likely be innocent, given soft instructions from 'owner to coach to player' things like 'aim for left field' and 'throw a lob.' I’m currently in the middle of planning my June wedding which has been in the works since autumn. About 6 years ago, I planned a wedding with an ex and hated every minute of it, swore I would never wedding plan again after that break up. Fast forward and I’ve met the love of my life and we are so excited to get married; we have a simple dream wedding and I finally convinced myself it would be worth the work to have a wedding day. Wedding planning hasn’t been easy but I grew to really love the things we had in place. We booked a ceremony/cocktail hour venue with a gorgeous view of an urban gorge/waterfall and then we would walk to the nearby minor league baseball stadium for our reception in an event space there. We have also booked a photographer, stylist, transportation, hotel, and honeymoon flights/accommodations based on this date. The date itself is a Wednesday, so things would be quiet and low key, we only invited 30 people. This week, the baseball stadium announced the promotional theme for the night of our wedding reception is “Pride Night.” As a bisexual person myself, I love how much my community embraces the LGBTQ community and that we have a pride night at the baseball stadium - I’ve been an enthusiastic attendee in the past. However, this is not a night I would haven chosen to have my heteronormative wedding celebration at the ballpark. I feel it would be disrespectful to the community to show up in my white dress with my groom and my wedding party. I don’t want to make spectators feel uncomfortable, and I also don’t want to feel like I have to tamper down my wedding day to be respectful of this event. I dreamed of taking pictures in the stands and having my whole party walk to the stadium with flowers and decor for fun photos. I feel like these public celebrations will make me feel imposing or awkward now. The baseball stadium has offered to change our contracted date, but obviously it would require a lot of work to move all my other vendors and arrangements. I could also plan a different reception that day, but a baseball wedding was my dream from the start and I worry I’d be more heartbroken doing something else that day. Not to mention, both these options require a lot of extra work from me that I don’t want to add to my plate. The other option would be to elope, of course, but I’m heartbroken that I’d have to give up my wedding day and professional photos over this. I can’t believe I put in all this effort and money into a day just to be put in a difficult position where I have to choose between respecting a community and having my dream wedding. After a lot of heartfelt reflection, we have decided to continue planning our wedding for that day and joyfully accept the coincidence. I also want to apologize if anyone felt my reaction to this news was homophobic or bigoted- I truly felt I was coming from a place of concern from the community, but realize it was from a deeply rooted internal conflict surrounding my own bisexual identity. I wanted to especially thank those who brought bi erasure to my attention. This was a layer of my emotional reaction that I wasn’t aware of at first. Its not that I wasn’t aware of the issue or that I didn’t feel I was part of the LGBTQA+ community before; but I hadn’t realized how my own identity felt compromised by marrying someone of the opposite gender at a pride event. I am working on embracing this and I am planning on adding some purple, blue and pink to my outfit for the day. Ultimately, I am excited that I get to marry the person I love on the day we picked, regardless of what other celebrations are occurring that day. I think this will add a fun element to our day that make for an even better night of celebrating the love we’ve found. I’m especially grateful for this opportunity to grow in my bisexual identity and celebrate that my wedding isn’t straight regardless of how it appears on the outside, and that’s beautiful, too!
