16 bay charger for AA/AAA top
I primarily run enelop pro and IKEA cells for a mix of kids toys and professional use (wireless mics, etc.). We’re cycling through a lot of AAs, and we constantly end up short on charged batteries. Our 8-bay charger just failed, so I’m looking to upgrade to something in the 16 + bay range to increase throughput. I’ve been looking at the ISDT N16 and N24. On paper they seem solid (independent channels, decent current options, compact footprint), but reviews are mixed. I’m also a bit concerned about long-term firmware support it doesn’t seem like ISDT pushes updates regularly, if at all. SkyRC appears to be more top-tier in terms of charging accuracy and diagnostics, but they only offer 8-bay units, not 16-bay models. For those running a lot of batteris in production environments: Is it better to run two high-quality 8-bay chargers ( eg SkyRC) instead of a single 16-bay unit? Any reliability concerns with ISDT long term Other 16-bay options I should be looking at for heavy battery rotation? + I’d the charger using usb c input Looking for something reliable, accurate, good thermal management, and ideally per-slot control. submitted by /u/rovmun to r/batteries [link] [comments]

Identical looking rechargeable Lithium AA/AAA cells in a charging case on Amazon -- what are the odds of cross-brand compatibility?
About 6-8 months ago I took a leap and bought a set of 4x AAA and 4x AA rechargeable lithium batteries that come in a USB-C connectable charging case. The brand I bought was "Cricket". The batteries have worked out well since then, lasting almost as long as Energizer disposables in my chest freezer temperature monitor. One minor annoyance is that you don't seem to be able to buy extra batteries for this system, just a whole package of batteries+charger. I need 4x AAs for another purpose, so I decided I'd buy another Cricket kit. When looking at the product page, Amazon gave me an alternative that was nearly $10 cheaper, but visually it's the identical product. I think there's at least one other "brand" selling a lookalike product as well. What do you suppose the odds are that the batteries/chargers among these lookalikes are cross-compatible? Ie, I can put "Anengine" batteries in the Cricket charger and vice versa? I bought the cheaper "brand" for extra AAs and of course I'll cautiously try it, mostly because I expect these are pretty much the same product with the usual generic Chinese mixed branding coming from the same factory. submitted by /u/OperationMobocracy to r/batteries [link] [comments]

USB battery pack charging AA enloops? Tell me what I need to know
The thing I’m trying to achieve is keep a Garmin Etrex 20x functioning for an 8 day back packing trip. There ‘may’ be an opportunity for over night mains power halfway round A pair of enloops will typically power it for 2 days I have a Belkin 20,000mAh usb battery pack and I have a usb AA/AAA charger (haven’t got a picture, it’s quite old) that I use occasionally in the campervan. It charges batteries but I’m not sure how efficient it is and how much power is needed to charge 2 enloops The 20,000mAh pack will also need to keep an iPhone charged (back up navigation and comms but largely in a low power airplane mode). I’ll have AirPods and an ereader but they are luxuries that can wait Long term I’m planning on doing a 6 week trip down the tour aotearoa plus the possibility of some other multi week bikepacking trips. I’ve got the etrex 20x, I’ve got the enloops, I’ve got the 20,000mah pack and I’ve got the usb AA/AAA charger. A Garmin 540 or 840 is going to cost NZ$400 second hand What are your thoughts? How much energy is fully charging 2 x enloops likely to use from a 20,000mah pack via usb 🤔 I really like the etrex as a navigation device. It just works 🤠 submitted by /u/SeekerMoto to r/batteries [link] [comments]

Suggestions for Household Battery Charger?
I’m shopping around for a rechargeable battery charger for common household batteries. I only use AA, AAA and rectangular 9V sizes in few devices around my home. However, it would be nice to have a charger that can charge these plus C and D sizes, and lithium, Ni-MH, Ni-Cd and any other common chemistry, just so I can charge these batteries should I need to in the future. But I realize this may be impractical if the cost of such a charger is prohibitively expensive. Any suggestions on what I should buy? submitted by /u/jfklein to r/batteries [link] [comments]

Charging "Gumstick" NiMH batteries with a standard AA-AAA charger
Fairly simple question. I would like to charge 1.2v 1200-1400mAh "gumstick" NiMH batteries using an off the shelf charger for 1.2v AA and AAA NiMH batteries. I have done a little research, and I'm worried that the 250mA charging rate will cause overcharging. The charger I have is the Tenergy TN408U if that changes anything. I am aware that these batteries are too tall to fit this charger, I am planning on making an adapter. submitted by /u/IconicScrap to r/batteries [link] [comments]

I need help finding AA/AAA rechargeable batteries
I recently bought a Linogy battery charger because I’m switching from single-use batteries to rechargeables for household items like remotes and controllers. I currently have 8 Mupoer lithium-ion AA batteries (3600 mWh), and they’ve been working great with no issues and last a very long time in my controllers and rc radio controllers. I originally assumed lithium-ion batteries were better than NiMH because they typically have higher energy capacity (mWh), hold up better under load, and run at a higher voltage (1.5V vs 1.2V for NiMH), with the voltage staying at 1.5V throughout most of the discharge. However, I’m not fully sure if that makes them the better choice for general use. I’m now trying to decide which brand to buy next and whether lithium-ion or NiMH batteries make more sense overall. From what I’ve seen here, Eneloop seems to be a good option. I also need 16 or more of each type of battery AA and AAA , so larger multi-packs would be preferred since it would be cheaper that way instead of multiple small packs. submitted by /u/Jarhead_48 to r/batteries [link] [comments]

Tips to buying a battery charger for small batteries (aaa++)
After yet another christmas where we burn through about 100-150 small batteries for lighting I want to get a rechargable system and a bunch of small batteries, mostly AA and AAA. But the more I look the more confused I get about what features that are actually useful and what features are only adding to the price but not useful. Also what kind of rechargeable batteries to get. So I was hoping to get some tips from here. Thanks in advance submitted by /u/Torquai to r/batteries [link] [comments]

XTAR MX8 and advice for 1.5 V Li-Ion AA and AAA batteries!!!
I picked up the XTAR MX8 because I was tired of rotating eight AA batteries through a smaller charger every time I pulled my trail cams. This one keeps things simple... no buttons, no cycling modes, just a smart eight slot charger that handles NiMH, 1.5 V lithium ion, and the usual 3.6 and 3.7 V lithium ion cells like 18650 and 21700. Slots 1, 2, 7, and 8 can charge at one amp when using four batteries or fewer, otherwise everything drops to 0.5 A. The screen is basic but clear, and the safety features are solid. Reverse polarity protection works exactly as advertised, it stops NiMH at about 1.52 volts, and it has a 16 hour timeout. For my use case... bulk charging eight NiMH AAs at once... it is perfect. I tested a mix of cells and it handled everything smoothly. It even hesitated for a moment on an 18350 while it figured out the chemistry, then switched to the correct voltage and charged as expected. It is not a data heavy charger and does not give capacity numbers, but that is not its role. My advanced XTAR charger still handles the more technical stuff. The MX8 is just a reliable workhorse for large batches, especially for AA and AAA users who want something simple that works every time. Since I am planning to move some devices over to 1.5 V lithium ion AAs and AAAs, I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has used them long term. What brands have worked well for you... how is the lifespan... and do they stay consistent in normal household devices or cold weather conditions. If you have favorites, or brands you would avoid, feel free to share your experience. It will help me narrow down which ones to try next. I'm feeling XTAR since their chargers are so good... but wanted to hear your thoughts if possible. Thanks! submitted by /u/MTN_Man_Reviews to r/flashlight [link] [comments]

Help selecting a household AA/AAA charger - avoid self discharge
As my kids are using more and more AA and AAA alkaline batteries I've decided to improve our rechargable setup. We have a cheap charger and a handful of NiMh AA cells but I've noticed if they sit too long (not sure what "too" long is) they will lose their charge. My cells may not be LSD type so it's possible that's what I'm seeing. Either way, I want to invest in a great charger! Thinking 12 or 16 cell The comments here have made me rethink what I need and I agree with most that 4 or 8 is sufficient, with independent cell charging. The feature I'm not seeing in my research is a "trickle" or "keep topped off" feature. Many have a "Refresh" feature which I may or may not care about, I'm thinking more that cells left in the charger for weeks or months should always be fully charged. Does anyone know of a charger like this? I am prepared to spend money for a reputable and reliable brand. I'm looking at Tenergy at the moment because I have history with them and believe they're a good company that makes quality products, but that may have change as my experience is a decade old. Anyone have a "household" NiMh charger they would suggest that meets my needs? submitted by /u/mabee_steve to r/batteries [link] [comments]

Budget ~$40 or less no nonsense 18650, 21700 (maybe AA, AAA) 4 port non micro USB charger.
Hi, I'm looking for a solid mainly 4 port 18650, 21700 charger that doesn't use micro USB or C, but does use a 12v DC port or USB A. If it could charge AA and AAA Ni-MH NiCd that would be good too. This will mainly be used for flashlight battery charging in the house and off-road camping. I'd prefer a non micro USB because of durability reasons riding around in the truck and just uses a dc port that could be wired to auxiliary battery system (or a usb A would be fine too). Something like the nitecore I4 maybe? If so, which model? Thanks for any help! https://preview.redd.it/989cp67if6kf1.jpg?width=679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7164419b7f941d8127fd9685ef257ccd9251704e submitted by /u/kaptaindeeznutz to r/batteries [link] [comments]

Can battery chargers charge different battery sizes simultaneously?
I just bought a NiMH battery charger that can charge AA and AAA batteries, but it says that it can only charge 2 or 4 AA or AAA batteries at the same time. Need a good AA/AAA and charger, any recommendations?
Used to use Eneloops, but it looks like in the last 10 years, the prices of them have doubled. So what's "the best bang for the buck?" type of AA/AAA rechargeables? Not looking for some off-brand. Also looking for a 6-12 battery charger that doesn't take ages. A lot of the larger chargers seem to "split" the charging power so while the same power supply in a 4 bay would be much faster, it's much slower in a 6-12 bay. submitted by /u/ToshPointNo to r/batteries [link] [comments]

Is there any objective material on whether to get higher priced batteries and in what situations? Are Eveready better thand Duracell? Does it matter if it is a low use device? If it drives a motor?
