40v battery repair guide as cheaply and easily as possible
Credit to Badar for his guide and /u/hooovahh for his findings on using a cheap CMS STM32 debugger in this post. This guide has been created from my discovery of fixing the specific battery OP40602VNM that was experiancing an error that when pressing the button first you see all 4 lights and then you only see the first and third lights with no response to placing the battery in the charger. Be sure to address the underlying issue first. If the cells aren't balanced, then balance them. Otherwise after the reflash it won't be long before the BMS triggers a fault again. Debugger: My discoveries. You don't need the specific STM32debugger that was linked in the original post by hooovahh or the J-Link debugger in Badar's post, any STM32debugger will work. I picked up one with free shipping for $3, here is the one I purchased on aliexpress. What matters is that it has TCK/CK and TMS/IO (Might be labeled differently, but should be close). Additionally you do not need a special cable, just a few dupont cables and a 5-pin 2.54mm male pin header is all you need. Software: Download LinkServer from NXP. After installing run Link Flasher. Wiring: https://preview.redd.it/ott89u4hftpg1.jpg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33a954ba7b6e17e1c215741a8934d41408e51424 https://preview.redd.it/6ufk1gniftpg1.jpg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b0bf842000b19f59672cfc38841a5fb7bec2223 SWDIO and SWCLK are used for what is called the SWD protocol. Using the dupont cables connect the pin headers from the debugger to the 5 pin header in order. GND -> SWD1 GND TCK/CK -> SWD1 SWCLK TMS/IO -> SWD1 SWDO Now simple press the 5 pin header into the SWD1 pin header and press at an angle so that it makes contact to the pins. Dumping: Read the flash and dump by launching the LinkFlasher and selecting the probe it found over USB, then select Device as LPC824:LPCXpresso824MAX, Protocol SWD, Wirespeed 4000000, address 0x0000, size 32768, select the file and click Save. You may have to press the reset button on the battery to wake it up first. The MCU only stays awake for a few seconds after the button is clicked so be quick. https://preview.redd.it/wydcbftrbtpg1.png?width=1163&format=png&auto=webp&s=8472dc368cabca4c688a8b2aa03a9f7365ea3f25 Patching: Patch the dumped file at these locations 00007E00 = 00 00007E09 = 00 Setting those bits to 00 resets any error flags and allows for the BMS to recheck to see if it sees any issues. Flashing: Click the program tab and choose the file that you patched, set the Address to 0x0000 and check the checkbox Reset target after programming. Press the battery button and then click program. https://preview.redd.it/x716u32kctpg1.png?width=1163&format=png&auto=webp&s=076fd2d1b5799c54da91acd1e778478d5ae125e9 Alternative: Alternatively you can dump your firmware as a backup, and then just flash this known good working firmware if you do not care about keeping your serial. Be sure to take a proper backup first because there is no guarantee that this firmware will work on your version. But if you do not want to mess around with editing the hex file yourself it's worth a try. If this bricks your battery further then don't blame me. Here is the github for the firmware that I have collected to date. submitted by /u/laptopfreek0-1 to r/ryobi [link] [comments]

Spent a month and hundreds on mechanics. The solution was a free car battery charger my grandpa gave me years ago
Imagine that the solution I've been throwing money at for over a month was just a car battery charger. And I even had one sitting in my garage that I didn't know would fix it. My car refused to start for over a month. I had several mechanics look at it. Each visit cost me money. They told me different things: alternator issues, starter problems, electrical system faults. One even suggested I sell the car because it wasn't worth fixing. I was about to give up and start looking for a new (used) car, which I absolutely couldn't afford right now. Then I decided to do my own research online out of desperation. That's when I remembered the car battery charger my grandpa gave me about a decade ago. I'd forgotten I even had it. I dug it out of the garage, hooked it up to the battery, waited a bit, and tried starting the car. It started. Just like that. This is the same car multiple mechanics said was done for. I nearly sold it or scrapped it based on their advice. You can't imagine the relief. I saved myself from: - Selling a working car at a loss - Buying another car I can't afford - Paying for more unnecessary repairs The lesson I learned: always exhaust the simplest, cheapest solutions first before spending money. I really don't know how my grandpa got this charger back then, it wasn't common where we lived, and he wasn't tech-savvy enough to order from sites like Amazon and Alibaba. But I'm so grateful he left it behind. That old free charger just saved me potentially thousands of dollars. Always try the basics before paying someone else to tell you it's unfixable. submitted by /u/hav1sh to r/RantingZone [link] [comments]

Recommendations for a battery charger

We had a near miss with a flat battery last week, on a cold (-20°C) winter morning after a dome light had been left on in our 2019 Levorg. I think it's wise to get hold of a battery charger, but the no-name one I borrowed from a neighbour wasn't very good. Has anyone experience of this one, the Noco Genius 5? Do pulse repair chargers really work for lead acid battery desulfation?
I have a deep cycle 180ah lead acid battery 12v in a 48v bank that is causing me to have backup issues because the voltage of that one battery drops quickly the rest stays above 12.2v , i think the culprit is the sulfation as specific gravity is good for all cells . I have watched alot of videos which suggest that just the small desulfators don't work really well but these type of pulse repair 220v charges do work? Thanks Whats your opinion? I survived the war in Bosnia and was wounded several times as a civilian. These are my personal lessons—perhaps not perfect, but learned the hard way. Poverty and scarcity can be just as devastating as shelling.
If you live in the countryside, you have a major advantage over those in cities. If you can, start producing your own food. Food has no price during war. Learn how to obtain and store firewood for heating. Have some tools for that (don't assume you will have fuel for a chainsaw) Learn how to make jams and preserves from fruit and wild berries (keep in mind this requires a lot of sugar). Stock up on lighters, flints, and fuel (or simply buy packs of BIC lighters). Assume you will not have electricity. I didn’t have them back then, but today solar chargers and batteries are widely available, store them. Have rechargeable lamps and flashlights. Gold was worth nothing during the war. Build up honey reserves. Stock edible cooking oil. A bicycle is irreplaceable (make sure you have spare parts also). Have water canisters. Own practical, durable clothing. Have a radio. If you have coffee, someone will always buy it. No matter how much canned food you have, it will never feel like enough. Have some skill (for example know how to repair a chainsaw, bike) edit: I forgot things for hygiene and medicine. Soaps, a lot of soaps, have in mind you may wash clothes manually. Hunting will not be real option, but you may learn how to fish (fishing equipment is cheap now) Pasta is awesome food for storage and for usage. Edit 2: I didn’t have most of things from this list. And I survived. Have some faith :) submitted by /u/donja_crtica to r/prepping [link] [comments]

PLEASE HELP!! Asus Laptop shuts down when charger is taken out, battery won’t charge, and the date is set to 2116
My laptop is an Asus Zenbook, it was bought by my dad in january/fwbruary 2021. Idk the model, and i’m currently locked out my laptop for 2 hours as it says it has shut down too many times and refuses to let me log in. Last time i used my laptop was a month or so ago (late november/early december). It was completely fine and i had no problems!! Today i started it up, was watching a movie, and thought to update my sims game - as sooooonnn as i pressed update, a minute passed and everything suddenly switched off. I thought ‘Wtf?? maybe it died and gave no warning’. I plugged in the charger, and it turned on, however the battery was at 66%. This was at 8PM. It is now almost midnight and it’s still at 66%!!! I’m assuming it’s a dead battery? But idk where to repair it :/ I’m scared to tell my family, because I feel like i’m going to be in trouble and they will be disappointed, but i haven’t done anything to it. I downloaded a new system update, and it took those 4 hours to install, but nothing updated or anything because it shut down when i took the charger out by mistake thinking it probably fixed itself. The date is also now set to new year’s day in the year 2116, and idk how to fix that either 😭 I’m so scared and really panicked!!!! Any clue on what to do? PLEASE HELP MEEEE IM REALLY DESPERATE!!! also sorry if the tag is wrong, idk anything about tech submitted by /u/MARN-E to r/techsupport [link] [comments]

Refurbished Luba 2 5000 will not charge, app shows 0% battery, Mammotion will not cover any repairs under warranty
So this all started back in March of this year (2025) when I wanted to do some pre-season maintenance to my original Luba 1 5000 (purchased around June 2023) by ordering some new cutting plates. When it came time to swap them out, I noticed that the rubber accordion pieces were torn up so I contacted Mammotion to see if those parts could be replaced. They had me send the mower in under warranty for repair and after inspection they deemed the mower unrepairable so they upgraded me to a refurbished (although it seemed practically brand new) Luba 2 5000 since they no longer had any inventory of Luba 1 5000’s. I received the Luba 2 on May 8 but the battery would not charge. I found a post that said to stick a piece of wood under the front wheels and that seemed to get it to charge and the mower functioned normally for the majority of the season without any issues from that point. Fast forward to September 1 (less than 4 full months of service from the Luba 2) I found the mower at the bottom of the hill on my front lawn. I’m assuming it lost power mid-mow and gravity took over once the wheels lost their rolling resistance like when it’s powered on. I carried the mower back to the charger and continued on with my day. A few hours later I realized the Luba 2 never resumed the job so I opened the app and saw that the battery was showing 0%. After leaving the mower on the charging base for a few days (and trying the wood trick a few times) the battery was still showing 0% even though the icon was displaying the flashing green recharging animation in the app, I called the customer service hotline and they created a ticket while offering to send a new charging base station. After going back and fourth over email trying to get shipment updates, I received it 5 weeks later since it was out of stock in their US warehouse and they had to send it from China instead. After hooking it up I still had no luck with getting the mower to charge, so they sent a new power adapter that arrived a week later, but I still wasn’t having any success after being on the charger for several hours with the two new parts. The ticket was then escalated to their technical department to analyze the logs and their diagnosis was that the battery needs to be replaced for $381 ($75 labor, $70 shipping, $236 battery) or receive an 8% discount toward the purchase of a new mower since my original Luba 1’s 2 year warranty had expired even though the Luba 2 shows the warranty is valid until 5/8/2027 in the app. The mowing season had already ended by this time, so I told them I would get back to them after the holidays. So today with the warmer weather we’ve had this week in the South I decided to bring the Luba 2 out of hibernation in the garage and tried charging it again after being in storage for almost two months now, but it’s still displaying the same behavior; 0% in the app with the animated green charging icon and flashing green light on the charging base. I also did see that there is a firmware update available in the app, but I was unable to perform it since the app says it needs to be charged at least 30%. After trying to charge the Luba 2 for an hour I tried to test the battery by doing some manual mowing on the driveway for over 5 minutes to see if it would lose power but it ran fine with the battery displaying 0% the entire time. So I guess I have a few questions for the community at this point: Has anyone had a similar issue with their battery and been successful with it registering a charge? Could this be an issue with the drive board and not the battery as mentioned in this post? https://www.reddit.com/r/MammotionTechnology/comments/1o5ru34/comment/njcehz3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Is there any way to get Mammotion to honor the warranty on the refurbished unit that really only worked for 4 months? I will gladly return the replacement power adapter and charging base if the original parts were not the cause. TL;DR: Received a refurbished Luba 2 5000 as a warranty replacement in May 2025 for my original Luba 1 5000 purchased in June 2023 Mower worked fine for most of the season but died mid-mow on September 1 (less than 4 months of usage) and has been stuck at 0% charge ever since Mammotion sent a replacement charging base; did not fix Mammotion sent a replacement power adapter; did not fix Mammotion says I’m now out of warranty and wants me to send the mower in for a $381 battery replacement or receive an 8% discount toward the purchase of a new mower submitted by /u/errrmahderp to r/MammotionTechnology [link] [comments]

[SSC813] Replacing the battery... Easy Peezy or Seiko Repairer?
Posted a couple weeks ago about getting this charged... Been trying for a few weeks using everyone's tips... From leaving it outside, on the windowsil, under a lamp and even bought a UV watch charger but nothing working so assuming the battery is cooked. Even after 10 hours on the UV charger I bought and I tried the reset but nothing moves. I can't find anything online about the steps... has anyone had any experience? Is it a straight forward process or should I take it to a Seiko repairer or any watch repairer? Thanks! submitted by /u/hoardingeek to r/Seiko [link] [comments]

This is what I call a d**k move
What happened: A client brought me his almost brand-new Asus C424MA Chromebook (only a few weeks old). The laptop wouldn’t turn on — only the battery LED was blinking, with no display. When I asked what charger he was using, he told me he used his phone charger because it was more compact. The problem? That charger was far too weak for the laptop, which normally requires a 45W USB-C power supply. I suspected the issue was just a battery protection state, so I opened it up to reset the battery. Sure enough — after the reset, it worked perfectly. The problem with Asus’ design: When opening the laptop, I noticed two very questionable design choices by Asus: - A screw hidden under foil that’s the exact same color as the chassis. - A screw hidden under a rubber foot, requiring the foot to be peeled off. Why is this an issue? Because the only reason to hide screws this way is so that when a regular user tries to open the device, they’ll likely damage the foil or the adhesive on the rubber foot. This leaves visible evidence, which Asus (or any repair center) can later use to argue that the warranty is void since the laptop was “tampered with.” This kind of “tamper evidence” is not legally enforceable in the EU. Warranty can only be denied if the manufacturer can prove that your actions directly caused the damage. For example, if you carefully opened it to clean dust or reset the battery, and later the screen dies, they still have to honor the warranty because the faults are unrelated. Unfortunately, in practice many service centers will try to use these signs as an excuse to refuse service — even though they’re not legally in the right. Why this matters for regular users: The bigger issue here is that there’s no visible indication of those hidden screws. If an average user tried to open the laptop without knowing, they would probably strip the plastic standoffs or damage the chassis. That’s poor design and anti-consumer. As for why my client didn’t go through official channels: Warranty service would have likely taken days or weeks. He was outside the country where he bought the laptop, which complicates warranty claims. TL;DR: The Chromebook worked fine after a simple battery reset, but Asus’ hidden screws under foil and rubber feet are a deliberate design to catch users out, risking unnecessary damage and giving manufacturers an excuse to deny warranty. Not okay. submitted by /u/Youtube_gameplay_tv to r/pcmasterrace [link] [comments]

Where to get my MacBook charger repaired or diagnosed in Ahmedabad
I have a M2 pro(2022) which comes with a 67W charger and it’s not charging the MacBook properly(it shows the plug icon which means enough power is not being delivered and it charges phone easily meaning it’s not able to deliver high power). The charger is brand new with no scratches & no damage and I only have 19 battery cycle completed in the laptop so I don’t know how has this happened. I have two questions:- Is it possible to repair Apple chargers? If so then should I go to authorised service centre or trusted local repair shop? I have read some negative reviews about authorised resellers for repairing so I don’t know where to go. I have heard few names like Unicorn, RK Apple repairs, F1 info, B2X but don’t know which are good so please share your experiences. Thanks 🙏 submitted by /u/Fantastic_Ninja_2195 to r/ahmedabad [link] [comments]

Batteries and you!: A guide on rebuilding, repairing, and creating M18 batteries
Back by popular request (and yes you are stuck with me) after commenting an abbreviated guide to repairing some batteries another one of y'all went dumpster diving for, here's a full guide on building and repairing M18 batteries. This is going to be quite a long post so here is the link to my comment for a much shorter read. (Link) Figure 1: My custom HOCP4.5 battery I currently do not have any non-functioning batteries so I'm going to utilize mine that I made. I need to resolder some joints anyways, so we are just going to pretend that one cell is dead and is giving us the 3 light error. I will make mention of differences between repair/rebuild, creation, and OEM vs non-OEM as they come up. NOTE: THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO XC6.0 FORGE BATTERIES!!! THEY ARE POUCH CELLS AND ARE ONLY REPAIRABLE VIA MILWAUKEE SERVICE. HD12.0 Forge and XC8.0 Forge use Ampace JP40s instead of pouch cells and as a result are repairable. -Thanks u/GearGlance! Figure 2: Not shown: Needle nose pliers Here are the tools you will need: T10 security torx screwdriver (All OEM Milwaukee batteries use security torx, most knockoff, fake, or custom batteries use regular T10 torx however.) Snips or something else to cut wire and tin strips (I love my Klien snips, they work great for this.) A spot welder Tin strip Multimeter Appropriate 18650/21700 cell or cells (DO NOT GET BUTTON TOPS!!!) 18650/21700 charger Needle nose pliers or something else to pull away the preexisting tin strips Optional or needed for building your own: Soldering Iron Solder Rosin Wire PCB snips (Red cutting tool in the bottom left of Fig. 2. These are great for cutting/scrapping the melted on nubs from previous spot welds.) Wire strippers Label maker or some other way to mark the battery Figure 3: Bottom of the pack After cracking open the pack by undoing the screws on the bottom you can get your first glimpse of what holds the pixies for your tools. These are not secured in place inside the battery and should slide out from the shell like so. Figure 4: The guts of the pack At this point you can now tell if the charging board is fubar'd. Usually a bad board has no lights and possibly burned up crispy components that have let their magic smoke out. On a OEM M18 those blue wires are sensing/voltage monitoring wires that would normally be tin strip that you would leave some length on when cut and reuse. See Fig. 5. I have added some foam tape to my battery to keep it from rattling around inside the shell, and while not a problem on OEM batteries, I would highly recommend you use some on your own custom batteries. Bonus shock absorption and a nice solid quiet battery. Figure 5: OEM M18 HOXC8.0 Figure 6: Side of cells I have left a little bit of a mess for myself in the form of the foam tape. Normally these would be clean in a OEM battery. Take extra care to remember the polarity of the cells. Last thing you wanna do is get all finished only to discover you did it all backwards. Figure 7: Cells removed and the sudden discovery that one of my solder joints was even worse than I thought This is where the pliers come in handy. Grab right next to the spot weld joints and twist them off. If you can't get your pliers in try an knife or something similar to leverage the tin strip up so you can pull it off. Once you get them off you can remove and clean up the cells. Figure 8: Cells and circuitry If you have a bad charging board you can skip the voltage testing however I wouldn't recommend it. A bad board can leave cells unbalanced which will cause other issues. At this point it's time to decide if you want to repair the pack or rebuild it. I always advocate for a full rebuild where possible as even if only one cell is bad and you replace it with the exact same cell, it will eventually bring the battery out of balance again due to one cell being healthy and newer than all the others. This issue is exaggerated on older packs. Edit: Something I forgot to mention is that on any pack with more than 1 set of batteries in parallel (XC5.0, XC6.0, XC8.0, disproportionately the HD12.0, and others) there is a chance you just had a single cell fall out of balance, and manually charging all cells to full will fix your battery. This is IMO a waste of time. That battery is going to be a repeat offender, even if not right away. You'd be better off dropping the few dollars to replace that one cell than to just charge it and reassemble. If repairing and not rebuilding proceed to next section, otherwise charge all your cells and skip over. Figure 9: A healthy cell Take your multimeter and set it to a mode that can read at least 5 volts. We are looking for at least 2, ideally 3, significant figures of accuracy (Yes your science teacher was right! They are important and you will use them.) Touch negative to negative (the flat side) and positive to positive (the side with the weird cut outs) and you should get a reading. All numbers given here are approximations. Batteries are a surprisingly imprecise thing to test. Between roughly 4.0-4.2 is good for a fully charged battery. Anything under about 2.0-2.5 is trash no matter charge state. -Thanks u/Tool_Scientist! You want to look for the cells that are the outliers. They will almost always be a lower voltage than the rest. Also you may have multiple bad cells. Once you've identified the bad cell or cells you can replace them with THE EXACT MODEL AND EXACT MODEL ONLY!!! After getting all of the good and new cells put them on the 18650/21700 charger and let them completely charge. We want all of these to be about the same voltage. Figure 10: A simulated bad cell Next up is reassembly! If building a battery from scratch start here!!! Figure 11: Voltage wire for fourth battery in series Solder on wires to either the charging board in the correct locations (check instructions for board or spot weld tin strip on to the tin strip coming form the Milwaukee Charging board). Once all four leads are hooked up it should look something like Figure 12. Note: The wires on mine are about 45mm or 1.8 inches which is the perfect length. All 21700 packs should need wires about this long. Figure 12: Soldering finished on non-OEM charging board After your charging board is assembled attach it to the guts. We are going to load the cells in to the guts so we can then attach the charging board. Figure 13: Cells loaded and charging board attached If the button and lights are the front of the battery then the first cell should have the negative side showing on the front right as seen in Figure 13. After loading each battery in alternating directions you should be able to start spot welding. Figure 14: Preparing to place first spot weld. Cut out enough tin strip to connect all cells. All of my strips were about 30mm long or 1.2 inches. Connect it up exactly as it was before you disassembled it. Connecting the 1-3 rows of batteries on alternating sides, then the very ends to the contacts on the board. After connecting everything up it's good to check the voltages on each set, which should read about 4v, 8v, 12v, 16v, then 20v at the very end. After spot welding it should look something like this (see Fig. 15). Figure 15: Completed spot welding Then either solder your sensing wires to THE BOTTOM of their respective locations (shell will not close if soldered to the top) as seen in Figure 16, or, if using Milwaukee board, you can spot weld more tin strip. Figure 16: Fully assembled guts And that's it! The core of the battery is ready to go! Not we reinstall it in to the shell and test! If you have it, make sure you add foam tape as needed. OEM packs shouldn't need any. Figure 17: Core and two sides of pack with foam tape Figure 18: Completed battery with labels Congratulations! You've successfully built/repaired a Milwaukee M18 battery! Now go and test the snot out of it, and be prepared to fix any bad spot welds that may come loose with impacting or reciprocating tools. Also I'd highly recommend labeling custom batteries with the manufacture date, cell make and model, total capacity, and total amperage. Here are some reference photos of an OEM XC8.0 for those who need them. Figure 19: HOXC8.0 top of guts Figure 20: HOXC8.0 side of guts Feel free to comment or DM me any questions! I'm always happy to help, and thank you so much for taking the time to read this! -CatgirlTechSupport submitted by /u/CatgirlTechSupport to r/MilwaukeeTool [link] [comments]

TIFU by setting one of my girlfriend's nudes as our laptop background
I'm a prankster, I'll admit it. I love to prank my girlfriend and it's a bit of a fun thing between us (none of my pranks are malicious, they mainly cause minor annoyance and then laughter). My girlfriend is quite conservative, and though she's open to taking photos and videos in the bedroom, she gets red-faced if I show her the photos afterwards. One of my pranks is to say "hey, look at this cute cat picture" then show her one of her photos. She gets embarrassed and then we laugh. Anyway, here comes the FU. I decide to prank her by setting our laptop wallpaper as one of our "intimate" photos, then switch the laptop off. Later on when we want to watch a movie in bed, I'm in the kitchen dishing up dinner and I call to her "Love, turn the laptop on in the meantime and get the movie going". I snicker to myself as I wait for the inevitable "WTF?!" from the bedroom... Nothing. I cautiously peek my head around the bedroom door. "Everything okay?" "The laptop won't switch on." "...What?" The laptop refused to turn on. My girlfriend sighs and casually says "I guess I'll just take in to the IT store tomorrow and let them check it out." Instant panic. "No you can't do that," I say to her. "Why not?" "Because." "Because why?" I had to tell her. Being the way she is, you can imagine how absolutely and utterly mortified she would be if the IT guy had to switch on the laptop and see her in all her unclothed glory on the desktop. I wasn't too keen on them seeing her naked either. She was understandably extremely annoyed and I felt like a complete idiot. We sat wondering what on earth we could do about this broken laptop that didn't involve us handing it in to another person. I suggested we go and just explain to them and ask them to please not go to the desktop. My girlfriend was adamant even that would be too embarrassing for her to bear because they would just KNOW why, and would likely go to the desktop simply out of curiosity anyway. We started googling and trying everything to get the laptop to start up. She got on the phone with some tech-savvy friends, and eventually after some tinkering we managed to get it to switch on long enough to change the wallpaper. Turns out the battery and charger port had died so now it would only work if the charger was plugged in in a very specific way. However, that was the least of our worries, and after the picture had been successfully erased we sent it in for repairs. My girlfriend has NOT let me forget this though, and I must admit after this I have toned down my pranks considerably. We still laugh about it though. TL;DR: Set our laptop background to one of my girlfriend's nudes as a prank, laptop decided to stop working, instant panic as we realise we'd have to go hand it in for repairs and potentially have an IT guy seeing the photo. submitted by /u/improvedpigfucker to r/tifu [link] [comments]
