We had a Schumacher SE-4022 for YEARS! It was the best charger ever and withstood a lot of abuse, but it finally called it quits after getting run over by a tractor. No problem, I go buy a new one. I got the Schumacher SC1400. The new design is awful! Rain blew in an overhang on to the panel where the switch is and it died. Does anyone know of a charger that might be more like the design of the SE-4022? Ideally the controls on the front of the unit verses the top. Or one that has a shield? It's used on a farm. I called Schumacher customer service and the guy 1/2 chuckled saying they don't make them like that anymore due to updated technology. I don't quite understand why updated technology can't also come with a well thought out design?? Unless of course they chose the new design because it was cheaper (eye roll). One wire was patched back in with caulking as an emergency repair since the wire tended to fall off when sauntered (leaded in). But there’s another connection near it that does not have a wire for it’s male plug. Could someone share a picture of their Schumacher SE 4020 with the lid off so we can see what I’m missing. There has to be someone that has one of these Duralast DL-250D battery chargers with Schumacher guts inside. A brilliant engineer (or bean counter) decided to use aluminum rivets to hold in the transformer, rather than steel or stainless. My transformer decided to go for a joyride inside the unit before I received it. No longer available to exchange. If you have this unit, can you try to snap a pic up through the lower vents to identify where the wires plug in on the selector switch please. So I lent this charger out a year or more ago and got it back with the rectifier popped and the fuse bypassed. Attempting to get it back to use as it is far better than 4 chargers at once. Help, I’m just a girl living in subzero environment. Today it’s -30 Celsius and my ford escape won’t start. (First mistake is owning the escape, I understand) It clicks and all the lights turn on but the engine won’t turn over. I popped the hood and plugged this bad boy in for like 10 minutes and it still won’t start. Idk what I’m doing, I broke off the plug for my block heater. (Driving away while plugged in lol) 💀 Am I just using this thing wrong or does this not help at all? Battery isn’t dead, I got it replaced a month ago. INC-800A Schumacher 80/70/20 Amp 6/12 Volt Deep Cycle Battery Charger It does have a selection for lawn mower/atv/motorcycle but I think the lowest amperage is 20amps...this seems kind of high to charge a lawn mower battery? So I bought this manual battery charger used. Took it over to a buddies house and used it quite a bit to crank over his project car. We used the sub panel in his garage which is 100% wired by a DIYer and not an electrician. Bring it home. Let it sit and go to use it myself. Everytime I plug it into any outlets in my house or the outlets on my Ryobi generator it pops the breaker in the house immediately or the GFCI on the Ryobi generator. This uses a max of 20 amps 120v. My breakers are 15 amp in the house. The generator is 20 amps. Initially I thought there was some insurge current tripping my 15 amp breakers. But I think the generator (may) rule that out? Note the leads to charge the car dont need to be connected. It just immediately pops the breakers like there is a short... This would all make sense if it didn't work and crank my buddies car at his place many times. I got the panels off and nothing looks shorted or burned back. Where do I start?
