Is there a version of the Decorations Mod that works with the new update?
I just started a new playthrough of Subnautica with the Prototype Expansion mod. AS well as that mod I also wanted to use some other mods I've used before. I wanted to use the Decorations mod since I liked that the last time I played, however from what I read it broke from the last update. I tried one of the fiex to the mod but it also seems broken. At first batteries didn't charge in the battery charger, however I fixed that by disabling the option ot place batteries on surfaces. It's also missing two of the decor fabricators. Does anyone know if there's a functional version of this mod for the new update? Or if it's being worked on still? And if not, is there a similar mod? And is it ok to play with a "broken" mod or will it mess up my game? submitted by /u/Sapphic_Copper to r/subnautica [link] [comments]

Bioreactor FAQ
Since the bioreactor is a flexible, mid-game generator that can be used anywhere, a common question from both new and experienced players is what fuel is best for it. The simple answer is that it doesn’t really actually matter very much, because most fuels will power the bioreactor just fine, and refilling it is only a minor inconvenience that can be handled in seconds any time you return to base. It’s honestly not worth spending a lot of time optimizing for performance. The wiki has a table of energy values for reference: https://subnautica.fandom.com/wiki/Bioreactor_(Subnautica)#Energy_Values#Energy_Values) Harvesting Locally The most convenient thing to do is grab a few small fish (generally speaking 210-420 energy) with the propulsion cannon on your way back to base and toss them in, they’re almost all decent fuel sources. Alternately, most biomes have some form of high-energy plantlife conveniently nearby that can be harvested and thrown in, such as Acid Mushrooms (210), Deep Shrooms (210), or Bulb Bushes (420/4 slots = 105 per slot). Generally speaking, whole plants and samples are much better than seeds or spores for this. Highest-energy Fuels If you really want to maximize your fuel so you refill the bioreactor as little as possible, the highest energy value fish is the Oculus (630), which can be found in the Jellyshroom caves, and which you can breed in the Alien Containment Unit. Alternatively, if you want fuel that doesn’t swim away when you try to catch it, an Exterior Growbed full of 24 Gel Sacks (245) are also quite good and have a grow time of a mere 7.5 minutes. Both of these can be stored in a locker indefinitely, as they will not spoil (as long as you don’t kill the Oculus), and can be used for both food and bioreactor fuel. The spoilage issue is only a concern for their use as food, though, since spoilage does not affect bioreactor (or fabricator) performance. Indoor Crops If you don’t want to leave the base to harvest Gel Sacks or build a whole room just for an Alien Containment Unit, the other option is to plant indoor crops in your bioreactor room. Four pots, or one Interior Growbed, should be plenty to both feed you and fuel the bioreactor. The best crop for this by sheer numbers is the Bulbo Tree, since it provides 420/4 energy and provides 9 samples (plus one to re-plant) after its growth period of 27 minutes is done (35 energy per minute). However, this lengthy growth period is an inconvenient delay when first establishing your base, so it may be best to either bring along an already grown Bulbo Tree in your Cyclops, or catch a few local fish to bootstrap your base. Marblemelons are a close second to the Bulbo Tree and mature twice as fast, at just 13 minutes, providing 420/4=105 energy, or 24.2 energy per minute, assuming you save one melon’s seeds per pot to replant. For sheer convenience, the Lantern Tree is the indoor crop of choice for many players, because the fruit, which grows every 2.5 minutes after it matures (20 minutes), can be harvested without needing to re-plant anything. However, its water (3) and energy (210/4) values are very low, and it takes several Lantern Trees to support both Ryley and a bioreactor. A single Lantern Tree produces bioreactor fuel at a rate of just 12 per minute. Power Demands The bioreactor provides 50 energy per minute to your base and adds 500 units to your base’s total energy capacity. When necessary, it breaks down material in the storage grid to replenish the capacity. A full storage grid of oculus represents another 10,080 energy, but more typical energy sources sitting around 210 energy per grid slot would be closer to 3,360. For reference, the fabricator draws 5 energy per use, and the scanner room draws 9 energy per minute just by existing (the holographic map takes energy to project) and 30 energy per minute when actively scanning. The water filtration machine is one of the biggest energy draws in the game, at 51 energy per minute when actively filtering water, which almost exactly balances the bioreactor’s output. Over the roughly 30 minutes it takes to fill its 2-bottle capacity, this is over 1,500 energy. Attempting to run the scanner room and the water filtration machine at the same time will drain a bioreactor faster than it can produce power, eventually running out of storage capacity after about 15 minutes. After the base runs out of power in this situation, the scanner room continues running, but the water filtration machine flickers on and off as power becomes available, continuing to slowly purify. Adding a running battery charger, power cell charger, or moonpool recharging a vehicle will only make matters worse. If you have a water filtration machine, it’s probably a good idea to either have two bioreactors, or enough additional power sources to bring the total base energy capacity above 1,500 or so. Comparison to Other Power Sources It’s difficult to provide an apples-to-apples comparison with other power sources because they behave fundamentally differently than the bioreactor. Keeping that in mind: The nuclear reactor generates energy at 250 per minute, has 2,500 storage, and runs off of up to four reactor rods with 20,000 energy each. Solar panels have a storage capacity of 75 energy and produce a variable amount of energy depending on depth and the exact time of day. At a depth of 100 meters, five solar panels at high noon can produce roughly the same 50 energy per minute as a bioreactor, but this is inconsistent across the day cycle and drops to zero at night. Solar panels are all but useless at depths under 200 meters, and cannot be used in caves. Thermal plants usually generate between 7 (@ 30º C) and 70 (@ 80º C) energy per minute and have a capacity of 250 energy, but are dependent on finding nearby heat sources which are not available in every biome. They match the bioreactor’s output at about 63º C. Where available, thermal plants are the ultimate set-it-and-forget-it energy source because they are not dependent on fuel or day/night cycles. submitted by /u/rootbeer277 to r/subnautica [link] [comments]

Acer Nitro V16 not charging or turning on
I recently received my Nitro V16 as a hand-me-down from an aunt, and I've been using it consistently for 3 months on games like Valorant, Minecraft, Subnautica, etc. with no problems at all, I did use performance mode for most of the time however, only turning it off when I wasnt playing, my aunt also didnt use the laptop often. Yesterday I unplugged my laptop to use a glue gun while watching (only have one socket), then when I inserted the charger back on, the laptop didn't charge, and eventually the battery reached 0% and closed. Until now I've tried plugging it back in, pressing the power button for 30s and 1 minute, to no avail. While its maybe one year old, the warranty doesn't cover the laptop anymore. Yesterday when I plugged in the charger, the orange light did some blinking and I could hear the laptop trying to charge but turning off every few seconds. Today, even if its plugged in nothing happens, not even an orange light. What can I do? Thank you so much. TLDR: Acer Nitro V16 doesn't charge after unplugging and plugging the charger back in. Yesterday, it showed signs of life when charging but today its completely dead. What can I do? submitted by /u/underzstand to r/AcerNitro [link] [comments]

Random restarts, now completely unresponsive? (Not even LED light)
Last night, while playing subnautica, my battery died despite being plugged in (an issue I've had in the past with beefier games, but hadn't had an issue with this game before). After letting it charge up a bit, I tried playing again, only for my deck to almost immediately restart. I tried checking my deck's settings only for it to restart again. Every few minutes it would restart, act completely normal for a bit, and then randomly restart again. I tried to do a little troubleshooting (restarted it myself, made sure all my systems were up to date, even tried updating to the beta build to see if that might have a fix), and was eventually able to play subnautica for about an hour before it randomly restarted again. At this point I admitted defeat for the night and used the power menu to shut it down. I left it unplugged, as per usual, and found other things to do for a bit. Today, I tried to power it on, and got absolutely nothing. It had been charging during the whole "constant restart troubleshooting" and I'm fairly certain I had shut it down with a decent percent of the battery left, but it's not even indicating it has low power—the LED light is doing *nothing*. I've since tried... Pressing the power button Holding down the power button (for >30 seconds) Holding down the power button while holding down the volume down button Holding down the power button while holding down the [...] button Letting it charge for >5 minutes, just to be sure it has battery (charger works fine with my phone), then repeating all the above steps Holding down the volume down and [...] button, then pressing the power button Holding down the volume UP button and the power button Throughout all of this, the white LED light by the power button hasn't flashed on even once. I've gotten no reaction from any part of my deck (no fans, no backlight, etc.) I've sent in a support ticket, but figured I should ask here in case there's something obvious I'm missing (I'm not the most tech-savvy individual, so bear with me please!) UPDATE: Support suggested I send my deck in for repair. There are a... couple other damages that I've just been living with for a while (is it still joycon drift if it isnt a joycon?), so I figure a tune up is probably warranted. Will update if any more issue-related information is forthcoming. Sorry to anyone else with this issue, best bet might be forking over $$$ for repairs 😔 submitted by /u/wolfcat-hybird to r/SteamDeck [link] [comments]

Is the ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025) with RTX 5070 Ti & Ryzen 9 9955HX worth it? (Switching from Mac)
I’m currently on a MacBook Pro M1 16", but I’m tired of dealing with compatibility layers (CrossOver/Whisky) for gaming. I want to switch to a gaming laptop. I found a local deal for the ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025) with these specs: GPU: RTX 5070 Ti (12GB VRAM) CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX RAM: 32GB Screen: Nebula Display (2.5K 240Hz) I have 3 main concerns: AMD vs. Intel: I can get the Intel Core i9 version for a smaller price (like 70-100$ cheaper). I've heard about Intel instability issues, but I also heard AMD HX chips might have worse battery life. Which is the safer bet for a 3-5 year laptop? Battery Life: I know it’s a gaming laptop, but can this survive a few hours of web browsing/YouTube off the charger? Or is the 9955HX bad for efficiency? Longevity: How is the build quality of the Strix G16 long-term? Does it hold up well? Use Case: Playing Escape the Backrooms, Hello Neighbor2, FNaF 9 or higher, Subnautica (Including the Below zero version and Subnautica 2 (Let's hope it comes out, fr)), Rust, CS2, 7 Days to Die, Raft, Liars Bar, and some Streaming/Recording via OBS. Any advice is appreciated! submitted by /u/Watchedfungus to r/GamingLaptops [link] [comments]

laptop recs?
hiya everyone! i’m thinking about finally making the switch over from apple and getting a laptop that can support gaming on it. i’ve only ever used macs as a laptop brand, and ive never used it for gaming, since it obviously can’t handle it. my console of choice is my switch, but certain games ive always wanted to play are never available on there (god of war, detroit become human, peak, dispatch, etc.). since im a newbie to all this, i have no idea what to look for - i’ll post my criteria down below: Budget & Currency: 700-1100€ Country: Italy Screen Size Preference: no preference Resolution & Refresh Rate: 1080p, or whatever’s best for my budget Preferred GPU: best for my budget CPU Preference: no preferences, just something that’s easily accessible to fix or replace if needed RAM & Storage Needs: ideally something with a decent amount of storage, since i’ll also be using this laptop for storing my work Battery Life Requirement: not really important to me, since i work from home and im usually near a charger Specific Features Needed: no clue haha! Games You Play & Settings: kindof a mix? i play roguelike games on my switch, like hades - i also usually go for cozy games, like tiny bookshop, and ive been meaning to play the most recent deltarune chapters for a while. i also like games like dredge and subnautica, and the games on my wishlist (that aren’t on switch) are dispatch, peak, date everything, god of war ragnarok, star trek online, and detroit become human Other Uses: im an artist and i like to edit videos, so the ability to run programs like capcut, adobe, photoshop, ms paint, etc. would be helpful! Brands to Avoid: i guess HP, just because i’ve had bad experiences with them in the past, but if push comes to shove HP is okay! any advice is super appreciated!! thanks so much! :D submitted by /u/FinnAndSebsCorner to r/GamingLaptops [link] [comments]

Artist Laptop with STYLUS INSIDE needed - $800 max
To start off, I am looking ONLY for laptops that include a stylus THAT IS DOCKED INSIDE THE LAPTOP. Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: $700-800 max (hoping for closer to $500 if possible). USD, in the USA. Are you open to refurbs/used? NO, they never work! How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? 2-in-1 is most important to me, good performance and battery are a nice plus. How important is weight and thinness to you? Don’t care too much, as long as it’s portable. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14-16 inches preferred Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Light Gaming, mostly needs to run Drawing programs (Medibang specifically). If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I play minecraft, subnautica, stardew, ect. I don’t care too much about gaming performance and FPS, I’m happy to play at mid quality as long as it runs. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? MUST be a touch screen with pen pressure sensitivity, MUST have a stylus included, the stylus MUST dock/charge INSIDE the computer, NOT SEPARATELY. Would prefer as little AI as possible, optimally none. Backlit keyboard preferred. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I am a professional artist and need my laptop to be optimal for drawing at all times. This is why I need the stylus to dock inside, as I can’t risk losing it or not having its separate charger when I need it. Laptops that are not good for drawing are completely useless to me. I currently have an Acer spin 3 sp314-54n, and that is exactly the style of stylus dock I am looking for. Unfortunately my current laptop is nearing the end of its life and it'd cost more to fix it up than to buy a new one, but if anyone knows of someone selling this model at a good price I’d be happy to buy the same thing I have already again. submitted by /u/Queerstalline-Void to r/SuggestALaptop [link] [comments]

Cyclops Guide and FAQ
There’s quite a bit of advice scattered around r/Subnautica about the Cyclops. This is my attempt to consolidate it all into a single guide. Additional tips are welcome! The end-game vehicle for Subnautica is the Cyclops, a massive submarine with various modular features, intended to be piloted by a crew of three. Unfortunately, you’re alone out here, but the Cyclops is indeed quite usable by a sole occupant if you understand how to use it properly. Some players love the Cyclops as a mobile base, others despise it as slow and poorly maneuverable. But your chances of getting the most out of the Cyclops improves dramatically if you understand how it works and what makes it different from the Seamoth and PRAWN. Be aware of spoilers below, don’t uncover the spoiler-tagged hints if you want to discover them yourself. You do not need the Cyclops to reach the deepest parts of the game, the PRAWN will suffice. What the game should have made clear: The following items are not spoilers, but some of them were either not made clear by the game’s information or are easily dismissed as fluff. The Cyclops is very durable. It’s a well-armored, resilient vehicle intended to withstand impacts at full speed into terrain and several attacks from even leviathan-class creatures. Go ahead and ram it into an undersea cliff, you’ll see how well it handles the impact. Don’t treat it like it’s made of eggshells, it isn’t. The only non-leviathan class creature that can damage the Cyclops is the Ampeel, although the Crabsquid can shut it down for a few seconds with its EMP attack. The Cyclops has a regenerating shield. The first 300 HP regenerates on its own, giving you a decent margin for error when navigating in tight spaces or suffering damage from smaller creatures. In fact, it’s very possible to yank the depth module out, upgrade it, and put it back, well before the overshield is spent. The Cyclops is indeed intended to be crewed by three people. This isn’t just fluff, it’s built into the design and will affect your ability to handle it. It seems it would be best crewed by a pilot, a navigator to monitor the external cameras, and an engineer to handle the power systems and repair. It might even need a fourth crew member if you count leaving for exploration and resource collection as a separate job. You’ll be doing all of this yourself, simultaneously, meaning you’ll need to get out of the pilot station frequently to monitor the other systems. The Cyclops is a mobile base. You can build things in it, and in fact the lower level will easily accommodate two stacks of wall lockers to organize and hold large amounts of raw material. Combined with a fabricator, pots (I recommend them over growbeds) for food plants, and a modification station, you’ve got just about everything you need for extended journeys. Add furniture, decorations, and other amenities, and you don’t really need a permanent base at all, except for the power requirements. Some players take pride in maximizing the interior space of the Cyclops not only for functional purposes, but also for living space. Furniture tips: chairs freeze your hunger and thirst meters, and beds jump time forward. Searching this subreddit for Cyclops base builds can provide inspiration. All items you build in the Cyclops that require power (fabricator, battery charger, modification station, etc) will draw this power from its bank of six power cells. Bringing along spare power cells will help immensely by extending its usable range. Building a battery charger is okay, batteries don’t draw all that much power from the power cells, but building a power cell charger is pointless. A power cell charger will simply draw power out of the cells in the engine to the cells in the charger at a 1:1 ratio. Unless you have the thermal charger module, do not use a power cell charger in the Cyclops. Power management — what matters: The slower you go, the more efficient the engine is. If you have time and you’re not running from hostile leviathans, stay at slow speed for maximum efficiency. Silent Running and the Shield draw additional power, even when you’re not moving. The Sonar draws power as long as it’s pinging, your best bet is to just turn it on briefly for the occasional single ping to orient yourself in dark areas. And of course docked vehicles draw power to recharge themselves, and draw additional power to repair themselves if you have the repair module. Power management — what does not matter: Contrary to common perception, leaving the engine on does not draw power if you’re not moving, although it does produce noise. The internal lights and flood lights, likewise, do not draw power. Visibility is difficult. The front windshield looks like a huge clear bubble from the outside, but your field of view is massively restricted, especially down, where the pilot station and floor get in the way. Turning off the internal lights while turning on the flood lights helps in dark areas. The Seamoth is a better pure exploration vehicle just by virtue of enhanced visibility, so bring it along in the dock. The external cameras compensate for this, but when using them you don’t have access to the other features, like the threat radar. You may want to pilot for extended periods of time with the Keel camera, as it gives you enhanced visibility where it matters most, and it illuminates its field of view very well. Keeping your depth over 10 meters will keep the Sail camera above the waterline. Avoid the Safe Shallows: The Safe Shallows have many areas too shallow for the Cyclops to safely navigate across, and you run the risk of beaching it if you’re not careful. It’s best to go around, but experienced pilots can get through with the Keel camera and good judgment. Ramming Lifepod 5 at high speed may clip the Cyclops into it. Creature attacks: Creatures attack the Cyclops (and other vehicles) based on noise and light. The threat radar shows all creatures capable of damaging the Cyclops in some way, and incorporates a bubble that represents the radius of detectable noise the Cyclops generates. The faster you’re moving, the larger this radius is. Shutting off the engine entirely makes attacking creatures eventually lose interest in the Cyclops. Brain Coral: If you hear something impacting your Cyclops in groups of three, it’s likely the oxygen bubbles from Brain Coral. You can ignore this. Sometimes a passing Reefback Leviathan with brain coral growing on its back will also do this. Destruction: Unlike the Seamoth and PRAWN, the Cyclops cannot be completely destroyed. If reduced to zero HP, the Cyclops will become a wreck, and anything you build inside of it, and anything still inside its lockers, will be recoverable. Bugs These issues are likely unintentional bugs in the game engine. Fish invasion: Occasionally you may see fish swimming around inside the Cyclops. This is likely due to the Cyclops model being unloaded from memory when Ryley is far away from it, and being loaded back into memory, potentially with fish inside of it, when Ryley returns to it. The Knife or Propulsion Cannon can usually resolve this. Creatures push: Some large creatures, especially the ghost leviathans, can get hung up on the Cyclops and push it around, frequently moving it off-level and pushing it into walls, without intentionally attacking it or directly doing damage. It can be difficult to get the Cyclops level again after such an incident, but I find that surfacing usually resolves the issue. Impossible repair: Normally when repairing a breach in the Cyclops hull, you’ll see a 3% on the breach when pointing the repair tool at it. If you do not see any percentage, you have a bad angle on it, adjust your position. If you see a 0% on the breach, you likely have a bug that will prevent you from repairing the breach. Save and reload, this should make the breach repairable. Phantom damage: This may have been fixed with the latest patch, I’m not sure. But sometimes you may hear a noise like something hitting the hull, resulting in damage, while moving. This is sometimes the result of the docked vehicle (Seamoth, or more frequently, the PRAWN), somehow registering as impacting the hull of the Cyclops. Undocking the vehicle, moving the Cyclops, and then re-docking should resolve the issue. Maneuvering up, down, left, and right repeatedly may also stop the damage. My guess is this sometimes happens when you save and then reload the game with a vehicle docked, but I have not fully confirmed this. Falling on Ryley: Like the Seamoth and PRAWN, the Cyclops will damage and even kill Ryley if you leave the safety of the Mobile Vehicle Bay and swim under the Cyclops before it falls into the water. The falling Neptune Launch Platform, however, will not damage Ryley. Repulsion Cannon: In earlier releases of the game, the Repulsion Cannon (although not the propulsion cannon) can dislodge lockers and other items you build in the Cyclops. Do not fire the repulsion cannon at the Cyclops, or even in the general vicinity of it. It seems this bug was fixed in the latest release. Tips Optional tips for getting the most out of your Cyclops. Light spoilers. PRAWN Pickup: The Cyclops can pick up even an unpowered PRAWN suit by carefully navigating the docking bay over it using the Keel camera. Keep in mind the PRAWN has the same power cells, and in an emergency those power cells can be removed to replace dead cells in the Cyclops engine. Of course, the Cyclops will attempt to recharge empty cells in a docked PRAWN, so leave them out if you’re doing this for emergency power. Beached: The Cyclops can get beached if you pilot it through the Safe Shallows carelessly. If it runs aground, it may not be possible to get it unstuck with the engine alone. One potential solution is to attach several Floaters to the Cyclops, in some cases they may float the Cyclops up above the terrain it’s stuck on. A more reliable solution is to build a Foundation or I-Compartment that clips into the hull of the Cyclops. The physics engine will shake the Cyclops around to resolve the clipping error, and can move it off of the shallow area it’s stuck on, but this may require multiple attempts. Do not completely build the Foundation or I-Compartment, or you may have difficulty deconstructing it. The I-Compartment trick also works for a beached Seamoth. Edit: It appears the latest update prevents you from building base pieces that clip into the Cyclops hull. Pop-Up Base: Carrying around the materials necessary for a small, quickly-constructed base can be helpful. My recommendation is a scanner room, multipurpose room, bioreactor, 4 pots full of marblemelons, a battery charger, and a power cell charger. This will allow you to build a small base for resource collection anywhere you want it. The four marblemelon pots can keep both the bioreactor and your belly full, even with constant Scanner use. Additionally, the battery and power cell chargers will help you keep your Cyclops and tool power topped off while you’re collecting resources. Be aware that constructing bases at deeper levels may require additional hull reinforcement. Keeping these materials in a dedicated locker helps you quickly gather them for the build. Cave systems: The Cyclops cannot fit into the Jellyshroom caves. It can fit into all of the Lost River entrances, but some are easier to navigate than others. No Base / No other vehicle run: It is possible to beat the game without building any bases, and without building the Seamoth or PRAWN. If you rush directly for the Cyclops, it can become your sole base and vehicle for the entire game. Lava Larva: These creatures will drain power from your PRAWN or Cyclops if they attach to it. According to the Subnautica Wiki, 1 Lava Larva will drain 1% power every 33 seconds, and 7 will drain 1% every 1 second. One or two are probably not worth bothering with, but you may wish to clean them off the Cyclops every time you leave or return. Large infestations can be knocked loose with a quick on/off cycle of the Shield Module at the cost of some power. Modules: The Cyclops has eight total available modules but only six slots to use them. Choose wisely. Depth: Required (plasteel, 3 ruby). You can pull the depth module, upgrade it, and replace it before sustaining damage that exceeds the regenerating Overshield. Upgrades at the modification station to Mk 2 (plasteel, 3 nickel) and Mk 3 (plasteel, 3 kyanite). Efficiency: Required (CPU, benzene, polyaniline). Dramatically extends the Cyclops range. Sonar: Recommended (CPU, 3 magnetite). Provides visibility in dark areas. Drains power while active. Docking Repair: Recommended (repair tool, copper wire). Removes the additional hassle of manually repairing the docked Seamoth or PRAWN at the cost of some power. Drains power while repairing the docked vehicle. Shield: Recommended (advancing wiring kit, polyaniline, power cell). Renders the Cyclops invulnerable, but drains the power cells quickly. Also removes all Lava Larva. One is required to complete the Neptune Escape Rocket. Drains power while active. Thermal Reactor: Recommended (2 polyaniline, 4 kyanite, 1 wiring module). Allows the Cyclops to charge its power cells in hot areas (>35º C), eliminating the need for external bases to charge its power cells. Fire Suppression: Optional (2 aerogel, 2 crystalline sulfur). Makes repairs due to heavy damage or excessive speed easier to deal with. Creature Decoy Upgrade: Optional (3 titanium, 2 lithium, aerogel). Expands the decoy magazine from 1 to 5. Creatures What you can expect from specific creatures, mild spoilers. Creature decoys, silent running, and shutting off the engine can all help. Reaper leviathans: The most commonly encountered damaging creatures, these monsters can destroy your Cyclops if you’re not careful. Ghost leviathans: I find the most dangerous issue is that they can unintentionally push the Cyclops around, rather than the damage they directly inflict. Sea dragon leviathans: The fireballs are the biggest issue, they may damage or even destroy items you build in the Cyclops, including lockers and anything inside them. Ampeels: These are the smallest creatures that can directly damage the Cyclops, be careful when they’re around. Crabsquid: Although they cannot directly damage the Cyclops, they can shut it down temporarily with their EMP attack, and they can push it around if they get close. Other predators: Although they cannot damage the Cyclops, they can occasionally be found swimming around inside the Cyclops due to bugs in the game engine. Spoilers These are spoiler-heavy tips for experienced players who have beaten the game at least once. Efficiency Module: The efficiency module massively improves the range of the Cyclops. There is a free efficiency module in the Aurora, in the Drive Room. The Aurora also has a free Seamoth or PRAWN storage module in the PRAWN bay, and a free Seamoth depth module in the Seamoth bay. Beating the game: You cannot beat the game without the Cyclops, but only because the Neptune Escape Rocket requires a Cyclops Shield Module, which can only be constructed in the Cyclops fabricator. You don’t need to drive the Cyclops, but you do need to build it to finish constructing the Neptune. Otherwise, the game can be beaten, up to curing the Kharaa infection anyway, without ever building a base or any vehicle, if you make use of multiple air tanks and consuming raw Bladderfish, which grants you extended air time at the cost of hydration. The Seamoth cannot venture to the deepest areas, but the PRAWN can. Blueprints: The Cyclops schematic is assembled by accumulating the Hull, Bridge, and Engine blueprints (3 each). Because of the randomized nature of spawns in each game, it cannot be guaranteed to find the scannable fragments in any particular area from game to game, but in general, the Hull and Bridge fragments should be available in the two Mushroom Forests, and the Engine Fragments should be available in the Aurora, the Sunken Islands, and the safer areas of the Mountains, especially around the Quarantine Enforcement Platform. Other, riskier locations for the Engine include the Crash Zone, the more dangerous areas of the Mountains, and the Crag Field. Sea Dragon: The sea dragon fireballs appear to have splash damage that can damage things that you build in the Cyclops. Keep the Cyclops well away from sea dragons to avoid these issues, which should not be difficult as there are only three of them and they have well-defined patrol routes. In particular, lockers and the radio on the upper level of the Cyclops seem to be vulnerable to sea dragon fireballs. submitted by /u/rootbeer277 to r/subnautica [link] [comments]

CPU and GPU drops while gaming
Hi guys! So I have my ASUS A15 FA506QM (2021) gaming laptop for almost three years. In the last months (maybe 3-4) I've experienced some fps drop while gaming. At first, I thought it was because of one specific game (it was Labyrinthine), but I ignored - this was in April/May. In the last few months I've been playing Minecraft (that normal "yearly minecraft time") and I didn't see anything special. Then, a few weeks ago I started playing Subnautica and I started experiencing those spikes again. Then, I started to think about it and trying to understand the reason for it. One important thing is: it only happens when the laptop is connected to AC charger when on Balanced or Turbo Mode. This means: it doesn't happen when laptop is on Battery Save mode or while laptop is on battery only (any performance mode). Note: in all situations, the game is running with the dGPU, not the integrated one. Below I send a photo of task manager and HWMonitor while the drops are happening for you to understand what I mean with the "drops". The game runs smoothly and suddently the fps drop for 2-3 seconds and then it goes back to running smoothly again - in a way that I would say... "periodic"? (at least it seems periodic via Task Manager) CPU: Ryzen 7 5800H GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 If you know or have any guess of what is happening, I would appreciate. Thanks in advance. https://preview.redd.it/h8rp0116hlpf1.png?width=1917&format=png&auto=webp&s=9543ee7181da9b1e952955c89ede485794fbc9c3 submitted by /u/Fireball100 to r/pchelp [link] [comments]

Day 3 of facing my fear of Subnautica
Last post: https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/1n30kwx/day_2_of_facing_my_fear_of_subnautica/ First post: https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/1n2zope/day_1_of_facing_my_fear_of_subnautica/ A lot happened!! Currently 2 hours and 32 minutes in. I went and got a Seatruck, then took it to the Delta island and built ''Vents mini-base'' on the border between Delta station dock and the purple vents. I decided to go find the architect artifact for AL-AN, and I got really worried because I ended up in one of the arctic oceans and know that chelicerates are in one of them, but I was in the one that they aren't in so I powered through and found a water filtration artifact of some kind(I forget exactly what it said). I currently have two lockers, a fabricator, a solar power array, a battery charger, and a few posters/pictures in my base. I'm thinking about building my main one somewhere underground but haven't decided where yet. Or potentially in the West arctic where there aren't chelicerates? It has a lot of open space. When my next documentation is out, I'll link it in the comments. Same as last time! submitted by /u/Naturemations_2025 to r/subnautica [link] [comments]

Weird one. Found this while exploring an abandoned property. The cop who attended after I reported it said it was a battery charger, not what I thought it was.
Made of brass with inscriptions "explosive, dangerous, detonator" and a long orange wire connected to it. Like I said, after I reported it to police, the attending officer called me and told me not to worry and it was a battery charger. I asked "what about the inscriptions" and he awkwardly laughed and said it was not a detonator. I just cant simply understand how this is a battery charger and am hoping someone here can help me out. Found in Australia if that helps. submitted by /u/Wolle525 to r/whatisthisthing [link] [comments]

Help choosing a new laptop
Hi, I need a new laptop. My MacBook pro (2016 model) is dying and obsolete for a trade in. It's almost worthless to sell too. Quick 2 points of info below. Either I continue apple, or windows. The problem is that windows is more accessible for the games and applications I want to do, but I love the sleek and nice look apple laptops has. Any suggestions for maybe better manufacturers? I'll go Lenovo if I have to. I called apple support, and they say that an M4 Pro with 512gb minimum and 1tb perfect, 24gb memory would be better suited for the games I want to play. (But I'm not coughing up 3.8k AUD) But here's the answered form: Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: 2000 AUD max preferably, can do 2500 AUD if needed but no more than that. I live in Australia. Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes, but it cannot be past high grade B for my consciousness. I will clean it inside out then likely destroy it accidentally. How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? I love apple sleekness, but I need the performance to be GOOD. I would like to run high graphics quality Roblox fast movement games with discord and multiple tabs chrome open without any lag. Minecraft latest updates hopefully. Doom or Subnautica at the most. Battery life doesn't wholly matter, I'll keep it charged 24/7 but I would like it to last minimum 4-5 hours while gaming without on charger. But I would like the battery to not be a brick, please. How important is weight and thinness to you? Very. I would like it to be portable. Not too heavy, and thinner is preferable. I dislike the bulky nightmares. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. At least 13 inches, 15 inches max. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Drawing and animating softwares, like MediBang. For games, I answered above but at minimum high graphics quality Roblox fast movement games with discord and multiple tabs chrome open without any lag. Maybe Minecraft. For hopes and prayers with my budget, Doom and Subnautica. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? High quality with fast movement, above 50 FPS, no lag. Smooth. (mostly for Roblox and Minecraft.) Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Not a loud keyboard. Preferably noise level of my current laptop listed at the top. Good build quality that won't break like a lego if I drop it 10cm from the ground. Touch screen doesn't matter but if it adds up to the price then no. Finger print reader, optical drive not needed. I just need a keyboard, and I can plug in a mouse, headphones and mic (maybe) too. (wired or wireless.) Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Thank you so much tech people. Also, I can't get a pc. No space, needs to be portable. If there is a perfect laptop that meets what I ask for but above my asking price, please tell me anyway. Sorry if I sound rude, I do talk like this. Thanks again. submitted by /u/cheesecake_neko to r/SuggestALaptop [link] [comments]

I hate the Cyclops SO MUCH
I hate it. It’s hard to maneuver, I don’t have the thermal charging system yet so the batteries drain quickly, I keep wrecking it into things, and I built my stupid base in the stupid shallows so I can’t even drive that bad boy up to my base. I also spent way too long building battery chargers to try and cycle them through after which it became apparent the battery charger is run by the batteries IN the cyclops. Why did I think that would work? I spent forever making that system. A failure. I know you all are going to say it’s user error and you are god damn right it is. I suck at it. Elden Ring is my game of choice - I recognize I have to git gud. But getting good while I left a wake of chaos and bloodshed throughout the Lands Between was easier than manning the GOD DAMN CYCLOPS. I’m the Elden Lord THRICE over and still can’t make this submarine work. Needless to say I’m absolutely loving Subnautica and happy I found this subreddit. I’m in my mid-30s and only got into gaming recently with Elden Ring. Subnautica is proving to be a fantastic game. Very different, but really frustrating and fun. submitted by /u/isla_inchoate to r/subnautica [link] [comments]

Battery charger keeps eating my batteries.
These are the mods that I'm using Whenever I save and reload my game any batteries inside of my battery charger disappear. I'm currently using the Deathrun Remade mod and an autosave mod. Any ideas on why this is happening? submitted by /u/SerialPhsycoManiac to r/subnautica [link] [comments]

Has anyone done a full run with the Sea to Sea mod?
I'm talking about the massive overhaul mod by Reika Kalseki Asking because I really never see it talked about, and it seems like none of the big Subnautica content creators have ever mentioned it, let alone made any content about it. I'm trying it out for the first time, and I'm really impressed with what I'm seeing thus far. The changes to recipes (and large number of new items and crafting material) seems to really add a ton of depth to the crafting economy of the game. Takes a lot longer to gather materials for certain buildables (especially vehicles) but it feels like a way bigger accomplishment when you finally get to craft your first Seamoth/Prawn suit. Also, the fact that so many early-game materials must be turned into chemicals and other items that are the foundational building blocks of many different recipes, it makes those materials feel more valuable. As an example, in vanilla , you generally only have to worry about gathering acid mushrooms until you find a blueprint for the battery charger, after which you can build 6-12 batteries and continually reuse them for the rest of the game; in C2C though, the mushrooms are used to create carboxylic acid (essentially battery acid), which is a fundamental building block needed to create most electronic parts like wiring kits and so on, which maintains its value/use cases for a lot longer. I haven't gotten too far into the run yet, but it kinda feels like every single raw material/resource is (more) valuable in some way, and incentivises taking the time to gather whatever you might find, whereas in vanilla, you don't have to bother as much once you progress past a certain point. Some might find this annoying, but I'm a hoarder, and Im really enjoying the grind for materials. I've heard that there are several new biomes added as well, but I'm not sure where they are (trying not to spoil the surprise for myself). Pretty excited to see what else the mod has in store. If anyone else has tried the mod out, what did you think of it? submitted by /u/diceytumblers to r/subnautica [link] [comments]

Single-Use Battery Chargers
I'm not usually one to call out stuff like this but the whole concept here is galling. Why can't your guests just remember to charge their phones? If you have to have a contingency for guests who are unprepared, why can't you provide one or more charging stations? What a waste of money and materials, not to mention the packaging, and you just know they aren't going to be disposed of correctly and will find their way to a landfill (at best). submitted by /u/lysanderish to r/Anticonsumption [link] [comments]

Subnautica. The quest for a battery charger.
If your not already do yourselves a favour and start watching Ryan play subnautica on his twitch stream. It's uploaded to his personal youtube channel too. It's a great game to watch Ryan go slowly mad in. submitted by /u/newgibben to r/roosterteeth [link] [comments]

Mobile Base: Cyclops v2.0
https://imgur.com/gallery/b7mgd Well, my fellow survivors... Full release is upon us. In celebration of such a momentous occasion, I bring to you, my third and final Mobile Base: Cyclops. I have learned much in the ways of hoarding and over preparing. It is time I end my storage-madness... and let someone new carry the flame. Will it be you, survivor? v1.0: https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/5uq7vc/mobile_base_cyclops/ https://imgur.com/gallery/A5Awx v1.5: https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/5x16vo/mobile_base_cyclops_v15/ https://imgur.com/gallery/dCgoJ EDIT: Added the FAQ Mobile Base Cyclops FAQ: Q: Battery/Power Cell Chargers? Does that even work? A: Yes and No. You need a Cyclops Thermal Reactor Upgrade before you can install any Chargers. Chargers will out drain the power production from the Thermal Upgrade, but this isn’t much of an issue. The benefits of charging more than six Power Cells at once, can sometimes outweigh the drawback of how long it takes to charge everything. If you’re struggling with power, check out my notes (Part 1 & Part 2) on Cyclops power consumption. WARNING: Installing Chargers without having the Thermal Upgrade will cause your Power Cells to charge off of your Power Cells. That causes a net loss of power, and will keep your Cyclops at low power. Q: Aren’t you scared of losing all of that?! A: Yes I am. However, I am set to deal with such an unlikely scenario. On the Bridge of the Cyclops I have a locker that holds the materials for a new Cyclops, and a MVB. Since the only things lost when your Cyclops explodes is your life and docked vehicle, there isn’t much drawback to a death of a Cyclops. Everything inside can be salvaged, including Upgrades, Power Cells, Locker contents, fruit, etc. Anything you’ve built inside can be deconstructed, so there’s really no worries. Q: but the Cyclops is so slow, vulnerable, and power hungry! Why would you like using it? A: Shutting down the Engine will cause anything aggressive to ignore you. This completely eliminates the need for the insane power drain of Silent Running. This also means you don’t need to use the Shields as often, meaning even less power drain. With the Engine Efficiency and Thermal Upgrades, you could drive around forever without needing to go back to base. Also, the Cyclops isn’t some oversized Seamoth. It’s a Mobile Base meant to grow your food, store materials, craft items, be a carrier for your PRAWN, and be a place to sleep so you can skip time. When you need to explore a tight area, just take your docked vehicle. That’s what it’s there for. Q: Do you really need that many lockers? A: No, I do not. I could easily live comfortably with just the storage in Lower Deck 01. The point of my “Mobile Base: Cyclops” series is to show what’s possible with the Cyclops. You may build and do whatever you like with your Cyclops. Many go for a living room style on the Main Deck with the Vehicle Hatch. However, by having more lockers than you “need”, you could deconstruct your base and carry it around with you. If you ever need a Base, build what you need, use it, and deconstruct it when you’re done. submitted by /u/ImperialBoss to r/subnautica [link] [comments]
