Mining geotech is very niche and will require post grad engineering study for a geologist. Pays very well once you get some experience under your belt and become RPEQ or similar, better than mining engineers. Civil geotech money is pathetic in comparison. About15 years ago I wanted a nice leather belt that would last but I didn’t know the difference between tanning styles or how it would affect long term quality so I decided to make one of each. I have no relation to these companies other than I bought my materials from them. Probably my overall favorite. Tan is vegetable tanned which I dyed. It is the most bomb proof Black is horween chromexcel and is the most supple and flexible. If I had to pick only one it would be latigo. If I had to do it again I’d get all three. I like the variety. This beat my previous record of 14 years. They should be done every 3 to 5 years depending on the expert you talk to, but these still looked fine. No cracking, and tensioners were still tight. I’ve been part of these kinds of communities for a while — thanks to some members I got to know most of the high-quality sellers I know today — but until now I had never contributed to the community. Today I decided to make my first post. Lately my focus has been CH in general: jeans, shirts, belts, wallets and any other kind of item. The truth is that most of the things you find on the market are poor quality and imprecise, and that’s not my focus — I always look for the best quality/accuracy and value for money (value for money doesn’t mean cheap). Knowing that, I managed to find a lot of good stuff after a lot of research. The best CH pieces are usually custom items (when we talk about jeans, belts and wallets, for example) or small-stock runs made by some lesser-known sellers in the Chinese market (when we talk about clothing). Usually those stocks disappear and never return (seller 777made is an example). In this first post I’ll introduce a seller I recently found on Xianyu (which is a Chinese marketplace for second-hand items, but you can also find new items and some services there). This seller specializes in making customized CH pieces, but what caught my attention most were the belts he makes. Basically he can make the belt exactly how the customer wants it: custom length, fully custom color, and custom style. I’ll try to list the prices and explain how pricing works in a way that’s easy to understand, because when I first talked to this seller I was a bit confused. With this seller you can buy the belt in three states: • Leather belt (no cross patches and no snaps) — 500 ¥ (CNY) • Leather belt with snaps (no cross patches) — 600 ¥ (CNY) • Leather belt with snaps and cross patches — 1000 ¥ (CNY) All options can have a custom design exactly how you want it, as shown in the photos. Also, the leather used is of EXTREME QUALITY, as you can see. The workmanship is beautiful — it’s handmade, not those ugly factory jobs. In the post I’ll attach photos of two belts I bought from him: one white with white crosses and one black. He also sells buckles, with material options like 925 silver and copper, and custom denim — all high quality.
