I need some technical advice from the motorcycle community. Every season, my leather suit seems to get tighter. Same suit, same hanger, same closet. Yet somehow, when spring comes around, it has clearly shrunk another 3 percent in the torso and 7 percent around the stomach. I have considered all possible explanations: - The leather is shrinking in storage - The air in my hallway has become denser - Dainese has installed remote firmware updates - My base layer has gained mass - The suit is slowly turning into a MotoGP spec compression garment - Or, worst case scenario, I may have personally become more aerodynamic in the wrong direction... The weird part is that once I’m on the bike, it feels pretty good. But standing in front of the mirror, I look like a budget Batman who just discovered kebab, pizza and winter depression. Anyone else have this issue where your leathers fit perfectly one season, then the next season they require a full warmup routine, a prayer, and someone to help zip you up? Also, before anyone says “just lose weight”, I already know. I’m just trying to blame the cow first. TLDR: My leathers are shrinking. Commercial Pilot here. Heavy Cargo hauler. Over the past 6 months we’ve been transporting the electrical components used for heavy duty 6 megawatt energy storage battery’s. Each battery when fully operational and assembled is the size of a 40 ft shipping container. We’ve been moving these small dismantled electrical components for the assembly of these batteries to Invercargill New Zealand, Hawaii and Denver, Colorado. The job came to us from a private contractor that does business with Defense. These locations we fly to are always offloaded by military guys and loaded into unmarked plain white semi-trucks with no plates. They usually either have 1 local cop chase car or a bike cop. Thats it. These cities are the same cities Billionaires have been building bunkers in. When we asked what the hell was all this for as these cities we fly to have functioning power grids, our handler at Denver Airport just said to us it’s for “the event”. I was struggling with space when storing my bike on dorm room floor. I didn't find good dorm room bike storage solutions online so I made my own. Went to Home Depot and got 3 hooks. 1 to hold the pedal and 2 to hold the wheels. Tied them all to the bed frame and voila! Good morning, So I have this 2022 bike, and I just left for a 9 month rotation, and silly me just put it in a storage lot, without adding any fuel stabilizer or batter maintainer. I’m only one month in this rotation. Did I screw myself over by doing that? I’m assuming I’ll have to syphon all the gas out and change the oil and probably charge the battery. I’m not real handy but I’m proud of what I’ve put together in my garage over the years. The sliding bike storage and the gear organizer is a game changer for anyone with multiple bikes in the garage. There are some off the shelf solutions that are more expensive. I built this using some youtube videos and parts from amazon. I had a wooden shelf system where the bikes are now when I purchased the house but it wasn’t compatible with the bike system I wanted to build so I had to tear it all down and start over. I straightened the 2x4s with clamps and screwed them together. The top shelf is adjustable. The only change I would make is using 10’ 2x4 instead of 8’ so I could go higher. The hitch mount on the wall is the most efficient way to store the four bike version of the Thule which weighs close to 100 lbs. I have a Yakima hitch mounted two bike rack that I hang on the wall from hooks which is not pictured. The overhead storage for the Yakima sky box is a space saver and it lets me easily put the roof box on the car with only one person. He’s doing this on purpose. I use this box to put my bike pump in since I don’t want him to bite into the pipe and ruin it (he’s done it before). The problem is this is the only box I have that fits the pump. I have gotten him so many different boxes and while he uses them, every night I get woken up because he’s trying to tip the bike pump box over so he can get in. It’s been 2 weeks and he’s got this obsession. And I know what you’re thinking why not just hide the pump somewhere else? I DID! I DO. HE DOESNT WANT TO GET INTO THE BOX THEN. I even tried tricking him, making him think the (empty) box was forbidden still thinking that would be enough to get him to use it. NO HE DOESNT USE IT AT ALL, I’m convinced he knows what he’s doing and it’s seriously messing with me. My girlfriend thinks I’ve gone mad having beef with a cat. I love him very much but he is getting on my nerves. I’ve put the pump in the storage locker down in the basement of my building now. And it’s such a hassle going up and down. Just wanted to flex my office's secured bike storage room(s) after recently starting. The two buildings are at the new Amazon HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia (US). The bike washes are truly the best part--winter salt + crud is easily defeated and chain cleaning has never been easier (with a park tool CM-25 and some degreaser). Staple racks, wall racks, and roll-in racks for all bike types (Bakfiets spotted!). Outlets near walls for electric charging. If I were to estimate, there's probably close to 500 parking spots between the two rooms (in the two buildings). The room I usually use is around 2/3 full on best-weather days in the fall/spring of DC. Officially, you're not supposed to leave bikes there overnight but maybe about 1/4 of the bikes use it as permanent storage (probably 1/2 of those which are left there are abandoned); it's not a big issue now because it's not full but in an optimistic future where all the racks are taken, I'd imagine more enforcement of that rule. The text screenshots are worth the read - So I moved last month, new apt in Brooklyn. Love the space, the neighborhood, decent rent. Three cats. A small downside: the common hall/stairwell is suuuper narrow (3ft maybe). My roommate and downstairs neighbor keep bikes locked to the handrail, taking up >50% of the width of the hallway. Spoke w my roommate and put polite sticky notes on the neighbor’s door, asking for a bike free hall. My roommate obliged immediately!! My neighbor however… has been texting me over the last 2 weeks essentially refusing to do a thing. Tons of pity-me energy and passive aggressiveness. - “Sorry this is a slight inconvenience for you, hmmm 🤔” They won’t: - store bike on the bottom floor where there is more room - store bike outside with a lock (fear of theft) - put the bike in their apartment (no space) - buy a wall mount (no money) - let me spot them $ for the mount (not comfortable) I’m a large guy. Every day I scoot past this bike and if I have groceries/packages/coats then there’s no getting around it; we have to bang the bike up as we scoot on by. I get it — bike storage is tricky. But it’s not on me to figure out. The bike is obtrusive and 100% violates fire code. I emailed property management about it today, two weeks after the post it’s. Now the neighbor is calling me a Karen when all I want is to walk to my place without banging past her damn bike like 4x a day lol.
