where to donate stuffed animals?
hi everybody, i was wondering if anyone knew any local organizations or shelters that accept plushies and stuffed animal donations?? i'm planning on moving out of my family's house and accumulated two large heavy duty bags of stuffed animals and a few figurines. mostly sanrio (hello kitty), disney, squishmallows, or japanese plushies, and misc figurines, toys, and brand new puzzle. many still have the original tags on and i never played with them and strictly kept them on display or in storage but i wouldn't consider them brand new as they've been sitting around for quite a while. i spent a decade and hundreds of dollars on hoarding these so i honestly would love for them to go to people who would appreciate them, especially kids. i joined fb for local buy nothing/waste not groups but didn't get approved because my account was too new lol. i tried looking into choc hospital or children's organizations but they list on their website that they don't accept used stuffed animals for understandable health concerns. any leads would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!! i'm based in anaheim but am willing to drop off anywhere in orange county or long beach area! submitted by /u/Formal_Ad_8461 to r/orangecounty [link] [comments]

setting up nursery- too many stuffed animals! Right?
I’m setting up the nursery (I’m due in 9 weeks, first baby) and realizing how many stuffed animals we were gifted, plus how many teddy bears and soft dolls I have saved from my childhood too. it’s kind of a lot! at what age do babies/kids even interact with stuffed toys? I’m tempted to put all the stuffed things in a storage tote for another year or more as I live in a one bedroom apt and try to stash away anything that isn’t actually getting used. when did your baby start liking playing or cuddling with teddy bears and other animals? in my head that’s like a 2 or 3 year old thing. correct me if I’m wrong! submitted by /u/seven_of_n1ne to r/BabyBumps [link] [comments]

How do I memorialize a chewed up stuffed animal
For a bit of background: My childhood dog Stevie (female black lab), died about a year ago now, I know that’s quite a long time at this point but she was my dog at my dad’s house, and growing up with divorced parents- sometimes she was the only thing I was excited about when going to his house on the weekends. Anyways, my dad and I don’t talk much at all anymore, we haven’t for about 5 years or so. He called me to tell me she wasn’t going to make it through a surgery and we were going to lose her. She was 12 so she had a good life, but I never got to say goodbye. I saw her a few times when my dad would come to get my brother but it had been a few months since I had seen her when she passed. I never got to say goodbye. Fast forward about a year, my dad was clearing out a storage unit and ended up dropping off my entire bedroom on my front porch. In there was this, a stuffed bear a high school boyfriend had gotten me for Valentine’s Day. Being the immature 16 year old I was- when he broke up with me, I let it become a dog toy. This feels like one of the only things I have left of her. I want it to stay this way, but I don’t know how. I can’t think of a good way to honor it. I’m moving to an apartment in New York soon so I’ll be low on space but, I want ideas of how to memorialize it in a way that’s both tasteful but still the toy she played with. TDLR; my childhood best friend passed away about a year ago and I just came across what is most likely the only thing of her I have left since she passed with my dad whom I no longer speak to. How do I memorialize this (medium sized) toy. submitted by /u/whysowonk to r/Petloss [link] [comments]

Ideas for stuffed animal storage?
I don’t want to do the ceiling hammock thing (I’ve done it before and wasn’t a huge fan). I tried this wall organizer thing but I just don’t like how it looks. I want something that looks tidier but you can still see the plushies (so not like… shoved into one of the stuffed animal storage chair situations lol). Any ideas? Apologies for the mess on my bookshelf but just trying to get most of my plushies in the pic so there’s an idea of how many I have. There’s like maybe half a dozen more in a different room but this is the majority of them. submitted by /u/alewiina to r/HomeDecorating [link] [comments]

Anyone else overwhelmed with the closet!?
Don’t get me wrong. I love dti and I love that they keep giving us new updates and are improving the game. That being said, there are TOO MANY CLOTHING! I remember when certain clothes used to be seasonal. When they added new items, they took away old items to make SPACE! Now, it’s just wild to me how with every season/ update they save EVERY SINGLE ITEM from each season. It’s toooo overwhelming for me clicking through all the chests and stuff. Especially with this tokoyo update, I feel like they’ve added so many unnecessary items (unnecessary hats, stuffed animals, shorts, skirts) like at what point are they going to realize that a lot of the clothes also cause lag, there’s SO MUCH to load. Idk I think that season items should stay seasonal. Leave the Christmas update for the winter time, leave the valentines update until summer. We don’t need this much clothing in our storage. Also they need to change the themes up, the themes have been the same for a WHILE now and are the most boring themes ever. submitted by /u/Bitter_Job_5135 to r/DressToImpressRoblox [link] [comments]

Childhood Stuffed Animal
For a bit of context, a few years back I lost everything I had in a storage unit, including my first ever childhood stuffed animal. I haven’t been able to find ANY pictures of it online, I can only find a brand that looks somewhat like it, but none of the colors are right. I’d like to find out so I could potentially get a new one. This childhood stuffed animal was a pink and blue dog, it looked similar to the ‘Dan Dee’ dogs, but I haven’t been able to find one that looks like mine. The plush was my older cousin’s before she gave it to me, so this plush would be at least 25/30 years old by now… I attached some photos of the ‘DanDee’ dogs, but they are not the exact stuffed animal I’m looking for. Thank you! submitted by /u/Ang3lscapeism to r/HelpMeFind [link] [comments]

How can I repurpose a stuffed animal storage net?
It ended up not working for me because my stuffed animals are too big and heavy. I'm not sure what to use it for now, so it's been just hanging up empty. I'd like to repurpose it for something? Need help cleaning this stuffed animal I was given on day 1 of my life.
I was given this dog by my mother the same day I was born and have had him for over three decades now. He's never been cleaned and has spent a lot of time in storage, so he's obviously quite dirty. This guy holds a ton of sentimental value to me and my mom so I need advice on the safest way to clean him without risking any damage. The tag says "polyester fabric & P.V.C. pellets in cloth bag." Keep in mind he's almost 35 years old and pretty fragile. It might seem dumb but I'm more nervous about cleaning him than even cleaning my own car, shoes, fancy suits, PC, etc, lmao. Any advice is appreciated 🙏 submitted by /u/Kanarakettii to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Who has a replica of your favorite childhood stuffed animal??
This is my childhood stuffed dog Wishbone. I got him as a Christmas present when I was 3-5 years old, back in 2003-2005. He was very loved and went everywhere with me when I was little. We cleaned out my bedroom and donated the old stuffed animals I didn't want or play with anymore. My mom had packed him up in a tote box with other stuffed animals and put them in our storage unit a few years ago. She had forgotten where she put them, so we looked everywhere for them a few weeks ago but didn't have any luck finding the tote he was in. I managed to find an exact replica of him for sale on eBay on Thursday and ordered it right away. It's a newer version, still with tags attached, and it's coming in the mail tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm so excited, but we cleaned out the storage unit yesterday and my mom finally found my childhood stuffed dog Wishbone. I was excited that she found him, but now I'll have two of him. Unfortunately, the seller doesn't accept returns, which is fine because I'll keep them both in my bedroom and love them both. submitted by /u/Frequent-Increase-98 to r/StuffedAnimals [link] [comments]

My childhood stuffed animal dogs Wishbone.
I was cleaning out the storage unit and I found my old stuffed animals that I’ve had collected from my childhood and I’ve found these two cutest Wishbone plushies, one of them still talks clear along with other Wishbone toys. He’s so cute and adorable, I’ll always keep him along with the other Wishbone toys for a long time, Wishbone show was my favorite show to watch every day when I was little. Do you still have your childhood stuffed animal or did you have a stuffed Wishbone dog when you were little?? submitted by /u/Frequent-Increase-98 to r/plushies [link] [comments]

Not done, but I spent all day yesterday helping my parents empty what I later found out were TWO large rental storage spaces worth of stuff. Lots of memories and stuff from our childhood, but a lot of it was shit I've never seen before. Or stuff I assumed was (and should've) been thrown out decades ago. My parents have probably paid 5 figures in storage fees over the years. It was devastating. They rented a dumpster but my ADHD/hyperfocused/Earth Mama ass tried to recycle/donate as much as I could before giving up and throwing a lot of perfectly good stuff in there, fighting back tears and apologizing to the ancestors the whole time. The worst part was I realized they had actually saved ALL OF MY STUFF from over the years. I had no clue it was all in there. Stuffed animals, everything from my college dorm. (I moved out when I got married the first time, mom turned my room into a craft room. They asked me over the years to get rid of some stuff so I did, I assumed that was all of it. Not even close.) I know they thought they were doing something nice by saving all my stuff, but I can't explain what a horrible feeling it was. And still is. But now I have a much more clear understanding of Why We Don't Hoard. And I will not be passing this problem onto my kids. Although my oldest can't stop talking about how fun it was and how much he loved seeing all my old stuff. So, we'll be working on breaking that generational curse. I should also mention this all went down 48 hours after being ordered into the ER for a full cardiac workup. So, yeah, I'm very much feeling my generation today. submitted by /u/OLovah to r/GenX [link] [comments]

My 25 year old childhood stuffed animal next to a brand new one.
Both of these are Beanie Babies named Pearl. She was manufactured in 2000 and my grandfather gave me the one on the left when I was 3 years old. I've kept my Pearl throughout the years and she's been well loved. The one on the right I ordered the other day. It's been kept in storage throughout the years and while my son has his own currently loved plushie cat, sometimes it needs to be cleaned. He borrowed my Pearl last week when he had to go a day without his plushie, and I made the decision to order a new one as backup to preserve mine the best that I can because she's seen better days. It's amazing to see the difference between the two. submitted by /u/EmptySighs66x to r/plushies [link] [comments]

Built a storage bed with thrifted shelves
I built a storage bed (full) a few months ago using thrifted ikea kallax units! A few disclosures: I am not a carpenter (obviously), I don’t really know anything about woodworking, I just kind of did this out of desperation for more storage. The cat’s role in all this was merely supervisory and she did not use or go near any power tools. I am 23 years old pls don’t yell at me. I used 1 2x2 unit and 1 2x1 unit along the far side of the bed (along the wall), 1 2x2 unit on the close side of the bed (middle of the room), and a 2x4 unit along the foot of the bed. Using my old bed slats, I was able to make a frame for the mattress using wood planks that are 4cm deep, 14cm wide, and cut to length for each side (190cm along the sides, 137cm along the head and foot) + an extra plank lengthwise in the middle for extra stability. The wood planks were secured to each other by steel joints and screws. I measured 3/4 the depth of the top board of the ikea units + added the depth of the slats and secured the frame at several points with screws measured to depth. I used Velcro tape along the border of the frame to secure the bed slats to it, then added my mattress back and voila. The headboard I used a wire and nails + more Velcro tape to hang on the wall and fix in position. The drawers and cabinets in the final picture were just bought from ikea and added to their respective shelves after the fact. I’ve been sleeping on this bed every night since October without incident. It can hold my mattress (~30kg), me (~65kg?), all of my pillows and stuffed animals, and most importantly, the cat (4kg), easily. Both of my brothers who weigh ~80-85kg have been able to sit and lie on it at the same time. The space under the bed is just a little reading nook for me + an extra bed for the cat — I am ~155cm tall and can sit comfortably under there. submitted by /u/eclecticmango to r/DIY [link] [comments]

I need help, trying to find my childhood stuffed animal.
This is Tiger, a cherished keepsake I’ve had since I was born on July 4th, 2003. He’s currently in storage, but I’ll share pictures of him as soon as I can retrieve him. Tiger is a pink and white plush tiger with dark pink paw pads and a dark pink nose. One unique feature is that he doesn’t have any white around his eyes. I’m reaching out because my sister is pregnant, and I would love to gift her baby a tiger just like mine. If anyone can help me find another one of these tigers, it would mean the world to me. Thank you! submitted by /u/Mentally_At_Hogwarts to r/StuffedAnimals [link] [comments]

Roommate tossed out my childhood stuffed animal
I am not the OOP. The OOP is u/This_Attitude_5190 posting in r/badroommates Concluded as per OOP 1 update - Short Original - 12th February 2024 Update in a comment - 13th February 2024 Roommate tossed out my childhood stuffed animal Screenshot1 OOP: Did you take one of my stuffed animals? I can't find it. RM Yeah my girl saw it cuz you left it on the couch and she thought it was childish so threw it out OOP: Did you take it out after? RM no lmao OOP: What??? RM Its childish to have a stuffed animal anyways youre 26 years old OOP: Oh my god I have had that since i was a fucking infant Did you take out the trash? RM Yeah a couple of hours ago Screenshote2 OOP: Great now I have to go dumpster diving. I want you out of my house by the end of the month or I will take legal action. I am tired of your pathetic insufferable ass being all selfish and acting like you own the world. RM woah hey I need this place man OOP: I don't give a fuck about you anymore. Start packing asshole I know I am kind of old to be having stuffed animals but it’s not like I take them everywhere I have it next to the couch as decorations (or at least one of them, the rest are in my room in my closet) The dude is a friend of a friend who desperately needed a place to stay and I offered it. It has been the worst month of my life. Glad I’m done with this asshole. Comments Spirited_Taste4756 GF: don’t you think it’s a bit childish to have a stuffed animal? Roommate: eh it’s my roommates childhood momento so they keep it out as a decoration. Literally didn’t have to even touch your shit to impress his girl. Glad your kicking this loser out. OwnArt3344 Also. The lack of self awareness for those 2 assholes. Anyone who judges someone for their hobbies or does the "thats for kids!" Bullshit? Yeah, that's an insecure, emotionally stunted asshole. Thinking stuffs for kids IS for kids. I don't give a fuck if you somehow watch every episode of CocoMelon and have a blast, glad you found joy in something! Valuable_Solid_3538 35 year old man here… I have a stuffed mouse in a Santa suit that I’ve had my entire life. His name is “Chris Mouse”. I have a daughter now and I plan on passing the rat down to to her when she’s old enough to understand. I have a friend who is the same age, covered in tattoos and is a fire fighter. He has a bear named “Stinky” that he has had his whole life as well. Chris Mouse and Stinky (as well as their owners) are here to back you up homie. Let us know when it’s time to roll. OOP: This has made me feel a lot better about having stuffed animals. Thank you SabrinaT8861 37 here. Have my childhood stuffies on a shelf in the bedroom and another 2 tubbies in storage. If there was ever a fire I'd save my partner and pets and the you'd bet your ass I'm going back in for those stuffies... At dawn we ride! Update - 1 day later Update: He left the house. He left a bit of a mess but I cleaned it in a few minutes Also, turns out he did not throw the stuffed animal out and his girlfriend took it. I asked my friend (the person who introduced me to the roommate) and got her contact info. She had no clue it was mine and apparently he told her it was his and he was gonna give it to her, she returned it the same day after meeting at a local park. I’m hoping they will break up, but as u/squibilly said, not my monkey, not my circus. Now to address some of the “faker” accusations. For one, yes I realize we talk like polar opposites, however he is a Discord addicted man child, I for one take my life seriously and planning to start a business or apply for medical school once i get out of this financial rut I am currently in. I didn’t kick him out after pissing on the floor because I knew he genuinely needed a home and unlike some people I actually cared and understand that getting drunk makes you incredibly stupid. The noise complaints I almost kicked him out for, however after him agreeing to putting the speakers in his girlfriend’s house I barely let it slide. This is the fourth time a bad thing has happened and it just pushed me over the edge. Also, to clarify, we are not on the lease together. I let him stay in my guest bedroom, as a guest. Glad this hell of a roommate is finally out. Thank you all for the support! Comments JpStryder Now to make that guest room into a ball pit of plushes!! It's the only logical thing left to do :p Big hugs! OOP: The fact that I am actually considering this scares me… JpStryder None of us will judge! We shall sing praises of the plush room I am not the OOP. Please do not harass the OOP. Not sure what to do with all my stuffed animals
So a few years ago I decided to redo my room, since I’m now in my 20s and I hadn’t decorated my bedroom since I was 13 so it was very much time for a change lol. Due to a lot of life circumstances, a lot of things got put on hold - as a result I’m still in the process of fixing my room up. I think I’ve done a mostly good job - except for a few trinkets I’ve yet to find a spot for. And also all my stuffed animals. My mom’s graciously been letting me keep them in her room for now, since her room is gigantic, but I still keep some of them in my room. I know I need to find a spot for them but I’m… struggling. I don’t wanna put them in storage, and I don’t wanna get those stuffed animal nets people use, I love them and I’d feel bad not being able to see and snuggle them. I plan on cleaning off the top two shelves of that bookshelf with the bonsai on it and putting some of them there, I know I could probably safely put some on my floor and on top of the chest at the end of my bed. I wanted to know if anyone here had any suggestions though? Please? 😅 submitted by /u/Nsfwitchy to r/ufyh [link] [comments]

How do I convince myself that I'm not abandoning my stuffed animals by donating them
i am very aware that this sounds insane. i am fully aware they are inanimate objects and they are not going to come alive when i leave the room. i am trying to downsize my stuff a lot and that includes a lot of stuffed animals i accumulated over the course of my childhood. they have been sitting in storage bins for a long time (im 31) so at this point i know i'm never going to really do anything with them. i have like 4 (or maybe more) of those bins you use to store christmas decorations that are full of stuffed animals, so i'd really like to free up some space and make an upcoming move a bit easier. but now i also know how necessary and important they were for me as a kid to try to self-regulate within my extremely neglectful and loveless household for many years. when i think about donating them i get these weirdly intense feelings of abandonment, even though i'm the one making the decision to get rid of them. also, they are inanimate objects that have no concept of being donated, but i still feel this incredible sense of guilt for even thinking of getting rid of them. before you suggest this i have tried to find organizations that will take used stuffed animals. everywhere i checked (understandably) only takes new toys with tags. i found an organization called SAFE that says they take used stuffed animals but they don't seem to be operating right now (at least in my area). i give all of my donations to a local charity that has a thrift store so i'm sure at least a few of them will end up in new homes, but i also know how much stuff that gets donated to thrift stores just ends up getting sent to a landfill, and the thought of these toys that got me through such a hellish time will be rotting in a landfill kind of kills me. i guess that's also a harsh reality of consumerism that i need to learn how to deal with. toy story fucked me up good TLDR: how do i stop feeling guilty over the thought that i am abandoning a bunch of stuffed animals who provided a lot of support to me throughout my shitty childhood edit: thank you so much for all your responses! i definitely wasn't expecting so many people to connect with this. i should clarify that i still very much enjoy owning stuffed animals as an adult and my boyfriend (who i am moving in with this year) is supportive of that. i don't want to get rid of 100% of them, but the amount of space the storage bins occupy physically and mentally has been causing a lot of stress, so my goal is to downsize the collection significantly i've also been reading r/plushies lately and many, many people enjoy hunting for stuffed animals in secondhand stores which makes me feel a lot better submitted by /u/Tiny_Chard_5014 to r/CPTSD [link] [comments]
