RE:Why does it take AMZ listings soooo long to generate on the page?
Man, I wish that it was consistently 15 minutes! Sometimes it's a bit faster, but I've had it take days. Which means that I have to keep a stack of books to check back on, and eventually try again to list; but if I try too soon, it might get doubled listed (happened only once, and I caught it pretty quickly; unless there is another I've not caught!)

So @jannis at Magic Pages has been very generous about his open approach and I was able to get Tinybird Local working for a blog. So well that I’ve took everything I’ve learned and applied it to my Flarum Hosting Stack :) Magic Pages will forever remain as the GOAT in my books.

RE:Unable to move SKU's into Competitive Pricing Rule
I'm having a problem placing individual SKU's (books that I sell) into the competitive pricing rule. I'm doing everything I used to do but I keep getting a red alert banner that it wasn't placed and there's no explanation why. That particular page has been re-done from a prior page (which I never had a problem with). Has anyone experienced this recently? Like in the past week?

So, I think it’s a fun idea. I loved those books as a kid. Now, if you post here, you’d have to change them to different names as the rules are if you use a copyrighted character it will be considered from the age the series takes place in, so no growed up stories If you write it though, I’d be interested.

Kobo Plus books automatically deleting themselves from GloHD
I'm using a GloHD on version 4.38.23684. Since the latest update, any downloaded Kobo Plus books have been automatically deleting themselves. I use the Kobo in aeroplane mode (disconnected from any wi-fi) and I'm not sure if this is causing the issue. It wasn't a problem before the update, however. Is anyone else experiencing this problem too? Have you found a solution?

LPT Trick to Read Books Fast If you Have No Attention Span
It will take me an hour to read 20 pages and it feels so frustrating that I don't pick up the book again. So I came up with a new method and it really works. Here it is: Go to a vibey cafe, library, park with your book of choice (out in public keeps me accountable to actually stick with it vs being at home). Find the audiobook for free on YouTube or Spotify (look for someone who's uploaded it as a podcast so it doesn't eat into your allotted audio book hours); it's usually not difficult to find. Start at 1.5 speed and work up to 2-2.5x over the first couple of pages. Follow along in the book at the pace of the narrator, following with your finger helps. If you feel yourself getting distracted, try turning up the volume or adjusting the speed up and down. I usually like to slowly amp up the speed to feel like I'm accomplishing more, which usually pushes me to keep going. You'll start flipping pages like crazy, it feels really good. This isn't revolutionary, I'm sure it's been done before, but I got to page 100 in 45min and had to make myself stop to get some chores done. I feel like I've retained way more information than I usually do from just reading or just listening to an audiobook. Doing both really forced my brain to lock-in and remember what I was reading. I think hearing the narrators tone also gave me deeper understanding of the text. I can not vouch if this would work for people with ADHD, but it's for sure a more stimulating method of reading, maybe worth a shot? Let me know how it goes! TL:DR Audiobook 2.5x speed + following along in the book = high retention of information AND flipping pages way faster than normal. Edit: Check out Libby or your local library's apps for free audiobooks, this supports them! submitted by /u/Ayumisynn to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]

What are your top 5 books of all time?
Feeling a bit nostalgic for all the beautiful books I’ve read in my lifetime. What are the five books that have stuck with you and make you glad to be a human? *edited to further explain my meaning for the list per subreddit rules: by glad to be human, I don’t mean life affirming, but rather books that reflect and shape and make tangible the experience of being alive, books that make you feel that all of the suffering you have experienced and witnessed as a human being existing in this world are worth it, just for getting to experience the perfection of a great novel. Here are mine: *(edited to include a description/basis for recommending of each per rules) The God of Small Things — Arundhati Roy Roy’s prose is exceptional from the opening moments. She renders the vivid landscapes and the machinations of her large and complicated family with lush and provocative details, and I have returned to read snippets and passages hundreds of times. The structure of the novel is also unique, but it is ultimately the deeper themes of the book—of class and caste, of who can be loved and how much—that has made this my favorite book for decades. Parable of the Sower — Octavia Butler The two Parable books are almost confounding in how prescient they are of our current situation. They capture the American pathos, of race and class and religion, and capitalist exploitation and warn us of where we are headed. The books are written as a diary and start in July 2024. They are more relevant today than ever before. The Mars Room — Rachel Kushner The Mars Room might be my pick for my favorite novel of the 21st century. It jumps in time between San Francisco of the 1990s and a women’s prison. Kushner narrates her own audiobook and her reading brings out the humor and the irony in her writing. When I finished it, my heart was pounding, not merely from the action but from how breathtakingly beautiful the prose was. Rebecca — Daphne Du Maurier I’ve just always loved Rebecca. Best first line in literature. Maybe it’s time for a reread. Milkman — Anna Burns Milkman has a unique, stream of consciousness voice that highlights the unique voice of the character and circumstances. In some ways it is the best representation of what it is to be a teenage girl, the fear and confusion and the way people project their desires and needs onto you. The representation of the troubles and society wracked with civil war and political turmoil is also astounding. submitted by /u/illegal_fiction to r/books [link] [comments]
