I have redone some pages when the original page had yellowing - epoxy (I hate it!), vellum tape, etc. I'm much happier with them. I've also gone back into my first layouts, which were mostly just cardstock, and added patterned paper, enamel dots, etc., and I've been happy with that, too. I might go back into a few other layouts this year and redo them or fix them up, but it isn't a priority.

Hello fine people of reddit. I am trying to print my own slipcovers for bluray / dvds ect. and am trying to find a decent photo paper or cardstock to use that meets the following criteria. is at least 110lbs/300gsm is preferably either 8.5"x14" or 11"x17" has a slight glossy finish on 1 side works with my Epson 8550 inkjet printer is reasonably priced (would like to stay under $1 a sheet) I have been looking around for a week now and it seems like I can check off a maximum of 3 of the 5 points before the other one is a solid no. I never knew there were so many types of paper, numbers, and variables involved with this new task / hobby i've decided to take on. I am almost convinced that anything over 80lbs and glossy is just not compatible with inkjet but again have no idea. The closest I have been able to find is Koala 11x17 double sided glossy photo paper that is 69lbs/260gsm which looks great but is too thin. Then today I picked up some Recollections 8.5"x11 110lb/300gsm cardstock paper and it feels about the right thickness but I have to use 2 sheets for 1 cover and the print quality is lacking because it is a flat matte so the ink spreads slightly and doesn't look sharp / isn't anywhere close to a semi-glossy/glossy finish. Every other paper that I find that checks most of the boxes is coated which will not work with the inkjet. I'm starting to think i'm nuts and looking for something that isn't there. Hoping one of you fine ladies or gentlemen can prove me wrong and bring this dark chapter of my life to a close with some plausible options. I've been struggling to find a printer that can handle thicker cardstock paper. Does anyone know of printers that can handle printing a lot of cardstock? I was looking at the Canon PIXMA Pro-200 because someone mentioned it could handle that kind of paper, but the specs on the website show it can only go up to 100lb paper. A number of years ago, my husband and I were invited to a black tie wedding in the Hamptons (Long Island, NY). Which is all well and good if that's your thing and at least it wasn't in the height of summer and the insane prices - it was in November. The invitation was incredibly ornate and the heaviest paper/cardstocks I think I've ever seen. They hired a wedding planner and very obviously poured a ton of money into it. They were both working at high level, high paying jobs at investment banks in NYC before the '08 crash and enjoyed spending that money. There's a laundry list of how spending money doesn't mean you get it right - 1 - the recommended/reserved accommodations started at $600 per night and were near the church, which was a good 45 minute drive from the reception - shuttle buses were included at least. We stayed at a nice and comfortable but not fancy motel that was right next to the reception location. 2 - the reception started 2 hours after the ceremony to allow time for transportation and photos so people were hanging out in November waiting for the shuttle buses and then being driven around in circles to kill time 3 - The reception was in a barn - it really was lovely. However, there wasn't enough room inside for the cocktail reception and dinner so the cocktail hour was outside under a tent. On grass. With no additional flooring. All of the women were sitting because otherwise our heels would sink into the grass, it was a pretty ridiculous scene. 4 - We move inside for the dinner and the lighting was almost all candlelight. Beautiful, until you realized that the light was insufficient for the incredibly ornate script on the place cards - they would have been challenging enough with more light. With no seating chart, people were wandering around squinting for a while. 5 - the first course was a shrimp bisque with two whole shrimp on top. Still in the shells with the heads. Not ideal for a black-tie dinner. 6 - My husband was a vegetarian at the time and his main course was a stuffed pepper. Looked great. It was actually stuffed with wildly undercooked quinoa. 7 - The table decor consisted of beautiful tall silver candelabra with 8 arms and black tapers, with moss at the base of each candle. Interspersed with these were very tall vases with extremely long silver-painted branches, from which were suspended tea lights in a variety of small black holders, the whole thing probably 10 feet above the ground. As the evening wore on, the heat from the tea lights melted the fishing line holding them so the tealights and holders would crash down onto the tables and onto people's plates. Several of the tapers from the candelabra melted down enough that the moss caught on fire - there were at least 2 that were carried out by staff as they blazed away. 8 - The maid of honor was drunk when it came time to give her speech and she shared the story of how the bride and groom met. Turns out it was a drunken hookup when they were both seriously dating other people, not a great story for family members to hear.... It was kind of sad that they spent many thousands of dollars and it was just not a particularly enjoyable evening. And they did divorce not many years later. So, I've been meddling a bit on a way to print some proxies that did not feel like proxies. Since I live in Italy, and I dont wanna hand out to my players some (perceived) lower quality than the original cards, I've been working on remaking the frames and layouts in a vector program and search for a way to print the cards in high detail and with mostly the same level of flexibility/rougness. I have reached a good level with my inkjet printer and I will try to ask a local shop to print these with their professional laser printer. But even tho I have a 300 gsm cardstock, and the thickness is the correct one, the original cards are shinier (both in the look, and in the feel) and more flexible. Since I dont believe its a matter of print quality cause that should affect the definition of the print, i am wondering what kind of cardstock they are using. I already know these are not printed like mtg cards, since they do not have an inner core to avoid being seen through. Also, whenever I search for glossy paper, I end up with photo paper, and that has that sticky feel cards do not have. Okay so I bought the dvd off of amazon and it showed up at my house yesterday. Where there would usually be a booklet or a scene selection guide there was this insane pamphlet printed on cardstock paper, and it sounds super cult-y and weird. It doesn’t seem to have any connection to the movie but mentions Minecraft a lot, calling it ‘a way out’ and on the backside there is a mojang logo and an ‘all rights reserved’ disclaimer. The phone number leads to nothing and the website is clearly just the scientology website. I didn’t try the Email yet because I’m afraid of spam/viruses. No offense but from what I understand scientology is a bit of a confusing belief system…still seems out of place for them to be advertising like this. The thing that truly throws me off is the mojang logo on the flip side that makes it look legit. Many years ago I worked at Kinko's (now FedEx Office). I often worked graveyard shifts and had to deal with lots of people early in the morning who "hadn't had their coffee yet". For some context, overnight was the time when long machine runs were printed and tedious finishing work was done. Being the only one working until 6am when the morning crew started to trickle in, I was often in the middle of something when the customer came in and it would take me a second to get to the counter to help them. One morning around 5am I am in the back doing some binding work. I hear the door alarm and had just put a perfect binding in the heater. This takes about 15 to 20 seconds to melt the glue and bind the pages. I (ME) yell from the back, "I'll be right out." Bitchy Customer (BC) yells back, "I'm in a hurry." I finish the binding and get up to the counter. ME: Sorry about the wait. What can I do for you. BC: Can I see your resume paper selection? Our resume papers were literally sitting six inches away from her on the counter, in a little bound book that had "RESUME PAPER" printed in big bold letters. I slide the book over in front of her and open it up. As she flips through it she proceeds to complain about the color and texture of every paper before asking me the price. ME: 15 cents per copy, plus 7 cents if you want to print on the second side. BC: That's expensive don't you have any better paper for that price? ME: Sorry, that's our full selection of resume papers. The only other options are plain white copy paper, Astrobrights (neon colored) or card stock. Are you going to need this double sided or single sided? I could see that she had in front of her a two page resume, which usually printed single sided. BC: Which one is cheaper? ME: Double sided will be cheaper. But for resume's our customers usually prefer single sided. BC: Just give me 50 copies double sided on the sandstone. I confirm her selection and head back to the copier to complete her order. I print out a proof and as a matter of quality assurance I give it a once over to confirm we're not getting any fuser marks, random spots, streaks, etc.. I notice that her job title on her most recent job was something like "Copyweiter". I assumed she meant copywriter and confirmed as much by reading a bit of the description. ME: Ma'am, I noticed your previous job title is... BC: (interrupting) I'd appreciate it if you didn't snoop on my personal information. ME: I apologize, I just noticed a ty... BC: Please just print my order. ME: (malicious compliance kicking in) Ok. I printed the entire stack of 50 resumes and was squaring them up when I noticed "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..." in the last paragraph on the page. At this point I had to tell her - right? As I'm walking over to the counter to show her the missed filler text she yells, BC: WILL YOU PLEASE NOT CRIMP THE PAGES. I NEED TO HAND THOSE OUT. So I make it to the counter gently placing her copies in a bag and rang her out. She did come back later to complain, but my manager assured her that we don't make it a practice to proofread customer's documents as that's their responsibility.
