Simple electric kettles last longer than fancy ones
Electric kettles are one of those appliances where simpler usually means longer-lasting. The core job is just heating water, and the more electronics you add—temperature displays, multiple modes, touch panels—the more things there are that can fail after a few years. If durability is the goal, I’d start with a stainless steel kettle with minimal features. Ideally the interior should be all metal so the water isn’t touching plastic. A flat stainless interior plate (instead of an exposed coil) also helps because mineral buildup is easier to manage. Descaling every so often with vinegar goes a long way toward keeping them running for years. I’ve seen basic kettles last a decade or more just because they didn’t try to do anything fancy. A lot of people have good long-term experiences with brands like Breville and KitchenAid, while more repair-focused brands like Dualit are known for building appliances that can actually be serviced instead of tossed. If you want something more design-forward, the all-metal build on the Aarke kettle gets mentioned a lot for both durability and looks. On the budget side, even basic models from Chefman or Mueller can last years if you keep them clean and don’t run them dry. Personally, I’d prioritize solid stainless construction, minimal electronics, and easy descaling over extra features. Curious what others prioritize more—simplicity and durability, or temperature control for tea and coffee? submitted by /u/ella_794 to r/ProductQuery [link] [comments]

Less than 3 years old electric kettle flaking/chipped already? Kettle recommendations welcomed!
Hi everyone! So I have this electric kettle for less than 3 years and I noticed little flakes in my hot water to make tea. I actually bought this kettle because the previous one was flaking too after less than two years. How do I use my kettle? I just boil water from 2-3 times a week. It's not an everyday use so i don't know why it already looks like this (it is a Chefman Electric Kettle) Is there a way to fix it or would I have to buy a new kettle?? If so, could you please recommend me electric kettles that do not flake or last longer?? I am willing to invest. and if you have any advice on how to keep the kettle from flaking quickly as well pls do share! I was planning this year to drink more tea. submitted by /u/vidragon21 to r/tea [link] [comments]

Sanitizing a stainless steel electric kettle top
Hot water heater is out. Was using a stainless steel electric kettle to fill up a gravity feed for a shower. Top of the kettle fell into the bathroom tub. I would like to sanitize the top. Tips on sanitizing? It's a Chefman 1.8L if that makes a difference. submitted by /u/MauveMammoth to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

My electric kettle isn’t accurate. Is that normal??
I’m new to electric kettles. In the past, I’ve microwaved my water and used a thermometer. It’s inconvenient, so I wanted something easier and opted for an electric kettle. I don’t want to spend much more than $50, so I found a Chefman kettle at Target for around $30. I’ve seen people on reddit mention liking theirs a lot. I used it three times to make my matcha, and every time, it was ass. It was clumpy and not dissolving. After the third time, I took the temp of the water out of the kettle and it was 30 degrees less than it was supposed to be. Tried again with a different temp and it was 30 lower. Tried again and got 5 lower. Tried again and got 5 over. Basically, this is a brand new tea kettle, but I’m not able to get an accurate temp with it. Given that, I want to buy a different kettle. I live in a small apartment and don’t have anywhere to put it, so a 12 inch gooseneck kettle isn’t an option. I also don’t want to spend much more than $50, so anything over $100 is not a helpful recommendation. Has anyone had issues with their kettle, regardless of brand, not matching the correct temp when manually measured?? Thanks for any insight and help submitted by /u/youpoopedyerpants to r/tea [link] [comments]

Cozy for electric kettle
Hi everyone! I am looking to buy a tea cozy that is specifically designed for a shape similar to my Chefman 1.8L Glass Electric Kettle. I've hit a wall because most cozies I find for sale are designed for the "short and stout" shape of a traditional teapot. This kettle is quite tall and cylindrical, and I'm struggling to find a professional, ready-made option with those proportions. Does anyone know of a brand or shop that sells cozies meant for taller electric kettles? I'd love to keep my water at temp a bit longer between pours (while it's unplugged, of course!). Thanks in advance for the help! submitted by /u/SimplisticAnswer to r/tea [link] [comments]

Is this the electric kettle for life?
My non-negotiables for an electric kettle are: No plastic - including the inside of the lid. Glass (borosilicate glass) or Stainless Steel (food grade 304 steel) No rusting Able to see temperature (either set it or see it with temp gauge) I'm looking at the COSORI electric glass kettle with temperature setting. Also looking at COSORI's stainless steel version. Could this be the tea kettle for life? Another option is the Chefman Lightning temp control edition What I really might be asking is... why is Fellow over twice the price of COSORI if the materials are the same? submitted by /u/bhuman87878 to r/KitchenAppliances [link] [comments]

Can you recommend a good electric kettle that has no plastic touching the water?
Hi, I want to purchase an electric kettle from a reputable brand. I don't want any plastic parts touching the water. It should be all stainless steel or glass inside. I also hope it's from a reputable brand that doesn't use any toxic substance especially for parts that get in contact with the water. I bought one off Amazon (Chefman) and it came with a P65 cancer warning. It seems common for electric kettles. I might have to just microwave my water I guess... Please advise.
