Dubai Chocolate is a cover up for Dubais known human porta potties
A theory that I’ve had for a long time: Dubai is known for having models and influencers fly out there get defecated on for money, trips, bags, and dinners. It’s been a big “secret in the media” for years now. Dubai chocolate (the candy) was recently created and while hearing so many people say it’s not that good it’s everywhere, strawberries, cakes, peanuts, notebook themes even. I feel like it’s a case of Dubai creating this thing to cover up the search results of Dubai chocolate and the horrors that may entail granted Dubai is very strict with there indecency laws and would probably do anything to cover that up. It’s similar to the theory that Disney created frozen the movie to cover up the search results that would come up when you search Walt Disney frozen. submitted by /u/TieDifficult4444 to r/theories [link] [comments]

What happened to my chocolate covered strawberries?
I tried making chocolate covered strawberries for the first time and an hour later they had droplets of water on them even though I didn’t get them wet. I make chocolate covered strawberries when I want to bring a "special" dish, but am super lazy or pressed for time.
[Edit: Due to multiple requests, here's a link to the pecan recipe. Here's my tl;dr version of chocolate strawberry recipe: melt chocolate, dip strawberries, and put on waxed paper or non-stick parchment paper. I'm providing more details on the chocolate strawaberry recipe at the end.] Every time I bring chocolate covered strawberries for a pot luck or a kid's school event, everyone seems very impressed. Like I'm some sort of chocolatier. But it's honestly the simplest and fasted thing to make once you're taught. All you need is waxed paper, dry strawberries, chocolate, and a bit of oil. I don't even use a double boiler anymore. I just nuke the chocolate carefully in the microwave, reheating and adding oil as needed. A couple times, I even made several dozen in the lunch room at work for a birthday party there. Another one is candied pecans baked in the oven with sugar and cinnamon. Egg white + water mixture binds the sugar to the nuts. 15 minutes of prep work and an hour in the oven. What simple dish do you make that dazzles everyone? [Edit: As promised, here are more details and nuances about chocolate strawberries. Please keep in mind that I'm a home cook and figured this out through trial and error in my 20s, which was 30 years ago. Never read a recipe on it, so there are likely better ways, but this works for me. Ingredients: Use whatever strawberries you prefer. Use whatever meltable chocolate you prefer, in whatever darkness you like. Chocolate chips are reliable, while some some chocolate candy bars don't melt well. Melting: All I do is microwave melt the chocolate gently in a low setting. Or just do it in 20 second bursts. If you burn it, you'll have to toss the entire batch. Or use a double burner (I haven't done a double burner in 30 years). Dip the strawberries in, and lay them down on waxed paper at room temp. You can put them in fridge, but they'll start sweating due to condensation when you take them out. Why oil? At first you don't need any oil. In fact, if you do a small batch or are lucky, you won't need it at all. The oil is only used if the melted chocolate later seizes up or gets clumpy from moisture. Use just basic vegetable/canola oil. A couple drops at first, but only after chocolate starts clumping. With chocolate covered strawberries, the absolute most important thing is that there's zero water on the strawberries, because water will make melted chocolate clumpy and seize up; but if that happens only a little, you can add a couple drops of oil to loosen the chocolate up. Literally just add 2 drops at first and stir; if that doesn't fix it add a couple more drops. If you add too much oil, the cholocate won't harden anymore at room temp...still edible though. If the strawberry is bruised or if you cut off the stems/cores, the moisture from the strawberries themselves will seize up the chocolate. LPT: Making your own chocolate covered strawberries is easy, cheap, and tastes better than store bought.
Store bought chocolate covered strawberries will run you around $35 for just 6 strawberries (and that's priced from a cheap grocery store), but a pound of strawberries and a bag of your favorite chocolate chips is less than $10, and you'll get at least twice as many strawberries, if not more than that. Also, I personally think store bought chocolate covered strawberries are gross, because they tend to use melting chocolate, which just isn't as tasty as regular chocolate! Super simple recipe for delicious, homemade chocolate covered strawberries: You'll need: strawberries your favorite chocolate chips (NOT melting chocolate! Can be semi sweet, milk, or dark chocolate of any brand, but be forewarned that sometimes fancier brands are harder to work with because they burn easier) microwave safe bowl, ceramic works best spoon canola oil (or if you're a monster like me, any oil will do really) plastic or ceramic plate (if not presenting) skewers (if presenting) Styrofoam (if presenting) Directions: If you don't care about presentation, go ahead and chop the tops off those strawberries. If you do want to present these, leave the tops on. Put some chocolate chips in your microwave safe bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Pour a small amount of oil in after microwaving, just enough to stir and coat the chocolate chips. Don't be too heavy handed with this or your chocolate won't harden well later. Microwave again for 30 seconds. Take out and stir (do not add more oil unless your chips look dry!). Repeat until all chips are melted. If you cut the tops off earlier, go ahead and just dunk those strawberries in the chocolate haphazardly. Take them out and put them cut side down on a plastic or ceramic plate (basically just not paper). 5a. If you left the tops on, carefully hold the strawberries by the leaves and dunk them in the chocolate to coat. Then, take a skewer and stab through the bottom of the strawberry. Put the other end of the skewer into the styrofoam so the strawberry is upright and the chocolate drips down onto the styrofoam. Refrigerate until chocolate hardens. Set them up pretty if you're presenting them to someone, or just dig in if you're not! That's all there is to it! I make them year-round just as a snack because it's so simple and tasty. So if you or your partner loves chocolate covered strawberries, try making them yourself this year instead of buying mediocre ones for a hefty price tag. Edit: Some of y'all are really pressed about where I got my price comparison, lol. And that's ok! Obviously prices are gonna vary by the million and one stores that are offering chocolate covered strawberries this time of year. I checked the price on a very large, popular U.S. grocery store chain's website, and found multiple results that were around $35 for 6 strawberries. So that's where my number came from. If you have different numbers, that's cool, but it doesn't change my point that homemade is most likely gonna be cheaper than store bought. A pound of strawberries from the same grocery store chain I used for the earlier price check is ~$3 right now (varies by season of course) and the chocolate chips that I like to buy are ~$2, making a grand total of $5. A pound of strawberries is going to be at least 12 strawberries, possibly more depending on the size of the strawberries, so that is a far better deal than buying from a store. If you don't want to make them yourself, then don't! Girl I'm not stopping you from going to the store, lol. Damn, feel like I'm in math class being asked to show my work. submitted by /u/OG-mother-earth to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]
