Yk who’s worse than UCs?…NRI UCs-
These NRI UCs have a serious Stockholm syndrome and submission kink that they wouldn’t like to admit as much. Their obsession with impressing westerners genuinely needs to be studied atp. Dr. BR Ambedkar was right. These leaches will carry on their evil legacy wherever they go. Let it be moon or mars🙄 I have heard UCs saying that back in the day, capable people (aka UCs) used to immigrate. Now any tom dick n harry (aka LCs) comes to US. (God forbid ppl immigrate to upgrade their work n lifestyle 🤯😱🤧) Ofc back in the day “capable Indians” used to immigrate cuz they had caste privileges, class privileges, the capital, access, network and resources. Now when resources and opportunities are democratised, when their elite bubble is “infiltrated”, ofc they will feel uneasy. They love “performing” Indian culture💅🏾🇮🇳✨(Nama-slayy kween bs) while simultaneously ridiculing their cousins for their accents, their local culture, etc. I can’t stand their fake inclination towards “hindooooism”(🙏🏾🪷💅🏾✨🕉️), mantras, yoga, astrology, crystals, chaawkraaszzz and whatnot🤧 I feel this is due to insecurity where they double down (pretentiously ofc) on their culture to rebel and prove their otherness to the westerners. Coachella is an obvious case of their performance. I literally can’t with their tacky komolika-ahh outfits. Don’t get me started on these short make-shift sarees. Idgaf on how they wanna drape their clothes. I’m all for women dressing slutty if they really want to. But what drives me nuts is that they think they are doing a “big favour” by representing Indian fashion (no thanks bih-). I saw someone claim that this drape is worn by coastal women of Odisha for ease in doing work. I was like- bih u really think that we think u care abt representing “cOasTaL oDiA wOmeN”??!! Just accept that ydk jackshii- about Indian culture and just wanna dress promiscuously. We won’t judge u i swear. I bet they can't even pronounce their surnames properly let alone represent Indian fashion. They don’t wear these props to authentically represent their culture. Rather it is for proving their “otherness” to the westerners. Im not as familiar w boys as much but I will say what I have observed. A lot of NRI men dream of marrying foreign women and look down on Indian women. They do so until they realise that she is a baddie w a developed pre-frontal cortex and won’t tolerate bs like their moms n sisters did. Then they will say- “Oh these foreigners are too much (yeah too much to control and oppress), our Indian women only are better.” Pick a side istg-🙄 I see them getting braids n locs, Sikh boys wearing durags, listening to hiphop music, wearing black fashion, etc. ofc they are free to do whatever they want but at least don’t be a bigot? Black-fishing while being racist/colourist simultaneously is beyond me. It is beyond embarrassing to see caste pride stickers like- Jaat, Rajputana, Brahmin, Reddy etc. on cars. Especially Telugus proudly hosting caste pride events w influential ppl participating in it. Food is another aspect. Beef/pork/non-veg becomes impure when we consume it. When foreigners eat it, all their disgust evaporates. Then it is just looked on as fat n protein. I love it when they are bashed by right wing conservatives (whom they wanna woo the most) for being vegetarian when they behave the same way w non vegetarians in India. NRI UCs one on hand cry that they are “oppressed” by the right wing in US but they do worse shii back in India. I have no sympathy for them. Let these leaches get a taste of their own medicine.🖕🏾🖕🏾🖕🏾🖕🏾🖕🏾 🖕🏾✌🏾🥀❤️🩹😖 submitted by /u/AddressOk9811 to r/OutCasteRebels [link] [comments]

A short guide to the Hipster Era
Phase One (2001-2007): The Edgy phase Overview: Middle Class youth move from the suburbs into cheap urban neighborhoods after the White Flight of the midcentury. Key Locations: Manhattan, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, London Key Events: iPod released (2001), iPhone released (2007), Third Wave Coffee movement, social media beginnings: Myspace(2003), Facebook (2004) Return of analog: (vinyl records, fixed gear bicycles, polaroid cameras) Key Figures: Julian Casablancas/The Strokes, Wes Anderson, Joe Swanberg, Noah Baumbach, Duplass Brothers, Richard Linklater, Karen O, Greta Gerwig, Michael Cera, Jack White, Will Butler/Arcade Fire, James Murphy, Jim James/My Morning Jacket, Lilly Allen Key Works: The Strokes - Is This It (2001), Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Arrested Development (2003–2006), Before Sunset (2004), Juno (2007), Arcade Fire- Funeral (2004) Feist-The Reminder (2007), Flight of the Concords (2007-2009) Key Institutions: \-Pitchfork/AV Club/The Onion: sardonic, detached, snobbish/elitist, irreverent, satiric \-IFC/Sundance: independent films and later original TV show productions shown on cable TV \-Vice: Hipster culture and lifestyle news \-Other: used record stores, independent coffee shops, DIY music venues, Brooklyn Vegan, Glasslands music venue, The Smell music venue Key Fashion: “ironic fashion” such as t-shirts with advertisements or trucker hats, hodge podge/mismatched outfits, denim jackets, business shirts/jackets/neckties with jeans Key Websites: Myspace, Facebook, Pitchfork, Vice, Stereogum, Gorilla Vs Bear, Brooklyn Vegan, [Last.FM](http://last.fm/), various music blogs Phase Two (2008-2012): The Aesthetic phase Overview: Bringing blue collar/outdoorsman sensibilities to urban living. A focus on authenticity and a return to folksy/rustic type minimalism with work clothes worn as leisureware, exposed/raw building materials, handcrafted objects, while at the same time approaching a more European ornateness/decadence such as gallery hopping, Yelp/foodie culture, tasteful tattoos/sleeves, and a holistic approach to all aesthetic aspects of culture from word fonts to facial hair to house plants. There is a noticeable move from the rawness/sleaze of the first Hipster phase to more composed, lush, and artsy elements as exemplified by the “Tumblr aesthetic.” Folk/Acoustic inspired music sits comfortably side by side with new movements in EDM, alternative hip-hop, emo revival, and garage/lo-fi rock in a burgeoning and diversifying Indie festival scene. Key Locations: Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Austin, San Francisco Key Events: Bandcamp founded (2008), Obama inauguration (2009), Spotify comes to U.S. (2011), Entering the mainstream: Mumford and Sons/Indie folk movement, (2009-2011), Arcade Fire Grammy Win (2011), Bon Iver Grammy Win (2012), Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know(2012) Facebook buys Instagram (2012) Key Figures: Justin Vernon/Bon Iver, Great Gerwig, Noah Baumbach, Lena Dunham, James Murphy, Will Butler/Arcade Fire, Mumford and Sons, Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams, Jess Wexler, Mark Duplass Key Works: Vampire Weekend -S/T (2008) Fleet Foxes -S/T (2008) The Middle East – The Recordings Of The Middle East( 2008) Animal Collective- Merriweather Post Pavilion (2009), Where the Wild Things Are (2009), Scott Pilgrim vs the World, movie (2010), Of Monsters and Men - My Head is An Animal (2011), Drive (2011) film and soundtrack, Girls, HBO show (2012-2017), Frances Ha (2012) Key Institutions: Pitchfork, South by Southwest, Coachella, Vice, American Apparel, Indie Film/Music Festivals, Craft Breweries Key Fashion: Skinny jeans, plaid flannel, Converse chuck shoes, scarves/beanies in warm weather Key Websites: Twitter, Tumblr, Bandcamp, Pitchfork Third Phase- 2013-2018: Mainstream Overview: Hipsterdom was mainly absorbed into the overall cultural zeitgeist of social media brands, influencers, conspicuous consumption, and virtue signalling. There is a more of a focus on sustainability, local consumption, wellness (organic/natural, nonGMO, yoga). Music sites become more inclusive of pop and hip hop. The social media aesthetic becomes something that can be monetized with branding/influencing. Key Locations: Los Angeles/Palm Springs, Nashville, Silicon Valley Key events: Yahoo buys Tumblr (2013): Arcade Fire goes dance pop (2013), Arcade Fire - Her film soundtrack (2013) M83 - Oblivion film soundtrack (2013) Pitchfork goes pop (2016ish), Trump inauguration 2017, Whole Foods bought by Amazon (2017) Beyonce at Coachella (2018) Key Works: The Big Ask (2013), Drinking Buddies (2013), Vice News HBO (2013-) Arctic Monkeys- AM (2013), Tame Impala Currents (2015), Easy Netflix TV show (2016-2019), Ladybird (2017), Under the Silver Lake (2018), High Maintenance Web series and HBO show (2012-2020) Key People: Greta Gerwig, Shane Smith, Joe Swanberg, Mac DeMarco, Kevin Parker, Adam Driver, Will Butler/Arcade Fire, Sky Ferreira, Lorde, Melanie Lynskey, Jason Ritter, Gillian Jacobs Key Institutions: Pitchfork, Silicon Valley, Sweetgreen, Shake Shack, Indie Festival Circuit Key Fashion: band merch, floral/polka dot men’s shirts, denim cutoffs, round frame glasses, high rise jeans, white shoes/white socks Key Websites: Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat Conclusion Conspicuous consumption is a defining feature of hipsterdom. It is about bringing the underground/retro/forgotten to the forefront. Vinyl collections, antiques, tattoos, groomed facial hair all become signifiers of a manicured and deliberate lifestyle. By tying conspicuous consumption to social media, we are able to see how the term “Hipster” has been able to be applied to so many aspects of culture: music/fashion/food/art/photography/film, even values/personality. It's the embodiment of a cohesive capitalist value system with a focus on local/authentic production and consumption, tastemaking and curation, lifestyle and virtue signaling, spread through the technological innovations of the 21st century. A key element in both the life and death of hipsterdom is the smart phone. The explosion of social media apps directly correlates with the rise in hipster influence and saturation. The smart phone allowed every aspect of the curated life to be recorded and shared. Conversely, the improvement to the smart phone camera meant the masses could also take professional looking photographs and no longer needed to have an actual camera, which was an important aspect of the Hipster experience: taking photos on actual film. Eventually technology was able to replicate all the retro, analog features the Hipster embraced for example: Instagram filters, t-shirt screen prints, retro music instruments, etc. Hipsterdom is defined by being a visible lifestyle if not a lifestyle of visibility. It removed the stigma from tattoos and facial hair, it was embodied by an egalitarianism with with unisex clothing and a unisex aesthetic as a whole. Women with tattoos, male grooming/doing yoga, etc. It took social media from personal and familial to curated and global. Another important aspect is that it is apolitical and focused more on specific issues of consumption and lifestyle such as sustainability, walkability, fair trade etc,. it is a non-confrontational and aspirational cultural movement. Another key factor to defining hipsterdom is an urban revival by suburban, mainly white, youth moving back to abandoned/rundown neighborhoods in major cities. They then get jobs in visible and public facing occupations such as film/music industry, media/journalism, restaurant/retail, bartending/barista, not to mention new media such as blogging, online journalism, social media manager etc. which led to the appearance of a widespread and commercial counter-culture at the forefront of art and culture when in reality it was a small, yet highly visible segment of the Millennial generation. These millennials were the first to embrace social media such as Twitter/Tumblr/Instagram as means of self expression and a curated brand, not just a way to share updates with friends and family. What separates the hipster era from other youth cultures of the past is the novelty of social media, which gave normally underground culture a visibility and marketability that led to the blending of the counter culture and the mainstream into an indistinguishable of society aesthetic and virtue-conscious consumption. Hipsterdom is the cohesion/universality of the hipster aesthetics/ideals brought about by social media and the global reach of online content/publications on the Internet. **Author’s Note**: This was an attempt at a short, comprehensive, yet not complete, account of the Hipster era. There is mainly a U.S. focus with some UK inclusions. There are, I admit, some personal blind spots especially regarding fashion, literature, the arts, interior decorating, crafts and culinary, etc. in addition to the non-Anglo zeitgeist. I tried to give a broad sampling but no doubt important examples will have been omitted/overlooked. I purposely omitted some artworks that felt more like an outsider’s take on Hipsterdom rather than coming from within the Hipster ecosystem itself, for example, Garden State, 500 (Days of Summer), New Girl, Portlandia, etc. Overall, my selections are based mainly on my own feelings of what best reflect the “Hipster Ideal.” Additionally my use of “virtue signalling” should be read as neutral and as objective as possible as this is a behavior that is a part of all human kind and not solely a political/left-wing act. 100 CAS Challenge: Day 91
Today’s creation is a sim from the 1920s. Meet Robert Davies, second class working man, adjusting back to civilian life after World War 1. After creating this sim I knew I had to add a black and white filter. I also played around with the settings to give more of a vintage feel. submitted by /u/Antique-Relief-4951 to r/Sims4 [link] [comments]

100 CAS Challenge: Day 88
Day 88 is for a “mythical creature” I made a faun/satyr along with her companion an alicorn! Since we don’t have pegasus wings in the base game, I found this horse on the gallery and I added the horn, beard and butterflies on the tail. submitted by /u/Antique-Relief-4951 to r/Sims4 [link] [comments]

S3x Dolls & Slaves
I'm fully convinced the company just wants them to be complete sex dolls. Their producers are making them act sexy, their dressed in sexualized child-ish clothing, and it genuinely looks like Lara, Daniela, and Megan's clothes are getting shorter and shorter (except that one carpet outfit was see through with only her breast and private parts covered, so she was basically nearly naked by now) Not only that, but the whole horse scene in the Pinky Up video with Yoonchae on it and the girls saying 'sexy' when reacting to it in the MV (even tho it seemed like they didn't wanna be there and were saying a bunch of a bullshit to keep ppl happy, they seemed overall unimpressed exactly like viewers cause it wasn't fucking anything special and was just freaky. Daniela looked like she kept zoning out and all Lara could say was that she was 'gagged') It keeps getting weirder and weirder. Their being displayed as whores at this point, nearly everything they do is either forced or sexual and made to bring it weird men and predators. It was already weird when I heard the porn moan for the first time in GNARLY, that’s when I started being really weirded out by them. Here’s their team coaching them on how to look and dance during the moan part like it’s just normal. Yoonchae was a minor and all she could do was laugh nervously after this lady gave these directions No one talked about it, barely anyone batted a eye besides a few people their getting weirder by the second rather than by the minute. Then it was the whole 'gum' thing. With the girls kissing the wapper and making spray made out of their breath for people to buy.....with people thinking it was a joke at first until it was actually deadass. Not to mention the recent clip of the one of the choreographers (Sohey I think his name is) teaching Megan how to act sexier and then that picture of her doing the splits with her literal ass half out. The way Megan reacts to her scenes tells me something is very weird going on behind the scenes.. and the fact they put yoonchae on a stage with an outfit showing her underwear was fucking weird as well (well pretty much all the girls were in underwear) It's like when one of the former pcd (Pussycat Dolls) members said they were in a prostitution ring It's not at all 'sexy and bold', it's straight up catering to pedophiles who love to fetishize submissive women with a certain 'sexyness' in them. Eyekons always say their are trying to be hot sexy women with boldness and confidence but this ain't women empowerment at all. I have seen multiple female pop stars like britney spears, madonna, christina aguilera, tyla, and etc who have literally performed on stage wearing bikini , lingerie or even bra but none of them looked like they were sexualising themselves. There's a way to own their sexuality without showcasing an ounce of objectification but all Katseye is doing is being equivalent to pedo fishing and catering to perverted men . Their dressed in babydoll dresses yet it's paired with sexy elements (Twerking, fishnets, lingerie along with cutesy expressions, teddy bears, toys etc) and all it's giving is a pedo's fantasy. I don't know what image they are trying to portray. In the west, they present themselves in a sexy manner and in South Korea, they infantilize themselves to the point of sexualizing a simple school girls uniform and the duality is disgusting And all the girls do is cope by calling each other sexy and flirting with a each other and shit (including whatever the FUCK Megan and Lara were doing at Coachella) And I fear people heavily underestimate the impact the negativity can create. I had a friend who grew around a competitive space and adults who watched adult content around her and she thought being a 'adult' was cool and wanted to act grown, but in her mind, being a woman meant being sexy and a slut and seeking HEAVY male validation. And it was always fueled because of the sexual jokes the own woman in the family would make around her (including her mom, aunt, cousins, etc) In her mind Femininity = sexy so she grew up wearing bras, crop tops, low-cut tops and dresses, booty shorts, thongs, etc. even if I told her straight to her face she'd laugh it off or call me jealous and it genuinely scared me. And the ONLY way she snapped out of it was by being harassed. You have to harassed to get out of the mindset. But it's a hit or miss cause it can either fuel it more and make you ignorant, it can work, or can make you feel bad and even make you su1c1dal People heavily underestimate the conclusions children and young people can draw from consuming things like this regarding sexuality, how women (and even men) are viewed in society, and their self-worth. I've had two guy friends go through this as well exactly like the friend I just explained. And the Katseye members are either being babied, ppl are ignoring it, or their getting tired with the company yet continue to participate in the sexual acting (especially Lara with the parents she has) And for the slave part, the girls are genuinely everywhere at once Concerts, fan meets, stages, lives, Coachella, etc. Daniela was seen in the medical tent at Coachella multiple times by multiple people and still danced on it and now she's becoming kinda stiff and now suddenly something came up as "scheduling" Too scared to say that one of the girls got injured or that Daniela's condition got worse? wouldn't be surprised; they got her doing 3 or 4? Dumb dance challenges in korea with her damn injury when they had 4 other members who could've done it not only that, but when watching the whole behind the scenes and journey thing with Coachella, they just 'casually' mention they basically all got 2 hours of sleep but it's 'fine' not only that but it reminds of the clip of Manon in the car reading their schedule and then being shocked by it because they have so much to do not only that, but they just take the slander for everything and the company always post specific members based on who has a scandal (for example:Megan's current scandal and sudden she's being posted so much) they use hate as promo and don't care if their artist get hurt in the process. But anyway, this was my rant about Katseye being basically promoted as a pedo fantasy and used as sex dolls/slaves submitted by /u/Hungry_Economics_506 to r/katseyesnark_ [link] [comments]

instagram vs ✨reality✨: 🌼the Coachella edition 🌼
hi snarkerinos 🫶 this was not a planned post but i am having… them pesky intersectional feminist thoughts again!!! i watched Weekend 2 last night while suffering (1) horrific fate of being a woman (period pains 💔 RIP) and thought: oh perfect!!!!!! i can make this worse. 🕯️ a tiny disclaimer before we begin remember; this is not body shaming. we are not tearing down Sabrina’s natural body. we are documenting a very specific pattern of editing/facetuning that keeps showing up across her content. and i’m gonna be real for a second; it actually matters that people point this out. i’m 30. i’ve had enough time (and unfortunately enough exposure to this industry, I was behind the scenes in it) to understand how these images are constructed. younger girls/consumers haven’t. and i constantly see young women absolutely destroying themselves mentally trying to look like something that quite literally does not exist in reality. (we also are seeing this with men as well via looksmaxxing/steroid abuse/peptide injectables). You must remember. This is an industry. They are selling: an image: a fantasy, a story, a feeling, a product. and that product is often you feeling like you’re not enough without it. This doesn’t mean that all art is inherently bad. A lot of people love it for the CRAFTSMANSHIP of music/art/fashion/production/singing alone. Some people truly do it for the love of The Game. At the end of the day, you get to choose: what you consume, what you believe, and what you measure yourself against. but you should at the very least know what you’re looking at. that’s your power. so let’s look at it, together. it’s essentially the same performance, same outfits, the same night of the week(end), so why and how TF does her body keep changing? i pulled from: her own insta, livestream footage (Tiny Mod and I had a lil’ kiki), some fan videos, backstage / candid shots, posted / recent promo images in similar outfits; and once you line them up… it gets very obvious very fast. (here’s what I see, would love to know what you guys see/think too!) her “hourglass”/her proportions are NEVER consistent in motion (actual footage): her hips = narrower, more vertical. glutes = sit naturally with gravity, thighs = normal contact, normal shape. She looks fine, that’s not the point! in her posted images: waist = pulled in tighter, her hips = pushed outward a lot of curves = rounder, more exaggerated. It’s same outfit. But it’s somehow different anatomy? 👯♀️movement vs stills tells on everything when she’s walking the stage, you see her weight shifts naturally. curves change depending on stance (she is also wearing heels so that provides a fair amount of incline for arches to be created; arches have curves.) the body looks… human. however when she’s posted: her silhouette becomes 100% symmetrical, curves seem to stay “perfect” on both sides. everything reads like a template aka very Barbie doll “fit this exact mold ONLY). Dad Mod was telling me he HATES the “doll arm” thing she often does. Real bodies don’t stay balanced mid-movement. But edits do! the clothes are literally snitching on her 🧶 watch the: lace patterns, corset seams, hemlines in some shots they sit normally. in others they stretch/warp around the hips. fabric doesn’t randomly change shape. something underneath did. my husband and I also noticed they purposely made her dress for House Tour Weekend 2 shorter (add to the other host of things they did to distract from Sabrina’s shitty behavior and bad vocals.) In the white bead outfit, you can also see her rib flare; which looks extremely entrenched, caused by sucking in/not using your diaphragm, wearing clothes that are restrictive/way too tight/corset abuse. 🔁 back angles = biggest giveaway from behind (video): hip width is more subtle, waist-to-hip transition is softer and her proportions stay consistent frame to frame. in edited shots: hips appear wider, glutes look lifted/rounded, the curve starts higher and more dramatically (they often shoot her from below to make her look like a tall THICC Amazonian woman, but at the same time try and play like she’s a small sexy tiny uwu little sexy girl, with no weight to her, that you can also throw around like a sex object?) You can’t fake physics across movement. and it’s always in (One 😉) direction. no matter the angle, lighting, or outfit, the edits push toward: smaller waist, wider hips and smoother thighs (and armpits). A more “perfect” hourglass!! ⌛️ These are not random touch-ups by stylists or lighting/angles. This a targeted calculated constructed persona. Sabrina just happens to be the one in the mainstream using it right now to sell her products (her music, merch, concerts, etc.) 🎯 and here’s the part that’s actually insane: she already fits the aesthetic they’re going for and they’re still editing her into something else. the livestream gave “human body”, and the insta posts gave “template that is impossible by definition to fulfill”. It’s not just lighting and angles. It shows a consistency in editing for Sabrina for Sabrina’s team; vs the blatant inconsistency in reality. The outfits stayed the same. The performance stayed the same. Minus the Monologue (yes, they did it again!) where I couldn’t hear Geena over the feedback of her own saliva into the microphone every time she spoke, and Madonna showing up like Sabrina’s OF dominatrix Pokémon Master grandma visiting from Violet City (and I LOVE Madonna’s music 😭, let That Lady have fun at the music festival), only one thing* *kept changing…. submitted by /u/Interesting-Ice8588 to r/sabrinacarpentersnark [link] [comments]

Taylor Swift Coachella Concept
What if Taylor Swift headlined Coachella? An unrealistic scenario for many reasons but what would a Taychella look like? Here is my concept for her set. Feel free to share yours in the comments! Concept/Idea: The aim of the show is to showcase all of the eras of Taylor’s career through her most recognizable hits representing all music genres and aesthetics. Stage Design: The main stage features a complex LED stair system with different levels and platforms that move and allow for impressive visuals and choreography. There is also a long catwalk which is Taylor's signature stage element. Setlist: The show is divided in six distinct acts with transitions and outfit changes. Act I: Miss Americana The show starts with Taylor narrating important events in her life while videos from every era are shown on the big screen. There is a mashup of many songs similar to the Eras Tour opening medley. The opening introduction ends with an inspiring quote about rising to fame and being a superstar and the first song begins. Dancers appear on stage and the show starts with (1) Style. The visuals of the act can be described as sunset, golden hour, glitter and sparkle with a city skyline backdrop. The next song is (2) Cruel Summer followed by (3) Miss Americana And The Heartbreak Prince when the stage turns to a pageant and Taylor is crowned "Miss Americana". For (4) You Need To Calm Down a glowing heart prop would be used and the song would end with Taylor in it. Act II: The Country Princess The transition includes footage of younger Taylor when she was starting her career as an ambitious country artist. We hear her dreams, aspirations and hopes. The stage transforms to an old castle with walls attached to the stairs. The act begins with a short mashup of (5) Fearless and Our Song played on the iconic sparkly guitar. After that she plays (6) You Belong With Me and (7) Love Story, her first big hits in the true Fearless aesthetic. Another guitar moment follows, this time joined by her entire band to play (8) Long Live in the koi fish guitar. She gives a short speech about her appreciation for her fans and crew. Act III: The Painted Villain The fairytale era is over and the castle burns down. Newspaper articles accusing Taylor of bad actions flash on the screen. Not only from the 2016 incident but the recent drama that surrounds her. The stage visuals show black and red metal structures and dancers wear modern bold costumes. (9) ...Ready For It? opens the set in a heavily choreographed performances on the platforms. The next songs are (10) Elizabeth Taylor and (11) I Knew You Were Trouble with a lot of choreography and intense visuals. The first special guest is Kendrick Lamar and they perform (12) Bad Blood together live for the first time (swapped for I Don't Wanna Live Forever with Zayn for Weekend 2). The set closes with an empowering message as Taylor gets back on her throne at the palace during (13) Look What You Made Me Do while the dancers try to crawl up the stairs to reach her. Act IV: The Reckless Romantic The next set is dedicated to Taylor’s first pop era. For the most intricate set the stage transforms to a luxurious mansion with real car, bedroom, dining table, living room props all on rolling platforms that can be moved quickly. Dancers appear first and explore the house. Taylor sings (14) We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together in a chaotic performance resembling a youthful party. The mashup of (15) 22 and New Romantics continues the narrative of carefree partying and celebrating. During (16) Blank Space though the mansion gets destroyed. Female dancers and Taylor make a mess by sending away the men and tearing apart the props similar to the Blank Space music video. The final song of the set is (17) Shake It Off which secures extra time to transfer the various props backstage. Act V: The Sophisticated Poet For this act the pace slows down and Taylor showcases her slow but still beautiful ballads and folk songs. The transition includes a narration by Taylor where she explains the importance of storytelling and songwriting in her art. The iconic Folklore cabin is brought on stage and a forest setting with trees is created. Taylor starts with a mashup of (18) Delicate and Lover on piano while a couple dances in the cabin under a dim light. The beautiful calm tone continues in the performance of (19) Wildest Dreams and the medley of (20) Cardigan, August and Willow which starts on top of the cabin. The second surprise guest is Post Malone for a performance of (21) Fortnight (swapped for Florida!!! with Florence Welch for Weekend 2). The sections ends with a haunting performance of (22) All Too Well which doesn't include the full 10 minutes but contains elements and lyrics of the longer version. Taylor makes a speech about the re-recording project and asks for fans to turn on their flashlights. Act VI: The Diamond Superstar The final set starts with a narration of Taylor describing her fears and struggles as a showgirl but ultimately embraces and learns to enjoy her stardom. She feels unapologetically confident as a superstar and is ready to show us her final and true era. The set opens with (23) Anti-Hero where a dancer completely dressed in black covering their face "sabotages" Taylor repeatedly, pushing her down but she finds the strength to fight them. In the end, through a clever camera shot, Taylor's shadow merges with the dancer who is the anti-hero, a dark side of herself. The next performances are full of modern glamour, sparkle and showgirl imagery. (24) The Fate Of Ophelia and (25) Opalite are grand performances with feathers, diamonds and sparkles. The show closes with (26) Bejeweled, the ultimate pop, glamorous, sparkly song to end the show with high energy. The setlist includes 26 songs which is a bit more than most headlining artists' sets but this was created just for fun! Finished the series so here’s my thoughts
Preface: I‘m a newer player and played the games in reverse because that’s what made most sense to me since I started with Veilguard. I‘ve only dabbled in the books and comics, so this is mainly for the games. I’m also not delving into the DLCs but they may be included without specifically mentioning them. Warning for spoilers. Without further ado, enjoy my brain vomit Narrative: DAO: Classic story of betrayal in politics. I like seeing cutscenes of Loghain’s side while my character and her party are traveling between towns to show insight of the plot advancing on his side vs just sitting around and waiting for her. The story starts off strong in the Circle of Magi and my poor girl just wanted to do good things and she’s already been betrayed in the Fade, then by her friend, then she leaves the circle and gets discriminated against at every opportunity. She may not leave the world better but she can leave it worse and have others fix it after she makes her heroic act of sacrifice to keep King Alistair alive +3 DA2: Probably the weakest link. It was good but very small scale, since it all mostly took place in Kirkwall, and went from immigration to mages vs Templars. My girl was mostly rude and sarcastic, so not very “hero-like”, but very passionate about her heritage as a mage. And then Anders and Orsino messed it up at the end! smdh +1 DAI: I really enjoyed the story, especially since my character was atheist, so he was just thrown into a role for a god he doesn’t believe in — not only that, but he’s from the Dales, and thats not even *his* people’s god — and expected to save Thedas in His name. my guy did not care what people thought, so that led to some funny instances. And then it turns out it wasn’t even Andraste, it was Solas? And my poor guy couldn’t catch a break because his rift mark started going haywire and exploding, killing him multiple times? And Solas of all people, decides to save his pawn by cutting my guy’s arm off? Chaotic story, I love it +4 DAV: Classic story of a nobody chosen to be the hero — but not by fate, no, my girl got chosen by a guy that likes to write stories in his free time. Varric was probably itching to fulfill this trope for his next book, while, of course, needing to stop Solas. I was honestly thrilled to be able to play as a Qunari! Though I was a little surprised there weren’t restrictions like DAO or even comments on her race? I guess by the time Bull was around, Qunari were more accepted? Some of the writing was a little iffy at times or and I wish the game allowed me a bit more weight to even small choices, but I still enjoyed the story for what it was +2 Characters: DAO: There’s definitely a diverse array of characters, which I do find interesting, and I do like some of the banter, but some characters I just don’t really vibe with and because there’s about 2 options for each type of class, I’ll either pick the other character in the class, pick a different class (depending on my needs) or go with my dog. I romanced Alistair and Zevran but my girl chose Zevran since there was no chance for her to stay with Alistair as a Circle Mage. I’m still feeling around about the characters because there’s some I know I don’t like as much and there’s a lot that are in a grey area for me where I don’t dislike them but I’m not sure I like them? +1 DA2: I loved switching out companions in this game! My mains were Fenris and Isabella, but I loved switching between all the different characters (RIP to the siblings, I didn’t know I could’ve saved Carver if I brought Anders, so my girl’s whole family died). I loved the character interactions happening in quests, and in banter, and the companion stories were really interesting. I did a rivalmance with Fenris with my girl as a blood mage and that was phenomenal. I loved being able to disagree on things, since my girl was pro-mage. It was really refreshing to have an opposing view and not entirely destroy the relationship. And having him set their differences aside and fight for the mages alongside my girl was chefs kiss to me +4 DAI: I had such a hard time connecting with most of the companions in this game. I kept Cass, Ironbull, and Dorian in my party at all times and only switched them out if I needed Varric for lockpicking. I already knew Solas, so I had predetermined I didn’t like him, but I still spoke with him — I really liked how he painted giant murals on his walls in Skyhold as the story progressed. I loved Josie, Leliana, and Cullen and was sad I couldn’t spend more time with them. I romanced Dorian and it was kind of silly because he kept deflecting, but there were a few times I had to pause and wonder if he was actually being serious or partially serious and sit with the thoughts. All that said, the interaction between companions and characters was appealing and kept me on my toes even if it had nothing to do with my guy +2 DAV: Loved most of the companions, but I loved Neve and Lucanis more, and because I could only have 2 companions in my party, I couldn’t see as much banter with others. I absolutely loved seeing the companions sit around and hanging out with each other without my girl and feeling more alive, but I felt like it was a little weird I had to mediate so much. I romanced Neve and Lucanis but chose Neve in the end, and I love seeing her reluctance to fall in love, her fear of burning someone else she cares about, and breaking down her walls little by little +3 Combat: DAO: I don’t entirely understand the combat all the time in this game because my for is a mage but she also dual wields knives, and fighting is fine for the most part, but set her up against another mage, and she and everyone in her party instantly perishes. And it’s not even that she doesn’t have powers or she doesn’t use them because she does, I’m just wondering if maybe she’s a little under level, but if she uses a bomb, then she can crowd control +1 DA2: Being a blood mage was god awful for my girl because she kept nearly insta-dying, but maybe that’s just a Me Issue. Fenris, my fav, my darling, my love, kept zipping across the map to save her, defending her from most enemies (except sometimes he didn’t make it in time and she died, RIP) the dungeons being copycats of each other was a little annoying but the good thing is I could never get lost cause it’s just the same one as the last five and I know all the nooks and crannies +2 DAI: The combat set up I had was chaotic as all hell. My poor guy kept sacrificing himself but because Dorian was a healing Necromancer, he kept reviving my guy, and Dorian had this special skill where he gets possessed when he dies and when that possession leaves, he auto-revives the whole party and someone just has to revive him so he can do it all again when it inevitably happens again. Their dynamic duo kept my party alive enough through big fights, especially during the fight with the Thaig +4 DAV: This was definitely the easiest, and my girl had a lot of cool necrotic powers as a warrior with a shield and sword. I didn’t entirely understand the power system since she probably would’ve never been able to have powers as a warrior if it was more defined, but throwing her shield and one hitting an enemy and having it explode into a skull wraith that one-hits another enemy, and then dominoes on on all the rest while she can sit back and loot chests, is very satisfying on a powerful-level. I also liked the fact I could do combo attacks with my companions +3 Side Quests: DAO: I really like that the side quests revolved around the world. Like castless dwarves asking for help because they were seen less than, found King Cailan’s body and recollected his stuff from the battlefield to pay respects, occasional ambushes from Loghain’s men but they each had a mini cutscene with a tidbit of story, so it’s not just fighting +4 DA2: The side quests were nice because it was easy to multitask, but I cannot for the life of me remember any of them being significant enough for me to remember, other than some guy lost his wife but he was kind of a dick, and then it turned out a blood mage was collecting women to recreate his partner, but I think that was probably actually part of the main quest since it dealt with my girl’s mom +2 DAI: Hated the fetch quests—or rather, the amount of them. Shards and Constellations were fine, but again, there were so much that it felt overwhelming +1 DAV: The quests in this also relate to the story, which is nice. Especially when it’s related to the choice between Minrathous and Treviso and you have to help rebuild the damages done. And there’s a bunch of quests related to the factions and The Fade. Some of the quest layout is a little weird, like the whole Mythal quests where you see the memories and then everyone’s sitting around to talk about it +3 Art Style: DAO: outfits were really good but were very generic (except Morrigan, she looks like she’s going to Coachella and I kinda hate it, ngl) The nice thing is that you knew exactly what everyone was just by looking at them (grey warden, circle mage, Templar, etc) but also there was no individuality, or at least very little of it. Races were fine, I find it funny that elves were just tinier humans with pointed ears when there’s not a drastic height difference in the other games — I know this was the original, so it probably should’ve stayed like that in the other games, but I personally like it better when elves are either normal human height or taller, but that’s just a me thing). Character design was kind of garbage but it’s an older game, so I don‘t expect it to be phenomena. I was still able to make my girl look cute +1 DA2: I loved that each companion had their own signature outfit, but I also was a little sad I couldn‘t change their outfits to help power them up even more. But when it comes to each character’s design, most were okay (hated Merril’s exposed pits. I understand the general idea for movement, but I hate the way it looks) Fenris’s design is the best, but I could also be biased since he’s my obvious fav and I’m drawn to the feather details and clawed gauntlets in other media, but also his lyrium marks were really interesting. All of that said, the player character customization is also garbage in this game. I ended up using the preset version of Hawke and made some adjustments to make her more “my character” and she turned out cute too +2 DAI: Takes the cake! Part of it is graphics, for me, but the other part is consistency in types of outfits that makes the character feel alive in their world and also that each character can wear the same outfit different, and you can dye their outfits so there’s more customization, and it’s just fantastic. The player character customization wasn’t the greatest, but it was tons better than the first two games (which is to be expected as games advance) +4 DAV: Even though the graphics are great, my two biggest concerns are the outfits being inconsistent with the world. Neve having a Noir themed outfit — which is cute, but doesn’t make sense for the world, to me. Maybe it’s just the hat that’s throwing me off. And then there’s Emmerich who’s wearing a fancy suit-like outfit — which looks nice, but again, I’m not sure if it makes sense in the world. It’s these types of things that make the game feel modernized when it’s still meant to be a medieval themed game. And my second concern being the evolution of Qunari, and it’s not just this game either, Bull has a vastly different look than the Qunari from DA2 — and that’s coming from someone who was ecstatic to play a Qunari. Those aside, I love the idea that each faction has a different outfit style and color scheme. I do kind of wish I had more clothing options for my companions though. Player character customization was phenomenal and insanely detailed! I also liked that I could change things in the middle of the game, and my personal favorite was changing my girl’s hairstyle to reflect her emotional state throughout the story (aka getting a butch cut when nothing was going to plan vs styling it real cute when she got to go on a date) +3 World Design: DAO: There’s honestly a lot of really interesting environments, and the only thing that holds it back is that because it’s an older game, some things were more simplified +2 DA2: Love Kirkwall. Love that there’s some variety between the different parts, but the small scale of the locations involved, and the repetition, gives it the lowest score for me +1 DAI: I’m in love with so much of the environments in this game, like wow! It’s all so diverse and different and beautiful +3 DAV: This game gets the best partly due to graphics allowing to make much more complex environment, but also being able to see how unique different parts of Thedas are and how the cultures of the factions intertwine with their respective regions +4 Replay Value: DAO: Because each origin story has a drastic different start to the story, and because choices weigh more in this game, I’d say this game has the best replay value. +4 DA2: For me, the replay value is based more on the companions and the type of relationships you can have with them and how you can influence their stories and whether or not they’ll betray you for the final battle +2 DAI: I think there probably won’t be as many changes for this game upon replaying. I’m sure if I played a religious human, my character would’ve been respected much better than my poor guy who was getting disrespected at every turn for being an elf +1 DAV: Not quite a different origin story, but I do like that you can choose from a bunch of different factions. My girl’s faction was the Antivan Crows and I loved Viago and Teia and ziplining across Dragon Age Venice- I mean Treviso. I watched someone play a Shadow Dragon Rook and while the story is pretty much the same, I feel like there’s a shift to the side quests to accommodate which faction you choose +3 Results (adding up the scores): DAO: 16 DA2: 14 DAI: 19 DAV: 21 I do think that Veilguard was my favorite, despite so many people disliking it. It had a lot of good scores across the board. I do think though that some of my scores would change if each of the games were on the same level graphics-wise. I know I came in very late, so I couldn’t appreciate the nostalgia. But overall, I enjoyed the series! submitted by /u/Accomplished-Lab4412 to r/dragonage [link] [comments]

Harvest Rock 2026 Line-up Speculation Thread
Welcome to the Official Harvest Rock Lineup Speculation Thread! *Last update: June 2nd @ 11:00am ACST* Harvest Rock people! We're back!!! We're very happy to be here with you all for Harvest Rock 2026, and this year we are kicking this business off nice & early to run the full range of emotions between now & the eventual line-up announce date - some would say it's nuts to go up this early, but I actually have a sneaky suspicion that the line-up will be announced earlier this year - just call it a hunch for now. Sound off below with your wildest guesses & insider leaks, and we’ll see what kind of madness we can come up with this year! Some notes on the artists below: The assumption is that there will be some repeats (though not typically from the most recent edition), and artists already touring on other festivals at the time. For the pool of potential artists, we’re looking at multi-day larger Festivals run by Live Nation around the world (co-owners of Kicks Entertainment), but specifically those which are taking place in the lead up to, and post Harvest Rock - and artists who are appearing multiple times at those events. This festival pool includes Reading / Leeds; Lollapalooza / Lollapalooza Berlin; Sound on Sound; Ohana Festival & sister festival, Strummingbird (shoutout Shaboozey - IYKYK). I will use my discretion to determine the validity of a source/rumor through my own contacts - provide suitable evidence if you strongly disagree. While we wait for official dates - my best guesstimate is that this year's edition will be taking place on October 31st & November 1st. There's info out there that it's anywhere from late October through to mid-November, so there's some pretty big gaps in tours to account for currently. Away we go! CONFIRMED *Official confirmation directly from Kicks Entertainment / Live Nation / Harvest Rock, the artist, or any other related entity:* Nada, Nix, Nothing! THAT'S AN INTERESTING GAP *Either currently touring elsewhere in Australia / New Zealand, or clear gaps in their international schedule at the time* Lily Allen: Right from the beginning, u/Longjumping_Arm_112 was adamant that Lily Allen was playing HR this year, and lo & behold, with the only realistic date left being October 31st, it sure looks like they were onto something… Death Cab For Cutie: One of my absolute favourite shows ever was seeing DCFC at The Gov back in 2006 during their "Plans" world tour - one of my favourite albums of all time, and an amazing live show. World tour starts at Outside Days in May, but officially kicks off in July - current dates through to Early October, due to wrap up the European leg in Paris on 3/10. Now confirmed to be touring Australia, with dates in the Eastern states mid-November - *if* HR is indeed moving back to Mid-November DCFC would be a no-brainer given they are touring with Secret Sounds, however the routing for a weekend show would be strange - Sydney Thursday the 12th, Melbourne Friday the 13th & then Adelaide on the 14th before heading to Brisbane on the 15th? Hey, I'm good with it though! Tame Impala: Yup - those dates are awfully close to Harvest - but are we really having not one, but two major Frontier Touring artists on this bill? Will be interesting to see if this pans out given the stage set-up (at least internationally), but are Live Nation going to let a Frontier act headline Harvest? My guess would be no.... Hilary Duff: It's always a bit strange when Adelaide is the *only* missing city from a tour (apologies to Tas & NT - but... c'mon), but it sure is interesting when the only extra shows added don't clash with a potential HR appearance. Forget what you might think about fit etc. - this tour sold out FAST - when I jumped on to look at the Perth tickets, there were 112,000 people in the queue for a 15,000 capacity venue. La Roux: If Hilary winds up being here, you can guarantee we've got a Vines Stage headline act ready to go - even perhaps if she doesn't... RUMORED *Speculation or near confirmation from credible sources* The Black Keys: Our sources were adamant that TBK were supposed to be on the bill last year along with Vampire Weekend. Unless Vampire Weekend make a one off exclusive make-up appearance (possible, but their recent tour has finished), a better chance might be Pat & Dan as they kick off their "Peaches N' Kream" tour, which currently wraps up its NA & EU dates on October 18th. Djo: We heard a whisper from a little birdie who has passed some info our way in the past to keep an eye on Djo's tour dates - he was here for Laneway 2025, and was a big hit with the crowd, and has only continued to get bigger - is it possible this could be one of our exclusives? Raye: OK - call me cynical, Raye doesn't scream HR to me - however, in the last day alone (24/3), I have heard from not 1, not 2, but 3 different (so far unproven I will add) sources that Raye is one of your *exclusive* HR headliners for 2026. Don't get me wrong - you will be hard pressed to find not only a bigger name at the moment, let alone one who has the absolute live chops to deliver an epic set, and I'd love to see her again after Laneway '24 - but is she the fit for HR? LOGICAL *Fits in with the general Harvest Rock theme (so far), and has gaps shown in their current schedule which may fit the dates* Boy & Bear: The Sydney group have just announced a massive tour of Australia between July and November 14th - with S.A. being a noticeable absence. Would be a great fit for HR. Violent Soho: Chalk this one up to a big maybe, but it seems like VS are getting back together after a 4 year hiatus if Blink-182 frontman Mark Hoppus is to be believed... Now confirmed to be back together, and no Adelaide dates on their tour so far... Alanis Morissette: The Canadian icon has been on the rumour list for virtually every edition of HR so far for good reason - she 100% fits the nostalgiac headliner bill, and she puts on an epic live show. Current dates wrap in July. Moby: The Vine stage had a shift towards Dance music last year that paid off big time, attracting a new demo to the weekend - for a festival that has had some "outta nowhere" additions in the past, may we suggest someone who hasn't played an Australian show since 2012, or an Adelaide gig since 2003? Father John Misty: One of my personal biggest hopes for the 2026 line-up - it's been way too long since Laneway 2018 - we need Josh on the card this year. Sheryl Crow: I heard a rumour not too long ago that Sheryl was potentially going to be part of the 2026 Strummingbird line-up. If that's the case, I'd just about guarantee her for Adelaide - and I'd be a very happy guy. Now confimed to not be on Strummingbird, Sheryl's dates are still open, and I've still got fingers crossed for an Australia return one day... LCD Soundsystem: *Sigh* - I hesitate to put them on here, but this was one of the acts that was rumoured to pull out of the festival last minute last year, so there might be the possibility of a make-up appearance. It's a toss-up as to who is more likely to cancel a tour date first, Morrissey or LCD Soundsystem, so cross your fingers big time - because they are amazing live. The Killers: The Las Vegas outfit have been linked with Harvest Rock rumours for the better part of 3 years now, and put on the kind of incredible hit heavy setlist that screams Headliner - could '26 be the year? The Cure: The Cure have been on our wishlist since the very beginning of the fest, but unlike last year, they are hitting the road *hard* at the moment, playing almost exclusively festival gigs worldwide. If ever there was an act that screamed "nostalgiac headliner" - The Cure have to be up there with the biggest names. Avril Lavigne: OK - we're just manifesting with Avril at this point, but did you see the greatest hits tour that she hit the road with last year? 2026 marks 21 years since Avril last toured Australia - festival gods - it's time. Bad//Dreems: A big part of the first HR, Bad//Dreems are not only putting on the amazing looking "Gather Sounds" in April, but they're about to start touring to promote the new album due out in March - "Ultra Dundee". West Thebarton: Speaking of Gather Sounds - I'm embarassingly late to West Thebarton, but wow - if we're looking to once again give some love to local artists, this would be a great addition. Middle Kids: It's insanity that Middle Kids are yet to get a slot at HR - Hannah Joy's voice is insane live. A band that has not yet gotten the kind of attention they deserve. Empire of the Sun: If we're looking for a pure "wishlist booking", look no further. Luke and Nick have kept us waiting for a proper local festival run, the timing for a sunset slot feels cosmically correct. Amyl and the Sniffers: Every festival needs a bit of chaos. Amy Taylor is a force of nature, and the Sniffers are currently one of the biggest live draws in the world. Expect a mosh pit that stretches all the way to the food trucks. The 1975: Matty and the boys have a new album on the way, and they're known to love touring Australia - fingers crossed here. St. Vincent: Annie Clark is one of the truly great live performers of our generation. She’s currently shredding her way through a global tour, and would be a much appreciated addition to the HR archives. Arctic Monkeys: The kings of the Sheffield indie-scene have been linked with HR rumours for years. They’ve reached that "legacy act" status where every set is a life-changing experience, and honestly, seeing Alex Turner in a suit under the Adelaide lights is exactly what 2026 needs. The xx: It’s been a minute, hasn't it? While Romy, Jamie, and Oliver have all been crushing their solo projects over the last 6 years, the announcement that they had signed on for a slot at Coachella this year has fans very excited for potential new music & touring. Kaytranada: The Vine stage shift towards dance music was a great move last year, and Kaytra is the gold standard for that "groove-heavy" afternoon vibe. He’s the kind of act that pulls a massive, diverse crowd—perfect for keeping the energy up between the indie heavyweights. Harvey Sutherland: Speaking of grooves, Harvey is a local treasure. His live disco-funk setups are legendary, and if we’re looking to support the best of the Australian electronic scene, he’s a non-negotiable addition to the roster. The Beths: New Zealand’s finest power-pop export. Every time they play, they win over a thousand new fans with those tight harmonies and clever lyrics. They are long, long overdue for a major HR look-in. Alice Skye: A truly haunting and beautiful songwriter. Alice could stop a riot in its tracks with just a few notes. If we want a moment of genuine connection on the bill, she’s the one. Angus & Julia Stone: Part of the inaugural HR, Angus & Julia drew a big crowd on the day, and despite the rain at the time, played a breathtaking set that we'd love to see get another run. OUT *Confirmed as not playing by the band / conflicting tour dates / specific info* Massive Attack: Returning for the first time in 16 years, playing the East Coast in what Frontier have advertised as "exclusive shows". Post Malone: Safe to say with the dates announced for Posty's solo shows, that Strummingbird / Harvest will very much be seperate events this year. Sons Of The East: Might still be a chance where Kicks has a relationship with them, but Strummingbird very much its own thing this year. Bailey Zimmerman: As above.... Jack Johnson: From what I'm told, despite the timing (and the fact that Adelaide is the only major city missing from the tour), JJ is not on the cards for HR this year. Hayley Williams: I'm very hopeful that we get Hayley out here for her current tour (could be a chance for Laneway), but it won't be at HR - dates are now commited through to late November in North & South America. Spacey Jane: Confirmed for their very own headlining tour later this year including a stop at The Drive in Adelaide. Smashing Pumpkins: Billy & Co. have just annnounced their "The Rats in a Cage Tour" celebrating 30 years of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - no dates for Australia yet, but it's safe to rule them out as a headliner opportunity given their US dates run through Mid-November at current. Sparks: The legendary duo are returning to Australia mid-year to play shows on the East coast. Ben Kweller: Tour dates in June put Ben out of the running for HR this year. Alex Warren: The "Finding Family On The Road" tour finds Alex playing the AEC this September. Melanie C: It's a shame Mel C's November dates weren't a little earlier in the month - she's touring under the Live Nation umbrella in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne & Sydney. She would have made for a fun nostalgia act on the day, but will be playing Berlin on the 30/10. A Perfect Circle: Playing The Drive (!) this December. Silversun Pickups: Playing The Gov this June. Gorillaz: Tour dates in NA have knocked them out of the running. Iron Maiden: Dates are *so close* but at least we're still getting them in Adelaide - November 11th at the AEC. Megadeth: Supporting Iron Maiden on their Aus tour. Mental As Anything: Aus legends are playing The Gov this June. My Chemical Romance: Playing the Hollywood Bowl on the anticipated weekend - and I would put a *lot* of money on them being Good Things headliners in 2026. Men I Trust: Playing Australian dates in November, but sadly a bit too far removed from a likely HR (and Adelaide) spot. Foo Fighters: They're coming back, but once again, not part of HR - they're playing at Coopers Stadium this November 17th. Zara Larsson: Playing Adelaide on October 18th. Of Monsters And Men: Playing shows around Australia this May - but sadly not in Adelaide. J. Cole: Playing the Aussie special (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne) in November, but dates are a little too far apart for a potential HR appearance. HEALTH: Not really candidates for the HR crowd - just more of a reminder that they're playing The Gov on September 25th... More to come… Latest Updates Boy & Bear >>> LOGICAL Massive Attack >>> OUT Jack Johnson >>> OUT Hayley Williams >>> moved to OUT Spacey Jane >>> moved to OUT Smashing Pumpkins >>> OUT Post Malone >>> moved to OUT Sons Of The East >>> moved to OUT Bailey Zimmerman >>> moved to OUT Death Cab For Cutie >>> moved to THAT'S AN INTERESTING GAP Keep that good intel coming! From The Guardian: the Coachella-fication of the US Open is here to stay
Maybe I'm just getting cranky in my old age, but it seems like every year there are more and more celebs that come to the US Open to wear a cute outfit and have their picture taken, and it seems like it pulls more and more focus away from the tennis. I liked seeing which famous people seemed to actually like tennis (or sports in general) in the stands, but it's getting out of hand-not just with celebrities but with the ever-increasing crowds as well.. The commentary at The Guardian starts off with this: Every August, the US Open rolls into Queens with its ever-expanding rituals of consumption. Fans don’t just buy in, they perform it: the $23 Honey Deuce held aloft for Instagram, the $40 lobster roll posted before the first serve, the $100 caviar-topped chicken nuggets bought as much for the flex as the flavor. The tennis has never been the cheapest day out, but lately the sticker shock feel less like a barrier than the point. The price tags are festival markers, proof that what was once a tournament with posh accents has morphed into a cultural happening. In what seems like a remarkably short time, New York’s major has become less sporting event than aspirational brand. The final grand slam tournament of the season, which concludes Sunday with a mouth-watering men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, has never completely shied from its tony roots as part of the New York “social season”, but its latest evolution has taken it past a major sporting event into a festival economy. The sport is still there – highlight-reel shots, lung-busting rallies, after-midnight thrillers – but the real main draw are cocktails priced like small bond issues, influencer blocs in branded bucket hats and a dating show filmed courtside. The spectacle isn’t Sinner’s thunderbolt serve or Aryna Sabalenka’s power-baseline game but whether Chloe Malle is Anna Wintour’s plus-one or Kareem Rahma of Subway Takes posts his courtside selfie before or after the Honey Deuce runs dry. That libation, once just a cute themed lemonade and vodka in a souvenir cup, has mutated into an inflation-defying fetish object with its own merch line. Entire kiosks now sell Honey Deuce shirts and trucker hats in pastel colorways, so you can broadcast your melon-ball allegiance long after the hard-won hangover fades. It’s less a drink than a franchise, an alcoholic Funko Pop, proof that you didn’t just attend the Open: you consumed it, posted it, stacked it, wore it and recycled it into personal branding. The Open, known as the US national championships until 1968, has been staged every year since 1881, but it’s defining feature over the past decade or so has been sprawl: temporal, spatial, financial and, increasingly, attention-economical. Starting this year, the tournament expanded its footprint by starting on a Sunday rather than Monday, stretching the long-familiar 14-day format into 15, or effectively 20 if you count the controversial, purist-rankling mixed doubles event the week before. It is no longer just two weeks in late August and September straddling Labor Day, but a near-month-long residency in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, calibrated to command not just your time and money but your feed. The prize fund for this year’s event climbed to an eye-watering $90m (£66.6m), the highest single-event purse in tennis history and a 20% jump from 2024. On the ground the United States Tennis Associaton has gone maximalist, rubber-stamping an $800m renovation of Arthur Ashe Stadium (separate from the recent three-year transformation that expanded the square-footage of the property). A $250m Player Performance Center is going up alongside it, kitted out to house 2,800 athletes and entourages, all part of the global arms race in sporting infrastructure. Meeting the luxe standard of Wimbledon is no longer enough; the pressure now is keeping up with Indian Wells and Madrid too. Here's a link to the entirety of the commentary: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/sep/07/us-open-influencers-coachella-prices-money Just wondering what people think.. submitted by /u/AnOldBlur to r/tennis [link] [comments]

Kpop Men Just Aren't Dressing Like Horrible Little Freaks Anymore, Or The REAL Y2K: To Pleather, Maximalism, and Over the Top Matching Outfits, With Love
We used to be a proud country. Hair was vertical or plastered over a kpop man's eyes. Eyeliner was an inch thick. Everything was reflective. Colorful skinny jeans. Matching prince costumes. The sheer unbearable hatred of what they were wearing fueled a generation of dramatic men. It was beyond words. Because if there was one thing the 2nd/early 3rd gen of kpop understood, it was that the glory of the game (kpop is inherently maximalist) is to be just so much. or, riddle me this - if Y2K is trendy again, why is nobody dressing like Tri-Angle, hmm? we're just not calling men Maximum Changmin anymore and making them go out in public like That. Before we begin, I must make some things clear: anyone who lived through the 2000s and was vaguely conscious knows that real Y2K fashion would kill a TikTok eboy instantly because so much of that shit was just so ugly Y2K can be maximalist but something being maximalist is NOT inherently Y2K bad maximalist styling is out there! a good stylist knows how to dig into the concept and make everything about from costume to set design to song come together or like, it was 2011 and we were all just on something I'm literally just throwing together all the OTT fashion I miss and those still fighting the good fight into this post sorry I clickbaited you about Y2K I unironically, hand-on-heart, dead-serious, think all styling in this post is good And you can quote me on that! And now, the OTT styling we DESERVED: TVXQ, Tri-Angle: the Mother. the OG. the legend herself. every photograph of them in normal lighting is like getting punched in the face. the feathered eyeliner, the lowslung belts with their names on them, Changmin' hair, the way it's so cohesive and futuristic because they are the Rising Gods of the East.... can Jaejoong stop his 4th gen boy styling mid-life crisis and start growing his hair out again also here's a beloved ancient photograph of Yunjae date to a Shrek event Rain, It's Raining: why are you as a man wearing slutty low-rise jeans 2006 Changmin rat-tail and plastic outfits that's all TVXQ, Choosey Lover 3rd Tour: skintight silver reflective jumpsuits with sex harnesses, knee high boots, and Yunho's stupid little ponytail.....dare I say gender.... SHINee, Lucifer: the 2022 motorsports pit girl styling will never have what Lucifer had. Jonghyun's backless tops and cowboy boots, the spikes and feathers. cut-out everything. SHINee were riding beside Fast & Furious Devon Aoki while every 4th gen boy is only fit to pump her tires! beloved shaved Kibum head picture..... this one stage of 2PM's Without You + I'll Be Back.... speechless.... MBLAQ, Oh Yeah: Seungho's half-sleeve cut-out tattoo suit I want you.... every stylist from 2008-2013 just always had a pair of scissors and she was without mercy. Teen Top, Supa Luv: why have one 2nd gen bowlcut when you can give it to all of them?? B1A4, Beautiful Target: there used to be Pann posts about how B1A4's stylist was an anti. the muppet fur Jinyoung is wearing here. the glow-in-the-dark catboy looks. platinum coconut Baro. every stage was a religious experience I hope their stylist knows she changed all our lives. face suits....camp MBLAQ, Cry: the eyeliner has to be this thick again if we're bring Y2K back Nu'est, Action: they just don't dress men like this in their debut year anymore. every rip and tear in the fabric symbolized their pain. Big Bang, Fantastic Baby: that one kpop song they kept putting in videos to go "omg they dress so weird in kpop" and then YG took it to heart and now every man under that company just wears jeans and a tee shirt in everything. hate it here. EXO, MAMA: oh you thought I'd put Wolf like some cheap clown looking for a laugh, hmm? we already know Wolf absolutely fucks, we need to start talking about how MAMA's rhinestone jackets and two-toned fringes were peak 2012 realness. the infamous EXO trip to Disneyland. always one kpop man wearing the ratty white tank top. Jo Kwon, Animal: do you think everyone there understood the accessories were from BDSM Infinite, The Chaser: the girls lost it out over long-haired Sungyeol back in the day and they were right!! the floral scarf print suits, the hanging skirts and sleeveless blazers, Sungjong's transparent shorts over his pants....we lost our way when we started putting Infinite in sweaters and jeans on stage, they have to wear the custom-matchy outfits always!! Dongwoo airport fashion when kpop men wore nothing but snapbacks in every photo Boyfriend, Janus: we need the fantasy prince matching costumes that took 30 minutes to put on again.... also the silly little capes from this one Witch stage Nu'est, Sleep-Talking: their quirky boy era where they wore pajama and bohemian inspired clothes. they had Minhyun wear cut-out shirts to expose his fake tattoos. Ren's Coachella white girl headbands. Baekho didn't have eyebrows. and it still flopped!! MyName, Baby I'm Sorry: Gunwoo's skirt over jeggings, so me-coded (I don't wish to talk about it) VIXX, On & On: if you're gonna put a kpop man in matching suits, it's got to be interesting! honestly this was largely saved by the hair & makeup but i did like the suit patterning and medals HYDE black lipstick I love you SHINee, Dream Girl: no one gets kitsch like SHINee gets the kitsch. the era of the skinniest little suit pants, floral everything, short blazers, this was doing the numbers on tumblr dot com (not that i know anything about that). Taemin pencil pants I think of you often Junsu, Tarantallegra: the leopard print pointed shoulder pads suit...the red dress black over the knee leather boots and blonde emo fringe....the corset.... (also, Flower) Shinhwa, This Love: brought vogue into mainstream kpop while serving cunt in every OTT patterned suit. 100%, Beat: we were entering truly the 3rd gen era of the matching custom suits but by god did the stylists get it instead of some boring classy fits. the half-dozen belts, the leather texturing, the FANTASY ARMOR they wore on stage??? tortured fantasy men who wail, we need you back. Nu'est, Overcome but only Ren's hair. it needs it's own bulletpoint. NCT 127, Firetruck: Mark Lee is literally a belieber he will never understand how good this was Kangta, Eyes On You: there's a certain comedy in putting actual 90s idol Kangta in late 90s fashion in 2022. Time is a flat circle because if you turned this down to 144p it looks like it's from 1999. Honourable mentions Hanse (Victon), Take Over: it's so hard to be the 4th gen It Boy when you are 25 years old and debuted in the 3rd gen. love a giant over-sized fit with a bob cut, and denim on denim with wig. OnlyOneOf Junji helmet hair: it speaks for itself really CIX, Bad Dream: Korea went feral over Bae Jinyoung's tiny head and this stage said what if we put him in a stupid 2000s floppy hat to look even tinier. also Hyunsuk in a giant pucca shell necklace E'Last, Dark Dream: convinced they found a stylist who'd worked with an early 3rd gen group because their styling is straight out of 2013 fantasy cheap velvet and dollar store lamé boy group (also, Kingdom in their polyester French royalty fits from this year....same energy). Blitzers, Will Make a Mistake: i have not seen this kind of neon clashing denim patternwork in years ....and these animal print clashing pants and hoodies? big 2012 quirky circus boy energy Woo Jinyoung (D1CE), Happy Birthday: if you watched MixNine all the way through congratulations, you and I both wasted our lives. but at least we found him! this leopard print suit and the gold lamé paints and white suit jacket are straight from 2000s MTV Xdinary Heroes, Happy Death Day: pastel plaid on plaid on plaid JYPE stylist you finally got something right!! TAN, Du Du Du: the matching suits based off a limited colour palette are literally 2nd gen which is only right because they have 2 old gen idols (Jaejun and Changsun) Verivery, Undercover: the cunty silk tracksuit look is missing only the words "Juicy" directly across Dongheon's ass Ateez, Guerilla: i try to use the honorable mentions for smaller groups I love, but I can't not mention the incredibly well-executed Y2K skate punk influence all over the styling here Bonus: Woodz as "guy in 2004 who still isn't over the Matrix" And finally, a staging I literally never want back but I think everyone must see because I had to: the Infinite Michael Jackson-inspired Come Back Again stage including Sunggyu's shaved head, L in a fedora (remember when every kpop boy wore a fedora), and dollar store striped socks. Ah, 2010.... Fashion has changed drastically both inside and outside kpop, with 2014 bringing the rise of normcore in fashion that SHINee would utilize for 2015's View to huge influence across the industry. Fans now throw fits over idols not looking luxurious and "aesthetic", but maybe we need to remember that stage outfits....are stage outfits. Look a little ugly. Make a facial expression. Remember that the glory of the game is that you are dancing and screaming your heart out on stage to flashing lights and theatre sets and melodrama and by god you are going to be remembered. Just....don't bring back the fedora. I hope you all enjoyed this journey down memory lane. Catch me in another unhinged post! What are your favorite old looks from kpop? Favorite OTT new ones? Did you wear low-rise jeans or oversized denim in the 2000s? Have you listened to The Chaser by Infinite today? submitted by /u/happymoon9 to r/kpopthoughts [link] [comments]

The Breakdown: Rita Ora Ultimate Dating History Part One
Disclaimer: This is a collection of contextualized content, claims, and gossip of the last years. There is no intent to convince anyone of anything. The sub is growing, and it is more time-consuming to write up details about her dating history every time I am asked than just linking it to this thread. I will provide as much context as I think is necessary to make sense of why certain rumors were spread and what effects they might had on the turn of history. CONNECTIONS WITH EVIDENCE OR CONFIRMED BRUNO MARS (2009-2011) Rita herself claims that she met Bruno in 2009 when he was hired to write songs for her. She claims they ended it in 2011. Bruno Mars denied every comment. Probably bc he was in a relationship with Chanel Malvar during that time, meaning that he would have cheated on her with Rita. He allegedly wrote When I was your Man about the situation. That’s them being in a club together in 2011. I didn't find anything on the net that would support her claim other than them working and hanging out together. ROBERT KARDASHIAN (2011-2012) In December 2011 news broke that Rob could be dating Rita. Exactly a year later in December 2012 he went on a Twitter rant that she allegedly cheated on him with more than 20 men. She responded by tweeting at him that his dick was whack and she had to get it somewhere else. He retaliated by claiming they were expecting at some point but didn’t elaborate on why the pregnancy wasn’t brought to term. She addressed it a few months later, and while she didn’t deny anything he said, she did say she never deemed them, boyfriend and girlfriend. There were seen hanging out together and posting about each other online, but it was vague enough to potentially believe her claim that they were semi-exclusively hooking up eventually trying to make it work but it never materialized. ASAP ROCKY (AUTUMN 2012) She was seen hanging out with him in the autumn of 2012, and he cheated on his then-girlfriend with her. It came to light when he published his album in 2015 mentioning her in the song Better Things. He claims she caused him a lot of trouble with her big mouth. He apologized since. She again didn’t deny anything but said she was upset that he gives the impression that it is okay for men to treat women like that. CALVIN HARRIS (MAY 2013 - SPRING 2014) Rita and Calvin historically haven’t had a great rapport based on their Twitter interactions. They had a public back and forth about her allegedly lying about being offered a song. Eventually patching things up and working for the same label led to him taking her to an event. In the following months, they frequently talked about each other or shared stuff on social. Some of his contacts would lead to her biggest hits after they broke up. Calvin, Avicii, and Tiësto would make having Rita as a feature a great staple in EDM music. He was very busy during the time and acquired a home in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Rita was primarily busy networking and grew closer to Kate Moss. They were hanging out a lot while Rita accompanied Calvin to gigs. He visited her on set when she was filming 50 Shades. There are two stories about I Will Never Let You Down. Rita claims they came up with it together. Calvin firmly stated he wrote that song. (They both have been on Ryan Seacrest after the split talking about it so you can watch her visit first and his visit afterward.) However, they recorded the song together and made their red carpet debut in January 2014. After it was published rumors started to break that their relationship might be a little rocky. Allegedly he wasn't happy with her ripping Zac Efrons shirt off in April while he was doing Coachella. They eventually went on a break after getting together at Radio 1’s Big Weekend at the end of May and Calvin informed the world, including Rita, via Twitter by early June that they had broken up a while ago. By that time he had contributed four more songs for her upcoming album. Rumors spread the reason for the split was her cheating on him, while she maintained it was due to their busy schedules. One story claims she stayed in a hotel in LA without telling him. Others claimed she was flirting with Justin Bieber. The split however seemed amicable until August, when Rita was supposed to perform at the Teen Choice Awards and put her own money into the performance until Calvin didn’t approve it a day prior. They then started to become a little cryptic about the split, giving each other backhanded compliments. He alluded to having very good reasons for the split and pointing at her determination to be successful, claiming she will be around longer than most. She called him out multiple times for the Teen Choice Awards saying she has no idea why he did that. He also wouldn't let her use the songs they/he wrote for her album. They were both signed at RocNation and allegedly Rita wanted RN to force Calvin to let her record the songs but RN sided with him. Ultimately one of the reasons leading to Rita suing RN. Calvin went on to work with multiple ppl Rita has an issue with. Rihanna who allegedly sabotaged Rita at RocNation and Dua Lipa who Rita is feuding. Both songs were significantly more successful. CONNECTIONS WITH EVIDENCE BUT UNCONFIRMED CARA DELEVINGNE (Somewhere 2012-2013) Cara and Rita started being seen out together in the summer of 2012 surrounded by their party entourage. Over the years they always seemed close and played with the narrative of them actually hooking up. Calling each other wifey. Or Cara putting up a show with her on stage. But in the end, she posted similar pics with many girlfriends (including Cara’s sister Poppy) and never showed more affection than some female friends do. Years later Rita still didn’t confirm anything. She claims the relationship was ‘ambiguous’. She also claims they started a trend. I don’t know what she means by that, but it came up when she came out with the song Girls in 2018. She claimed this song is not about anything more than supporting other females, despite the lyrics telling a different story. But once the song received backlash for exploiting being bisexual as something you can appropriate to cater to the male gaze and cause controversy without any stigma that might come with it the narrative changed. Ora then claimed that it was actually telling her story of being bisexual herself and that she had romantic relationships with other women and was now forced to come out bc ppl were questioning her. DAVE GARDNER (2013) They were seen a lot together in 2013 which is not unusual per se bc they shared the same circles. They hung out overnight. They were seen out and about picking stuff up. Some mystical sources revealed they were having something. And then there is the Calvin Harris incident. He wasn’t seen with her afterward (except for rare bump-ins) and not since he started dating Liv Tyler. LUKE MAGNILL (APRIL 2013) Both were seen cozying up at a pool in Las Vegas coming and leaving together. Looks a little bit too intimate to be a just friends situation. They also weren’t seen together afterward. CONNECTIONS WITH NO EVIDENCE OR HAVE BEEN DENIED DRAKE (ALLEGEDY 2012) Drake wrote her song R.I.P. and she spoke positively about him. There are a few pics of them hanging out, but nothing that would justify assuming they hooked up other than their dating habits in general. She also denied it publicly. JONAH HILL (ALLEGEDLY 2012) A couple of blinds went around claiming Rita cheated on Rob with Jonah Hill, who bragged about it, which was the final straw for Rob. I couldn’t find anything other that would support that claim. Also, CDAN is involved who has a hate boner for her. EVAN ROSS (JANUARY 2013) Rita was spotted making out with him at Goldbar in SoHo. Both of them had been single at that time and are friends to this day. They have been spotted numerous times together during that time and ever since. The timeline and location make sense. Kissing someone is not that big of a deal. Neither of them commented on it. SNOOP DOG (ALLEGEDLY JANUARY 2013) They went together to Thailand which made ppl think they are an item, but they were just shooting the (unintentionally funny) music video for a collab. JAY-Z (Allegedly somewhere between 2012-2015) Rita was signed with Roc Nation when she was 18 years old in December of 2008. After her first attempt at making an album was scrapped by the label, she finally published her debut in 2012. Prior to all the scandals. No rumors gained track up until late 2012 or early 2013 after Rob Kardashian blasted her on Twitter for allegedly cheating and promiscuous behavior. Holly Hagan claimed she heard Rita was having an affair with Jay-Z. Ppl went wild afterward. To give you an impression of how wild claims became. Rita publicly denied it. Her comments on the label were positive and based on the PR the label provided her and her statements made it didn’t seem like the relationship was strained due to the rumors. In 2013 she also started dating Calvin Harris and they worked together professionally. She was also featured on Iggy Azaleas US top 10 hit Black Widow which marks her first positive appearance on the US market. However, her private life started affecting her work life. She had a nasty breakup with CH who was also signed to RN and one of their highest earners. She wanted RN to force CH to let her publish the songs they wrote together but instead made her restart her album production. Allegedly she was also feuding with Rihanna. Rihanna would block songs for herself so Rita couldn’t record them. Meanwhile, Rita would record a song with her ex Chris Brown. Rita recorded I Will Never Let You Down with CH and later Rihanna would release the way more successful This Is What You Came For with him. During the summer of 2015, Rita claimed her next album would come by the end of 2015 instead she sued RN to release her of the contract. They countersued for breaking her contract. They settled in May 2016. Having that timeline in mind, Beyoncé dropped Lemonade in April 2016 with the infamous Sorry track, having the cheating rumors with Rita flare up again. So in the middle of the lawsuit and the press she was getting, Rita felt inclined to Snapchata a picture of her in a lemon bra with a J necklace. Just to turn around and clear the rumors that she of course isn’t Becky with the good hair. In May she also posted a ‘selfie’ with Beyoncé at the MET gala calling her family. Shortly afterwards they settled the lawsuit. There are no really notable get-togethers recorded after Rita was released from her contract. Beyoncé congratulates her on her birthday on her website but she isn’t invited to events like their Oscar party. Even though rumors around them went wild and stepped onto conspiracy theory territory, I wouldn’t go as far as deem anything proof. Concluding remarks: As you may know, I am a frequent contributor to the DM subreddit. It became a running gag that I gathered random RO knowledge during the pandemic, and I started a weekly update on her. I included TW bc they are attached to the hips. I wasn’t aware of how controversial TW is in the gossip world up until I started doing this, comments and direct messages were flooding in. While this for sure seems excessive, it simply has been gathered over years of being exposed to European yellow press and reading up stuff whenever I felt like it. I neither stan nor hate Rita. Huge fan of her fashion. Don’t mind her music. Think she is an amazing hustler. Also think she is problematic af. I wrote up a couple of these breakdowns while watching The Dropout. It is not that serious. Gossipculture is nothing else than playing Dungeons & Dragons with celebrities. We do gossip, not facts. So please don’t send me crazy messages claiming I am obsessed with RO bc it makes you look obsessed with me. If you wish for other deep dives on that topic or rumored relationships of her that I didn’t pick up yet pls leave me a comment. The next deep dives will include: Justin Bieber, Ricky Hill, Chris Brown, Whiz Khalifa, Travis Barker, Fai Khadra, James Arthur, Lewis Hamilton, Andrew Watt, Tyrone Wood, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, Conor McGregor, Andrew Garfield, Rafferty Law, Jude Law, Joey Essex, Romain Gavras, Taika Waititi submitted by /u/Lolaxanon to r/Fauxmoi [link] [comments]

[Kpop] A nurse costume in a music video, a Korean labor union, fanwars, and discourse on sexism in Korean society
I'm a longtime reader of r/HobbyDrama, but this is my first time posting. I've been following this particular controversy on social media, and it's been driving me nuts, so I gave it a shot and did this writeup. Hope I did it justice, I tried my best to present everything in an even light. Background Blackpink is one of, if not the most popular girl groups in Kpop right now. They've been around since 2016, and since then, some of their music videos have passed a billion views, they've collaborated with Lady Gaga, Cardi B, and Selena Gomez, and they performed at Coachella last year. Disclaimer, I'm a Blackpink fan in terms of liking their music, but I don't really engage with the intense fandom spaces, particularly Twitter, so this is all stuff I've just observed. On October 2, Blackpink put out the music video for Lovesick Girls , the main single from their first album, creatively titled The Album. Like you might expect from the title, it's a song about breakups and heartbreak. Nothing that could stir up controversy, right? Jennie and Her Costume In the second verse of the song, the music video for "Lovesick Girls" shows one of the members, Jennie Kim, playing both a patient and a nurse in a therapy session (starting at 1:32). Jennie appears in the nurse costume for less than 10 seconds, as it only appears in that scene, and even then, it's more focused on the "patient" character. But some were displeased with the nurse costume, and made their displeasure known online. It's also worth mentioning that this particular member, Jennie, has been subject to online hate before, which should be kept in mind coming into this dustup. She's arguably the group's most popular member (although all 4 are absurdly popular), or at least its public face, and some Blinks (Blackpink's fandom name) have viewed management decisions by YG Entertainment, their label, such as giving Jennie flashier stage costumes, or giving her a solo debut before any of the other members as evidence that she's the company favorite, and have directed hate her way for it. Her public image of being more chic and sexy, as opposed to the more typical cutsey innocent girl group persona, has also garnered her hate, for the typical sexist reasons. During some performances in 2018, Jennie also came under scrutiny for allegedly lazy dancing , which garnered her a ton of online abuse as well, as these trolls said this was clearly evidence that she didn't care about the rest of the group, and was selfish and entitled, yada yada. In August 2020, a Blink's post on the Korean blog site Pann stated that in fact, Jennie had been working with an ankle injury, which was why her dancing had declined in 2018. In response to this, Blinks trended #ApologizeToJennie on Twitter, and in general have become pretty protective of her. The Initial Controversy On October 5, the Korean Health and Medical Workers Union (KHMWU) put out a statement taking issue with Blackpink and their label YG Entertainment for their portrayal of nurses (translation via Soompi ) "In the YG Entertainment group BLACKPINK’s “Lovesick Girls” music video that was released on October 2, one of the members appeared in a nurse’s outfit. The cap, tight and short skirt, and high heels are completely different from an actual nurse’s outfit. The outfit and portrayal directly imitate the typical sexual stereotype and excuse it as a simple “costume.” Even though nurses are professional healthcare workers, for the sole reason that there are more women in the profession, they have been subject to sexual objectification and derogatory portrayals expressing doubts about their professionalism. Nurses have been fighting for a long time to change this, and in 2020, when the discussion about women’s rights is more active than ever, YG Entertainment sexually objectified the image of a nurse in BLACKPINK’s music video. The music video gained almost 100 million views in three days since its release. In a real hospital, not the ones in the media, nurses are fighting at the frontlines of COVID-19 and taking on the risk of infection for the safety and survival of the citizens. There has been a climate of heroizing nurses as well, but there are still those who call nurses “hey” or “young lady” and let out their stress on them or exercise their power on them. Furthermore, nurses are the healthcare workers who are the most frequently exposed to sexual abuse. If the media continues to show a distorted image of nurses, situations like these will only get worse. After the music video was revealed, hashtags like #NursesAreNotCostumes, #Stop_Sexualizing_Nurses, and #nurse_is_profession appeared on social media. Sexual objectification of professions with a higher ratio of women to men has gone on for too long to simply think of this as the voice of the minority in an online space. The Korean Health and Medical Worker’s Union strictly opposes sexual objectification of women and nurses. As BLACKPINK’s new song is ranking high on charts globally, we call on YG Entertainment to take responsible measures to match their popularity and influence." Initial Fallout and Fanwars As you can imagine, fans did not take this well. I can't link to anyone's personal Twitter, but from what I saw, some Blinks have taken to spamming hate at any Korean users who use the KHMWU's hashtags. However, despite kicking off this controversy, much of the drama has become between Kpop fans, rather than between Blinks and Koreans who support the KHMWU. Some Blinks have suggested that the ARMY (fans of BTS, mega-popular Kpop boy group) are behind the campaign, and trying to sabotage Blackpink's success to boost BTS (who are also doing very well internationally right now). Sections of Kpop Twitter quickly devolved into a BTS-Blackpink fanwar. Those in support of the KHMU point to the real issue of the "sexy nurse" stereotype, and how it harms women in the healthcare field, and promotes a sexualized view of women who are just doing a job, which can lead to harassment and abuse. Blinks and their supporters argued back that Jennie and Blackpink are unfair targets for this issue, as the nurse outfit in question only appears for a few seconds, and although inaccurate, is not particularly revealing (no cleavage, the skirt is knee length, though she is in stiletto heels).Blinks have also pointed out that other popular Kpop groups, such as Girls' Generation and the aforementioned BTS , have worn doctor and nurse costumes in music videos without getting backlash like this. One public figure who I can link to is Jeff Benjamin, a music journalist who covers a lot of Kpop, and recently interviewed Blackpink, who weighed in, calling the controversy a sexist double standard . If you look at the replies, some comments, mostly from Blinks, thanked him for supporting Jennie, but others criticized him for being a white man speaking on a Korean women's issue, and called him ignorant of the issue of misogyny and objectification in Korean society. The Nth Room Angle One Korea-specific angle a lot of non-Korean Kpop fans are ignorant of is this controversy's relation to the "Nth Room" case. The Nth Room was the name of a set of groups on the encrypted messaging app Telegram where a ring of anonymous Korean users spread blackmailed and sexually exploitative pornographic photos and videos of both women and underage girls, some of whom were kept as sex slaves. In the last year, the group was uncovered, some of the perpetrators have been arrested, and South Korea has tightened laws around online sex crimes. Really grim, upsetting stuff, link to an article here for more detail. This case and the uproar are related to an overall movement by Korean feminists and women's groups against pervasive sexism and abuse of women in modern Korean society, and the Nth Room case further escalated public anger. A related issue is "molka", referring to voyeuristic videos and pictures taken from secret spy cameras hidden in public places, the vast majority of which target women. This has been the focus of much of the Korean #MeToo movement, as feminists have pushed against the sexualization and exploitation of women in everyday settings. How does this relate to that Blackpink video? Allegedly, there was a section of the Nth Room specifically dedicated to nurse outfit fetishes. Some comments I saw (although I'm not sure if this is right) said that sexualization of nurses was so bad that Korean search engines had to age-restrict simply looking up the word "nurse." Thus, for the KHMU, the image of the sexy nurse is a particularly sensitive and objectionable topic right now, as the Nth Room saga is still quite fresh in the public mind. Mix in the COVID-19 pandemic, and you can see why people might be sensitive around perceived offenses towards healthcare workers. Official Response In response to this controversy, YG Entertainment stepped in and issued a statement on October 6 (translation via that same Soompi article) "First, we express our deep respect to the nurses who are always staying by the patients’ sides and fighting in the frontlines. “Lovesick Girls” is a song that raises the question of why we continue to find love when we are hurt by it while also conveying a hopeful message. In the “Lovesick Girls” music video, the scene with the nurse and the patient reflects the lyrics, “No doctor could help when I’m lovesick.” There was no specific intention to it, but we are concerned about the distorted views. We ask that you think of music videos as an independent genre of art, and we would appreciate it if you could understand that each scene was made with no other intention than to express the music. The production team is currently deliberating and discussing whether the scene should be edited out" This isn't the first time this year a Blackpink music video has faced controversy and calls for edits. In June, the video to the single "How You Like That" caused controversy for including a statue of the Hindu god Ganesha as a prop sitting on the floor of one scene. This caused an uproar from many South Asian and Hindu fans, and the music video was re-edited to remove the shots with the statue. As of writing this, the nurse scene is still in the Lovesick Girls video. While they still could edit it at any point, I'm not certain they will, since when the Ganesha statue issue came up, they quickly edited the video, and only made a statement to announce it had been edited, not that they were considering it. As always, it's a mess when obsessive fandoms meet real world social issues, and the (very legitimate) issues the KHMU raised have largely been drowned out by arguments on stan Twitter. Blinks, from a cursory look at Twitter, seem to view the whole thing as another unfair attack on Jennie, but YG seems to take it more seriously than most fandom drama, as they actually put out a statement, albeit a fairly handwavey one. EDIT:UPDATE 10/7: YG Entertainment issued an apology and has decided to delete the scene featuring the nurse costume Full statement: "This is YG Entertainment. We have decided to edit out all of the scenes with the nurse uniform in BLACKPINK’s “Lovesick Girls” music video, and we will replace the video as soon as possible. While working on the music video for a long time, we did not expect this issue to be raised because [the scenes] had no specific intention to them. We feel greatly responsible for this and will consider it an opportunity to deeply learn. We relay our apologies to the nurses who felt discomfort, and we once again express our respect to all healthcare workers who are working hard for the sake of the health of the citizens. Thank you." Needless to say, this has only inflamed Twitter Blinks, who are taking it as a betrayal of Blackpink and Jennie. Many tweets demanding they "protect" Blackpink. EDIT 2: UPDATE 10/8 As of October 8, the music video for "Lovesick Girls" has been edited to remove all shots of Jennie's nurse costume. submitted by /u/0kthb14 to r/HobbyDrama [link] [comments]

14 kg Haul Review | w2c's & Fit Pics | Gucci, Chanel, Cartier, Off White, Supreme, Balenciaga, Champion, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, and more | Clothes, Shoes, Bags, & Accessories - Lots of Budget Items
I got a bunch of stuff for you today fam. DESIGNER + LOW KEY + HYPE + I"M ADDICTED AND CANT STOP SOMEONE HELP ME + I"M SERIOUS HELP First I’d like to thank the almighty admins for making this review possible to get seen by more than three people. I honestly love the new post guidelines, now I feel like I’m actually here to find new reps and not videos of Lin’s grand dad twerking in New York. Anyways, This was a fun haul. Took me a couple months to finally get everything I wanted and shipped and it was so worth taking my time and making returns when necessary. Thank you to all my fellow repfam who share QC’s, Finds and reviews. Those are what ensure we get quality items. I’m already shopping for my Coachella 2020 gear for my next haul. This is my 3rd Haul - talking actual big haul (I’ve ordered maybe 7 or 8 total times so far). And man have I learned a lot along the way. I’ll put some tips and advice at the bottom for those of you that care to read it. Alright enough chitter chatter, lets get to the goooooddddsss: Scoring Method: Quality VS Price VS Accuracy out of 10 My Stats: 5'10 150lbs with broad shoulders | my normal shirt size is a L in US, or a relaxed M, depending on brand. My ideal specs for top sizing is 48 Shoulders, over 108 chest, and 74 or over length. My waist size is 32 or a medium. I'm fit and athletic but not big muscular. Got a little love pouch some days (working on my dad bod) *** If you need any more detailed photos just let me know and I got you *** CLOTHES: Gucci Donald Duck ¥69 (Noice) L FIT | W2C (OOS) I got lucky enough to snag this before it sold out. I’ve never seen retail in person, but it looks close from photos. Feels really good quality tags look good, I fucks with it heavy. Drip Level 10/10 ¥109 LV wizard of oz shirt Size L Fit| w2c Eh. The quality feels really nice but the print is really bad color wise. There should be wayyyy less black and you should see more colors on the back. The front looks good tho, and the inside out stitching is accurate. It's oversized and but kind of a weird oversized feel. IDK how retail is but I'll still wear this out to dinner some nights. Drip Level: 7/10 (quality of material saved this rating) ¥29 Patagonia tee XL Fit | w2c I mean it's perfect for the price. Soft, good print, but a pretty thin blank. But for 29 YUAN! this is great. Wrong tags also, what you see on the taobao is what you get. Drip Level: 9/10 ¥188 Givenchy studio homme t shirt S Fit | w2c I found this seller reverse image searching and GPed. This material, print, sizing, everything is perfect. I'm so happy about this one. Obviously sizing is really big so size down a couple (just read the size chart). Really nice find I'm stoked on this. It's a flex yet not the most obnoxious which I like. Drip Level: 10/10 ¥188 OW impropitiu shirt S Fit | W2C This is dope, I should've sized up one more though but this fit how it looks on OW's website with the short sleeves angled out so it works. Chest and shoulders feel comfy which is a big deal for me so that's a huge plus, although material is a little stiff but I think it's supposed to be. All the print looks pretty good except the 2020 looks just a tad tilted compared to everything else. Back print could be a tad bigger is really close to accurate size (thanks fam for correcting me), when wearing it no one will notice IMO, but maybe, but whatever if they do. Tags look good. Drip Level 8/10 ¥69 SLP Signature collar shirt L Fit | w2c So this seller is hit or miss, I'm not sure how accurate the color is, but the blank and tags look fine. I'm really stoked on this and it's a nice low key piece to wear casually out. I had ordered a dior graphic shirt and had to return it because the colors were completely wrong and print was half the size it should be. But this seller has a bunch of like simple shirts like this one, I'd recommend sticking to those from him. Drip Level 8/10 ¥55 Chanel logo tee L Fit | W2C Blank is thick and nice. I have never seen a retail so i dont know how accurate it is but embroidery and everything looks solid. It's a little shorter than I thought it would be but not as bad as some reps come.Based on my lack of knowledge: Drip level 8/10 ¥69 Supreme FTW tee L Fit | w2c This is dope, the blank, the embroidery, the color, the sizing. As little as I wear supreme I must say the reps are pretty well done and it makes it enticing to order more supreme just because they always come so well done. I'm really happy with this one, and I like the small logo as it makes it more casual to wear. Drip Level: 10/10 ¥89 Fendi Amor tee XXL Fit | w2c I was nervous about this one, it looked super small in the QC but in hand it's really great. The blank feels good and luxurious, and the print quality looks really nice. Tags seem good, only issue is I can't find a retail picture with the print on the sleeves, but I have no idea. Also, it's a little shorter than it should be, making it more boxy but it's fitted so the boxiness is weird. Still a great cop, a little loud for my style but it'll be nice for the right night out. Drip Level: 7/10 ¥55 places + faces 3M tees L Fit | w2c This is great. The blank is thinner than I wanted and it seems like it's going to wear down and turn into a work out shirt after a couple wears. The 3m is popping B, with the flash it lights up really nice. Drip Level: 8/10 because of the blank ¥99 SLP button up hawaiian shirt L Fit | w2c Originally I ordered a Medium and it looked to small so I sized up a bit larger than what my specs normally would be and I'm so glad I did. I guess this is kind of TTS as a relaxed L button up. This is sooo dope for the price. The material feels like a sun shirt almost, like golf shirt material in a way, but it's perfect for me here in Cali. Although the bottom isn't distressed like it should be, the way it's cut makes it start to distress every time I rub it so it's going to get there soon I just gotta pull on it. It's missing the tags but so that's a minus, and I dont know what retail feels like but yea I'm stoked on this for the price. Drip Level: 9/10 ¥19 Nelly hipster plain tee 2XL Fit | w2c Heavily reviewed, this is great. Definitely getting more in the future. Drip Level: 10/10 ¥60 Sunday Service tee S Fit | w2c Bought this for the girl, she didn't want to model for reddit this time lol but she loves it. It looks way better on her (she's tiny so it's super baggy). I'm not sure of accuracy but this material is super thick and heavy. Feels like a really good build, especially for the price. Drip Level: 10/10 ¥42 Champion embroidery shirt XL fit | w2c I followed the size guide and all and its tight as fuck around the pits. Quality is pretty shit too. I wouldn't recommend. Tags and stuff flooks good though so that's a plus. Drip level 5/10 ¥42 champion t shirt XL Fit | dead Really thin black, almost see through honestly. It's soft though and I think i'm just going to use this as a throw away work out shirt. Print and tags look good just shit blank. Drip Level 6/10 Bottoms ¥90 Adidas Jogger pants tapered DQ1448 M Fit | w2c I LOVE THESE. I am honestly blown away by the quality. Sizing is perfect, I went TTS, although I'm a little worried they might shrink after a wash If I do it wrong. Either way, love the fit, softness, material, and accuracy to my knowledge. Drip Level 10/10 ¥65 FOG Shorts M Fit | w2c This came much baggier than I thought. The waist size is perfect, but I like knee rider shorts a bit more. Oh and these are missing the tags on the inside which I dont really care about but you should know. After I washed them (As pictured) they shrank quite a bit which makes them fit more to my liking. Probably shrunk about a size and a half. Drip Level: 8/10 ¥85 Rhude big logo shorts M Fit| w2c The material and print and all the little details is superb, but damn these are baggy as hell. The waist is the perfect size, but I didn't realize how big these are around the legs. Not really my style and with this material it's probably not shrinking in the wash. I'm still going to wear the fuck out of them because they are dope, it's just bigger than I realized but that's on me not the seller. For how good these are for the price I'm stoked. Drip Level: 10/10 BAGS ¥560 Lv titanium Camera bag: In Hand | w2c Wow this bag is fucking perfect. If you want this one dont pay an extra $100 from the other sellers because this is one of the best batches out. Only flaw is there should be a lv on the zipper catch connection piece. Everything else is 1:1. I Posted this in D Reps and that's what everyone told me there. Drip Level: 10/10 ¥600 LV Titanium book bag: In Hand | w2c Not quite as flawless as the camera bag but pretty dang on close. The LV stamp on the back is a little janky but not too bad. The print and material is really nice, and it holds the shape really well for the price (usually cheaper ones have bad shape flaws in my experience). I think when I'm wearing it it will look fine, although I'm trying to find the right time and kind of think now that I have it it's too loud for my style. The camera bag is all I need really. I might end up posting this in BST so message me if interested. Drip Level: 8/10 Jacquemas bag ¥119 In Hand | w2c For the girl, she's stoked on it for the price but says the belt part of it is too short. It came a little squished and the bottom is still slightly mishapen but when she wears it you can't notice. Drip Level: 7/10 SHOES ¥163 Berkenstocks 35 In Hand | w2c For the girl, she's worn these almost everyday since we got them and she's so stoked. She says they are almost identical to her retail. Size down one full size from normal she says. Drip Level: 10/10 ¥150 UB Parley 43 In Hand | w2c These are smaller than I hoped. I should’ve sized up .5 but they work great for gym shoes. I’ve been wearing them ever since and I love these, bout to order some more. Drip Level: 10/10 I made these next two imgurs public and the comments are priceless. I titled for a reaction, and man those imgurians dont disappoint! LOL please read the comments for some laughs. Givenchy Shoes 43 ¥280 In Hand On Feet w2c Lin WeChat: suifeng940037 My favorite rep shoes I've ordered to date. I wear these like every other day and get a ton of compliments. These make any outfit just that much better. Freaking stoked on these for the price. There are definitely some flaws, but for $40 they are really close. Definitely not real leather, but feels just like retail ones I felt in the store, maybe a little more synthetic feeling. Actually surprisingly comfy too. Drip Level: 10/10 Gucci Aces 42 ¥450 In Hand On Feet w2c Lin WeChat: suifeng940037 These are really good. There is only one flaw one and that's the back where it's red, it should be red at the bottom connecting to the heal, instead you can see the material difference on this one. Other than that these are great for the price. I know there are a lot of sellers with better batches, but we got the cheaper option and since I was already ordering through Lin we just stuck with one seller for ease, and my other main shoe seller (jelly) was taking too long cause he got busy. Normally I'd go through him Gucci all day, but Lin is great for saving some money. Drip Level: 8/10 Accessories: ¥32 LV Wallet Street market quality Got sent 2 for 1 In Hand | w2c It's exactly what you'd expect for the price. Similar to what I saw in cambodia at the street markets. Super cheap feeling but if you pull this out at the register real quick and put it away it looks fine lol. Not going to be my everyday wallet but nice to have for time to time. Drip Level: 4/10 (Not complaining for price) 2 OW belt ¥88 each In Hand | w2c WTF. Last time I ordered from him the W ILL flaw wasn't there, these have it ever so slightly though. I think I ordered the wrong one as he's got two options on his page. Still better than most so that's ok. I'm only wearing these to festivals and shit anyways so it's all good. The buckle and materials area really great though. Drip Level: 8/10 ¥169 Balenciaga White hat In Hand | w2c This is great. Heavily reviewed so you know the deal. The letters look good, especially the B which is usually an issue from what i've seen. The only issue I see is the inside tag is so thin you can see the printing on the next tag and I'm pretty sure that's wrong. Drip Level: 9/10 ¥18 LV Bracelet QC (It was for my friend he has it - but the white one is mine) | w2c Ordered the white one before and I love it, but this one is smaller and not what the listing says the size is. On the listing it says they are all 18, this one is definitely a 16. IDK, be careful when ordering. The white one fits an average mans wrist at 18 but this brown one I just ordered is definitely 16 or smaller. Drip Level: 1/10 (Based on wrong size) ¥83 Cartier no diamonds love bracelet 16 In Hand | w2c DEAD - Also made this Imgur public for some laughs :) \*Links dead but I found this from reverse image searching Taobao with the Cartier stock image, there were a ton of other sellers.**** For my girl. She fucking loves it. She wanted this one instead of the one with diamonds because this ones more believable as real for us middlclass millennials. Screws and connection works seamlessly. Never held retail so deducting one point to be safe. Here's the one we got in our last haul two months ago as a back up: w2c In Hand - The screws have started to lose threading after two months but goes hard if you don't wear it often. It still tightens up, but after about a couple hours it loosens up. Drip Level: 9/10 DHGATE Extras: $15 Balenciaga Black Hat FAILL In Hand | w2c I got impatient because pritt was taking weeks to send the black one so I cancelled and just decided to order here. I figured it was probably from the same source so fuck it. Crazy because this store had a ton of good reviews but only a couple on this item. Guess that’s why you only order from DH if you see picture reviews. I’ve success on DH before, but not with tis one. Drip Level: 2/10 $20 GG Gucci Belt In Hand | w2c This item for instance had a ton of picture reviews. It’s so great. Only issue is it doesn’t have any stamps inside the belt. Fake leather feels good, buckle isn’t getting scratched after two weeks, the color looks good. When wearing it looks great. Drip Level: 8/10 (quality / aesthetics at this price minus the missing stamps) Learned Advice: ALWAYS make sure there’s a size chart. Dont wing it. If it looks too good to be true, it might be, just try to do your research if you can. It’s worth finding QC or Reviews for budget items, you may end up with a bunch of unwearable cheap, flawed, shit shirts that go to waste and you can’t sell. Take your time on these hauls, make sure you really want it before you buy it, leave it in your cart for a day. Really think before you buy, dont drop too much cash just to look “rich.” Other than that, have fun and drip heavy my G's. EDIT: My ideal spec sizes I entered length wrong: 64 74 EDIT #2: Added another Cartier bracelet link and in hand photo since our latest one is dead. submitted by /u/Mr_surge0n_1 to r/FashionReps [link] [comments]

[Beauty Community] Vitamin D: The James Charles Story
(the D is his penis) (Update at the bottom for everything that's happened this past week) Hey guys! I've chosen to tell this story in the order that events unfolded to the audience and there's two main drama story lines, so there may be some jumping around. I know I've left things out, like Gage's drama with Tana and James's reaction to Gage's side of the story, but they're not important to the main plot. Also, I'm sorry for screenshots, but these characters are constantly tweeting and deleting. The main characters: James Charles: You may remember him from his viral yearbook photo or from being the first male Covergirl. Or maybe you remember that ebola tweet that nearly lost him the Covergirl thing or that time his ex-friend revealed that the yearbook photo was totally fake. Needless to say, James has accumulated a large following of lover and haters. Before this all started, he was sitting around 16.5 mil subscribers on Youtube. Tati Westbook: You probably don't know her. She a much calmer, much older, much less dramatic friend of James. She's the person who really gave James his chance at social media stardom, when she invited him to her wedding and had him do her makeup. No one knew it at the time, but Tati had paid for everything to make that happen, as James was 17 and flat broke. A little more than a year ago, she created a vitamin company, Halo Beauty. She started this drama at 5.9 mil subscribers. Gage Gomez: A straight-ish Instagram model The rest of the beauty community: There's a handful of other names that are tangentially involved in this story, but they don't really need a background. Gabriel Zamora is a smaller beauty youtuber who's known for causing drama. If you remember the huge beauty community drama from last year, he started that. Jeffree Star is big, very very controversial beauty youtuber, who's also known for starting drama. Chapter 1: Coachella Weekend One (middle of April): James loves Coachella. This year, he brought his friends and Gage, a guy from New York that had been talking with him for a few months. Gage was bi-curious and looking to experiment a little, which is why he decided to fly to Coachella and go with James and James's friends. During the weekend, Gage and James were seen holding hands and kissing each other. Gage goes back to New York, tells James he had a good time but he's realized he isn't bi. Fans quickly decided the two were dating, which James shot down by calling Gage a con artist. Why is Gage a con artist? Because James's friends told him Gage was only after James's clout. Chapter 2: Coachella Weekend Two (end of April): James has Coachella problems. Due to some mess up with tickets and crowds, the event staff won't let him in. Thankfully, SugarBearHair is there to save the day.... if he does a sponsored post for them. He makes a thirty second video for his Instagram, talking about how great the night time vitamins are, since the melatonin is helping his anxiety and insomnia. Shortly after, Tati, creator a of vitamin company remember, make her own instagram video talking about fake friends, trusting people, etc. She doesn't name James, but people are putting two and two together. James has never mentioned Tati's vitamins in his videos and suddenly he's claiming her number one competitor are lovely, wonderful people, whose vitamin is curing his anxiety? The reaction is pretty mixed - some people think she's genuinely upset about a friend, other people think she's overreacting to business deals. Chapter 3: The Sisters Tour (end of April): James Charles is taking his show on the road! And you can see it for the low, low price of $500. Okay, the cheapest tickets are only $50, but people are upset at the price of VIP tickets. For $500, you get to take a photo with him, sit in the front row, maybe be brought on stage, and you get to purchase his merch first. You also get a poster and a bag of his favorite makeup. For the next step down, $250 tickets, you get to take a photo with him, sit in the second row, maybe be brought on stage, and you get to purchase his merch second. Again, you get a poster and a smaller bag of his merch. James tweets that he's making the $500 ticket better(the only change is you now get to have food and a Q&A for $500). He also says he has no control over ticket price. But don't worry, VIP tickets are selling out. This is the beginning of the tide turning against James. Chapter 4: The Leaked DMs (beginning of May): Remember Gage? It's been about two weeks between Chapter 1 and now. Some leaked dms have come out between the two of them (the current theory is James 'leaked' them to make himself look good, allegedly, conspiracy, girl). In the leaked messages, Gage tells James he's making a video, to clear up what James has said about him being a con artist. James says he's doing it all for the attention, Gage doesn't have any fans so he's just milking James's fans. James then goes into a very emotional manipulative rant, explaining exactly how Gage has conned James. See, James has video evidence that Gage happily kissed him, so obviously he wasn't forced into doing anything. Gage and James cuddled, kissed, and slept in the same bed, which clearly means he likes James. Gage says he is straight, but he was also curious, which was the whole point of flying out to see James. Gage includes a time when James was crying and said the only time that would make it stop was if Gage kissed him. James says that after that, Gage kissed him voluntarily a bunch of times, so Gage is lying about not liking him. There's more in the messages, but the main thing here is James sexually harassing and manipulating Gage. Gage posts his story of what happened: he made it clear to James that he didn't really know how he felt, but he wasn't in love with James and didn't really want to do anything physical with him. James didn't respect that and constantly tried to force Gage to be more physical with him. For some reason, this doesn't really blow up and everyone moves on. Chapter 5: Gossip (beginning of May): James has apparently been running about everyone's back, talking trash about Tati. Another beauty Youtuber, Gabriel Zamora, posts a video about how Tati is whining over vitamins and then a story about Tati making a big deal over nothing It's consider uncouth to name names, so Gabriel is really riling people up right now. Tati will say that she's heard drama channels say James was dm'ing them, but I haven't seen any screenshots or dms. James gets invited to the Met Gala during this time. Chapter 6: BYE SISTER (May 10th): This is the thing that pushed the drama into the mainstream: Tati's 40 minute long destruction of James Charles. I should note, Tati does NOT get involved in Internet drama. I can't think of any other scandal (other than when her beauty vitamins came out, people were annoyed with that) that she's been in. It was a huge deal that it was Tati spearheading the drama. I could spend this whole post breaking down her video, but instead I'm linking to this one. Tati says in her video that time and time again, she's gone out of her way to help James. She flipped a switch in James's setting that took his AdSense money from $90 per video to $2500 per video. She helped him negotiate deals, including helping him get back up deals so he could fight harder for the offers he really wanted. She promoted his promo code so he would get a kickback from her audience. Her home was his home, he would come over and cry to her about his troubles and drama and she was always there for him. But he never really was for her. At some point, he came to her about her number one competitor, SugarBearHair, wanting to sponsor him. She begged him, "Please don't do this, it'll look so bad if my close friend is advertising for my biggest competitor. If it's a money thing, I will pay you to talk about my vitamins." He refused both offers, citing his tween/teen fan base and that he did not want to advertise health advice to them. Tati says she respected this. But if you remember back to chapter 2, the thing that got Tati into this mess is James doing a sponsored post for SugarBearHair, so now people realize why it cut so deep. Tati says she tried to confront James privately about this, but he shrugged it off. And lastly, in her video, she talks about James's predatory and sexually harassing view of straight men. He believes that there's no such thing as one, he can turn any man gay, he outwardly talks about sex and fucking dudes in front of his parents and Tati's friends and family, to the point that she felt she had to call them all up the next day and apologize for his actions. James being way too into straight dudes was pretty well known, but I think most people took it as a joke or an exaggeration. After Tati's video, so many men are stepping up to show the shit that James has said to them, done to them, and they've kept quiet out of fear of someone who has millions and millions of rabid fans. In one of the stories Tati tells, James is harassing a straight waiter and when Tati confronts him, he says "I'm famous, I'm allowed to". Chapter 7: The Aftermath (aka the shitshow that has been the past two days) James posted an apology video a couple hours after Tati's video. It's currently the 17th most disliked video on Youtube. I don't have a summary of his apology, because he didn't say anything. He's sorry he hurt Tati's feelings. He's sorry people have interpretted his actions as predatory. He's gonna do better. Meanwhile, he's on tour in Australia and it's going about as well as you would expect. He showed up two hours late, there's barely a crowd, and people aren't very happy. Online, James has lost over two million subscribers. Tati has gained nearly three million. ByeSister and Tati were trending on Twitter after she posted the video. There's live videos counting their sub counts. By the time you read this, James will probably dip below 14 million subscribers. Tati and James are currently holding records for most subs gained/lost in 24 hours, respectively. James is being cancelled across the board: Jake Paul, Jeffree Star, h3h3, drag queens, Trisha Paytas(edit: Trish has put her account on protected, the tweet just said 'Bye Sister') , Hank Green, Ariana Grande, the list does not stop. Chapter 8: The Worm turns Oh, did you think we were done? Noooo. Maybe you missed it in the pile of James's shit, but Tati had been quietly sitting on the news that James is sexually harassing straight boys. Others in the beauty community, particularly women of color, are not pleased that Tati waited until James had hurt her to tell everyone about his behaviour. There's more comments below her tweet about speaking up. PewDiePie thinks Tati is overreacting. For now, that's as far as things have gone. Tati has been keeping her nose out of the shit-flinging and is generally looking good through all this. James has been quiet on social media the past few days, so no one really knows what's going on behind the scenes, but suffice to say, it's gonna be hard to come back from this. Update May 12th: The waiter that Tati says James was aggressively hitting on makes a video. I haven't watched the whole thing, but basically Tati's story is wrong, James isn't a predator but he's kinda cringy. May 16th: Tati uploads a new video. It's basically Leave Britney Alone 2019, saying she never expected this kind of reaction, she doesn't like everyone hating on James, she just wants this all to die out. The general consensus is Tati is acting like the victim in this video, when she clearly is the one benefiting and she should know what happens when you make serious accusations about other people. Read the comments below her video, people are annoyed with Tati. She's also unlisted the original video (meaning the link will still work, but you won't see it in her video list). May 18th: James uploads his response. It's another 40 minute video. Basically, he has some pretty solid evidence that the stories that Tati told were blown out proportion and she knew they were untrue. He says the screenshots that straight guys have put out are all real (there's one story of James sexually assaulting someone, that person has admitted she was lying), but it was never more than one or two messages and he didn't push anything. He calls out the community for being homophobic, when he sends guys "hey you look cute" it's harassment, but when a straight girl does it, it's not a problem (for example Zara Larsson, who said that James was hitting on her straight boyfriend, met that boyfriend by tweeting him "hi you're cute, how do you like your eggs in the morning"). James rebuts a lot of other claims in his video (with tooooons of screenshots), but the TL;DW is that he wasn't actually creepy to any one person (although he agrees that after seeing all the straight boy dms at once, he needs to stop), Tati was manipulating inside jokes and scenarios that she knew could be twisted to make him look bad (James shows multiple text messages with his friends, including Tati, where they use 'famous' ironically. Like one example is a friend sends a pic, along with a comment that they're famous now because the outfit looks cute), the story that Tati tells about the waiter is insanely incorrect (it wasn't their waiter, he wasn't straight, he actually hung out with James that night and they fooled around). Lastly, James calls out Jeffree Star for the shit that he sent to James when he found out. Jeffree threatened him, told him he was getting all of his friends together to make videos on how much they hate James, told him that James's brother left LA because he couldn't stand James, etc. James shows that Jeffree wasn't acting like this at all to him until Tati made the video and it became cool to hate James. May 19th: Jeffree Star uploads his video. If you've ever heard one of Jeffree's apology videos, this is nothing new. He shouldn't have sent those messages, he shouldn't have believed the rumors that people were spreading, he didn't lie in anything he said but he shouldn't have said it, he's sorry to get dragged into drama, etc etc. Update Aftermath James's channel is now gaining back subscribers, not as fast as he lost them, but pretty close. He had lost 3 million and he's back up 1.5 million so far. Tati is dipping into the red - she gained 5.6 million and she's now lost 300k. I assume she'll keep losing people, as people who only subscribed for the bandwagon lose interest. Jeffree lost 50k subscribers after James's video, but Jeffree stans are like cockroaches, somehow they never quite die. submitted by /u/Dauchy to r/HobbyDrama [link] [comments]
