Yep, and for no perceptible benefit, at least not here or to this tongue. My current barbaric method is rubber bands and the bag the coffee came in. No parceling out. What’s the best coffee grinder for home use that’s actually worth buying?
I’ve been looking into getting a coffee grinder, but I didn’t realize how many options there were until I started searching. Every list seems to recommend something different, and it’s hard to tell what’s actually good versus what just looks good in reviews. I mostly want something for home use that can give a consistent grind and make a noticeable difference in the taste of the coffee. I’m not trying to build some super fancy coffee setup, but I also don’t want to waste money on a grinder that’s noisy, messy, inconsistent, or dies after a few months. I’d rather get something solid from the start, whether it’s better for drip coffee, pour over, French press, or even espresso if that matters. For people who’ve actually used a few, what’s the best coffee grinder you’d recommend? I’d love to know what made it worth it, whether it was easy to use, and if there are any models I should avoid. submitted by /u/Key_Promotion_5015 to r/pourover [link] [comments]

Best coffee grinder in 2026 for home? My Budget $100–$300
I’m finally upgrading my home setup but the 2026 market is a total minefield. I’ve got a strict $100–$300 budget and I'm stuck between the "safe" picks and the new hype. From what I’ve gathered lately: Baratza Encore ESP: Seems like the reliability king if you're in the US or Canada. The warranty and parts are super easy to find there. DF54: Really tempting me with those flat burrs for better flavor clarity. It’s making a lot of noise on Reddit right now. Fellow Opus: Looks the best on the counter and that anti-static tech is a win for workflow, but is the adjustment ring actually a pain for daily espresso? Varia VS3 Gen 2: I’ve seen this recommended in the UK/Europe for zero retention, but is it worth the extra cash? I’m mostly doing pour-overs and the occasional latte. Has anyone found a "hidden gem" on Amazon lately that I’m missing? Or should I just stop overthinking and pull the trigger on the DF54? Trying to avoid that buyer's remorse! Any advice would be a lifesaver. submitted by /u/Proud-Influence-8504 to r/JamesHoffmann [link] [comments]

Top electric grinders on Reddit by positive & negative comments - for entry lvl espresso vs light roast espresso vs multiple brew methods etc. Based on 652 posts in the past year (Mar 2026)
Had a lot of requests for grinders from my post on espresso machines, so here it is! The charts show how many people (across all of reddit in the past year) mentioned each espresso machine positively, negatively, or in mixed light. How it's ranked: Final rankings use a combination of Wilson Score (same algo behind Reddit’s “Best” sort, Amazon’s “Top Reviews”, Steam’s game ratings etc) and net positive volume. So both volume and consistent sentiment are needed to rank. A machine with only 1 review that happens to be good (100% positive) won’t outrank one with 100 good reviews. Idea is to show what’s most discussed and consistently supported vs critiqued. Less about what is "best", and more about what's most tried and tested. Hopefully it a useful data point esp for folks who dk where to start. What's best for you depends on your use case: Different people have different needs, so I’ve segmented the mentions by relevance to a handful of use cases to make it more meaningful (swipe images to see) Use case Example comment Entry-level espresso ... I got the DF54 V2 a week and a half ago. Super easy to dial in and use with my Breville Bambino...I am getting vitually 0 retention. Occaisionally .1 or .2 grams and often none ... My only complaint would be the power button could be a little more sensitive. Other than that, I am 100% satisfied with how easy to use and how consistent the grinder is ... u/Intrepid_Elk_9048 (source) Light roast espresso ...I can now taste the different flavours and can grind fine enough for lights and decaf (was basically at chirp in old grinder ). My coffee tastes more alive now - it’s bright and even with the i200D burrs, I still get a good amount of body. It’s also excellent at changing between espresso and pour-over as in retention is near zero so no purging needed... u/Espresso-Newbie (source) Multiple brew methods ... easy as cake to dial in and switch to pour over, moka, drip, and back to espresso, which is required by my household ... u/emogu84 (source) Pour-over clarity However if you're not interested at all in espresso then the Fellow Ode 2 is probably the best option here for filter coffee. It has flat burrs instead of the conical burrs you usually get in hand grinders and common electric grinders - and many people prefer flat burrs for filter coffee because they tend to produce a more uniform grind size, which can lead to a cleaner tasting cup with more clarity. u/08TangoDown08 (source) Additional notes: Mentions are deduplicated - each person is only counted once, no matter how many repeat raves Non specific mentions get divided between models - e.g. “I love my Encore” is split between the Encore ESP and regular Encore. I did use LLMs to help analyze the large volume of data - it wouldn't have been possible to do so manually. I hope this doesn't break the recent rules! It's more about the data than anything else though. Thoughts? Anything that seems surprising or off? submitted by /u/heyyyjoo to r/espresso [link] [comments]

Help me choose a coffee grinder!! [$500 budget]
I understand the budget range is wide from these 5 screenshots, either way I’m finally able to buy a new grinder & need help! - If anything, pls comment your dream setup and why. I use the OXO conical burr and it’s aight. Thoughts on the grinders ft in these screenshots, any grinder by miicoffee, DF64, Baratza (literally any model), fellow ode or opus??? Zerno is one i love to dream of owning one day…. - I do make all types of coffee: moccamaster, pour over, espresso (breville for now……smh), mokapot, French press and cold brew. Lattes shots or americanos you name it. I use a scale and my Fellow Stagg for temp approx…. Always rotating coffee types/grind size, so an all-in-one grinder would be ideal. Zero preference in brand, prob best to keep under $500 lol, not into any commercial type product, and would love/prefer to have espresso included so I just have to buy one (so Fellow Ode out unless it’s worth having…? 👀) Obv tight-ish budget for some pros, but slowly and surely could be convinced it’s worth increasing $ one step at a time!😂 Any and all advice would greatly help 😍thank you! submitted by /u/Spiritual-Snow179 to r/espresso [link] [comments]

TIFU by looking at my coffee grinder
I've been using this grinder every day for like 4 years. It's a semi-manual one where you press a button with the portafilter to make it go. Probably about a year after getting it I noticed when you first press the button it likes to build up a bit of grind before it starts coming out. I just assumed it had always done that, and confidently moved on with my life. Today I used it and after a longer-than-usual build up, it dropped a clump of grind with a string connecting the clump to the inside of the spout. Curious for a change, I put the portafilter down and slipped the spout cover off, noticing there were more strings in there all quivering with little bits of coffee grinds stuck to them. I thought, "Oh no! Did a wee lil spider get in there overnight?" Like Pandora on that fateful day, I could not contain my new-found curiosity. Much to the detriment of my vassals I got a torch, turned it over, and learned that inside my trusty coffee grinder was not just one wee lil spider, but a multi-generational society inside a vast structure that would put the people of Derinkuyu to shame. There was evidence that they had accounted for the downpour of grains that no-doubt played a key role in the folklore among their people. They had built a spout inside the spout, and it was inside the walls of their spout that they had lived. Until the day came when their structure could no longer bear up to the bean tsunami that I would inflict upon them, in my infinite wisdom. So now here I am. Would I be happier if I never knew? As it stands, today I am a person that, in one fell swoop, managed to dismantle a thriving community of living beings, right along with my own sense of surety and the belief that I have any level of vigilance that's keeping me safe from harm. TL;DR I've been drinking coffee straight out of a spider's arsehole for no less than 3 years. submitted by /u/Naboolio_TheEnigma to r/tifu [link] [comments]

Cloves in coffee grinder nightmare- please help
Hello, as the title suggests, one of my housemates decided it was a good idea to use my coffee grinder to grind up some cloves. The scent is pungent and makes the coffee undrinkable. So far, I have tried the following: -Wash all removable parts with dish soap and hot water (plastic hopper, top burr) several times, as well as using isopropyl alcohol -Used a hoover & brush to remove large grains -Grind through some rolled oats But, it seems no matter what I try, the smell/taste of cloves is unaffected. What can I do? Is it worth forking out for coffee grinder cleaning tablets or is the clove just too strong? submitted by /u/SheepherderFew1199 to r/Coffee [link] [comments]

Hi guys, as the title says I'm looking for a good quality coffee grinder, Im thinking manual and not electronic since I guess those are less likely to damage but I don't know. I started practicing opera at 6 AM because my neighbor complained about my "noisy" coffee grinder
I (28F) have lived in my apartment for about 2 years now. Every morning, I grind fresh coffee beans around 7:30 AM before work - it takes maybe 30 seconds, tops. Never had a single complaint until the new guy moved in next door 4 months ago. This dude (probably mid-40s) works nights apparently, but instead of talking to me like a normal person, he started leaving passive-aggressive notes under my door. First it was "SOME PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO SLEEP." Then "The coffee grinder is EXCESSIVE." Finally, last month, he escalated to filing a formal noise complaint with the landlord. The landlord laughed it off since 7:30 AM is well within reasonable hours, but Prince Charming next door didn't stop there. He started banging on the walls whenever I used ANY kitchen appliance. Blender? BANG BANG. Microwave beeping? BANG BANG BANG. So I decided if he wants to play the noise game, I'll play. Turns out I took opera lessons in college and still remember most of the vocals. Now I practice scales and arias every morning at 6 AM sharp - completely legal quiet hours end at 6 in our building. The best part? When he came pounding on my door last week screaming about the singing, I innocently told him I'm "pursuing my passion" and that "music is meant to be shared." He tried filing another complaint but the landlord told him that practicing music during daytime hours is perfectly acceptable. I've been doing this for 3 weeks now. This morning I started learning Wagner. Those pieces are REALLY long. Petty? Absolutely. But hey, at least my vocal range is improving. submitted by /u/StatueOfFashion to r/pettyrevenge [link] [comments]

Wanted: Quality grinder at (relatively) affordable price
Hi! I looked through the old posts but didn't find anything newer than 4 years ago, so I thought I would pose the question fresh. My husband loves fresh coffee, to the extent that since I've known him he always grinds fresh beans every day, uses local beans, and either uses a French press or a pour over method to make his coffee every morning. He has expressed interest in upgrading his cheap blade grinder (sorry if the terminology is wrong) and wants to upgrade to a burr grinder. I have $150-$175 to spend on him for Christmas. Any recommendations on which grinder is the best option? I looked at the Baratza in that price range, but I saw a number of reviews that said the grinder broke within a year. It's hard to tell what is user error and what is actual defect. I also looked at a Cuisinart option for 1/3 the price and it looked nice, but I also feel like a brand like Baratza that sells $800+ grinders probably knows a thing or two and the lower model will still be worth it. I'll take any guidance I can get. I don't drink coffee myself so I have to rely on others to tell me what's actually good. TIA!! Update: thank you all so much for your help and advice! The coffee sub is really a welcoming place! I'll be checking out the Baratza site for their refurbished options and if that doesn't work out I'll check out the Encore. Thank you all so much!! submitted by /u/puff_pastry_1307 to r/Coffee [link] [comments]
