This is a pipe dream but I wish they'd build a retro model. Give us a Classic Coke 2,800 lb analog smaller manual car with HP similar to a 993. Our 4th car is a Toyota GR86 and it reminds me more of the 1987 Carrera I daily drove for 6 years than the new 911's do. Not Able To Pull Proper Shot, Tastes Sour [Delonghi EC155] with [K6 Manual Grinder]
I am currently using a medium-dark roast and grinding between 20-35 clicks on the K6. I’ve been staying at a relatively consistent weight of 13-15g coffee. I think I’ve had the most success around 14g of coffee that I used. But my shot always drips out of the non-bottomless portafilter. I’ve been doing a pretty consistent 1:2 ratio, but because the shots drip out extraction is taking around 1 minute long. I try and preinfuse for 5s prior to full extraction. But after the shot my puck has consistently been soggy submitted by /u/LeChefSan to r/espresso [link] [comments]

Best cheap coffee grinder for aeropress? Can be manual or electric
I'm an engineering student, so naturally I'm skint with a coffee addiction, currently using an aeropress and trying to get a grinder, just cause it'll probably improve the flavour, while allowing me to get big cheap bags of beans without worrying too much about them going stale which might offset some of the expense. Obviously doesn't need to be as fine as espresso, but still I'd rather it went fairly fine submitted by /u/JDfuckingVance to r/UKFrugal [link] [comments]

Aashone coffee grinder first impression (sort of)
Got this aashone grinder from Amazon for 2349/-, You can get it at 2k if you buy from directly on instagram. They have the replies late so got it off of amazon. The build quality: All metal body. Firm, no flex at any part. The handle is smooth and the wooden tip thingy is good to hold on to. I have tried grinding 20 gms for the first time and it did not get any hotter. The grinding experience: For reference, I have never used any manual grinder yet, so take it as grain of salt. At first it takes a little more force to rotate the handle and gradually it becomes easier because they beans get grinned. I can not compare it to the Timemore C3s or 2S but so far as a grinder it looks & feels solid. I believe it can grind it even finer than this. Click setting: I have set it to 12 clicks as the manual says, but from the taste of the Moka pot espresso, I think I need to grind it finer than 12clicks. Coffee taste and make: I have made a cup of espresso with this 12 click grind, photo attached. The last photo with the black spoon is there for comparison with Araku Selection Fine grind (bought pre-ground). Coffee: Tulum Barbaara, Medium Dark roast. So, the taste turned out to be little bitter and little bit of sour than normal pre ground from Tulum. I don't actually know why it tasted both muddy and sour at the same time. I will try 14 clicks tomorrow. Let's see how it turns out tomorrow. I will update the post again. Thanks and lemme know if you want to anything from me about this grinder. Also I have put some video links on G Drive if you want to see it in action. This is the Link submitted by /u/Round_List1857 to r/IndiaCoffee [link] [comments]

Which coffee manual grinder should I pick?
Hello, everyone! I'm a beginner in this field, and I usually brew myself a V60 or AeroPress. I currently have a Hario Mini Black Pro coffee grinder. I wouldn't say it's a bad coffee grinder; it's a pretty good option for the price, especially for beginners. It's very difficult to mess up an AeroPress with it (it's difficult to mess up an AeroPress in general), but the V60 doesn't always turn out well. I experimented with different grind settings, making it quite coarse, but then the coffee turned out very watery, and with a grind of less than 250 ml, the water flowed for about 4 minutes, sometimes clogging up and taking 5-6 minutes to drain. I am currently considering purchasing a new coffee grinder. I plan to use it for Pourovers and AeroPresses, but I also think that I may become interested in espresso over time, so I am considering various options, but I want one from 1zpresso. At first, I was considering the Q2s, as it is not a particularly expensive option and would be a good choice overall for its price, but then I fell in love with the appearance, functionality, and ergonomics of the X-ultra and decided to increase my budget for it. What are your thoughts on the X-ultra for such needs? What is your experience with using the X-ultra? submitted by /u/Ok-Cash-9666 to r/pourover [link] [comments]

TIFU by looking at my coffee grinder
I've been using this grinder every day for like 4 years. It's a semi-manual one where you press a button with the portafilter to make it go. Probably about a year after getting it I noticed when you first press the button it likes to build up a bit of grind before it starts coming out. I just assumed it had always done that, and confidently moved on with my life. Today I used it and after a longer-than-usual build up, it dropped a clump of grind with a string connecting the clump to the inside of the spout. Curious for a change, I put the portafilter down and slipped the spout cover off, noticing there were more strings in there all quivering with little bits of coffee grinds stuck to them. I thought, "Oh no! Did a wee lil spider get in there overnight?" Like Pandora on that fateful day, I could not contain my new-found curiosity. Much to the detriment of my vassals I got a torch, turned it over, and learned that inside my trusty coffee grinder was not just one wee lil spider, but a multi-generational society inside a vast structure that would put the people of Derinkuyu to shame. There was evidence that they had accounted for the downpour of grains that no-doubt played a key role in the folklore among their people. They had built a spout inside the spout, and it was inside the walls of their spout that they had lived. Until the day came when their structure could no longer bear up to the bean tsunami that I would inflict upon them, in my infinite wisdom. So now here I am. Would I be happier if I never knew? As it stands, today I am a person that, in one fell swoop, managed to dismantle a thriving community of living beings, right along with my own sense of surety and the belief that I have any level of vigilance that's keeping me safe from harm. TL;DR I've been drinking coffee straight out of a spider's arsehole for no less than 3 years. submitted by /u/Naboolio_TheEnigma to r/tifu [link] [comments]

How does a manual grinder like this one compare to an automatic, in your experience? [No budget]
Hi all! Long time listener, first time caller. I’m a cafe barista with four years of experience. Two of those years were at Starbucks, and two were at a local cafe close to where I lived in Florida, and now I’m working at another local cafe after moving to the midcoast area Maine. I normally enjoy iced drinks, iced lattes are really my preference. If I’m making it for myself, it’s a strong iced latte with extra ice. I like to add a bit of sugar in the raw, just half a teaspoon, just for a hint of sweetness. Occasionally, I’ll just pull myself a shot of espresso and drink it black, but that’s only when I don’t have a lot of time. To me, when I make coffee at home, it’s about the ritual of it. So much of the coffee I make at work is rushed, those seconds counted, that at home, I want to take my time with it, enjoy it. Let the machine heat up, clear the steam wand a bit extra, make sure my grounds are evenly distributed, the like. As a Florida native, I didn’t like coffee until I realised it could be cold. Something about drinking hot coffee when it’s hotter than the devils armpit outside just didn’t appeal to me. Now that I live in Maine, I’m interested to see if my tastes change with the weather. I might be persuaded to try something hot. I make coffee for my Dad, and he only drinks hot drinks, normally he’s a hot latte person. I currently have a Gaggia classic, it’s an older model, probably around 2011. I purchased it at a garage sale for $30, took it all apart, replaced the cracked boiler, and now I’m super excited to have a home espresso machine. Now that that’s all out of the way, how does a manual grinder compare to an automatic grinder? I currently don’t have the budget for an automatic grinder (although I am saving up), so I’ve been buying pre-ground beans, although I know you’ll never get the same taste from them. I’m young, I don’t have a problem with putting in a bit of grunt work to get my coffee in the morning, but is it ridiculously hard to use a manual grinder like this? It’s (obviously) a much cheaper option. Is this a good tool to have? Can it replace an automatic grinder if I don’t mind a bit of work, or is this a piece of junk, and I should I hold out for an automatic grinder? submitted by /u/YardIights to r/espresso [link] [comments]

Sanity Check on paying $1000 for a Plastic Free Coffee and Grinder setup
Hey ya'll, I'm looking into getting a plastic free drip-coffee and bean grinder setup. I'm prioritizing ease-of-use; I know that if I get a manual grinder and a manual coffee maker like a french press or pour-over, it's going to end up collecting dust in my cabinets. The cheapest automatic setup I've been able to find with no plastic touching the beans or water comes out to about $1000. Grinder: https://www.option-o.com/shop/p/lagom-casa ~$550 Drip Brewer: https://simplygoodcoffee.com/products/the-brewer-plastic-free ~$450 Is there a cheaper setup than this, such as some entry level commercial machines that aren't widely marketed? I feel a little insane for even thinking about spending $1K on a drip coffee setup. EDIT: I appreciate the "have you tried... ?" suggestions, but an automatic drip truly is my preference. EDIT 2: Tried a percolator. It's a pain to clean and the coffee is pretty inconsistent. Going to try a Chemex with an electric kettle next. Still haven't pulled the trigger because it still feels totally insane to spend $1000 for a coffee setup. EDIT 3: Ended up just getting into pour-overs. Still keeping an eye out for a plastic free drip maker, but not getting my hopes up. submitted by /u/organic-integrity to r/PlasticFreeLiving [link] [comments]

Manual grinder recommendation?
Sorry to add to the number of grinder recommendation posts, but I’d still love to hear everyone’s advice. My budget is probably $150 AUD (about $100 USD) max. I was hoping to upgrade my old Breville machine for espresso-based drinks, but I’ve decided that for the somewhat tight situation I’m in now, I’ll stick to pour overs on my V60 and buy a new manual grinder (Less milk is better for me anyway haha). I did have a Baratza Encore which I would’ve stuck with, but I’m in an apartment now with pretty thin walls - and I usually only make one cup at a time, so I’d prefer manual anyway. Based on some other posts I’ve looked at the KINGrider K6 and some Normcore ones. I don’t mind spending near the upper end of my budget if it’s a significant/valuable difference between cheaper ones. Also if anyone has a recommendation for an electric kettle in a similar budget please let me know. Thanks all! submitted by /u/lypura to r/pourover [link] [comments]

Any specific recommendations for manual grinders in 2025 for [no budget]?
Thanks for the many answers yesterday :) Just wanted to list off what I've seen scattered around my post and others (either here on reddit or on some blog) for those who actually got them to pop in and say what they must! 1zpresso was the most talked about by far, seem to have a humongous lineup! Just wouldn't know the exact difference between the models as their website kinda shrouds it in mystery not directly comparing the 11 of them. But who also peaked my interest was ... Kingrinder with their army of people swearing by the k6, the price point at $100 is just unbeatable, have heard no complaints! Also thanks to u/dadudster for responding on a 2 year old thread within one hour to tell me that the POTU flat burr on Aliexpress was not half bad and gets some nice results especially for light roasts. Timemore was a name thrown around a few times, but was among Comandante and Kinu with the least opinions on them - at least from what I've seen and read :-) Are y'all passionate about any of these grinders, are any DEFINITELY worth the purchase over any other or better and more frivolous yet: did I forget any? :D Let me know, I'm curious. submitted by /u/idontdodrugs69 to r/espresso [link] [comments]

I analyzed Reddit for the 10 most recommended electric coffee grinders on r/espresso in the past year
I’ve been doing analysis on reddit data and was looking at the most recommended electric coffee grinders on r/espresso. Thought I’d share the results. Its part of a side project of mine to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. My goal was to create something useful for the community while practicing my dev skills. The analysis aims to highlight the most well reviewed electric coffee grinders - a very rough proxy for what’s widely considered the best electric coffee grinders. Hopefully it is a useful data point for those overwhelmed by all the information out there. Methodology: I used Google and Reddit search (filtered for the past year for freshness) to source for discussions on electric coffee grinders in r/espresso. From the top results I analyzed a total of 63 relevant threads and used LLMs to extract opinions and perform sentiment analysis. To rank the models, I calculated the normalized difference and ratio between the no. of positive and negative user sentiments, and used that to determine the final score for ranking. Handling and merging different model namings, brands, abbreviations etc is non trivial (e.g. DF54 is one model but sold by different brands) so a 100% LLM approach wasn’t sufficient. I did some eyeballing and manual clean up but there may still be mistakes. Let me know if you spot anything wrong or surprising. For those interested in, the source data (i.e. comments analyzed) and individual sentiment analysis can be found on RedditRecs dot com (or google RedditRecs) submitted by /u/heyyyjoo to r/espresso [link] [comments]

So let me get this straight. Good manual grinder = Grind quality of $1000 electric grinder but electric grinder of same price of good manual grinder = inferior grind quality?
I feel like a lot of videos compare electric with electric and manuals with manuals. I get it they’re separate categories but when we’re communicating about grind quality and such this is where the confusion sets in for me. It seems that it’s insinuated that a good manual grinder can produce the same grind quality as perhaps an $800-$1000 electric grinder due to it not having any of those electric components. So at that price of the electric - are you just paying for workflow and convenience? What about manual hand grinders give good grind quality compared to the electric grinders of the same price? Is it the burrs? Because you cut down on the cost of the electric components you can have better burrs? Maybe I’m off the rails about this but what’s the deal? submitted by /u/Lilylolxoxoxo to r/Coffee [link] [comments]
