LifeTrend Solitude Cold plunge from Costco HELP Electric bill!
Hello, I live in SWFL and got the Lifetrend Solitude cold plunge / hot tub for my lanai. I've had it less than 5 days and checked my kilowatt utilization and it was 113 kWh which on a normal day previously hovers around 49 even with using my infrared sauna for about an hour. I saw online that some people said you can control it via an app and wifi but this model has none of those options. Please help me to figure out how I can keep this plunge safe and economical (clean water). I'd like to plunge daily around 6am-7am at 50 degrees. I don't want it to sit stagnant all day and grow bacteria but also don't want to fight all day to stay at temp and there's no remote way to set up a scheduled. I'm about to send it back (which would be a totally different nightmare) but I can't have a triple electric bill. I'll just keep my cold plunge membership that would be way more affordable. Thx for any and all help. submitted by /u/Responsible-Cry-1779 to r/coldplunge [link] [comments]

Cold plunge business recs
What’s a cold plunge business that actually keeps their tubs clean and not hundreds of dollars a month? It really helps my body to use one. Deep freezer style with no drainage is a pass. I tried one membership that let people dripping in sauna sweat go into the plunges so that's what I am avoiding. I don’t have a bathtub to put ice in or space for a plunge. submitted by /u/PracticalWitness8475 to r/StPetersburgFL [link] [comments]

The hidden costs of cold plunging
I just discovered the hidden costs of cold plunges that nobody seems to talk about: the electric bill. My cold plunge costs $50-100/month in electricity. When researching, most people described the shift in electricity as pretty negligible; but my energy bill had gone way up. I analyzed my bill when my cold plunge was on vs off and here's what I found out. Phase 1: An Ice Barrel 400 + 1/2 Active Aqua chiller, set on my roof in San Francisco. The problem was no insulation. The chiller ran nonstop and so I purchased a smart plug so I could schedule it to only chill at night, while the pump was continuous. This was costing me $100+/month. Phase 2: I switched to a Plunge Pod for the insulation- thinking the energy savings would cover the splurge. The problem is the Plunge is designed to run 24/7. There's no chiller scheduling in the app. So even with the insulation, chiller will detect a 1 degree drop and turn back on, which means it's still running frequently throughout the day to maintain an exact temp. At PG&E's rates (~$0.47-0.52/kWh on time-of-use), that's about $88/month in electricity just for the plunge. If Plunge were to update their app with a scheduling feature, so the pump could run 24/7, I could schedule chilling to happen at night and my costs would drop to an estimated $50/month ($38/month savings). TL;DR Cold plunges can easily cost over $1k/year in energy. A $30 smart plug on a schedule, paired with an insulated tub, will save you hundreds per year compared to uninsulated setups or always-on brands like Plunge. submitted by /u/slicenger7 to r/coldplunge [link] [comments]

Cold Plunge Water Maintenance: What Actually Works (From a Technician
Cold plunge water maintenance — what actually works vs what's overkill (from someone who maintains these professionally) I maintain cold plunge systems in Dubai where ambient temps hit 45°C+. If you can keep water clean here, you can keep it clean anywhere. Here's my honest breakdown: The 80/20 of water maintenance: The single most impactful thing you can do: shower before every plunge. Not a quick rinse — an actual soap-and-water shower. Your skin oils, sweat, sunscreen, and hair products are the #1 food source for bacteria. This alone extends water life by 40-50%. The minimum viable protocol (no chiller system): Change water every 3-5 days (non-negotiable without filtration) Cover the tub immediately after use Add 1-2 tbsp hydrogen peroxide (3%) after each session Scrub tub walls weekly — biofilm builds even when water looks clean With a basic chiller + filter: Change water every 6-8 weeks Clean/rinse filter cartridges monthly Replace filter cartridges every 3-6 months depending on usage Test pH weekly (target 7.2-7.6) and chlorine/bromine (1-3 ppm) Drain, scrub, refill quarterly What's overkill for home users: Full commercial ozone systems (effective but expensive and unnecessary under 4 users/day) Multiple chemical dosing systems (bromine + chlorine + algaecide — pick one primary sanitizer) UV sterilizers over 40W for a single-person tub (a 16-25W unit is plenty) What's NOT overkill: A circulation pump — even a cheap aquarium pump. Stagnant water grows bacteria 10x faster than moving water A basic cartridge filter. Even a $30 inline filter makes a huge difference A cover. Seriously. Debris + sunlight = algae party The Dubai-specific challenge: When ambient temp is 45°C, an uninsulated tub loses cold within hours. Bacterial growth accelerates above 20°C. This means: Insulation matters more than the chiller size Run your chiller during off-peak electricity hours (night) If you're in a hot climate, a chiller isn't optional — ice is a losing battle. AED 1,500-2,200/month for a rental chiller vs $300-500/month in ice. Math speaks for itself. Red flags to drain immediately: Cloudy water (don't just add chemicals — start fresh) Any smell (healthy cold water should have zero odor) Slimy walls (biofilm has established — scrub + refill) Skin irritation after plunging (bacterial contamination likely) Happy to answer specific questions about your setup. submitted by /u/Euphoriumhq to r/coldplunge [link] [comments]

Finally did it - Grizzly 450 cold plunge DIY & build list / photos
Started researching this project over a year ago, got the Grizzly cooler over the winter, and slowly started accumulating parts and knowledge. Finally finished this thing and had my first plunge over the weekend. Total cost: $1778. Biggest cost savings came from picking up the cooler on sale locally, and buying the Active Aqua 1/4 HP chiller secondhand / open box. If you are not in a hurry, you can find deals on it. I made a bunch of mistakes along the way, especially not understanding how the ozone needed to go after the chiller. Had to redo the plumbing after realizing that, which was very annoying. I considered, instead of redoing all my plumbing, cutting out the ozone venturi line, and installing a standalone ozone generator (Jed 303) like what Desert Plunge and Modtub have, but I read that you have to replace the ozone generator every 2-3 years anyway, and the Jed 303 is much more expensive than the Ambohr SPA that I have on venturi. I didn't want a system where I'd have to replace a $300-$400 part every few years, so I just sucked it up and redid my plumbing to keep the venturi in place. Hardest thing for me was mapping out which direction the water was going, and the order of the components. I diagrammed this and provide the build list in the link, below (EDIT - will add link in comments, reddit won't let me put it here). I hope this helps people not to make my same mistakes. (Sorry, I forgot to take a photo of the final plumbing before I filled up the tub, and don't have enough clearance to get a clear photo of it now, but I found another plumbing setup photo and marked it up to show the order that I recommend placing everything.) submitted by /u/dhjyoo to r/coldplunge [link] [comments]

Turning a bathtub into a cold plunge pool
Hi, we have a guest bathroom with a bathtub that hardly ever gets used. In the next room, there’s a freezer where I can easily make ice cubes or ice packs. I found some ice packs on Amazon, but they seem a bit flimsy to me... (im from Europe, fyi): https://www.amazon.de/LIVIKING%C2%AE-Eisw%C3%BCrfelbeutel-Eisbad-Eistonne-EISMENGEN-Tabelle/dp/B0D53Z8933/ref=mp\_s\_a\_1\_1\_sspa?crid=2Z51TYKF6YYHM&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.-2\_ix2ae3qts9cq7gCx5aRv0WtI5rHids9GFnUZ0wQDeN247s1baTFDGJT38ZOKo5OTASl-pOcCbKZC4Lp3CqreuE--TB4i3UXTEVhvDOOJ89fnsHszA55n80cILA8CQya6As8q0FJ5HSC1EeqBPU1xOltS88ftdtYJtSJJQYNteR2OrEVKSRRsX-ILOKRy7mtJvk0xqrHT9enWfuIeFyw.pTJlimn3XBGznoKGVZhJfUk928\_uT-UyaMGXdSQIdFg&dib\_tag=se&keywords=Eisbad+beutel&qid=1774722029&sprefix=eisbad+beutel+%2Caps%2C151&sr=8-1-spons&aref=MT0wG2cq8k&sp\_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1 1) Is there a DIY version for ice packs? I mean something along those lines. 2) If I put these in the tub in the evening, will the temperature still be sufficient the next morning? Sanity Check My AirBnb Cold Plunge
Setting up my DIY cold plunge for my AirBnb. Hoping for sanity check/ feedback on my planned system. It will be mounted outside the building. Since it's for an AirBnb, filtration and sanitation are top priority. My goal is only needing to change filters as needed, and the water maybe quarterly, i.e. very LOW maintenance. There is a shower right next to the plunge with a sign requiring guests to rinse before plunging (I know not everyone will comply). Plumbing will all be done in 3/4" PEX bc I'm familiar with that. Best vertical insulated cold plunge
I’ve read all the posts and watched the YT videos and wondering if anyone wants to weigh in. I’ve had a soft sided vertical plunge and chiller from Titan for 6 months. It’s been working really well. Currently in the garage in NH. Want to get an upgraded setup and keep it in my basement. I think that will make it more user friendly for me and especially for my wife and kids who hate going into the cold garage to get into cold water. Since it’s in the basement, I want to limit condensation and the risk of leaks. Looking for the “best” insulated tub and chiller setup. I’m very willing to do a DIY Maus/opensourcecoldplunge setup if that’s what people think is best, or go with a tub and chiller bundle. Looking for an insulated tub, vertical or hybrid type setup, with the least likelihood of leaking. Want to be able to fully submerge without overflowing the tub. Metal fittings or very heavy duty plastic as opposed to the chincy plastic would be a plus to limit any leaks. Ive looked at IB 500, Nordic wave hybrid, the plunge pod, cold creek tubs, etc… submitted by /u/Significant_Poet_245 to r/coldplunge [link] [comments]

‘Affordable, approachable’ Nordic pursuits — Sauna, cold plunge business Saunic expands to second Winnipeg location in early 2026
Sauna, cold plunge and community. That’s what an entrepreneurial Winnipeg couple says their business offers. Saunic co-founders Kyle Silva and Dani Boily say they were inspired by their travels through Finland, Sweden and Denmark. They fell in love with how Nordic countries approach sauna culture as a communal pursuit, unlike North America, where many view it as a quiet, personal activity. “People are communicating, they’re talking and they’re engaging and they have a lot of fun within the spaces of saunas and cold plunges,” said Silva, 33. “So we wanted to try bringing that to our home city here in Winnipeg.” Saunic aims to be a third space, Boily added — an environment where people can connect outside of their homes or work. “It was really important to make it affordable and more approachable as well, like somewhere you can go just to hang out,” said Boily, 32. “It’s hard to find places (where) you can go hang out with people (that don’t revolve) around drinking or spending a lot of money.” The duo opened Saunic’s first location in August. Located at 398 Daly St. N on the same property as Low Life Barrel House, the semi-outdoor space includes two saunas: a wood-burning sauna large enough for six to eight people, and an electric sauna that seats 15 to 20 people. In the spring, summer and fall, there are four cold plunge tubs, plus two relaxation areas. “It’s really your typical Nordic cycle,” Boily said. “So you use the hot, the cold and then relax.” Customers pay around $40 for a 110-minute session, allowing them to repeat the cycle three to five times. Proponents of what is known as contrast therapy say it reduces inflammation, boots the immune system, improves circulation, relieves stress and enhances sleep quality. Now, Silva and Boily are preparing to open a second, indoor location at 665 Stafford St. They have been renovating the space for the past year and plan to have it open by April 1. It will include an electric sauna large enough to accommodate 35 people, and three cold plunge tubs — two that can hold up to two people and one that can hold as many as four. The location includes a large basement the entrepreneurs call “the den.” They envision it as a multi-purpose space that will host wellness events related to yoga and meditation, and potentially comedy shows and crafting events. It will also be available to rent for private functions. Silva, who has a background in corporate finance, and Boily, who works in marketing, have invested more than $1 million into the two locations so far. The couple say they interviewed dozens of sauna and cold plunge manufacturers before settling on companies that aligned with their vision to create something using natural materials that aren’t treated with chemicals. The couple spent 2022 to 2024 working remotely and visiting 30 different countries. The decor inside the Stafford Street location will be inspired by their travels, particularly the time they spent in Morocco and Portugal, where Silva’s family is originally from. “We tried to make it obviously very attractive to our guests, but also have a lot of meaning to us,” Silva said. “We’re hoping when we go in there we can feel a sense of our journey together getting to this point.” Silva and Boily initially envisioned opening their Stafford Street storefront first, but approached Low Life Barrel House about starting a location there after being impressed with the brewery and winery’s efforts to host wellness-focused community-building events, including a run club, bike club and pop-up workouts. The couple thought a business offering saunas and cold plunge tubs would pair well with Low Life’s events. Low Life owner Adam Carson says he was skeptical when the couple first approached him, but he quickly warmed up to the idea. “It seemed like a unique thing to draw more people to our space,” Carson said. “And we thought we could help them by (encouraging) people who are coming to these fitness (events) to kind of go right next door and enjoy the services that they had as well.” It’s been a “very easy and very seamless” partnership, he added. Saunic’s Daly Street location is closed for the next two months, but will reopen at the beginning of March. The Stafford Street location will follow a few weeks later. Silva and Boily employ four people, a number they anticipate doubling when the second location opens. The couple is also looking to expand the brand beyond Winnipeg, Silva said. “But it was so important for both of us to be able to open this in our community (first), and have it with our friends and our families (in) the city that raised us,” he said. “So that’s been really cool.” submitted by /u/Leather-Paramedic-10 to r/Winnipeg [link] [comments]

My experience after using Titan Cold Plunge for 4 months
Before anything, a few notes This was my fint full ice bath setup Everything here is my personal experience. Leave your setup in the comments, I'd like to compare. First week after purchase. The order from Titan Wellness arrived in 3 days. The packaging was clean and secure, and everything came in good shape Installation took me about an hour. The chiller had a few connections that were confusing at first, but once set up, it started cooling right away. My first session was tough The water was at 42°F and I could barely stay in for a minute. My breathing was fast, my hands and feet burned, and I couldn't focus on anything except getting out. Weeks after purchase: After a couple of weeks, I started adapting. The first 10 seconds still hurt, but it got easier I dropped the temperature little by little until I reached 39°F. The Titan Cold Plunge setup stayed consistent and didn't fluctuate in temperature. I was using it almost every day after training and noticed my musicles were less sore. My sleep improved, and I felt more clear-headed in the momings. The chiller worked fast and kapt the water cold even after back-to-back sessions. Months after purchase Around the two month mark, I noticed the chiller wasn't cooling as efficiently. I reached out to support at Titan Wellness, and Josh from the team helped me out. Turns out it was a maintenance issue, there was some det buildup in the filter. After cleaning it, the cooling went back to normal. The support was responsive and helpful, which gave me confidence in the product Now after four months, the system feels dialed in. I usually plunge 3 to 5 minutes at 39-40°F The tub still feels solid, no leaks, no fading, and the chiller keeps perfect temperature control. The difference it made in my recovery, mood, and focus has been big I used to rely on caffeine to wake up, now a morning plunge does the job better If you're thinking about buying one, this isn't a sponsored post, but I wanted to share my honest Titan Cold Plunge review because I know how confusing it is to pick the right setup. For the price, the Titan Plunge has been the best cost-benefit option I've found, strong build, steady cooling, and real US-based support If you're serious about cold therapy. I'd say Titan Wellness is a brand worth checking out. submitted by /u/Warm_Appointment7081 to r/Review [link] [comments]

IsItBullshit: Does cold plunging help boost mental clarity and muscle recovery
Cold plunging is supposed to help with muscle recovery and boost your mental clarity. Seeing lots of articles on it but it's all conflicting opinions. Now I’m genuinely curious to try it out. As someone who is trying to have a consitent wellness and exercise routine, I want to buy a plunge tub and there are so many options out there. So, is cold plunging beneficial or just hype? submitted by /u/Ashnie2827 to r/IsItBullshit [link] [comments]

Whats the best cold plunge for home?
I'm trying to figure out what the best cold plunge is to buy for home use. theres inflatable tubs, wooden barrels, and some with chillers but i got no clue which ones are actually worth it. ideally i want something that stays cold without me having to dump bags of ice in it everyday. i dont got a ton of space but i want it to actually feel like a real cold plunge and not just a bucket of water. not looking for the cheapest thing possible but i also dont wanna waste money on junk. if anybody here has found the best cold plunge for a normal person at home id love to hear what worked or what to avoid. Thanks in advance submitted by /u/throwaway9298_ to r/coldplunge [link] [comments]

If there was a wellness studio in SF with saunas & cold plunges, would you join?
REQUEST FOR OPINIONS I’ve been exploring the idea of opening a small luxury wellness/recovery studio in San Francisco and wanted to get some outside perspective. The concept is not a gym, but a space focused purely on recovery and wellness. Think: Multiple saunas Cold plunge tubs Normatec boot stations with zero gravity chairs Massage guns + stretch/mobility area The goal would be to create a membership-based space that people can use before/after workouts or just as part of their wellness routine. It would have showers to use afterwards, and would be located within a short walk from other fitness studios/gyms that don't have these services. Pricing would be structured like a gym or studio membership. Think Equinox style aesthetic but not influencery. I’m curious: Do you think there’s a market for this in SF? Would you personally be interested in something like this if it was in your neighborhood? What would make it feel worth the monthly membership to you? What would you pay for an unlimited access membership? This is a business I want as a consumer, but not sure if it's viable as an owner. But, if the people want it, I will build it! Appreciate any candid feedback. submitted by /u/Responsible-Effect59 to r/sanfrancisco [link] [comments]

New Costco Cold Plunge - Thoughts?
Costco now selling a new cold plunge all-in product. Looks like a copy of Plunge's all-in. Has anyone used it? I always found it interesting that many people considered Plunge to be top of the line when you can find all their products on Alibaba, including one that looks like their and this Costco all-in model: https://www.costco.com/lifetrend-solitude-integrated-cold-plunge--hot-soak-tub.product.4000388365.html submitted by /u/Gillius to r/coldplunge [link] [comments]

Thinking of opening a new cold plunge and sauna space in Victoria
After visiting bathhouses in New York, Seattle, and Vancouver, a few friends and I started exploring the idea of creating something similar here in Victoria. A dedicated cold plunge and sauna space that’s thoughtfully designed, community focused, and protected from the weather. We’ve found a potential location and put together some design concepts. We’ve also secured some initial investment but before moving ahead I wanted to get a sense of what locals here thought. Do you feel there’s room for something new in this space beyond what’s currently offered at Havn or Ritual? We’re open to all kinds of feedback, whether it's on the design, vibe, pricing, hours, whatever matters most to you. Right now we're thinking it would have a large communal sauna, a quiet sauna, a steam room, and two large walk in cold plunge pools. No hot tub yet... maybe we could build the lounge around one. If the community funded model works, drop in would prob be around $20 an hour. Thanks for any input you’re willing to share. Has anyone tried the Titan Cold Plunge System or Chiller? Is it worth it?
Yeah, I finally upgraded to a Titan Cold Plunge System after months of doing DIY tubs with bags of ice. Honestly, total game changer. At first, I thought, “How much better can a fancy tub and chiller really be?” Turns out—way better. The Titan system keeps the water consistently cold without constant maintenance, and the chiller is surprisingly quiet. No more dumping ice bags in like I’m prepping a seafood boil. Setup was smoother than expected, and it actually looks good in my garage—super sleek. If you’re serious about cold therapy and tired of the hassle, it’s absolutely worth it. Anyone tried using it outdoors long-term? Wondering how it holds up to weather changes. submitted by /u/Visible_Crazy_3799 to r/coldplungetherapy [link] [comments]

Cold plunge w/ unfiltered well water
I just bought a tub to do cold plunges in. About 5 minutes every night. I did it 4 days in a row (my wife and son have as well). I drain the water every night and refill it right before doing it each night. I didn’t drain it on the 4th night and the water sat all night and all day the next day. I got home from work yesterday and went to get it ready and found it like this!! The water is completely clear after each fill, but apparently after sitting it turns to this. How concerned should I be that we have been sitting in this? I have two hose spouts on my house. One that has water that goes through a water softener and filter (which is what the water inside the house uses) and one that just comes straight from the well. The latter is the one we use for all the typical things you’d use a garden hose for as it is more conveniently located and is where I mounted a retractable hose. The only reason I didn’t use the other spout is I didn’t have a second hose and I figured it would save me on the life span of the filter and the softener. So my question is, does anyone know how bad it is to sit in unfiltered well water for 5 minutes a day? submitted by /u/Independent_Mark_381 to r/homestead [link] [comments]
