Do compression socks ACTUALLY work??
Okay so I’ve been suffering from POTS symptoms for last 2 years. I have found going into work I always feel sick, nauseated and DIZZY. My worst symptom by far is the dizziness - it is completely debilitating. I’ve thought myself some good quality compression stockings up to the knee. It’s my first time trying them today. I SWEAR my dizziness has almost completely subsided. Do they really work this well? I don’t want to jinx it🤣 submitted by /u/Background-Cow9687 to r/POTS [link] [comments]

Do compression socks actually help on long flights?
We have a long flight coming up (17 hrs) and my girlfriend suggested we get compression socks to make the trip a bit more comfortable, especially since I’ve been having some leg tightness and random aches lately. I looked into it and saw mixed opinions about whether they actually help on long flights, some people say compression wraps are better. I'd love to hear your experiences. Did it help you at all or are there better alternatives we should check out? If we do end up getting them, we’re stuck between comrad and dr woof since she likes their designs. Let us know which is the better pick or if you can suggest a better brand that'll be great! submitted by /u/EmperorTauntaun to r/travel [link] [comments]

Folks who use compression socks: what do y’all do in the summer??
Obligatory “not a POTSie” disclaimer but I have some related issues that benefit from compression socks, along with a very standing-heavy lifestyle. I love my socks and since I’ve started using them my feet have been less horifically painful in the evenings and the low BP has been less problematic. Helpful all around. But. Summer is rough enough as it is. The idea of having knee high socks on in this heat and possibly long pants too (cause let’s be real, shorts and comp socks look ridiculous) makes me want to peel my skin off. What do you about it except hide inside as much as possible? Any other things that help? Do you just brave it and trade less blood pooling for being murderously hot? If anyone’s found a workaround, help a girl out 🙏🏻 I start nursing clinicals again in a month and will average about 20k steps per day in ancient non-ACd buildings and warm uniforms, and the thought alone makes me want to cry submitted by /u/wonder_wolfie to r/POTS [link] [comments]

Compression socks for long flight if I am generally healthy?
Hi! I am going for a 11 hour long flight again soon. I heard a lot recently about compression socks. Generally I don't have much problems, I am quite big in height, so flights are always uncomfortable for me but not overweight. Do compressions socks have any advantage for me if I am generally okay? My main issue on long flights is bloating (as in stomach, not other body parts) and constipation even if I drink enough water. submitted by /u/democracyfailedme to r/TravelHacks [link] [comments]

If you do one thing today, buy compression socks
UPDATE: The four pack of socks I ordered from Amazon arrived, and I do not like them nearly as much as the ones I got at the pharmacy. 8-15mmHg of compression seems to be my sweet spot. I have great heart health, no blood pressure concerns, I don't get puffy feet or swollen legs, even though my work is very physical. I bought compression socks because my husband mentioned he had read it may help with my knee pain (osteoarthritis). Not only did it help with my knee pain, my overall sense of exhaustion has disappeared! I have energy when I finish work, rather than crawling into bed for a nap! I hit 10,000 steps by 1:00 this afternoon and I'm still going strong at 7:00. I don't really understand what's happening but I haven't felt this good in a long time, and it's been a VERY stressful week. submitted by /u/Illustrious_Copy_902 to r/Menopause [link] [comments]

Holy shit compression socks
I'd seen people mention flying in compression socks before but never understood why exactly - I usually fly either shorter distances or in sneakers. That is until my recent flight across the Atlantic, during which I took off my new Blundstones and could barely get them back on at the end of the flight. I immediately could not walk properly, and instead of changing shoes I pushed through until we got to the hotel...gave myself massive blisters on both feet. Got emergency healing patches which certainly helped, but the damage was done and vibes were so bad that first day 😭. Despite all the rain and some muddy destinations, I didn't wear the Blundstones again until the final days during travel. Shelled out 25€ at the airport for compression socks for the flight back and my mind was blown. My boots were roomy enough that I didn't even feel compelled to take them off, and I saved the bag space that would've been required for me to pack them (which was much more needed for wine and cheese). Just wanted to share because holy shit, compression socks!! submitted by /u/lauren_strokes to r/HerOneBag [link] [comments]

What's the deal/obsession with compression socks in this profession? Am I being foolish by not wearing them?
For context I'm a 31 M and have been bedside nursing for 6.5 years roughly I don't see the advantage to me wearing them yet anytime I mention this, people look at me like I'm crazy. I don't experience swelling on my lower extremities ever, my feet don't hurt or throb, I don't have varicose veins (I think?). I wear very comfortable shoes and replace them immediately the second I feel that the support is wearing down. I work out 5 times/week mostly to combat my insanely high anxiety but obviously this is to my physical benefit in the workplace/avoiding injuries. I'm willing to accept that I'm being stupid so please tell me if I should start wearing them and why because I am stubborn and hate buying things that don't seem necessary submitted by /u/ActiveExisting3016 to r/nursing [link] [comments]
