Help Me Decide: Suunto Vertical 2 or Coros Apex 4
Hi all, I’m coming from the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and looking for something better suited for my outdoor activities. I snowboard, hike, and bike pretty regularly, and over the summer I noticed the Ultra’s battery life and offline maps weren’t reliable enough for longer days or trail riding. I’ve had the watch for about two years, and only recently started trying to incorporate it more seriously into my activities. The data has been surprisingly helpful, so I’m looking for something that fits those needs better. Right now I’m deciding between the Suunto Vertical 2 and the COROS Apex 4. Price isn’t a major factor, and I’m more interested in which one performs better for real outdoor use (navigation, GPS stability, cold‑weather performance, HR accuracy during biking/skiing, etc.). I’m also curious about the apps behind each ecosystem. I’ve heard Suunto’s app looks great but can feel limited, while COROS’s app is a bit “harsh on the eyes” but very data‑oriented and reliable. If you’ve used either app long‑term, I’d love to hear how they compare in day‑to‑day use. If you’ve used either watch (or both), I’d really appreciate your experience and what you’d recommend. Thanks! (Posted on both r/Suunto and r/COROS to get perspectives from each side.) submitted by /u/tahldragon to r/Suunto [link] [comments]

Coros apex 4 vs fenix 7 pro SS (47mm)
I’m stuck choosing between the Coros Apex 4S and the Garmin Fenix 7S Pro Sapphire Solar. I’m currently training for an ultra marathon and also go to the gym 3–4 times per week, so I’m looking for something reliable for endurance training as well as daily wear and recovery tracking. The price difference is only about €100 (Coros cheaper), so cost isn’t really the deciding factor. I really like the look of the Fenix, but I often read that Coros excels when it comes to battery life and pure sports performance. What are the differences between the two that i should really consider looking at before buying any of the two? Why should is chose one over the other? submitted by /u/SupermarketLeft3473 to r/GarminWatches [link] [comments]

Still loving my Apex 4
Moved back to Coros a month ago after having an Apex 2 Pro last year and switching to an Epix Gen 2 Pro to see the differences. Overall, for me, the experience on Coros is much more slick and simple. I originally moved to the Epix for the extra features and ended up not using the majority of them, or finding that they were dictating how I felt. I’m definitely not the sort of person that needs the Apex, I’m sure the Pace 4 would suit my needs, but I much prefer the materials on the Apex and very occasionally use maps and prefer it to using my phone. Model is the 46mm and my wrist is about 16cm. submitted by /u/womblestein to r/Coros [link] [comments]

Apex 4 42 mm - Initial thoughts/ideas
Trail runner here with 16.5 cm wrist circumference. After using the Garmin Instinct 2S extensively for four years, it was time for a new device with more battery power and runner-specific features. Since I wanted a current model with a MIP display and a maximum size of 42 mm, the Apex 4 was almost the inevitable choice. I modified the watch with spring bars without a quick-release function and an elastic textile strap. This brings the watch's weight down to 46 grams. According to my measurements (with caliper), the watch is only 13.5 mm thick, including the heartrate sensor... The following thoughts came to me in the first few days: The screen lighting is much too bright out of activities at night. I would really like it if you could adjust or reduce the screen brightness. It would be perfect if you could set this for general use, during sleep time, and during activities. The screen is easy to read in daylight. Sure the monochrome MIP display of the Instinct 2S is much easier to read, but I'm satisfied. If the "flashlight" had a red light function, the light would not interfere with night vision as much. More watch faces are needed that are optimized for clear information for runners. For me personally, the most useful data so far have been: time, weather, and temperature (what should I wear?), next sunrise or sunset (do I need a headlamp?), battery (do I need to charge the watch before my run?). It would also be great if watch faces had a "night view" mode. For example, watch faces could be colored reddish. Since I really like the watch, I hope that some of these ideas will be implemented 🙂 submitted by /u/Felix-Georg to r/Coros [link] [comments]

This is a thing of beauty… APEX 4
Absolutely buzzing with my Apex 4, one of the best looking watches Coros have ever made in my opinion. For reference I have a 16cm wrist and this is the 46mm model with the Kilian Jornet nylon strap. I sold my Apex 2 pro back in August to switch to another brand, and have been missing Coros since, especially the App and the way the training metrics are displayed. First time using Coros Apex 4
I got Garmin 245 since its release. I have competed 10 marathons and several trail races (50km longest). To prepare for a longer trail races, I bought the latest Coros Apex 4 as it is not expensive, light and has long battery life. However, I have just sold it out. The reason is that Apex 4 (A4)looks like a prototype to me when compared with my 6 years user experience in Garmin. (Sorry that English is not my mother tongue and so my wording may be too long below) Brightness and data alignment The appearance of A4 is not bad. The size fits me. Controlling the watch via a dial is not bad. Everyone should be able to adapt with it. However, I found the brightness of A4 is too dim. I could not get what I need during my interval in track or practices in trail. Brightness may be part of the reasons. The data alignment on the watch face during activities like Run, Tack Run, and Trail Run (I mostly used), is VERY BAD. The last digit of previous data is too close to the first digit of next data. No matter in track, on road or in trail, I just used to spend less than a second on my Garmin 245 watch face and I would get my data. But, I need to spend more time when using A4. The brightness of the A4 watch face will make you think your eyes are getting problems too. I doubted if I am getting old and cannot see the fonts clearly. A4 is 46 mm large but you cannot read it during activities. Garmin 245 is just 6 year old 42mm large but the backlight brightness and data alignment are better. Activity operation - pause During an activity, when you want to pause it, you may not be able to do so. It is because the dial will be easily rotated (too loose) and switch the face to other pages. Switching to other pages should not prevent me to pause the activity, right? Yes if you are on the correct pages like the default pages shown on the Coros App (Garmin can change data field via Watch or App but Coros can only change it via App). If the pages are Map, Elevation graph, Weather, etc, pressing the dial will enter the menu of that page. So, you need to exit and rotate to the correct page to pause. Few seconds will be consumed. This may not be a serious problem for a leisure runner. But I just want to question if Coros has tested the product seriously before release? Tool box icon alignment Press the Back button a while, you will enter the Tool box just like the place where Garmin Watch controls Alarm, Airplane mode (Coros has no airplane mode, though it has sleep mode, the Bluetooth connectivity is always on. Not sure if this is an issue!). The icons in Tool box are not aligned correctly to the dial button. This does not affect the functions. But, again, I will treat it as a prototype. Activity operation - turn notification Turn notification is available in A4. The concept is different from Garmin, the remaining distance will be shown by digits and a bar (it will diminish which is good) and direction with an arrow being prompted to replace the original data field. At that time, the watch is suddenly frozen. No response by tapping the face or pressing the buttons. May be Coros want to force you to look around instead of focus on the watch. Usually, in Garmin, when I noticed there is a turn, I will look at the route in the navigation page and together with the remaining distance to predict and decide the right decision. In Coros, I can just see the digits and cannot see the route on the watch. Data analysis and presentation You can record your running shoes right after finished an activity on the watch is good. Sync with App is super fast which is good (Garmin is too slow). Map rendering in the watch is super fast when comparing with Fenix 8 (I tried in offline shop). Coros has some good stuff that Garmin does not have. Coros can record the data for most of your activities and show the data on watch and App. However, the issue comes. The data on App is just data. No information I can get. Data analysis is limited. The data presentation is extremely poor. People always say Coros App is good and easily to read. To me, there is nothing to read. The cadence is highlighted with different color in the first page. When you tap to enlarge, the colors are gone and all cadence records are in the same color. This is hard to analyze. Also, the x-axis is time only and cannot be changed. The VO2 max is in the second level of the menu. The App does not allow customization yet. Data is also available on website too. But the arrangement is another thing. You cannot correlate the data in watch/App with those on Web. Evolab should be the core analysis of Coros but it can only be available on the Web. May be I have my own preference after using and relying on Garmin interface for a long time. I just want to point out the exiting issues A4 currently have for potential buyers’ reference. I do hope Garmin can make some significant changes or innovations. If not, we will see another Nokia. Most of my friends in the running group seldom explore deeper functions (connect IQ, pace pro, connections) of their Garmin watch. Once the KOL in our group starts promoting Coros, this kind of Garmin users will switch to Coros easily. submitted by /u/Diligent_Oil_7696 to r/GarminWatches [link] [comments]

Apex 4 Band issue
I was an Apple Watch user from 2016 to 2025 when I really picked up the ultra trail running, so I decided needed an actual running watch. The Apex 4 seems great, it is an excellent running watch and I actually appreciate that it doesn’t do many of the things the Apple Watch did as a smartwatch. I’m really having a hard time with this bad though. At least 10 times a day, whenever my arm brushes up against something (sheets, clothes, a counter, my pocket, a wall), the pin comes out and the band flaps around. Apple has a similar pin mechanism and I never once, in almost a decade, had this happen. Is anyone else having this issue? There are no other bands for this watch, at least official ones from Coros so in really torn on what to do. It’s really annoying. submitted by /u/Bookee2Shoes to r/Coros [link] [comments]

Apex 4 - initial thoughs
Hi everyone I just got my Coros Apex 4 earlier today and have played with it for a while. I want to share with you some of my initial thoughts (mostly around the concerns I had watching reviews and browsing this sub). I’ll also report back in 2 months for a in-depth review (by that time, I should have done 500km of running plus a few overnight hikes and one 7-day through hikes . Background/context: I’m a runner (road and trail) and hiker. These are what I got this watch for. I don’t play any other sports (at least not to an extent that I need a watch). I have slim wrist (15cm) so naturally I want a small watch. I also want to use it for office setting (we don’t require formal attire but it is a corporate office). I had a Garmin 935 which I received from a friend earlier this year. It was totally usable but I want a watch with proper maps. So here starts the research. I also want a MIP display because I care more about readability outside. Initially it was non-negotiable but everyone was saying AMOLED is equally good, so I became indifferent. Models considered Garmin 970, fenix, enduro - they are way to expensive (and/or big) for what I need. Sunnto race 2 - it is too big also much more expensive than apex4. I also heard the information is not as good. Amazfit balance 2 - also big, and I’m not sure about the quality/longivity of the watch. Because I plan to use it in the mountains, I’d want something more reliable. Coros pace 3/4/pro - 3/4 doesn’t have maps. Pro has AMOLED and is also bigger than apex 4. Initial thoughts about apex 4 Size: I do like the 42mm size, and at this size, there is really no competition (same price with maps). It is noticeably thick, I’d say even thicker than Garmin 935. So far it doesn’t really bothers me but I do wish it is around 12mm thick. Battery: yes the battery life is not ideal, but to be honest, with 26 hours max and 34 hours high, it should be plenty for 99.99% of people. The only scenario I can think of you need more battery is when you are a non-elite ultra trail runner (say you need to complete UTMB final around 35 hours). Otherwise, 34 hours of battery should last for a week’s usage at least. If I’m doing through hike (there’ll be one coming up next month), I need to recharge regardless of battery life. Screen: yes it is not as bright, but coming from Garmin 935, it doesn’t bother me. This concerned me the most because every reviewer criticizes the screen brightness (probably because they got used to 2000nit from Suunto). I’m not so I’m ok. Screen size: yes 1.3inch would be better, but at the same time I don’t need all the data to be displayed so I can live with 1.2in. Rotary dial accidental activation during activity: unfortunately I can’t test this until next June when I need to wear long sleeves. Lack of flashlight: I just don’t care, I even removed the “screen”flashlight from the quick access section. Mic/speaker: again, I don’t care and I don’t think I’ll ever use it. Watch face: I heard about how atrocious the watch face selection is. Yes it is horrible and I specifically need a white background watch face (I hate reading things on black background). I’m glad I’ve found 3 useable ones. Menu: too bad I can’t have menu on white background, but I don’t need to look at menu all day so I digress. Takeaway It is pretty much what I’ve thought it is and so far it has the features I need. The comments the reviews made are more or less correct but you need to ask yourself: does it matter to you at all? Maybe it does (so you need something else) or it doesn’t. submitted by /u/yguo to r/Coros [link] [comments]

COROS Pace 4 Review and AMA
Hey r/COROS I'm back with my review of the Pace 4! I did a similar post when the Apex 4 came out and it seemed like people liked it. I've had a couple review units for the last couple of weeks and just got my full review with all my thoughts, as well as an objective performance review, up at https://youtu.be/D__WYl_76O4 To give a very brief overview of the new Pace 4: Incredibly lightweight at 40g with silicone band and (reportedly) 31g with a new nylon band to be released soon Priced at just $249 in the US 1.2" AMOLED for a brighter display Great battery life, outperforming both the Pace 3 and Pace Pro in many metrics I get into a LOT more detail in my video and while I'm not one of the 'big reviewers' hopefully I can offer some unique insight or additional depth that would make the video worth your time. I was up until 1AM finishing my edits so I missed my morning run and will probably head out to salvage what I can ... once I'm back I will try to hang out here to take any questions you have AMA style. Thanks! submitted by /u/DaveDoesFitness to r/Coros [link] [comments]

This watch is hectic!
My Coros Apex 4 finally came in, can’t wait to hit the trails with it this weekend! Looks big, I know - needed that long battery life for the ultras. submitted by /u/Ax1s_ to r/Coros [link] [comments]

Apex 4 indoors 10 minutes after getting watch
This just arrived. Aside from changing the watch face, this is totally stock settings. I flipped my wrist to activate backlight before snapping the photo, and I’m under a lamp. Default strap. People have been asking about dimness, and the visibility looks pretty good to my old eyes. This is 46mm on 7.5 inch (sorry metric system) wrist. submitted by /u/dont_shush_me to r/Coros [link] [comments]

Apex 4 Purchase
I really love the quality of this watch; it feels solid and well-made. The other watch is the Pace Pro. Did I need the watch? No, but I’m glad I got it. A mediocre athlete, with too much money. submitted by /u/Spicyhotapples to r/Coros [link] [comments]

Apex 4 is a disappointment
It looks like a complete disappointment, like a potential watch for the owner of Pace Pro. I couldn't find a single reason to switch. The microphone and speaker are absolutely not critical for me, the MIP display looks like a downgrade compared to the Pace Pro, and the only thing better about the Apex 4 is the materials. No Climb Pro, no 1.4-inch display, no really interesting innovations. Very sad. Perhaps for owners of Pace 3 or Apex 2, this will be a significant upgrade. submitted by /u/powerpaly_gg to r/Coros [link] [comments]

Coros Apex 4 Review and AMA
Hey r/Coros I just got my review of the Apex 4 up! I'll give a really brief summary here if you don't want to watch it: 3rd Gen MIP Display, Premium Hardware (Sapphire, Titanium, etc) Same Processor as Pace Pro + Nomad - Extremely fast performance Unbelievable speed with maps, you can zoom from 3mi out to a few hundred feet out in a second without any lag Battery life just about as long as advertised - site says up to 15 days, I got about 13.5-14 with pretty heavy usage (42mm version) Speaker and Mic both work great - Can see a call test Priced basically the same as Apex 2 / 2 Pro, no price hikes! Good job Coros! ($429 / $479) Here's a few things I didn't mention too well in the review: In the Press Release Coros mentions "Enhanced Vertical GPS Algorithms" which was something they didn't delve into and I don't have access to a lot of elevation where I live / test so I couldn't get into that a lot Dual-Range Barometer is mentioned on the tech sheet. I wasn't able to really look into this and again it wasn't covered in the media call, but I know this has been a pain point for some users. Water Depth Gauge - I mention this, but don't provide much detail. This will show the depth that YOU are at in the water. It does not measure the overall depth of the water you are in. Audio Alerts - I show this, but don't mention it. You can get audible alerts during an activity. The speaker is plenty loud. Anyway, hope you enjoy the video, I'm no big YouTuber like Chase the Summit or DC Rainmaker and work a full-time job with a family so my testing time is limited, but I still try to cover things pretty thoroughly. I'm happy to stick around for as long as I can today and answer whatever questions you have about the Apex 4. submitted by /u/DaveDoesFitness to r/Coros [link] [comments]
