Be extra happy that you can be the reason that some higher-up asshole makes several thousand extra dollars this season--because you can do the work of 3 people! Since the higher-ups force stores to operate on fewer hours and increase profit, they will receive monetary and other bonuses! What do you get for your trouble? Three times the work and warnings that tasks must still be completed (no excuses!). You (a lowly front store cashier) must stay in the green zone, while facing, doing put-backs, helping customers on aisle 17, answering the phone lines (in less than 3 rings), processing endless photo orders, fixing the ACO, running the register, reloading prepaid cards every 45 seconds, getting signups for Extracare and EC+ (goal is 3 a day--nobody wants them), picking BOPIS order on time, completing damages, and putting up the truck from 4 days ago as well as 2,300 price increase/AMM labels. Tomorrow you will have all this + moving and resetting a whole aisle of seasonal merch. Oh, and you are by yourself because your manager on duty was called for backup to the pharmacy, since the pharmacy is somehow understaffed despite having 4 people working back there. Thank your out-of-touch DLs and whatnot for the opportunity to work so hard to benefit their wallet. They will reward you by telling you they appreciate your hard work, because they, too, are working hard....from their office, not dealing with shitty software, shitty photocenters and registers, or trying to explain the books' worth of coupon rules to some poor customer who thought they could save a dollar on their gruesomely overpriced snack. Half of those DLs try to tell you how it should be and how to run a store when they are just some out-of-touch pencil pusher nepo baby who never actually worked in retail. And your poor store manager has to kiss their ass despite knowing none of the DL's "mandatory suggestions" will work. I remember almost a decade ago when I started working here, we had just shy of 400 hours in the front store a week during holidays, now our store struggles with ONLY 210 front store hours, despite our workload increasing tenfold. Remember when they said the cuts were temporary? Luckily, I have gotten an average of 1.8% pay raise each year, despite the cost of living increasing by about an average of 3% yearly! CVS made 1.3 billion dollars last quarter, though! Surely we workers will benefit from that....how much are the CEOs making again? Merry Christmas! Up until this year my elderly parents who live on limited budget were paying close $2500 a year for medicine and insurance (also owned by CVS) and after paying huge deductibles that are so high they can't burn trough them in 12 months. They also wasted time and money couponing at CVS and waiting for sales that are available only paper just to end up paying on average the same or more than they would elsewhere without coupons. I switched them to another insurance and moved them to another pharmacy and now their expected cost of prescription insurance, and deductible is about $120 a year per person. Most importantly, in the first couple of months after switching CVS was literally trying to steal their prescriptions back. Apparently they are able to see prescriptions that are sent to new pharmacy and would fill that prescription in advance in hopes of my parents going back to them after new pharmacy tells them they can't get prescription filled. submitted by /u/hopopo to r/Frugal [link] [comments]

Sure you get good days and bad days, but this is my best on a day without getting up at 5:20. Sure this isn't a career but its perfect for breaks being a college student. I've thought for a while now that CVS should do what Walmart, Meijer, Kroger and other large chain stores do (not like they don't have the money... they're just to concerned with acquiring new companies and monopolizing the medical field) We'll use my store as an example...FS is open 8am-10pm daily RX is open 9am-7pm Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm on Saturday and 11am -5pm on Sunday... Create shift work literally... keep open hours the same... have a team of 2 in at 6am for both RX and FS and until each area is open to the public concentrate on things like filing scripts, prepping for deliveries (RX) etc... and FS manager in back office getting back office work completed (email hub planner etc...) then moves onto CFR activities, while cashier concentrates on cleaning and straightening the sales floor and preps for opening. Once open 1 more FS colleague joins at opening (RX has a change over but isn't open for another hour or two) during opening hours we simply concentrate on customer service, Photo, Bopis and SfS. At 9am RX opens 2 more techs join and they continue to do their work. At 2-2:30pm there's a shift change for those of use who came in at 6am. Rx closes but the team stays on until 10pm gates down so that they can get caught up and clean etc... between 10-10:30pm final shift change. The entire store is closed... two man teams in FS and RX... FS works on things such as PWs, RFCs, Damages, Outdates, Planograms, stocking the sales floor and running truck. Shifts running with opening hours continue where overnights left off (completing a Plano or disco merch pulls, out dates etc... and cleaning bathrooms breakrooms stock room etc... but having the over night team that does the hidden parts of the job will free up those who work during store hours for BOPIS, SfS, Photo Orders, UPS and most importantly customer service... And weekends.... mid shift on saturday roughly 2-3 hours prior to closing time pull the old sales tags. At closing time over night crew gets the sales floor tagged uninterrupted. Opening on Sunday morning store is fully tagged, sales floor stocked (morning crew stocks and cleans ) and generally clean the store. No more preferential treatment for Pharmacy staff... we all have loves and families outside of work. If the RX is reducing hours or closing for a holiday etc... then the front store should be given the same respect. If CVS only treated all of their employees the same way they might see happier employees and employees who wouldn't have an issue with helping a different area of the store (RX to FS and FS to RX) if they reinvested into their employees with better wages, more work/life balance, equal treatment for everyone one not just specific teams. Corporate keeps preaching ONE STORE ONE TEAM well part of that approach is treating us as ONE STORE ONE TEAM not using that line on us when it benefits them and their agendas... they have all this money for retreats, private concerts and acquisitions new medical companies but they don't have the money to invest is up to date tech (how about those stone aged registers still running on IMB 1998-2002 memory and software... ) if they'd update and replace old tech with current tech rather than sending someone out to fix it every other day they'd save more money on purchasing new and up to date equipment then they spend on maintaining and repairing or reprogramming the old shit...I mean wow a lot of our equipment is older than our most recent round of new hires... lol CVS is the very definition of insanity... they keep fixing the same problems over and over again hoping for a different outcome... Bottom line if they reinvested into proper training, fully staffing, updating and replacing dated equipment, positive work/life balance for everyone, treating all their employees the same, evenly distributing the work load and not understaffing and budget cuts for hours, better pay, vacations that we can take when we want to, cheaper benefits, celebrating store teams etc.... they might find themselves on top of the medical field because gasp ... they have next to no turn over rate, valued employees, appreciated employees, competitive pay, benefits and work/life balance for all... now rather than customers changing pharmacies because the staff at CVS is stretched to thin, people will be fighting to come to our stores why, because the atmosphere is better, kinder, less stressed out. The employees are happy and not overworked. Kind of like that saying "happy wife, happy life" well kinda goes for retail or any job for that matter... "happy employees, better profit margins, better reviews, more recommendations, more customers.... which equals more money for employees and for the company as a whole" But this is CVS and they don't look at it like that... because cutting costs, cutting hours and a constant employee turnover leading to new hires and training is more cost effective then retaining the employees they currently have who know their customers, their jobs and their communities... let's just spend hundreds more on replacing and training then retaining and respecting pur current staff... submitted by /u/Ok_Ambassador8501 to r/CVS [link] [comments]

They only allow you the hours for one keyholder, and one cashier per shift, if you are lucky. Many stores do not get even that liberty consistently. The sheer amount of time they want a manager to devote to potential employee theft, whilst letting customers walk right out with merch, is mind boggling. They want one person to stay in the “green zone” (front half of the store), to assist customers who cannot or will not use self checkout. That typically leaves the keyholder to handle all the grunt work in the back half: truck that is never ending, shelving overstock that can be on a second floor for many stores, etc. Regular weekly delivery is accepted blindly so counts are always off. There would not be time to scan it in anyway, considering the pittance number of payroll hours. However, there is also almost never time to have all replenishment 100%, so biweekly cycle counts are rarely 100%. Naturally, you are graded on all of these things. Almost ALL of the difficulties front store and pharmacy face can be resolved with proper staffing. Proper oversight, enough hands to do jobs thoroughly and without exhausting anyone, enough time to properly develop low level staff, it would even greatly improve customer service levels because attitudes would be different. CVS is just another old boys club. Old ways, from old generations, with archaic ideas for how to treat staff. Even the pos systems are obscenely dated. Billions of dollars in profit, and profiteering, and zero used to improve where they started, front store and pharmacy. Payroll is a controllable expense, so let’s put all the stress on the in store salaried people that used to love their craft, so they overwork themselves, and kick all the money elsewhere. Sorry if the flair is wrong, I'm new to all this and I'm on mobile. To help give a bit of context: I am 21 years old and female I live in Jefferson County in Alabama I do live with my parents as I'm a full time college student. My mother is very much so a control freak and recently it has impacted me very negatively. On the less extreme side I ordered some merch online and had it sent home rather than to my college with the intention of getting home before it arrived, however it arrived early and my mother opened the package and looked through the contents. I ordered a "Could Be Gayer" shirt and upon seeing it, got very irate and threw it out. The shirt was not here when I got home though the poster that came with it was. On the more extreme side I have a thyroid condition that requires me to take Levothyroxine. I have also had frequent issues with my period and recently diagnosed with PCOS. I have been prescribed Metformin and birth control for this reason. My mom has found out and because she told me not to go to the gynecologist and I went against her wishes she took the medication once getting it from the pharmacy and either has hid it or thrown it out. She picked up the levothyroxine that day as well and I've run out and made frequent comments on it but she has not made an effort to give me my medicine or make it known she has it when I mentioned heading to CVS. I have considered calling the non-emergency line for the police and reporting her but I'm not sure if that is the best course of action. What should I do?
