RE:What did you do "IN" your garage today?
Beerhippie said: Dish soap works just fine as long as the soot isn't greasy/oily. I brought 6 small bottles of Dawn Platinum from Dollarama, then a 4L jug from Costco. Then I just fill up the spare and switch out. One in shop, one at pressure washer, one in kitchen and one in my shower lol…. Even moms room at the home has a bottle.

Everyday Dish Soap? Palmolive Oxy, Amazon, Dawn P. Other?
I'm kind of stuck on Palmolive Oxy, Amazon did an OK job but ran out quicker and was less "thicc" as the kids say today, and Dawn Platinum was pretty good but higher than those 2. What you guys think? Just stick with Palmolive Oxy? To be honest I like Dawn and Amazon's smell better. Palmolive Oxy's I don't really like to smell, but cleans the best so far for about $8 a month for a big ole jug. submitted by /u/Signal_Jellyfish_472 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

I’ve been brushing my teeth with dish soap for the past 2 months.
Around mid April this year, I ran out of toothpaste but you know you can usually squeeze a few squirts before it’s truly out so I figured I’d be fine if I waited another day to buy more but as I was getting ready for work and went to brush my teeth, I could not get a single drop of toothpaste out. But I didn’t want my breath to stink and I was already running late so I had to do something. I looked around and thought well soap cleans things and is antibacterial so it’s gotta work in a pinch and should be safe long as I don’t swallow it, I mean hell this was Dawn dish soap which is apparently safe to use on ducks so it ain’t gonna hurt teeth. I squirted some Dawn platinum on my toothbrush and went at it. It got really foamy of course from the water and it tasted horrible but my breath smelt like soap instead of that bad breath smell and it cleaned them. As the day came to an end, I forgot to buy toothpaste again and I shrugged it off. Well I can just use the Dawn again for tonight and tomorrow morning and I’ll buy toothpaste tomorrow. But you know how being lazy and procrastinating works. One day becomes two days, two becomes three, three becomes four and so on. I was eventually a week deep into using Dawn as toothpaste and at this point, I was used to the taste, and I was saving money. So I kinda just stuck to it because I am broke and any dollar I can save adds up. So now I’m about two months into doing this. But when I was brushing my teeth today, I was thinking to myself how I never told anyone I been doing this so I thought I’d get it off my chest in some way. submitted by /u/MrPests to r/confessions [link] [comments]

Thoughts on Dawn dish soap?
It’s $21.99 in store while Costco brand was $9.99, which is fantastic with almost identical packaging… Americans absolutely love their Dawn though, so much. Many buy it over Kirkland every single time and swear by it, yet my local store stocks so much Dawn but it hardly moves. What is it like? I’m referring to Dawn Platinum, sold in 2.66L. submitted by /u/ConceptIcy776 to r/CostcoAustralia [link] [comments]

Don platinum dish soap has changed their formula. Made a great product. Got everybody to buy it. And now they changed it. No suds.
Has anybody noticed the Dawn platinum plus power suds is different now? I watched five items in a small dish pad and the sides of all but disappeared. But so disappointed I really liked the previous product but now it’s more money for less of a product. Does anyone have another recommendation for a good sudsy dish soap? Edit Dawn dish soap Edit : I discovered there is a difference between Platinum Plus Power Suds and Platinum. The platinum plus is no good in my opinion. I grabbed the wrong bottle. submitted by /u/baggagefree2day to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

I've tried browsing for an clear answer but surprisingly can't find any — of the budget degreasing options (dish soap, BIZ, ammonia, etc.), which is the FASTEST when used at a concentration that still keeps it in the budget range?
To clarify, I of course have normal dish soap I could use, but I figured that I might as well buy a bulk gallon of BIZ or dish soap or whatever for the sole purpose of bone degreasing, in which case I'm guessing just the standard Dawn dish soap I typically buy probably isn't the best option out there. I'm not exactly sure what the "budget range" is since I'd be willing to spend a bit more for faster results, but it would need to be less than acetone (since I know that works great so I might as well just buy that if the alternative is the same price). Basically it's per-bucket price (I.e. the amount required in the solution for it to do it's job) should be about the same as your typical dish soap, or more if the speed is better (I'd be fine paying say 2x more if it's also 2x faster). So, from the perspective of buying it for the specific purpose of degreasing bones, what brand, product type (Ex. soap vs ammonia), or product variation (Ex. normal Dawn vs Dawn Platinum) would be the best bang for your buck? submitted by /u/Nathaniel820 to r/bonecollecting [link] [comments]

Pro cleaner tip: how to make your own Dawn Platinum Powerwash refill
I run a small cleaning company in Orlando and we go through a lot of Dawn Powerwash every week. Instead of constantly buying new bottles, we usually just refill them. If you already have the spray bottle, this DIY mix works really well. DIY Dawn Platinum Powerwash Refill Ingredients: ✧ 2 tablespoons Dawn Platinum dish soap ✧ 1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol (70% or higher) ✧ warm water Fill the rest of the bottle with warm water and gently swirl to mix. The alcohol helps break down grease and makes the spray dry faster without leaving streaks. We use this mix constantly for things like: ✧ stovetops ✧ kitchen counters ✧ sinks ✧ grease on cabinets ✧ bathroom surfaces ✧ shower buildup Pro tip: Spray it and let it sit for about 30-60 seconds before wiping. Most people spray and wipe immediately, but giving it a little time helps break down grease and soap scum. Just figured I’d share since those Powerwash refills get expensive submitted by /u/Appropriate_Candy_51 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

HOLY GRAIL for shower cleaning - Dawn Powerwash
I cannot find the original person that commented to use Dawn Powerwash on my shower but wow I would give you all the awards. I like having a tidy and clean house but cleaning my shower always makes me want to just burn the house down and collect the insurance money. We have hard water in our house. I loathe cleaning the shower, with a passion. I have tried bleach, scrubbing bubbles, the pink stuff, scrub daddy products, vinegar and baking soda, a steam cleaner, various srubbers and attachments (so much so I actually think I wrecked the bottom plastic pan on the shower). DAWN POWERWASH, get it in the pear/light scent. HOLY GRAIL look at my shower y'all!!! I wish I took before pics but it was bad. Loads of soap grime all over the walls, hard water stains, and that nasty pink mould I can never remember how to spell. I still have more work to do on the bottom pan but my Lord, the rest of the shower took me 30 minutes to scrub it VERY well. I used a scrub daddy, small brush, microfiber cloth, warm water in a jug and a cotton towel to wipe everything down after squeegeeing. I will never use anything else. I did include a final shot of the bottom pan of the shower, if you zoom you can see how I've ruined the finish in spots :( submitted by /u/winnipeggremlin to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Free/mm Dawn dish soap at *some* Giant stores in the DC/MD/VA area
If you live or work in the DC/MD/VA area, check your nearby Giant stores for this deal: A lot of Giants have Dawn dish soap marked way down: Dawn Platinum Plus Powerwash, 16oz, in their limited edition scents: Fresh Pine, Frosted Cranberry and Pumpkin Spice (I found heaps of this one in-store, no longer listed online). It's regularly priced at $6.49, now clearanced at $1.62. There's a digital coupon on the site/app that allows $2 off one bottle, expiring 1/24, making this free and a small money maker. Check your local store here with this link and sort "Price: Low to High": https://giantfood.com/browse-aisles/categories/1/categories/1448/categories/1465-dishwashing Sometimes a lot of these clearance prices aren't labeled on the shelf in person, so make sure the price is correct for the exact product/size marked down via the app/website or the barcode scanner a lot of Giants have near the front of the store/down a random aisle. As always, you have to buy more stuff in your order to get the money maker. Giant won't just hand you the extra cash; the overage has to be applied to whatever else you buy at the same time. My store had their limited edition Dawn soaps on an endcap with other clearanced cleaning products with holiday scents (but not near the yellow-sticker 'scratch and dent' stuff, as those products don't usually work with coupons), so if you don't find it on the usual shelf in your store, walk around a bit and see if it's piled elsewhere. I found this deal at stores in the following zip codes: 20001, 20002, 20008, 20010, 20018, 20120, 20121, 20164, 20171, 20186, 20194, 20603, 20607, 20706, 20707, 20715, 20716, 20744, 20745, 20748, 20754, 20770, 20774, 20782, 20784, 20814, 20816, 20832, 20850, 20854, 20855, 20866, 20874, 20878, 20879, 20901, 20904, 20906, 20910, 21029, 21037, 21043, 21044, 21045, 21054, 21075, 21113, 22003, 22015, 22031, 22033, 22041, 22042, 22044, 22046, 22079, 22101, 22150, 22151, 22152, 22153, 22180, 22192, 22204, 22305, 22306, 22315, 22405, 22406, 22407, 22553, 22554 submitted by /u/ffxfinds to r/AwesomeFreebies [link] [comments]

Is there no more Dawn Platinum Plus Plus Powerwash?! Temporary shortage? Where can I still get this?
It appears that (in my area at least) Dawn no longer offers the best innovation to happen to dish soap in at least 50 years: The Platinum Plus Powerwash Dish Spray. While it may sound silly, my friends and family are very upset about its loss. Worse, Dawn has apparently changed the bottle to a dumpy little regular hand pump foaming sprayer (like an ordinary bathroom hand soap pump—but with white “wings” under the push down pump to make it supposedly more ergonomic.) It is much less convenient to use. The formula seems very different, and despite the fact that it is still a foaming soap, it is much more difficult to fully rinse it off my dishes. It clings to the dishes longer, and I have to use 5 times as much water to rinse the soap residue off when I just want to wash, say, one fork. WHY!?! DAWN—PLEASE BRING BACK THE POWER WASH! Or if this is just a local or temporary shortage, someone please tell me. If I have inadvertently repeated anyone else’s post about this, or if in fact, the soap is not discontinued but just unavailable temporarily, I apologize. My family and friends and I really loved this sprayer—enough to talk about it and call it “the good stuff.” We know it may seem silly to get so worked up about soap, but the Powerwash made it so easy (especially for single people who eat alone) to just wash one dish at a time without getting embroiled in a gooey mess that takes so much more water to wash off. Dear Dawn—we want our Supersprayer soap bottle and the old soap formula back!!! We have always been as eco conscious as possible and always re-used the sprayer top and put it on a refill container so as not to add the pump sprayer (the top of it at least) to any plastic landfills OR the giant ball of plastic in the ocean. And we always recycle the bottom soap well when it is empty, also, and just buy refills to use with the sprayer top. Hopefully somebody can tell me this is a temporary shortage from a supply chain interruption after AWS went down or something? Or please tell me where it is now available? I would happily order it and have it shipped in, since it has disappeared from all my neighborhood stores. Thank you in advance to anyone who agrees with me or who can tell me where to still get it. And yes—I know this is a “first world problem” and sounds a little silly. But we really loved the PowerSprayer. submitted by /u/Impossible-Pen-9090 to r/Soap [link] [comments]

Dish soap that doesn't suck?
My daughter just turned 6mo and I've been 99% EP since 6 weeks. I hate it for several reasons, but one of the more minor annoyances is that the damn silicone parts, particularly the flange inserts that bring my 24mm Spectra hard plastic flange down to my actual size, come out of any wash still greasy. My baby brezza countertop washer is the best option but even then they still usually come out greasy. I am applying nipple balm directly to them pre-pumping because that's what I've found works best to mitigate the palpable sensation that leaves me overstimulated to the point of wanting to claw off my skin. I don't think "fat on a surface" is a huge ask for... Dish soap. Has anyone found a soap that reliably cleans pump parts effectively? Dawn platinum didn't work and had the bonus feature of leaving my parts smelling strongly of fabric softener. Dapple soap didn't work. Cascade in my dishwasher doesn't work and as a bonus alllll my parts and bottles come out with hard water spots and all the silicone bits frequently feel greasy. Both the unscented dish soaps I could find at whole foods didn't work. Ajax didn't work. Washing soda diluted 1Tbps to 1cup water didn't work. Manually scrubbing at the flanges with my bare fingers in very hot water post-dishwasher with the unscented soap is the best I've got and it only half works. Why is "clean oil off silicone" such an impossible task, and has anyone solved this one? EDIT since there's some repeat responses: I use either coconut oil or a coconut-oil-based nipple balm and have found it more effective to put it on the flange than on my nipples. Right now I am using the seventh generation fragrance-free dish soap directly applied to the part, then scrubbed with either my fingers or a narrow plasticky-sponge nipple brush. I have found bristle bottle brushes virtually useless, and cellulose sponges hard to fit into narrow areas. I am post-dishwasher washing in the hottest water my hands can tolerate (and often hotter) and I still routinely have to wipe oil off of the damn things once they are dry. I think the whole foods 365 brand fragrance free dish soap was the best I have found so far but it's still an extra cleaning step and doesn't always work. Since some of you mentioned 7th generation dishwasher pods I am going to give those a try! I routinely donate to my local milk Bank and one of the things they ask of donors is that we sanitize at least once a day; dishwasher or the baby brezza are the easiest way for me to accomplish that. I'm resigned to whatever leaching happens—I'm sure we are all consuming our required daily dose of micro plastics thanks to the million particles that wash into our watershed every time we wash our polyester and nylon and acrylic clothing. We exist to serve our plastic overlords, right? There are approximately 13,000 varieties of Dawn on the market, and at the three stores I have most recently searced, none of them are fragrance free. If y'all love your particular Dawn could you kindly link me to something that shows it specifically? Bonus points if it is a retailer where I can purchase it. I will let Procter & Gamble toy with my heart one more time. Thank you all for your insight and solidarity! submitted by /u/VVeeH to r/ExclusivelyPumping [link] [comments]

What dish soap should I use now that Dawn sucks!?
Perhaps someone can help as it's become such a tedious and depressing thing. I've always raved about how Dawn Platinum was the best soap, just a tiny drop and it cleans anything squeaky clean. Since they've apparently reformulated (not to mention the gross smell), I have to use more soap and it still leaves greasy parts on my dishes. Has anyone had better luck with another brand for washing everyday dishes? I'd prefer not to put everything in the dishwasher as I like to clean small batches by hand. I'm sad about this, but it's time to move on I suppose 🤷‍♀️ submitted by /u/Fresh-Requirement862 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Can anyone tell me why Dawn dish soap now smells like vomit?
Recently on r/cleaning there has been a chorus of folks upset with the smell of Dawn Platinum (the classic “blue/refreshing rain scent”). Apparently the manufacturer reformulated the brand, and the resulting smells has been described variously as “vomit”, “corpse”, “liquid death” and “what IS that?” It stays on dishes/surfaces long after they have been washed. People are hoarding the older style bottles and looking for alternatives. Those who have contacted Procter and Gamble have not received a satisfactory response. My assumption is that it is butyric acid, but I wasn’t aware of any properties that would make it useful in dish soap…maybe to control bacterial growth? Does anyone have any thoughts about the Dawn blue dish soap reformulation? Can you smell it too? r/cleaning would be so happy to have some answers! I hope they aren’t still washing oil spills off baby ducks with this puke soap…. submitted by /u/alicehooper to r/chemistry [link] [comments]

LPT: Fill a spray bottle with 10% Dawn dish soap and 90% water. You now have an incredibly effective and cheap multipurpose cleaner.
I discovered this recently. Take any spray bottle, empty it out and then add a 10% Dawn (I prefer Platinum) and 90% water. This spray can be used on windows, counters, toilet, floors and is really all purpose. It works wonders for soap scum in the bathtub if you let it sit too. You can also do this trick with concentrated liquid like Simple Green. Save some money, make this spray. A bottle of this will last a while since its so potent. submitted by /u/VarokSaurfang to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]
