My attempt to manage an infant and continue day trading options
A coworker showed me he was up $260 over a month of investing on Robinhood, so I decided to give it a try. Deposited $525 into a margin account. My wife was two months pregnant. After seven months building it over 50k, and an SNDK $550 2/27 c sold for profit while wife was sleeping in the hospital bed, I built the account up to $89,000. My daughter was born 3 months ago. Here you see my 3 month timeline. From that day, I have made incredibly horrible stupid plays, and burned it all the way back down. My biggest losses, screenshots attached, all were 100% revenge trades trying to chase trades that were barely wrong. MULTIPLE times I owned 25+ contracts of SPYX at 1.50, would sell them for 3.50 because the infant is needing more attention, only to realize that they ended the day worth 48.50.... but the times I don't sell and walk away it absolutely craters. Y'all know how it is. Casual fumble of 140,000 profit trade. Was holding SNDK 880c and was worried my position would be destroyed while I'm feeding the baby so I exit and it heads to 1100. Two Disclaimers: This is not my retirement it all came from $500 and I did also withdraw $20,000 in march to start an Edward jones account for the kiddo. So if anything my 500 turned into 20,000 for her. (Even though I blame this as the reason I started revenge trading. Trying to make back that 20k instantly.) Two weeks ago, I decided I hate Robinhood and took my last 7k into WeBull and bought puts on CAR before it fell so I'm up pretty big again. EDIT: I do NOT blame my child GEEZ lol y'all are wild right now. I was cocky cause I secured big gains off peanuts and was overconfident obviously. But now... my account was all of a sudden 20k less than usual. Revenge trade to make it back blindly on stocks and option strategies that I havent looked at the chart because I'm overconfident and "I'll go back to my normal methods after I make this back on some quick SPX options". blindly believing the war will end and spx will skyrocket, just time it. I know. Regarded. To the people asking why 126 left? Well that's how much my oracle call sold for. Down $24 on that one dang it! Been day trading for 10 days, am I doing alright?
Been doing long term investing since April 2020 and I have decided to do day trading (with a little of swing trade) since 4/10 with intention to make extra income by taking advantage of daily swing. It was about 10 trading days and I have made $2400, roughly $250/ day. Made a lot from Allbirds AI bullshit and ASTS swing trade. I could have made $8000 one day from Allbirds if I have sold later on the day. I basically trade for 1.5 hours after market opens, close my position, log off and do my daily full time job. It’s definitely fun to learn how to view stock trends on TradingView, how to use 20ma and 50ma and read candlesticks. Rose Cameron warrior trading YouTube free videos also give out lots of great content to learn from. I don’t keep my P&L journal as I think it’s quite time consuming. I am quite a patient and conservative person and I don’t like high risk therefore I do not really have losing days just yet, therefore my daily gain is not whole lot either. Do you suggest me to sell some more gainers from long term investment account and move more fund to day trading account? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/Smooth_Ferret8081 to r/Daytrading [link] [comments]

I’m considering getting into day trading. Is there actually good money in it or is it an illusion?
I’ve started watching some beginner guides on things like how to operate tradingview, technical analysis, fundamental analysis, etc. Am I wasting my time? Surely if I get comfortable paper trading then surely I could enter real markets with maybe $10 and get comfortable in there too before moving to bigger entries. How many of you made it in Day Trading?
I've always heard the stories of people starting out day trading and then transitioning to swing trading, saying "Day trading is nonsense, swing trading is the only real form of trading". I understand the general trope of day trading being way more difficult, but I definitely acknowledge that day trading isn't IMPOSSIBLE. I am curious then to hear your experience day trading and whether you made it or if you only found success after switching to swing trading. submitted by /u/Dragosfgv to r/Trading [link] [comments]

Day Trading Ruined My Life. I’m 25, About to Be a Father, and I Just Lost Everything
I need to get this off my chest. Maybe it helps someone. Maybe it just helps me process this. I don’t know anymore. If I had never discovered day trading, I would have over $100,000 in my long-term investment account right now. Just sitting there. Compounding. Growing quietly while I lived my life. Instead, I’m staring at $38,000 and a shattered mind. Today I traded gold. I got liquidated. -$15,000. Gone. In one session. And the worst part? I saw it coming. I always see it coming. I just don’t stop. I don’t use stop losses. I know I know that’s rule number one. Every book says it. Every course says it. Every trader who’s been where I am says it. But my ego tells me “it’ll come back.” My emotions tell me “just hold a little longer.” And by the time reality hits, the damage is done. And the winning trades? I cut those early. Every single time. I’ll be up, feeling the momentum, and then panic sets in. “Take the profit. Take it now before it disappears.” So I close at +$200 when I could’ve held for +$2,000. But the losers? Those I ride all the way to the ground. Let winners run. Cut losers short. I do the exact opposite. Every. Single. Time. Here’s the part that really breaks me. My girlfriend and I are expecting a baby. I’m about to be a father. And instead of feeling excited, I feel paralyzed. I don’t feel prepared for life with myself, let alone responsible for another human being. How do you look at your partner and explain that the money the safety net, the future you were building is gone because you couldn’t close a position? I feel frustrated. I feel lost. I feel stupid. Not the kind of stupid where you laugh at yourself. The kind of stupid where you sit in silence and question every decision you’ve ever made. submitted by /u/RavenBJ to r/Daytrading [link] [comments]

Is day trading legit?
My (20f) bf (20m) has gotten really into day trading and I’m very skeptical to say the least. He says he doesn’t want to work until he’s 50 and that this is one of the best ways to make money as long as you know what you’re doing. He’s been conversing with some influencer who seems to be successful with this and he’s getting most of his knowledge from him. Is this actually something people can be successful with? He doesn’t seem to want to try out a traditional job and I’m worried this won’t work out for him. UPDATE: thank you for all the comments I found them very informative. I wanted to clarify that my bf does currently work at a gas station and isn’t unemployed, but he also has no interest in getting a higher paying job which seems to be required for day trading. Also he isn’t paying for any day trading courses just conversing with some people who are doing it. submitted by /u/Remiington_Reed to r/Daytrading [link] [comments]

If I Wanted to Make $1,000 a Day Trading, I’d Do This!
This strategy has made me a full time trader and made me my first $100k in profits 100% mechanical. You only need 1 box & 1 candle, that's it Take 2 mins to read this; https://preview.redd.it/3u93jipn6tmg1.png?width=852&format=png&auto=webp&s=780f42570a3e101181ca2f602ae91b05a1c89dd5 Majority of unprofitable traders are holding THEMSELVES back They keep looking for the most complicated strategy and avoid what actually works simplicity. That's why this 100% mechanical strategy erases all the discretion! Here's how to use this simple and highly profitable strategy: Just before we get into it, there are a few things you have to know prior! Step 1: Go to the Daily Timeframe on the asset you want to trade Step 2: Draw a box from the High to Low of the Daily Candle and extend it. Draw a line in the middle. Then go on a lower timeframe like the 5 minute. submitted by /u/Big-Cobbler-6968 to r/tradingmillionaires [link] [comments]

My First Week Ever Day Trading.
I’m brand spanking new to stocks and trading, like ZERO experience, threw 100$ into a day trading account on day 1 and sent it. Started on a Friday and ended the day with a beautiful $1.28 profit. Mind you I am doing all of this on Wealthsimple on my iPhone and mostly at work when I have an opportunity. The next week I threw $800 more in to invest. The final day I added another $85 from a dead crypto account. I have had mostly positive days with one day being a learning day. I didn’t pull out when I was at an -$18 loss and held on hoping it would recover. Ended up eating it at a -$38 loss. Much to my dismay that stock bounced back the next day and would have made me $7 profit had I held. But I’m glad I bailed, I played way too risky and almost lost all I had made the 3 previous days. Thankfully today was a good day. I don’t know any strategy yet, I just try and take small wins when I can, not play too risky. Don’t really know what I’m doing. I’m aware of avoiding risk and revenge trading etc.. but as far as strategy I’ve got nothing. No wycoff method or ORB or whatever else. submitted by /u/Dapper-Ad-5881 to r/Daytrading [link] [comments]

Day trading is bullshit
I laughed every time Alex talked about day trading and especially the scene where he had in his ear piece claiming he was listening to a speech by Jerome Powell in one ear and based off what he was hearing he was making moves in the market. This maybe sounds semi realistic to someone who has no idea how financial markets work but there is zero chance he is making money in the real world. Day trading means buying and selling financial assets within the same trading day and trying to profit from small price movements. Buying at 100.20 and selling at 100.40 off arbitrage or momentum off information you have that others don't have. You're competing against massive hedge funds or algorithmic trading firms which is why retail has no chance. It's glorified gambling and the small guy always loses. No shame in being a soccer coach but pretending like he was some finance whiz on the side made me laugh. submitted by /u/ThatPatelGuy to r/LoveIsBlindOnNetflix [link] [comments]

I've been day trading for 5 years, successfully for 4, I wanna provide you guys with my top 5 tips
I’m new to this subreddit, but not new to trading. What I’ve noticed though is that a lot of people here, even if they’ve been around the sub for a while, are still early in their actual trading journey. So I figured I’d share a few things that only really clicked for me after a few years of doing this seriously. 1) One boring setup beats five exciting ones When I started, I wanted to trade everything. Breakouts, reversals, VWAP, news, momentum, all of it. My results were all over the place. The biggest improvement came when I committed to one main setup and traded it repeatedly. Over time, I stopped seeing charts and started seeing behavior. I knew when it worked, when it struggled, and when to stay out entirely. It wasn’t exciting, but it was consistent. Boring tends to pay. 2) Risk management isn’t part of the strategy, it is the strategy Everyone says this, but most people don’t actually practice it. I didn’t either. What changed things was treating risk like a fixed cost of doing business. Same dollar risk per trade. Same max loss per day. No exceptions because something “looked perfect.” Once your downside is capped, your edge actually gets a chance to play out. 3) Most bad trades come from boredom, not bad reads Some of my worst losses had nothing to do with analysis. They came from forcing trades when nothing was setting up. Overtrading is usually emotional, not technical. If you’re clicking just to feel involved, you’re gambling. Learning how to sit on your hands is a real skill, and honestly harder than learning chart patterns. 4) Journal how you felt, not just what you traded Entries, exits, screenshots, all that stuff is useful. What helped me the most was tracking my emotional state. Was I rushed? Trying to make back a loss? Overconfident after a win? Patterns show up fast when you do this. Fixing those emotional leaks improved my PnL without changing a single setup. 5) Consistency comes from routine, not motivation Motivation comes and goes. Routine sticks. Same prep. Same hours. Same rules. I stopped waiting to “feel ready” and just showed up and executed the process. Some days are green, some red, most are forgettable. The goal is to make trading boring enough that emotions stop running the show. If I had to sum it up, trading got easier when I stopped trying to outsmart the market and focused on managing myself instead. If you’re early in this, don’t rush it. Survival is success at the beginning. Stack clean reps, protect your capital, and let time do the heavy lifting. Get disciplined. The money follows. If this posts gets some traction, I’m happy to keep doing write-ups like this as a small education series. If that’s something you’d want to see, feel free to follow. submitted by /u/PromiseMePls to r/Daytrading [link] [comments]

[02/04/2025] Dennis Schröder on the NBA trade deadline: “It’s modern slavery at the end of the day. Everybody can decide where you’re going, even if you have a contract … at the end of the day if they say, ‘You’re not coming to work tomorrow, you’re going over there,’ they can decide that.“
I am interested to hear what Dennis has to say about this year's deadline. Source: https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/dennis-schroder-trade-deadline-modern-slavery/1825751/A “It’s like modern slavery,” Schröder said. “It’s modern slavery at the end of the day. Everybody can decide where you’re going, even if you have a contract. Yeah, of course, we make a lot of money and we can feed our families, but at the end of the day if they say, ‘You’re not coming to work tomorrow, you’re going over there,’ they can decide that. They got to change that a little bit. “But still grateful that we’re here and that we can live this every single day. I think everybody who’s in here is blessed. But if you really think about it, it is kind of crazy that the organization can tell you, ‘We want you to be team-first, but you’re going over there.’ It’s a lot.” The control, as Schröder continued to say, is all in the hands of the owners and organizations. Not every situation works out for a player. The wrong move to the wrong city, the wrong coaching staff and teammates, can change a player’s career. It can change a person’s future and financial situation, Schroder acknowledged. Edited to add full context, was cut out on original post - mods might remove because this is technically a repost? Trading same day expiring contracts using my entire portfolio everyday is giving me a 100% win rate
In the comments of my last post I said it would take me 45 days to hit $60k. It only took me 29 days to hit $70k so I'm way ahead of schedule (these screenshots are from Friday). Just to recap, I trade with my entire portfolio everyday on same day expiring contracts with QQQ. I'm now on a 40 trading day win streak. I go for 4-8% gains and call it a day. I've been trading seriously since 2020 and this is what my trading process has been refined into and now I can move forward with a 100% daily winning rate. Everyone said I'd blow up my account in a week and instead here I am with more wins. TLDR: I was right, you guys were wrong 😮💨🤑 submitted by /u/TheCinemaGod to r/wallstreetbets [link] [comments]

"90 day delay except China" was leaked 1 day before the actual announcement. White House denied it because their insider traders were not positioned yet and they didn't want markets to rise before that. This is the biggest insider trading scheme in history.
https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/1jve86e/tinfoil_hat_alert_looks_like_insiders_got_a_20m/ With this graph, you can clearly see where insider traders positioned their calls before the announcement. They made dozens of billions (if not hundreds) in matter of hours. Government artificially dumped the market and pumped it in matter of days to enrich bunch of people. This is the biggest corruption event in US history but since rule of law is in shambles nobody will actually do anything about it. submitted by /u/Memes_Jack to r/WallStreetbetsELITE [link] [comments]
