I have been riding for almost 4 years now, at all times using a Decathlon bike (currently a Riverside 320), I love my bike and I loved the one before as well but since I never had a proper bike before this 2 so it's kinda hard to compare them to anything else... I would love to know the sub reddit opinion about them, do you think they are good? An upgrade it's worth the money? I didn't know anything about cycling. My first bike was Triban GRVL 120 - for less than 800eur it was more than competent and gotten me into the hobby. It was a lot of bike for the money. When there was a time to upgrade I was very keen to give decathlon another shot. After doing some research though, the decathlons bike offer pales in comparison to brands like Cube. Their bike weren't expensive but far from best value. For similar price you could get a better equipped And better looking cube across the line. Just compare the whole Nuroad line - a night and day difference. Il y a quelques jours, j'ai postulé à une offre d'hôte de caisse/accueil client chez Decathlon. Déjà, le formulaire à remplir depuis leur site est bourré de questions très pointues à tendance philosophico-entrepreneuriale ambiance Linkedin, nécessitant de développer des pavés pour dire à quel point on rêve plus que tout de travailler chez Decathlon. Le meilleur vient encore après. Je reçois un mail m'expliquant comment va se dérouler l'entretien si je suis retenu. On explique qu'il s'agit d'un entretien collectif d'une demi-journée, au sein duquel il va bien évidement falloir me démarquer en insistant bien sur le fait qu'il est important d'impressionner. Autrement dit, un concours dans lequel il faut se battre pour obtenir le privilège de décrocher un poste au bas de l'échelle professionnelle où seules les grande-gueules seront sélectionnées. Le lendemain, je reçois un autre mail, plus personnel qui demande : "Afin de mieux comprendre votre profil avant un éventuel entretien, j'aurais besoin de quelques précisions : Pourquoi Decathlon et quel sport pratiquez-vous avec passion ? Pour vous, qu'est-ce qu'un "accueil client réussi" ? Quelle compétence unique apporteriez-vous à l'équipe ? Quel est votre projet professionnel à 10ans ? Sportivement," Et tout çà, pour travailler à la caisse... au smic... !!! Je veux pas rentrer au CNRS, je veux juste payer mon loyer en vendant des lunettes de piscine et des chaussures de rando 5x leur coût de production pour engraisser mon patron. C'est quoi ce délire ? Pourquoi toutes ces questions à la con ? Pourquoi parler de passion ? pourquoi demander d'être soi-même sportif ? (Ah non... passionné de sport pardon ! Même en salle de fitness ils ne demandent pas d'être sportif pour travailler à l'accueil) C'est d'un ridicule. La quintessence de tout ce qui est à gerber dans le monde du travail. Hi all, I’ve been a member of this community and had some really good suggestions and helpful tips. I’ve been using the Decathlon Travel Backpack 500 for over a year and here’s my review. I got this last year (April-May) for a 17-day Europe trip. We did 4-5 countries including Switzerland where is was quite cold. I also travel a lot domestically in India and hate waiting at airports for the check-in bags to arrive. I generally travel once or twice a month for work with days ranging from 2-7. Last month I had a 13 day trip with limited access to laundry (only first 5 days). My strategy is to pack sufficient innerwear and socks to last the entire trip without laundry and at worst case handwash the trousers / shirts. I also pack a small backpack - either this or the Daypack 10L - it fits my 13 inch MacBook, and other day stuff which I can carry while leaving the backpack in the hotel / Airbnb. One has to be careful with the laptop as it lacks any support in these small bags but never dinged my laptop so far. Coming back to the 500, it’s good, sufficient for my usage, has 3 compartments - smaller one for shoes / slippers, the one about it for inners and my small toiletries pouch, and the main compartment for clothes. I used to have packing cubes but realised they occupy more space so no longer use them. Fully loaded the bag weighs around 6-8 kg. The max it went to was 10.3 kg when I had to keep 2X 1 kg Lindt assorted chocolates on the way back from Europe. Adjusting the sternum strap, waist straps takes a while but once you find the optimum adjustment it’s very comfortable. I’ve walked over 4km with this bag. My only grouse is the laptop pocket. I carry my laptop without any cover and while it’s well padded, it lacks supports on the top and bottom, so if you keep the bag vertical, there’s very thin cloth between your laptop and the floor. Also if you carry apple laptops, do keep a small microfibre cloth between the keyboard and the lid and it tends to get pressed. Overall it’s very value for money and fits the overhead bins of all aircraft. Airlines in India tend to have 7kg carryon limit and it’s never really enforced - unless you have a roll-on suitcases. Saves me minimum of 30 mins per flight. It comes with a rain cover and a pocket for waterbottle one one side and a elastic pocket on the other. Back in the day (10+ years ago), I used to do quite a bit of sport and always saw Decathlon gear as cheap and fine for beginners, but not really something you’d use for serious training. Now I’m back into structured training (running, cycling, swimming), and I’ve been looking at Decathlon again and it seems like they’ve improved a lot and are pushing more into performance gear. For running, I usually go with ASICS (especially for shoes), but I’m now also looking at renewing my running apparel (t-shirts, shorts, belts, maybe a vest), and Decathlon looks tempting from a value perspective. So I’m wondering: How does Kiprun/Decathlon running apparel compare to brands like ASICS, Salomon, Hoka, etc.? Is it just “good for the price”, or actually solid performance gear? Any experience with their vests or accessories? I’m curious how close it actually gets to the bigger brands in terms of comfort, durability, and performance. Who are the people working at decathlon? I mean they all seem pretty educated (good private school kinda educated). I mean it's not the kinda staff we normally see in Indian brands. And even if it's a parttime job or internship situation, I don't think (sorry for stereotyping) most Indians would prefer the job title of a salesman.
