RE:Shock absorber sleeve - how to increase diameter?
It worked! New 16mm drill bit, fresh battery in the faithful DeWalt and some lube. Amazingly managed to drill both out to 16mm squarely and without requiring an ambulance. Cooked the drill but it'll live. Feeling enthused after that, figured I'd bolt them on and change the rear springs. That also went suspiciously well.

Circa 2006 cordless Electric DeWalt drill.
I used to work for a shop that had a 10 year retirement policy for all their hand held electric tools. In 2016 they retired this drill and I took it home. Daily use until then and then it became my at home, weekend tool until just this week. Around 20 years is not bad. submitted by /u/EmuPuzzleheaded9896 to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Dr W/ DeWalt Drill Follow-up
Follow up to my last drilling post - somehow on the step right before I jumped off about a 3 foot ledge, a screw, attached itself to the bottom of my shoe. I don’t know how this happened, or how it’s even possible. But when I jumped off of that ledge, the screw must’ve been hanging at just the right angle to where all my weight came down straight onto it, driving it through my shoe and almost all the way through my foot. submitted by /u/Majalos to r/Dewalt [link] [comments]

Fake dewalt drill?
I just purchased a DCD996 off ebay, it was a business seller and supposedly refurbished (they were selling multiples, it appears brand new). However, straight away I noticed the forward/reverse switch was very plasticy, feels like a toy switch. Then I noticed the battery connection has play and the battery is a poor fit. The QR code on the bottom points to a dynamic dewalt page but resolves to the homepage. Any of the numbers don't give any results on the USN. I think I've answered my own question! submitted by /u/chriggy28 to r/Dewalt [link] [comments]

Every year on Prime day and Black friday they raise prices a month or so ahead of those sales so they can say 39% off. in reality $159 for this Dewalt set is 14% higher than the yearly average. Alright y’all what would you say if somebody brought a full tool belt to your job site with only hart products
This post is specifically power tools and Personally, I’m Milwaukee all the way, but through the years I’ve accumulated a lot of hart products like their power drills, circular saws, nail guns. Altogether I probably own like eight hart products and they’re actually pretty decent quality. Still whenever I show up to my job site with my own tools. I’m always rocking Milwaukee. (at least for the power tools) every other handheld non-power tool I always say a tool is a tool and will get the job done. Because I’ve definitely seen hart brand hammers on many job sites or even a simple screwdriver set but I’ve never seen a hart power tool at a job site. Also, I’m assuming you never see them because if you need to borrow someone’s battery They’re most likely gonna have a Milwaukee, dewalt, craftsmen makita, Ryobi. Ya know. Just the known brands. submitted by /u/Classic_Warning_7710 to r/Construction [link] [comments]

I made a Bit Holder for Dewalt Drills that I think looks better than the competition
Hey yall – I made this Dewalt attachment called BITGRIP. It’s a magnetic bit holder that screws into your impacts belt hook, securely stores 6 hex bits and also can throw screws on the side. I worked as an electrician for a while and was always missing my bits when i needed them and it was costing me a lot of time. I didn't like the design of the ones on the market already so I made my own. The magnet’s strong enough to hold everything tight while moving around or when you drop your drill, and it keeps it pretty flush to the drill so it’s not in the way. Its made out of a flexible but ridged material so it wont break if you drop your drill as well. I’ve been using it daily for months and figured other tradespeople or DIYers might find it useful too. Would love your honest feedback – good or bad. Trying to make attachments that are actually helpful, not gimmicky. Also open to suggestions for improvements or attachments you wish existed. I just started selling them on Amazon, Ebay, and Etsy. (You can search up "BITGRIP" on anyone of those platforms if your interested, selling them for $15) Thanks for taking a look. submitted by /u/EquivalentLivid313 to r/Dewalt [link] [comments]

First time making kitchen cabinets. I did the entire kitchen myself for less than half of our original budget.
I replumbed and rewired the water heater to the basement, rewired the stove so it has a recessed outlet, replaced the floor, installed new sink, removed old chimney flu cover, patched a bunch of holes, replaced sheet vinyl over the asbestos linoleum that is covering original douglas fir flooring i was hoping to refinish, built all my cabinets from scratch, purchased and installed new sink, stained and oil-base-polyurethaned butcher block counters, put in a new backsplash, purchased ducted and installed new microwave hood, and added a couple new outlets all for under $3,000. Just 6 or 7 years ago all I had was some crappy folding black and decker screwdriver, not even a drill. My dad got me a dewalt 20v max drill for christmas about 6 years ago and I went from there. I'm not afraid to tackle many projects now. I had a 3 month old at the start and finished right before his 1st birthday. Worked mostly 2 days per week and I don't have a garage, so each day I could work, I had to take all my tools out of my exterior entry basement and work under a tent and tarps to stay dry from the rain. I learned a lot and i absolutely hate making cabinet doors now. submitted by /u/drinkdrinkshoesgone to r/DIY [link] [comments]

DeWalt 985 let out the magic smoke after almost 13 years, what should I replace it with?
I don't really use the hammer function, but I use 3”-4” hole saws and 1" augers all the time. I do have a slew of 20v DeWalt batteries already, but I'm not stuck on any brand. What's the best cordless drill available for heavy use? submitted by /u/sunset_barrelroll to r/Tools [link] [comments]

Is it true Milwaukee is a lot better than Dewalt when it comes to drills and certain tools or are they pretty neck in neck?
My buddy swears it is night and day, I can’t see how the two leading industry brands could be that much different. I’m looking at a brushless 20V drill for weekend warrior use. All of my bits are Dewalt so I’d like to stay on brand. Thx! submitted by /u/The-Loop to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

My wife was forgotten during the business Christmas party.
Some background info: My wife works for a construction company owned by my uncle and dad. They do fairly well, over the last few years the company has averaged 15 to 20 new builds a year. My uncle is the majority owner and, according to my wife, made nearly 10 mil this year alone. My Wife and I lost our house a few years ago in a wild fire so we moved back to my home town and she took this job in early 2019. We live in one of the most expensive counties in California. Her job: As time goes on she has been given more and more responsibilities and now basically runs the entire thing. She schedules everyone and everything, she answers the phones, does pay roll, is the accountant, does all the tax stuff, is the one that does interviews for new hires and is hired to clean the entire office every Saturday. If it needs to be done in the office it’s probably her job. She gets paid $21 an hour but does the work of 3 people and works non stop. We also have a 1 year old at home so we’re constantly stressed with how much both of us need to work just to get by. He boss (my uncle) is a f**king dick. He is constantly demeaning my wife, every time my wife asks for a raise or time off he throws a huge fit and makes her feel like a POS just for asking for a day off. Last night (Dec 23) she had her Christmas party, and she planned the entire thing. There was a venue, catering, decorations and company gifts to give out. All of which she planned for free on her own time because her boss said it was critical. He would call at 9 pm asking if catering was figured out expecting her to answer. Once she was putting our daughter down for bed and ignored one of his calls and he lost his mind the next morning. Back to the party, Her boss gave presents to every employee, all of the general laborers got new dewalt power tools, like drills, impactors and orbital palm sanders. The partners got massive checks and some others got gift cards. Towards the end he gave a big speech in which he addressed everyone individually and gave a little speech talking about why he appreciates them and how great they all are. I was waiting for my wife’s name to come up but it never did, at the end of the speech he says alright that’s everyone and I said what about [wife’s name] and he said oh ya she’s a special employee and ended the speech. My wife Christmas present was the left overs from the catering. I’m not kidding, we got the left overs. At the end of the party my wife approached my uncle and told him she won’t be coming back in January 1st. She is constantly abused in that office and it’s clear he boss doesn’t give a shit about the work she does. She worked non stop this year and might have made 40k, he made almost 250x that this year and gave her the left overs. Edit: To clarify we have talked to him a few times before about his behavior and it has been the highlight of several family fights but we agreed the best thing for now is to just move on and separate him from our life. one more clarification: my dad is a nice guy and wouldn’t say or do thing like that to my wife. It’s my uncle who is the boss and I’m general just sucks. Edit 2: Wow this post really blew up! I won’t be able to respond to everyone but I’ll try to address some things I’m seeing in the comments. My dad is def an enabler, it’s disappointing to me to see that my dad can watch that behavior and not say anything. I’ve addressed it multiple times and still nothing changes. It’s difficult to just confront someone that’s family but multiple times I have confronted my uncle about the way he treats my wife and others in the office, I’ve tried everything short of physically fighting him. 21 an hour may seem high but the median household value in our area is well over 1 mil so her 40k a year barely covers our rent (3k a month) and my income covers everything else. We decided we’re moving next year and I’m confident she will be able to find a great job where ever we end up. Thanks for all the holiday wishes I hope everyone’s Christmas is great! submitted by /u/Objective_Reality232 to r/antiwork [link] [comments]
