Recommendations for gel polish for nail art
I’m looking for a traditional rainbow of colors to do n art. I was using beetles until I saw all the negative reactions so I’m looking for something affordable but still includes a rainbow. All the DnD sets are not it as far as color scheme goes. I just mix colors on a palette and use brushes. I got a few DnD for Christmas so I thought it’d be fun to start doing them for me and my wife. submitted by /u/hanna_bugz to r/Nails [link] [comments]

Suggestions Please - Nail Polish Won’t Stick
Help! I can’t get base coats or gel polish to stick to my nail beds. I do extensive nail prep including cuticles, alcohol wipes / dehydrator, nail buffing. I use thin coats. I cure more than once. I stay away from water afterwards. No matter my process or products, the polish (usually in one piece) comes off within a week. I have a quality lamp (Kiara Sky Beyond Pro Rechargeable LED Lamp Vol. II) I’ve tried multiple types of base coats including: Orly Bonder and Base Coat, Kokoist Mega Stick, several builder bases, several cheaper Amazon alternatives I’ve tried just applying gel polish (using DND, Apres gel, or builder gel) directly to the nail plate with the same results. I do have hypermobility. I’ve head that can effect nail plates. Not asking for medical advice. I don’t seem to have this issue at nail salons though, so feels like it’s my application or products. (Update) Flying out to Hong Kong to collect nail polish
Hello hello~ wanted to give an update to my post about flying to Hong Kong and flying/Checking-in 80 bottles of nail polish for future reference to those whom need it. Flight path: Hong Kong to Malaysia Airline: Batik Air Consolidation company: BuyandShip (DO NOT use this company for nail polishes unless you are in HK. They aren't allowed to ship outside of HK if it's class 3 flammable which is what polishes are. The company was very helpful and supportive. Allowed me to pick up from warehouse in HK) While packaging the polishes, I made sure the boxes/labels had no hazards warning. ie: Flammable Toxic. This is important as if your bag gets checked, it will be confiscated. (Advice from the airline check-in counter) Now this isn't to say you aren't able to keep certain boxes/packaging. I had gotten a couple collections from Korea and of course they were beautiful. A Google Translate of the box/text showed they didn't display any of the hazards warnings. So I just packed it up with the rest of my polishes and it was more convenient to pack. Although, I'm sure you could just take it all out, flat pack the box and pack the polishes individually while keeping the box separately, in your carry on maybe. Based on the LAGs regulations and country local flight laws, I had no issues. Main thing to highlight from Hong Kong at least, it's a 2L limit per person. Just double check the local law from where ever you are. No special packaging was needed, in my case I used most of the original bubble wrap and took removed some of the boxes/packing that had the aforementioned hazard labels. Worth noting, I did line my checked bag with a layer of bubble wrap and made it so if any of them leaked, I wouldn't have ruined my baggage. There is also another Redditor who did something similar, UK to AUS https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/s/eZje4PfwBB Thank you to everyone who commented and shared their experience. Hope this can help someone else in the future. Ps: I mainly got gel polishes, but DND did come work regular polishes. So yes, I was able to take everything back submitted by /u/Inevitable_Loquat956 to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

I consider myself a beginner and I’m just so excited about this design I did and wanted to share!!
I started doing my own nails at home last summer and quickly realized how HARD all of it is, especially doing designs! (Extra especially with my non dominant hand..) BUT THESE ARE SO CUTE AND I’M SO EXCITED!! I know they’re relatively simple for people that do this all the time but I feel like I finally managed to get a cute design without it looking like I did them myself hahaha! Inspo pic included! Constructive criticism is more than welcome! throw it at me! I used IBD hard gel overlay on my natural nails/length, that’s why my nails are a little wonky and my middle finger likes to grow at an angle so I have to over direct when filing to try to make it look straight. I use DND gel polish because they had a 50% off sale last summer and that’s what the salon I used to go to used. 🥰 I had to mix a couple colours to get the pink though since I don’t have a very big collection yet. submitted by /u/kitsunegurl to r/Nails [link] [comments]

Hi all! I use DND Nail gel polish with a uv lamp I did my nails 2 weeks ago and took off the gel yesterday, I drilled the polish then soaked the remaining in acitone/water and now my nails look like this. Question in post
So as you can see there is a bit of "flakyness" on my nails nothing hurts or anything but my question is would you paint them now or wait for them to "heal" for a few weeks before using gel again? Im a bit scared if I paint them now the next time I take the gel off it'll make them worse. Also don't mind my middle finger I cut the corner off of it a few years ago lol submitted by /u/ThiccAsFrick to r/Nails [link] [comments]

Indentations in gel polish: undercured?
So I’m using DND gel nail polish and curing each layer for 99 sec! and I’m able to press dents in the nail. I know the obvious like coats too thick but this is the second time I’ve done this design: thumb has 1 coat of base, 2 of grey (white chalk mixed with black ocean), 1 of white chalk, 1 of top. I did like the thinnest layers I possibly could, no paint on the brush. Where I dented on my pointer has just 1 base, 1 sheer layer (sweet escape), and top. I’m at a loss if this is considered undercured because I just bought the lamp and polishes new from DND after hearing good things and was convinced to switch from beetle. Please tell me is it undercured and what can I try. The layers are extra thin I promise submitted by /u/bunnio1776 to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

tips on getting polish to stick when doing nail art?
I just started doing Gel-X and am struggling a little bit to straighten my lines and do precise nail art because my gel polishes won't 'stick' the right way. If I use too much gel the lines start to expand a little, and if I use too little the colour won't really appear on the nail and I have to go over a single line several times, which makes the line bulky and less neat. I've tried buffing the nail super well and using a matte top-coat but I'm still struggling a little bit. I've also never painted before, so I'm not sure if this is just an issue of having to learn how to work with liquids. Does anyone have any advice on how to get polishes to cooperate more when doing nail art? For reference, I use the following products: - Apres nail tips - Beetles base coat (replacing this soon) - DND base colours, black and white (still have the issue of runniness with these) - Gelish and OPI polishes for colours - Random Shein/Amazon nail art brushes submitted by /u/Economy-Society4913 to r/GelX_Nails [link] [comments]

Gel polish advice needed :)
I would love some help finding an affordable gel polish that might not flare up contact dermatitis. I've been using DND base and top coat, and bettles color polish (I now know to not mix brands). It's odd because I won't react one time, then the next I will. Last week I did my nails and toes and I had a reaction on my nails but not my toes. (Once I got the polish off my the itching was gone after 10 minutes and the redness, and slight swelling was gone within an hour.) I'm not sure what I'm reacting to. I thought about trying a hema-free polish. But I've also went to the nail salon and they've used DND (which from my understanding has hema) and I don't have a reaction and I get gel polish done there. So I guess what I'm asking is help overall. Do we think it was from my mixing brands? Is it the beetles polish because I've recently heard their formula will literally not fully cure. Should I try switching to just DND? I've heard mixed reviews about Aimeili, Madam Glam, Modelones, opinions? Is there any other affordable brand yall have tried and love? I also might be doing application wrong so if anyone has any tips there that would be great as well :) Thank you in advance :) submitted by /u/Severe-Kangaroo3970 to r/gelallergy [link] [comments]

Is my gel polish under cured??
I did a builder gel manicure a couple days ago with black gel polish base, cateye (ombre style), and green jelly over top. Being the way I am and currently obsessed with trying to avoid a gel allergy (it started with me spilling YN protein bond on my hand and freaking out the next day when I learned it contained HEMA because I didn't realize that and it was sitting on my skin for a while), I'm now nervous that my gel (specifically the black) could be undercured and exposing me more. I did 2 layers of black, both as thin as I could, and cured for 120 seconds. This created a solid black surface so I moved on. I did everything else as usual. Fast forward to last night, I was doom scrolling about gel polish and reading about under curing black polish since it's easy to do due to the pigments. If I press on the polish with another nail with any normal pressure, no indent is formed in the polish. HOWEVER If I press extremely hard that it kind of hurts my nail bed, I can get a small indent formed that is only the nail contact (not indenting any extra area around contact). Some of these seem to pretty much go away in at least 5-15 minutes, very slow. I cannot push any polish around, have no bubbling/peeling/dips, and it feels generally very hard. I attached a picture, you can just barely see the dent by the light reflections, they're that I removed one nail since I was nervous and it was all seemed hard throughout, no liquid / goo and all shavings were dust-like. It seems like gel should be somewhat liquidy if not properly cured? Is this my nail itself denting and taking time to recover, or do I need to remove the polish as it risks being under cured?? What gel polishes are recommended for at home nails?
I have been doing my own nails at home using gel IQ nail polish and it’s been working great but i’ve found out that their range of colours is terrible, especially in the shops I usually buy it from. I’m wanting some advice on which brands would be good to do my own nails, which are affordable but still good quality. I’ve been looking into DND so far but I haven’t heard much about the quality. Can someone recommend some brands that i’m able to order online and would be good for gel X? submitted by /u/Southern-Place1205 to r/Nails [link] [comments]

Nail polish (gel & lacquer)
GEL Polishes: - 6 brand new, unopened DND polishes: DIVA Just Kitten (pink cat eye), 066 French Raspberry, 431 Raspberry, 757 Chili Pepper, 756 Bonfire, 430 Ferrari Red (All but cat eye polish is a duo, so both gel and lacquer) - Beetles rainbow liner set - White liner gel - 5 magnetic gels: sparkly purple, pink/orange, amber, gold (x2) - 1 sheer orange gel - 7 beetles gels in various sheer nude colors LACQUERS: - Olive & June, “Cozy up” - Olive & June, “LD” - Essie, “Angora Cardi” (sorry the bottle leaked a little in storage) - OPI Nail Envy, “Tough Luv” - OPI “Funny Bunny” - OPI “Bubble Bath” Giving away the gels and lacquers separately since gel requires a lamp and can be dangerous if you don’t know how to use it properly! Would love if the gels went to a nail tech or someone interested in becoming one. 💅🏼 Lacquers: I’ll pick someone at random from the first 10 commenters. Gels: the first nail tech or student to respond! Otherwise I’ll pick someone at random from the first 5 commenters Please mention whether you’re interested in the gels or lacquers in your comment. submitted by /u/potatofamily to r/PDXBuyNothing [link] [comments]

Gel x nails with regular polish?
I'm terrible at using gel polish (DND) as I can't get it smooth and makes me nervous of a gel allergy. I want to use the gel glue as I believe it will hold longer than my nail glue. All this being said, could use the clear apres (or other brand tips) and the use regular polish instead of gel? I would use a gel topcoat still (I have both kokoiast and izemi) after it fully dries. Would I have to use builder gel? submitted by /u/Memoirofadolli to r/GelX_Nails [link] [comments]

I have some gel x nails and gel nail polish that I need to donate. Most polishes are dnd or madame glam. The nails are apres in various lengths and shapes. Free to anyone who wants it plus the cost of shipping. I’m about to go through my stuff and form piles but would anyone be interested in pics?

Gel Nail Polish Allergies: A Guide
Can we talk about allergies to gel nail products real quick? So occasionally I see posts about people who have used some gel polish brands and suddenly have itchiness, redness, a rash, and blisters aka contact dermatitis. This is nothing you did wrong. It's a proliferation of cheaper products flooding the market, that are not held to any standard and not required to furnish any material safety data sheets (MSDS/SDS). The chemical most people are allergic to is hydroxyethyl methacrylate or HEMA. Also written as 2-HEMA, this chemical can penetrate the skin and cause contact dermatitis. Every interaction with the chemical after will be worse, and it *does penetrate* nitrile gloves. I’m a gel tech. I can’t speak for monomers, only gels and gel polishes. Sorry! Chemicals: Now you have HEMA/2-HEMA, Di-HEMA trimethylhexyl dicarbamate, Bis-Hema Poly(1,4 Butanediol) 22/Ipdi Copolymer, and sometimes in combination with Di-HEMA you’ll have Isobornyl Methacrylate. 2-HEMA: https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/2-Hydroxyethyl-methacrylate MW: 130.14 Warnings: Irritant Di-HEMA trimethylhexyl dicarbamate: https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/170472 MW: 470.6 Warnings: Irritant, Environmental Hazard Bis-Hema Poly(1,4 Butanediol) 22/Ipdi Copolymer: https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/59609175 MW: 482.6 Warnings: None. Isobornyl Methacrylate (IBOA): https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/904857 MW: 222.32 Warnings: Irritant, Environmental Hazard The idea here is, is that the bigger the molecule, the less likely it will be able to penetrate gloves, or skin, and cause an allergy. Hence, gels with Di-HEMA or Bis-HEMA can be considered “HEMA free.” I will give examples of gels that are HEMA free below. HEMA/2-HEMA in an MSDS will usually be followed with a percentage. The linked image below is a screenshot for the MSDS for DND gel. I could not get an MSDS from DND themselves. I sent an email, and no one responded. I found this via Google instead. DND gel contains between 5-20% of HEMA in its gel polish mixture. If you have an allergy this will 100% cause a flare up. https://www.transdesign.com/content/DND-MSDS.pdf https://imgur.com/QYpLVqf Now, what gel brands have HEMA? What if it doesn’t say HEMA? If an ingredient says "Acrylates Copolymer" you will likely have a reaction. This is a cop out to not have to write HEMA. Also note: for some pro brands, some companies will do different mixes of the same product for different countries. Try to find the one for your country. These brands I know have HEMA: - SOME ibd - SOME Young Nails Protein Bond and Build Pink have HEMA https://youngnails.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Protein-Bond-SDS-Updated.pdf - DND / DND DC MSDS: https://www.transdesign.com/content/DND-MSDS.pdf - iGel Beauty - Akzentz Options, Gel Play, Builders… https://www.vividnails.com.au/pages/sds-safety-data-sheets - OPI OPI’s mixture is 5-40% https://www.opi.com/sites/default/files/gelcolor\_all\_shades\_flammable\_opi-sds-246\_v42\_1.pdf - enailcouture I had an email exchange with them pictured below… https://imgur.com/a/yTRETjK If you label your products as HEMA free, you need to provide an SDS. All Chinese made gel products including but not limited to the following: Beetles (it's not HEMA free!) Makartt (their polygel literally says HEMA on it) Venalisa Saviland Rosalind Born Pretty Arte Clavo Beautilux (it says HEMA as the second ingredient, but they are honest about it!) And many more. You need to ask for the MSDS. If they refuse to furnish one, STOP. Don’t buy it. Brands that I know DON’T have HEMA: - Light Elegance (SDS are available on their websites) https://www.lightelegance.com/pages/sds - Fuzion (check the SDS for the particular product, but they are transparent) https://www.fuziongel.com/pages/msds Note: Madam Glam claims to be HEMA free, but there’s no SDS available, and then this thread two years ago, where people had allergic reactions. That’s sus. https://www.reddit.com/r/Nailtechs/comments/hos3he/madam_glam_msds/ Now, with said, Light Elegance and Fuzion require a license to purchase directly from them... SOMEWHAT. Skyline and BeautyWest ship Light Elegance w/o a license and tend to have better prices anyways. People have found success entering random numbers on sites that ask for licenses and have been able to place orders. Fuzion has only one US distrubtor, and she requires a license, but Fuzion Canada has shipped to people in the US before w/o a license. Good luck! submitted by /u/OptionalCookie to r/Nailtechs [link] [comments]

I am newer to Reddit but a professional nail technician in Florida. I did this galaxy set this week and I am very proud of them. They are sculpted acrylic with DND gel polish, custom glitter mix and gem stones for comets and stars.

I was feeling spacey 🌟 My manicurist kicks ass! Unsure of the colors as she blended a few but they’re DND gel polishes over hard gel on my natural nails.
