Hello all. This is my first post here Im going to DR for one week during Semana Santa. I have a plan/itineray but still would like to get tips, suggetions and warnings about this country A frined of mine went to a resort and have the time of his life; another friend went by his own and she didn't like it at all Im traveing with my gf My gf (34) and I (37) still like nightlife like bars and places to dance latin music, but we also enjoy to relax like the beach and cultural places like museums. 36yo British guy... I'm heading to the DR on Tuesday, i am well travelled mostly to Asia, but this is my first time to the DR… I'm genuinely excited. Fly into Punta Cana, i've booked an Airbnb there near a beach for a few days, then i aim to head to Santo Domingo and stay in an Airbnb there. I like to go to the gym, swimming , coffee shops and eating in nice restaurants, oh and of course dating some nice women. I've been on Bumble, but i've been disappointed. The Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 used to be a great country to find a wife or serious girlfriend back in the 2000s. However once the early 2010s came along there was a change in Dominican women and the new modern Dominican women. They became more addicted to instagram and social media and they have easier access opportunities to fly to Florida and New York and spread all across the East Coast of the United States due to having family members who help them go over there or crossing the border illegally. Dominican women a large majority of them only care about money and will have a second secret phone and multiple boyfriends while they travel to Sosua or Punta Cana and especially to “La Capital” and be with tourists it does not matter if she works a regular job. So never be a sucker and take a local Dominican women seriously or do long distance Relationships. A lot of them once they come to the USA and pretend they are better than the local Dominican men or American men and ask them to make 100k a year while they travel back to DR for vacation and be with the lowest class of men. Westernization has lowered the quality of dating in Dominican Republic don’t believe the passport bros with there broken Spanish that it’s still a good place to find a serious wife or girlfriend. Pick another destination like South America if you want a latina woman and better successful dating chances. If anyone is thinking of going, just don't. Their police dept is the most incompetent I have ever seen. I was sexually assaulted last night going to the beach in Punta Cana. This girl jumped on top and tried to give me a BJ when I clearly said no many times. She ripped my clothes off and there were two of her friends and two cops walking around in the background, not the Politur but the cops that are on the beach. They refused to do anything. She grabbed my phone and held it ransom until I got money out of 30,000 pesos to pay her. She screamed profanities at me. She was also pregnant saying she needed to feed her baby ( very broken English and yelling the whole time) !!!!! I told them translating on the app I didn't have that kind of money. The policia is what his shirt said was working with her bc he refused to do anything. He made me walk with him for miles to an ATM to get money to pay her which he said he dropped it down to 25,000 pesos. He put the money in his pocket and when we got back, he actually made her give me my phone back but high-5d her and then told me to leave. I went to the Police station in Punta Cana which no one speaks English. They made a report, got my age wrong even from reading it on my driver's license, said on the report I was meeting up with someone I knew when I clearly said I had never seen her before. She followed me to the beach and jumped on top of me. Many of you from the DR will probably think I'm lying and that's your opinion but I am absolutely telling American tourists to just stay away. They are extremely aggressive in everything.....driving, wanting to give you rides and making sure they get money out of you for sexual assault that THEY perpetrated and it's your word against theirs. They are completely corrupt down there on the beach. Like I said, the actual police station "politur" had a bunch of "cops" standing around, laughing and talking to each other and when I told them what happened, they say....what do you want us to do? Seriously? How useless and incompetent can you be for a "police dept"? I had to keep translating everything on the app. Before you say there was a miscommunication issue, there wasn't. I sent it to my friend who speaks perfect spanish and she told me it was correct. It took them over 5 hours just to make a report. They are a poverty 3rd world country, and they do not care about Americans. If you've been there and nothing happened, great!
