RE:Metal Cabinets vintage or homemade and no name toolboxes. got any to show please do
I have always wanted one or two of the 41-C-15 cabinets. It would take hours to Tetris one into my garage, so it would have to be in near mint condition and cheap for me to make that kind of effort… I wonder how well they would work as bench top drill press stands. They would have lots of storage for everything that you would use with the drill press.

RE:You too can be a gunsmith!
Mr.Gadget said: Why not just drill the wild ontop of the pin the twist off? I don’t have a drill press, so clamping and using a saw, after a quick scoring with cutting disk, seemed less likely to slip and screw up the barrel. Took me all of 5 minutes.

Regrets on ditching your drill press for a drill guide
I have a 16” floor drill press (thanks Craigslist), but a small shop. I only use the press a few times a year, and I’m just wondering if others who’ve ditched their drill press for a drill guide have any regrets. I’ll likely forbid its use for 6 months before pulling the trigger but am happy to learn from the regrets of others. submitted by /u/Hot-Expression6017 to r/woodworking [link] [comments]

Drill press recommendation
I'm thinking I'd like to have a drill press, and was wondering what might be a good choice. I'm just a beginner hobbyist working out of my garage so bench top or mobile would be best. I'm a big user of Facebook Marketplace, and am not afraid to buy used. Gotten a lot of good tools there. I don't feel the need for high end, but I do want dependable and accurate enough. Thoughts? submitted by /u/Ok_Struggle_8411 to r/BeginnerWoodWorking [link] [comments]

12 inch bench top vs 17 inch Bauer drill press
Im a home hobbyist and with the upcoming 20% off any item coming this weekend, I'm considering adding a drill press to my shop for mainly wood drilling. I very rarely drill anything metal. For those with experience with either or of these tools, what do you think? Space isn't unlimited, but i could certainly accommodate the footprint of either of these presses. I just don't want to buy the 12 and wish I'd bought the 17 in a year. But I don't want to buy the 17 if the 12 will get the job done either. Main uses will be in drilling for dow rod joinery, forstner bits and maybe the occasional mortise. submitted by /u/Hillbillythegreat78 to r/harborfreight [link] [comments]

How many people use a drill press regularly?
Some context: I’ve been woodworking for years. I bought a free-standing drill press about a decade ago at a woodshop closing sale and it sat in my parents basement for a decade unused. When I moved out I acquired a tabletop drill press but found it wasn’t any stronger than my power drill for my purposes, and the drill bit could still flex so it wasn’t great for accuracy. So over the years I’ve done pretty well using just a hand drill. I understand drill presses can help With repetitive drilling for patterns and consistency, but honestly, with hand tool woodworking and pine that hasn’t been a huge problem. I’m debating selling mine. Would I be dumb to do that? Should I utilize it more? I was thinking it might be good for chairmaking as I can drill more consistent angles for the legs. When I drill angles by hand it’s not consistent. submitted by /u/newEnglander17 to r/woodworking [link] [comments]

Is this drill press worth saving?
My grandpa passed last fall and left me all his tools, this sucker weights a lot, I don’t have storage but can figure it out if it’s worth keeping. My current place doesn’t have a garage but I plan to have a workshop in the future. Trying to weigh out if it’s worth it to keep, I don’t have any emotional attachment to it. Just wondering if anyone recognizes it as a good press. submitted by /u/OceanGoingSasquatch to r/Tools [link] [comments]

Drill press or drill guide?
Hey all, looking for some advice on a tool purchase, debating between a drill press and a hand drill guide. I only want either to help make my pilot holes square to the work, something I struggle with free-hand. I don't need anything to handle crazy high volume or wood sizes, just something easy to use that makes clean, repeatable holes in wood. I have a hard time identifying what I'd need in a $1200 JET drill press vs a $100 WEN drill press. Other than ability to drill metal, they all seem pretty good even for woodworking? Drill guides seem to vary a lot in price too - what's the difference between the $35 Milescraft and the $320 Woodpecker or Rockler? All look same to me. If I buy one over the other, what I'm I going to miss about the other? Thank you - submitted by /u/orangeisthenewblyat to r/woodworking [link] [comments]
