First dyson, which vacuum is actually worth the price?
Hi, We're looking to buy a (used) Dyson but there are so many options. According to you, which vaccum is really worth it? We're planning on spending around 200$ for it as it's gonna be used one. Thank you! I've also thought about shark ninja but I'm not sure the quality/longevity is here. We live in a appartment (planning on moving to a house in the next 2 years) and have a cat. A few carpets around our place but not to much. submitted by /u/Gustavelecat to r/dyson [link] [comments]

Dyson in 2026? Worth buying?

Goodbye Forever Dyson!!!
I have been a loyal Dyson owner for 27 years. The last Dyson I bought was an $1,100 V15. After 2.5 years it stopped working. I went to the Vancouver Dyson store and they said the only way to fix this would be to get a new one. They gave me a number to call to see if I could get a 5% discount on a new one. I found this upsetting. Luckily I purchased this Dyson from Costco. I took the vacuum in and they gave me a full refund! Great. I then went to buy a new Dyson with the comfort of Costco giving such good warranty coverage. The issue is that Costco no longer carried the V15. They only had an entry level cordless Dyson. The Dyson store had the V15 but I was not going to take the risk with them in case the Vacuum died soon after warranty. Costco had a top of the line Shark. It was $750 on sale for $500. So for $500 I could get a little, entry level Dyson or a top of the line Shark cordless. I reluctantly went for the Shark. Here is the vacuum: https://www.costco.ca/shark-powerdetect-reveal-clean-and-empty-cordless-stick-vacuum-with-auto-empty-system.product.4000367829.html The Shark is very impressive and comes with a 5 year warranty. Instead of a trigger it has a switch to stay on. It is extremely powerful. It is also self cleaning!! When you put the Shark into its upright stand, a vacuum system built into the base stand vacuums out the vacuum. Totally mind blowing. So the vacuum is always clean and fully charged. There is no charge cable to plug in. Kudos to Costco! I got the use of a Dyson V15 for 2.5 years for free! I will never, ever buy a Dyson again. EDIT: When I went to buy the V15 again it was not in stock and the Costco manager said they were not going to stock it again. Costco now has the V15: https://www.costco.ca/dyson-v15-total-clean-extra-cordless-stick-vacuum.product.4000181075.html Maybe the manager was lying and making stuff up. After seeing the V15 in stock, I called the manager out on this. He said I could exchange the Shark for the V15. This will cost me an additional $560. I have now passed on Dyson and will keep the Shark. I am very happy with it. I do have extra V15 accessories and a battery which tortures me. submitted by /u/GlitteringZebra8482 to r/dyson [link] [comments]

Best Vacuum Cleaner to Buy in 2026? (Price, Suction Power, Filtration)
EDIT: After going through all the comments and doing a bit more research I decided to go with the Dyson Gen5detect. From what I found it seems to hit the sweet spot in terms of performance for the price and it also happens to have a discount rn which made the decision easier. i just went to empty my vacuum into the kitchen trash and the whole bottom flap randomly snapped off sending a massive mountain of dirt and hair all over the floor i literally just finished cleaning. im so unbelievably done and just need a new one right now before i lose my mind because im completely stuck. ive been reading on here and everyone keeps saying to get Miele Complete C3 or SEBO Airbelt K3 or Dyson Gen5detect. but honestly im kinda leaning toward Shark POWERDETECT Upright mostly because my local target has it in stock right down the street and it just looks way less bulky to keep in my closet. right now im upgrading from this duct taped old bagless upright that just spits dust everywhere while im trying to clean up everyday household messes. i have the cash for the top tier stuff but i really dont want to get ripped off by diminishing returns if a mid range model cleans just as well so i really just want to find that perfect sweet spot. my only hard rule is i completely refuse to deal with another plastic dirt bin that poofs a giant cloud of fine allergy dust right back into my face when i dump it out. so now im completely torn between getting one of those giant heavy duty bagged canisters that supposedly run forever and suck up everything or just buying a super convenient lightweight battery stick that i can easily carry aroumd even if it completely dies in a few years. im ready to pull the trigger today so what exact model should i just blindly buy so i can stop stressing about this? submitted by /u/StarryxAce to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Dyson is great, but are there actually good cheaper alternatives?
I know Dyson is kind of the gold standard, and I’m not saying it’s bad. But for everyday cleaning in a small apartment, I honestly don’t understand why you have to spend that much. I tried a much cheaper cordless vacuum and it does exactly what I need lightweight, easy to store, quick cleanups. I bought my first Dyson last year. I will not buy another.
I’ve heard about Dyson, the king of vacuum cleaners, for years now. Maybe I jumped on the bandwagon too late, but now that I own one, I have no idea what the hype is all about. I need a cordless vac because I can’t bend down to plug/unplug or move the cord thanks to spinal issues. Dyson came so highly recommended, it seemed like the obvious choice to get my house clean without the cord. I’ve had nothing but trouble since day one. The ergonomics are a nightmare. The weight is up high so it doesn’t propel itself well. It takes way too much effort to push even on my hard floors. And since the vacuum and exhaust are up near the face, I’m constantly battling allergies for the rest of the day afterwards. I have to keep my house clean because of bad allergies, and the design is a nightmare for avoiding rebreathing allergens that the vacuum is supposed to help eliminate. Furthermore, the plastic is poor quality and stresses too easily under the weight of the vacuum. I had hoped to use the vacuum daily, but because of the poor design issues, I only use it once a week. After less than six months of use, the plastic on the vacuum arm broke today while vacuuming one small low-pile rug. Since it was still under warranty, I contacted Dyson via the chat. I had to talk to someone who couldn’t speak fluent English. I was told that the warranty doesn’t cover accidents or physical damage. There was no “accident”. And how does the warranty not cover damage from normal use, no matter what kind of damage it is? But because they care so much about me as a customer, they will graciously help me place an order to get the new parts. Great, thanks! No thanks. What kind of a company charges this much for a vacuum cleaner and isn’t willing to stand behind their product? I’m not going to pay to buy their OEM replacement parts that will no doubt break in another few months. You could have made a loyal customer with a little more finesse, but instead you misled about your warranty and what it covered and did nothing to reassure me that this isn’t a normal occurrence. I don’t have enough money to keep buying “Cadillac” vacuum cleaners that break after only 20 or so uses. Perhaps I got a lemon, but I’m not interested in spending hundreds of dollars to find out if I get lucky with the next model. I will never buy another Dyson. submitted by /u/Burnt_Out_Sol to r/dyson [link] [comments]

Just Spent 3 Weeks in Egypt. I’m Never Coming Back. Here’s Why.
TL;DR: [Spent 3 weeks in Egypt and experienced nonstop scams, fake fees, aggressive staring, double-charging, fake registration payments, drivers tripling prices, restaurants denying reservations, a USD scam at Saqqara. Writing this on my flight OUT. Egypt is a solid never again for me.] I’ve been in Egypt for 3 long weeks and I’m literally typing this on my flight OUT because I couldn’t wait another second to get away. I don’t know how else to put it but this trip drained my soul like a Dyson vacuum on turbo mode. The chaos started the moment I landed. I paid $15 for “fast immigration,” which apparently translates to stand in the same line as everyone else while random people walk straight through anyway. Then some guy appears out of nowhere demanding another $15 for a “registration fee,” which I’m convinced was created on the spot. Meanwhile, tons of people just walked out without paying anything. The dedication to scamming is honestly Olympic level. And the staring… holy hell. I’m a guy, I don’t scare easily, but the way people stare here is unbelievable. Men, women, whole families just staring at you nonstop like they’re trying to download your data with their eyes. I have never felt so watched and so disrespected at the same time. Then my Saqqara cab driver, who AGREED to 950 EGP, suddenly decides he deserves 3,000 extra for waiting. My guy, you didn’t wait 3,000 years. Obviously I didn’t pay a cent of that nonsense. At the Saqqara ticket counter, the guy says 1525 EGP. Cool. I tap my card. My screen flashes 1525 USD. USD. If I wasn’t paying attention, they would’ve robbed me of $1500 with the confidence of someone ordering a latte. I’ve never seen a scam attempt that bold in my life. One of the restaurants at the Point 90 Mall was just as ridiculous. I had a reservation. Waited an hour. When the time finally came, they straight-up told me, No reservation. Like I hallucinated the whole thing. No apology, nothing. Just shrugged it off like my time was worthless.Traffic? Absolute madness. No rules, no logic, just honking. Endless honking. At this point, I think people here honk for cardio. After 3 weeks of this circus, the scams, the staring, the fake fees, the rude attitudes, the constant pressure for money? I’m done. Completely cooked. I don’t want to stay another minute. This place made me feel like a walking ATM with legs, and if you don’t hand out cash, suddenly you’re the rude one.If you’re thinking about coming to Egypt, don’t. Just don’t. Unless your hobbies include being hustled, stared at, overcharged, and lied to before breakfast.I’ve traveled a lot. I’ve seen chaotic places. But Egypt? Egypt unlocked a brand new category of never again. Anyway, thanks for coming to my TED Talk from seat 17A. I’m going home now to recover mentally. submitted by /u/Old_Ant2264 to r/travel [link] [comments]

DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this)
Hey everyone, just wanted to share my experience with Dyson in case you’re considering buying one of their vacuums. To start, yes, Dyson products are sleek and powerful at first. For the first 11 months I genuinely liked the vacuum. It looked great, worked well, and felt worth the hype. But right around the 11-month mark mine broke. That’s where things really went downhill. Here’s what I wish I knew before buying: The return and replacement process is incredibly slow. It took me almost two months to get a new vacuum. Two months without the product that is marketed as premium. Customer support is unhelpful and extremely slow. Most of my time was spent waiting in chat queues or getting bounced around. No urgency, no real solutions. And most frustrating of all, at every single step I tried to escalate or at least let someone know that things weren’t working as they should. I asked for better support. I flagged delays. I explained how long it had been. But no matter who I spoke to, nobody could actually do anything. There was no way to speed things up, no flexibility, no real help. That’s what really got me. I can understand that sometimes processes are slow. But when you talk to a real person, explain the problem, and they still can’t do anything. that tells me the system is built to be this frustrating. That’s not what I expect from a premium brand. (I have reached out to them even after the experiance to allow them to make it right and still nothing) Also worth noting: you can’t even leave a review on their website. I spent over an hour on support chat just trying to figure this out. Turns out there’s literally no way to leave a product review unless you’re invited to. So the glowing reviews you see? They're curated. That felt deceptive. So yes, Dyson looks nice on the surface, but if you expect your vacuum to last more than a year or want a company that stands behind its products, I’d say proceed with caution. I’m only sharing this because I wish someone had told me before I bought it. submitted by /u/EconomyHovercraft556 to r/VacuumCleaners [link] [comments]

You can fully disassemble and clean a Dyson stick vacuum
I wanted to post a bit of advice based on my recent experience. I've had a Dyson V8 for roughly 5 years. It was amazing when I bought it but over time the suction and the battery got worse and worse. I replaced the filters and the battery. That seemed to breathe a little bit of life into it but the performance and battery life degraded quickly again. Eventually the motor would make a pulsing sound but there was no suction and the battery would rapidly drain. Before giving up on the machine I decided to take the whole thing apart as far as I could take it. It turns out that if you have the right screwdrivers you can fully disassemble the machine. Its a little intimidating but totally doable. Take a bunch of photos if you are worried. Its a cyclone vacuum with many injection molded parts that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. There was a ton of dust and debris build up on all the parts of the cyclone adding air resistance and clogging the machine. I thoroughly washed and dried all the components then re-assembled it. I did this at the end of last year and it has been running like a brand new machine ever since. I seriously haven't had the vacuum work this well since the day I bought it. EDIT: Responding to all the haters here instead of individually. Buy it for life means buy it then have it for life. This doesn't require that the product survives a lifetime without any maintenance and it doesn't mean you have to buy new shit. If you can get an old appliance and repair it then thats way better environmentally and financially then buying new crap, even if that new crap is heavier duty. A big part of the buy it for life mentality should be learning how to repair what you have. submitted by /u/unqualified_redditor to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Use your cordless batteries to replace the crap ones that comes with Dyson vacuums
I like my Dyson vacuum but the batteries are awful (I've tried genuine Dyson and 3rd party replacements - they all fail). Fortunately there are adapters for my DeWalt batteries - I assume teams red and blue as well submitted by /u/MakeBuildCraft to r/Tools [link] [comments]

We got the Dyson vacuum with the green laser and now my life is over.
I hate cleaning but I’m weirdly fixated on vacuuming because watching dirt and hair get sucked up makes me feel like I’m in control of at least one thing in my daily life. It’s my one dopamine rush that actually benefits us because then our floors are clean. So when our old Dyson gave up the ghost after 10 years my husband sprung for the v15 with that green laser that shows every speck of dust, pet hair, you name it. Because of that damn green laser now I know our dog sheds an entire coat with every step he takes. Across 2000 sq ft of hardwood floor in our house. This is my life now. Here I sit impatiently, writing this, as it charges for the next go around. My husband has regrets. submitted by /u/danidoesthereddits to r/adhdwomen [link] [comments]

Found a dyson vacuum in my neighbor’s trash. It worked perfectly fine once I removed the legos that were stuck in it. Oddly enough once I assembled the pieces it resembled a vacuum. WTF? What have I stumbled onto?

TIL that James Dyson, partly supported by his wife's salary as an art teacher, spent five years and made about 5,127 prototypes until the launch of the famous vacuum cleaner that would not lose suction as it picked up dirt.
