The batteries on their own are expensive - it might make more sense to wait for a tool/battery combo sale because it'll probably be cheaper. I bought my EGO mower during a deal that supplied a 6.0ah and it came with an additional 5.0ah from Lowes. I then got the leaf blower from Amazon when they offered a 5.0ah, so now I have 3 batteries.

Ive got both gas and electric leaf blowers. Gas is a backpack style, more than enough air to get the job done but not practical to use on a car. If you have cordless power tools id go with that brands leaf blower. I use ryobi and ego. My leaf blower is ego, more than good enough for the car but not so great for two acres of leaves!

So I've been going back and forth on this for an exceedingly long time and I just need some real world input from people who actually use these things. My situation, corner suburban lot with big trees so fall cleanup is work even with mulching leaves. Also use a blower in the summer for cleaning up after edging, blowing grass and dirt off the driveway and sidewalks. I have an attached garage that gets hot and cold during the different seasons as I’m in a northern climate, and no basement so battery storage and battery safety is a real consideration. Here's my thing, I have a 25 year old Stihl professional trimmer my dad bought new and it runs perfectly. That's kind of set the bar for me on what a tool should be. Had a corded Toro blower a few years back and the switch gave out, which left a bad taste. I love my DeWalt battery tools in the shop though so I'm not anti-battery. I keep coming back to the Stihl BG 86 on the gas side because I already trust the brand and I know it'll last forever if I take care of it like the trimmer. As a side note, I maintain my own tools so the only cost is for parts. On the battery side I keep hear EGO 765 CFM is a good blower, and I've also looked at Greenworks 80V and the Stihl AK line to stay in the Stihl family. My hesitation with battery is degradation over time and replacement cost especially sitting in an unconditioned space, needing multiple batteries for my lot size, and honestly feeling like battery tools are kind of a sealed throwaway unit compared to something you can actually repair and get parts for. For people who made the switch from gas to battery, do you regret it? Anything you wish you knew beforehand? And if you stuck with gas, what made you stay? And if any lawn care pros or landscapers are reading this, would love to know what you’re actually running on your trucks and whether you’d ever recommend battery to a homeowner for heavy seasonal use. What would you do? **Update:** I cannot thank everyone enough for your input and perspectives. After a lot of debating I ended up going with the Stihl BG 86. Based on the specs of the Echo 755-St and the Ego handheld 765 CFM LB7654 it seems to me that this small Ego is just as good, if not better than the Echo. While the Echo boasts slightly faster speed, the Ego seems to push more CFM. I haven't tried either but my common sense is telling me that the specs can't tell the whole story in actuality. I don't have a massive yard, but I do get a ton of leaves in the fall due to a lot of trees in my area. Does anyone have any experience with gas backpack blowers and electric blowers? Looks like the same deal is back, and at least in my area now features a 650 CFM leaf blower with it. Ever since I was young I've always wanted my own landscaping business and when I stumbled on Ego I definitely wanted to have all ego products. Well I just started my business in December 2025 and I have a couple of contracts so I finally told myself I was going to purchase the commercial backpack blower because I finally needed it so the $769 price tag didn't matter. As I got to my local Lowes and inquired about it, come to find out that they were clearanced down to $190. So I bought the remaining 6! I love them and I'm going to keep an eye out for more clearance items. I'm looking to start getting EGO for outdoor tools since all of my cordless tools so far are Dewalt, and I don't have many 60V batteries (and only smaller ones), so I'd need to buy new batteries either way. I mostly want to start with a handheld blower and weedwacker. I've definitely got my eye on the LBX1000, but it seems that it requires a 10Ah battery for maximum performance, and those aren't cheap. Is there a preferred deal to get a battery without paying close to full retail? I can find OEM 5Ah kits with chargers on eBay for under $200, but 10Ah are $450+ for a battery. Currently have an older corded Greenworks 24022 (original item was bought in 2014 and it stated "12-Amp 380-CFM 230-MPH Light-Duty). I want to get my first eGo product and do not want to get something that underwhelms based on what I have now. No buyers remorse basically haha. Now I cannot verify the claims of my current tool and it's probably just fine, but its corded and it's a bit unwieldy when using to dry a car. I do have leaves on a medium sized property but no massive acreages. Current eGo blowes seem to have a much higher CFM but lower MPH so its confusing. I was thinking the 765 but there is a decent deal for the 615 where I am am. I was leaning to the 765 just for the bigger battery and slightly upgraded charger (as well as the more blower power). I have an old 530 CFM leaf blower that I've been using for years but during the fall I have to run it on turbo to move the large amount of leaves that I have which quickly eats the batteries. I own several ego tools including a push mower and have 1-5Ah battery that is on its way out. 2-4Ah batteries and 1-2.5Ah battery. Im torn on which of these packages to buy? The 765 CFM comes with 1-5Ah battery and the 880 CFM comes with 2-4Ah batteries. Would I have better luck with with the larger battery option since I also need it to run my mower? Since I was out and doing some other shopping, I figured I'd stop by my local Lowes and see if they had any clearance items. I saw they had the 800CFM backpack blower on Clearance for $399. From other posts on here, that seemed to be the going clearance price if you could find one. It was their last one and on display so I asked the guy if I could possibly get an additional discount. He said he would have to ask the Manager as well as make sure they had the 2, 6AH batteries and dual charger it comes with in the back. A few minutes later, he came back and told me the Manager has said for him to sell it and to sell it for $150!! I was like, dayyyyuuumm!! It gets even better...he came back with the Dual charger and 2 batteries. He said he could not find the owners manual and could only find 1 of the 6AH batteries, so he gave me 2, 7.5AH batteries instead! I just read an article on Norwalk, but I am guessing it's also coming to a town near you.. From the article.. also the article said by 2026 full ban. "For now, gas-powered leaf blowers will be banned from June 1 to Oct 15 and from Dec 15 to April 1, effective in 2024. Electric leaf blowers will be prohibited during those months unless they are used on impervious surfaces like patios." Here is my take...I have a two acre property with alot of leafs that need cleaning. This was my first fall season in CT, and I purchased the Ego electric leaf blower 7.5amp batteries, the leaf blower is the most powerful electric blower in the market .. the battery runs out to quick, the extra boost button to make the blower go full blast only lasts 10 min.. it was taking way to long to clean the property. I went to the local home depot and got a gas powered echo blower, my god the difference was day and night, I was able to clean my entire property in 2 hrs with ease.. it would have taken me at least a full day to maybe finish 80% if I continued with the electric..
