Best battery operated lawn mowers
Not sure if this is the right group, but, I recently purchased a new home. I haven’t had to mow a yard since I was a teenager (20+ years ago) and I’m out of the loop as far as lawnmower brands go. Anyone know what’s the best bang for your buck? I would want to purchase a battery operated mower. My yard is about an acre. Gas or electric mower?
I need to replace my lawnmower. I have a second generation Dewalt battery powered now and one of the batteries went bad. It runs on two 20V 10 amp hour batteries. I don’t want to replace the battery because I’m not happy with its performance and don’t want to put more money into it. I have a 1/4 acre lot with somewhat think grass. The batteries die before I can finish. I was already thinking about buying a second set but didn’t want to fork over the money for those, I just use some extra tool batteries I have laying around to finish each time, pretty annoying. And it bogs down constantly and shuts off. I was thinking I should go gas but I’m seeing rave reviews on the EGO Power+ and I’m think about sticking with the electric. Are they worth the money? Do they actually perform well? I don’t want to regret buying another battery powered mower. submitted by /u/teeder03 to r/lawnmowers [link] [comments]

Greenworks 80v lawnmower. Treated myself to a new lawn mower and some steaks on my birthday. It's electric and it's awesome!
My old gas mower finally bit the dust after many repairs & years of service. I had borrowed a neighbors battery lawnmower a few years ago and was disappointed with its performance, so I hadn’t considered going electric but my local warehouse had these in stock and I saw online that they had more power than a 140cc gas mower. Comes with a 4Ah and 2Ah battery. I started my yard (2k ish sqft) with a half charged 4Ah and it got through it all no worries. Mulcher works way more efficiently than the old toro, it’s the same physical size but it can actually fill the entire bag before it needs to be emptied. Height adjustment is one button and all 4 wheels lift and lower. Highly recommend these new electric mowers unless you have multiple acres it’s the way to go. Steaks turned out great too! submitted by /u/AdDry6548 to r/Costco [link] [comments]

I was wrong about electric mowers.
Three years ago I bought an EGO and became that guy. Like the main electric defense force for some reason. Arguing in every thread, convinced I was superior and anyone complaining just didn't know how to mow. I convinced all my neighours (im in the northeast) to buy an ego. I called somebody a gas chud Three seasons later: every single cut leaves random blades standing everywhere. Uneven, patchy, stragglers all over the place. I've spent hours reading threads trying to fix it slower, faster, sharper blade, high-lift blade, double-cutting, less off at a time, deck height, more overlap, perfectly dry grass, bagging vs mulching. Always the same result I dismissed the airflow/suction theories for years, I now know its real. Electric decks just don't move air the same way, so grass doesn't stand up before the blade hits it. I have no complaints about my other EGO products The EGO is quiet, low-maintenance, no gas smell, instant start. Love all that. But the actual cut quality? I think it needs a few more years of development. I should've just bought a Honda. Officially resigning from the Electric Mower team And if anyone else secretly feels this way after going electric — you're not alone. I'm aware I'm about to get ripped by the electric squad. What's the best electric lawn mower right now?
Hello everyone, I'm looking to buy an electric lawnmower to keep grass pathways in check. I have a smallish yard, less than 1/4 acre. I hear good things about Greenworks and Ego but not sure which model best suites me? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! Update: After doing a lot of my research, (reading many reddit threads and discussions on other websites) I have created my own list of most recommended electric lawn mower in 2026: EGO Power+ Electric Lawn Mower 56V 21" Greenworks 40V Cordless 16" MZK 40V 16" Electric Lawn Mower . EGO Power+ Electric Lawn Mower 56V 21": A powerful and well-built mower that can easily handle medium to large lawns, with strong cutting performance and solid battery life (around 50–60 minutes). Greenworks 40V Cordless 16": A great budget-friendly option for small yards—lightweight, quiet, and easy to use. However, the smaller deck and lower power mean it’s not ideal for thick grass or larger lawns. MZK 40V 16" Electric Lawn Mower: Very affordable and simple, making it good for light-duty use and quick trims. Build quality and cutting power are fairly basic, so it’s best suited for small, well-maintained lawns only. submitted by /u/Slipryi to r/lawncare [link] [comments]

What’s the best lawn mower?
Finally caved and decided to retire my old clunky push mower that’s been sputtering along for years. Every time I use it I feel like I’m dragging around a shopping cart with a jet engine strapped on. I’ve been looking at gas, electric, and even those battery ones that people say are surprisingly good. But the reviews online are all over the place—some people swear by Honda, others say Ego is the way to go, then someone else says just get a reel mower and call it a day. For context: I’ve got a medium-sized yard, pretty flat, but with a couple of tree roots and weird little dips. I don’t really care if it stripes the lawn like a golf course, I just want something reliable that isn’t a total pain to use or maintain. So, what’s your go-to mower? Anything you’ve bought that you’d actually recommend after a year or two of use? submitted by /u/jeremyl0l to r/homeownerstips [link] [comments]

Store tried to sell me a floor model battery powered lawn mower that was on display outside!
After months of research and saving up, I finally purchased a battery powered lawn mower. I bought it online as there were some great (online only deals) thru the store and my credit card company. I got like an additional 20% off the toal purchase and a free extra battery, which was fantastic because it was a very expensive purchase (at least I considered it very expensive). I proceed to the store to pick it up and they roll out a fully assembled mower with all the battery and other components placed on top in open (more like destroyed boxes). The mower itself was all dinged and scratched and dirty. The additional battery was not in packaging and was dirty, as if it was used/returned. I asked if this was indeed a new mower. The associate got the manager and they said it was new, but it was their floor model that they kept outside for display. Remind you, this is an electric mower. I said, I'm paying big bucks for a new mower, not a display model (supposedly new) that was stored outside when the manual states to not let it get wet or exposed to extreme humid/wet environments (it's all made up of electric circuits etc.) I asked to cancel the order so I could order it from another store (they didn't have any others in stock). They looked at me with confusion saying it was new, what's the problem? I stood my ground and just said I'd like a refund or to cancel the order. They eventually canceled the order. Went out to the parking lot. Reordered it from a different store across town. When I got to the new store they rolled it out in its original box and the new battery in original packaging, jist like it should be. Took a whole afternoon driving back and forth across town, but I eventually got my new mower! submitted by /u/CanisGulo to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

What's your experience like 1+ years with an electric lawn mower?
I'm looking to switch from a gas push mower to an electric self-propelled push mower. Ideally one with a brushless motor. I've got a budget of around $500-600 and my yard is small/medium. What has your experience been? Do you typically get an hour of runtime? Any manufacturer/model recommendations? My concern is, as with any li-ion battery, when they get hot and frequently discharged to a low capacity, the battery cells tend to lose charge capacity faster than say, a li-ion in a drill that gets run down to 25% and then put on a charger. My typical practice with my Milwaukee outdoor power tools (blower and trimmer) is to let the batteries sit overnight after discharging, and then putting them on a charger. Would this practice help with even larger Ah batteries such as those in a electric mower? submitted by /u/fatwench1 to r/homeowners [link] [comments]

TIL the shape of a lawn mowers blade creates lift which forces the grass to stick up, making it much easier to be cut by the next blade
