Samsung Bespoke refrigerator beverage center not working
I'm looking for some insight and advice for a frustrating problem I am having with a Samsung Bespoke refrigerator (model #RF29BB860012AA). The beverage center stopped producing water for both the pitcher and the manual dispenser. When the manual dispenser paddle is pressed, the pump motor can be heard humming, but only a few drops of water emerge. After a great deal of research and troubleshooting, I purchased a replacement beverage center (part #DA97-17399J), which, once installed, worked as expected. Problem solved? Unfortunately, no, as the new/replacement unit only worked for a few weeks before exhibiting the exact same symptoms as the original unit. Some other notes: The symptoms occur with and without the water filter installed. The filter has also been replaced. The ice maker continues to work just fine. Removing the beverage center and letting it sit at room temperature for a while and then reinstalling did not resolve the issue. With the wiring harness connected, but with the water supply hose still disconnected, pressing the manual dispenser paddle results in plenty of water flowing from the main refrigerator. That last point makes me think that the problem is between the supply line from the refrigerator body and the beverage center pump. In the attached photo, I've highlighted the component that I suspect is the culprit, which looks like a solenoid valve. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening, and if there is a solution other than replacing the unit again and hoping the problem doesn't return? Thanks in advance. https://preview.redd.it/jtvf0oza746h1.jpg?width=2777&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdcc9daa93e11eb984e650d69e130b72ee366435 submitted by /u/flippinsweet123 to r/appliancerepair [link] [comments]

Before & After small 122 year-old kitchen
After almost a year, we have a working kitchen again! Our designer created a layout where everything could fit (and not have oven doors banging dishwasher doors, refrigerator doors, etc.). The before pictures are from a 1960s remodel by the previous owners that took this folk Victorian more MCM. The cabinets were cool, but the glass doors were always covered in grease and could only be slid open with two hands and some muscle! 🤣 They also had to place the refrigerator in front of a window. We used a kitchen closet to house the fridge and added a butler’s pantry behind the kitchen for more storage and a beverage area. submitted by /u/Remote-Station4687 to r/kitchenremodel [link] [comments]

Trying to get more fiber. I call it the Shitgria. Thank u.
Apparently doctors have been saying that colon cancer is going to be the biggest problem our generation faces due to lack of fiber so my fiancée has been begging me to actually use this. I didn’t have any flavored drinks that made this appetizing… expect a sangria. Tried it yesterday and loved it, so we’re back again today bb. Let’s just say… the fiber works. God damn. Edit: yall if I get one more comment telling me to just say some veggies or fruits I’ll explode. I eat em. I swear. Also, I drink maybe once a month if that. This sangria was just a fun one-time purchase from a Greek place. On the note of drinking, yes I drink water I got my second 1.5L bottle of the day right next to me. This has turned into insufferable unsolicitedadviceville ova here. God forbid a gal just have some whimsy and good shits. Imma fart on all of your pillows and give you pink eye. 2nd edit: your pillows have been farted on. Sorry, that’s the rule. That’s the goal now. Goodnight, and wish my anus good luck tomorrow morning. submitted by /u/Turtlegrandmacore to r/StupidFood [link] [comments]

FINALLY - It’s 99% Done!
Before ➡️ After 📍Bucks County, PA, US All details provided below! 👇 Do you remember when I was a complete noob and came on here with soo many questions? I basically just had the design pictures and thought I’d be back here much sooner… My goal with this post is to give back to a community that has helped me so much throughout the design and renovation process. And to help you avoid mistakes I made along the way. Before: The original 1995 Toll Brothers kitchen complete with a desk, cheap and dilapidated pickled pink cabinets that were falling off the walls, corian countertops (which honestly were still in perfect shape), a very slippery and shiny tile floor (also in excellent shape for its age), and a dangerous gas range on the island 1” from the edge with no vent to the outside. 😬 After & Details: Renovation: 0/10. It was supposed to take 4-6 weeks. It took 1.5 YEARS (Dec 2024) from when we signed the contract and 7.5 months (Oct 2025) from breaking ground. It turns out we hired conmen for contractors whose idea of communication and project management was nonexistent… Who haven’t shown their face more than a handful of times, ditching their crew with me, who is NOT a kitchen expert, to problem solve on the fly without any safety net. The beverage station (tall wooden furniture-looking piece) may never be finished at this rate because one of the head honchos is the only one who can install pocket doors. There was no movement at all for months until we threatened legal action. They stopped working the day I went into labor at the hospital because we weren’t there to stay on top of them. They made the crew do dangerous things like move our refrigerator with straps, and hoist that gargantuan garden window to install it on one of the coldest days of the year. On top of the stress of the noise and dust, I was heavily pregnant and went into labor 1 month in. 😣 It was a nightmare and added to my traumatic early postpartum experience. Please learn from our mistake: if you choose this kind of shit company, with no designer on staff and no accountability, you’re screwed! We had no leverage. They get 50% of the money up front and got all of it 5 months before finishing the jobs. We do enjoy it now, due to my hard work and choices, and try not to associate my and the crew’s hard work with the owner’s despicable treatment of us. Thank goodness they finally hired a designer to work with me - she is a fairy godmother who stayed true to my wishes for the design, and is someone I’d recommend to anyone! They wouldn’t pay her so it came out of my pocket and I’d happily do it again. Her software was outstanding for visualizing every detail. By the way, the dust? It all comes from the electricians cutting into the drywall to install wafer lights. They were the only crew that didn’t keep our plastic drapes up while they did their work and we learned the hard way just how disruptive dust can be when it settles onto every surface in the entire downstairs. Unfortunately it was avoidable and they just didn’t care enough to help us out and secure some tape. Dog station: 10/10 The dog bowl filler was hard to figure out but we finally went with the following setup that is just far enough out that it doesn’t spill or splash yet won’t poke the dog in the face (she’s tall). The handle is on the other side of the island due to their mis-measuring lol it’s quirky but it works fine. I specifically got the filler and handle separate because I didn’t want the dog or baby having access to the tap and accidentally flooding the kitchen. Index Bath - Folding Spout Faucet in brushed gold. https://indexbath.com/products/folding-spout-basin-faucet-wall-mounted-bathroom-tap-concealed-faucet • Upper Cabinets & Pantries: 8/10 J&K B5 in color Pure (white) - they kinda scratch easily, but they were so inexpensive and they are painted and can be touched up so it doesn’t matter. Soft close works beautifully and they were able to do a custom size hood (NOTE: a 36” hood will not fit a 36” insert!). The tall pantries are cabinets on top, all pull outs on bottom. Basically tripled the amount of storage we used to have. • Lower Cabinets, Island, & Beverage station: 10/10 Cabinet Joint/Conestoga Cabinets, Cherry, Saddle Stain, RutlandMT reverse G-cove/beveled shaker door style Only went with drawers on the bottom except for the kitchen sink cabinet, a couple by the ovens, and on the far side of the island. Obsessed with how easy drawers are compared to cabinets. Cabinet Joint was a Reddit find!! Thanks, everyone! They were a delight to work with from start to finish and we are in love with the cabinets. The cabinets feel substantial and we had zero issues with any missing or damaged pieces, felt like a miracle compared to the debacle that was the renovation process. • Quartzite: 11/10 Onur Marble & Granite, “Calacatta Boheme.” Natural stone will always be worth it for me - I am stunned by its beauty every day. In order to have enough slabs for the project we opted for honed backsplash and dog station, and polished countertops. The honed is reminiscent of marble, and I love cleaning the polished countertops, personal preference. They go great together!! Has movement, depth, and crystallization that we love!! We applied Bulletproof sealer from StoneTech once so far and will be reapplying annually. We also baby it just in case, using trivets and being sure not to leave oil or water rings. • Garden Window: 100/10 Ventana. Not having a screen on the largest pane facing my backyard makes birdwatching and enjoying my garden so easy, a dream come true. 🤩 Plus it fits my husband’s orchid collection, and lets a ton of natural light into the kitchen where it was pretty dark before. • Sink: 11/10 Kohler Whitehaven 36” cast iron farmhouse sink, bought for a steal brand new/open box from Facebook Marketplace. The single bowl size, the offset drain, and the sloped profile with custom grates on bottom is a delight. I’m seriously lucky that I get to be the one to do the dishes. • Floor Tile: 9.5/10 Edward Martin matte porcelain 24x24 in Amani Bronze & Calacatta. I am a fan of tile in kitchens, especially because it doesn’t compete with the wood lower cabinets. Besides how it looks, we get compliments about how soft it feels to walk on and the dog no longer slips on it. Docked 0.5 points because we have a lived-in home, and the white ones show dust and paw prints. • Grout (thin lines): 10/10 Mapei Sahara Beige (5011) perfect match for the Amani Bronze tiles, almost unnoticeable. • New Appliances: 11/10 Signature Kitchen Suite. Couldn’t be happier with all of them!! The microwave is insanely large and easy for both me and my husband to use at 5’2” and 6’. We host pizza parties now and bake the best cookies on our pizza and baking stones from Pampered Chef. Highly recommend the Misen nitrided ‘nonstick’ carbon steel pans for the induction range. Le Crueset pots work on it as well as my Our Place pot. [x] 36” Hood insert (SKSHI3601S). [x] 36” Induction Cooktop (SKSIT3601GE). [x] 30” Speed Oven Wall Oven combo with 5-in-1 Advantium Oven (SKSCV3002S). • Faucet: 9.5/10 Brizo Artesso SmartTouch articulating with finished hose. A splurge and LONG lead times, but so worth it! I liked the look of it but the touch to activate feature and the fact that it keeps the water warm are both surprisingly convenient. Docked 0.5 point because the gold color is a bit odd and shows every water drop and stain. • Hardware: 10/10 the jewelry of the kitchen. TopKnobs (purchased through Wayfair) - Honey Bronze color Kara Knobs, Bar Pulls, and Somerset Cup Pulls ; Rejuvenation Classic Large Cabinet latches in Heritage Brass ; Delta air switch, perfect match for the Brizo faucet because they’re the same company (Amazon) • Pendant Lights: 10/10 Hinkley Oliver Transitional Style w/ etched opal glass in Heritage Brass ; Rejuvenation drum from Marketplace. Will never have a problem with harsh lighting or cleaning/maintenance due to the frosted glass and drum filter. submitted by /u/CommercialPopular626 to r/kitchenremodel [link] [comments]

Refrigerator replaced by short term beverage cooler
Courtyard Vacaville, CA review/alert. I have a bottle of milk that I wanted to put in the refrigerator. I noticed the sign on the “refrigerator” and went to the Front Desk to ask about overnight refrigeration. They advised me that the blue snowflake needs to be pressed every two hours or the “refrigerator” will shut off. If I want overnight refrigeration, I need to bring my item to the front desk, they will put my name and room number on it, they will put it in another refrigerator, and I can come back to the front desk when I want it, and they will get it for me. I went back and checked the hotel listing and although they show a refrigerator among the room photos, there is no refrigerator listed in kitchen - just microwave. While I stay at Courtyards in California routinely for business travel, I will start looking more carefully at the amenities list at each one I am considering, just in case they have replaced their refrigerators with a short term beverage cooler and give that Courtyard a hard pass. submitted by /u/LizGFlynnCA to r/marriott [link] [comments]

How does the ecozy Portable Countertop Ice Maker perform? A detailed review here!
Crafting the review based on your instructions: Testing out the ecozy IM-BS260C Portable Countertop Ice Maker has been a rather interesting journey. As someone who enjoys hosting gatherings and preserving those refreshing iced drinks, having a countertop ice maker sounded like a dream. This particular model boasts a compact design and promises to churn out nine bullet-shaped ice cubes in just six minutes. It’s hard not to get curious about how well it performs or if it lives up to those impressive claims. Design and Build Quality The first thing I noticed right out of the box was its sleek and compact design. Measuring roughly 8.74"D x 11.57"W x 11.42"H, it’s small enough to sit comfortably on most countertops without being intrusive. Weighing only 13.45 pounds, I could easily move it around between my kitchen, home bar, and even to my backyard during a barbecue party. The black finish gives it a modern touch, blending well with other appliances. While it’s sturdy and feels durable, the glossy surface does attract fingerprints, which isn’t a deal breaker but something to note. Ease of Use and Setup Setting up this machine was as straightforward as it could get. After removing all the packaging, I simply filled its 1.2-liter water reservoir, pressed a button, and let it work its magic. The whisper-quiet operation was an unexpected plus—this thing operates at under 35 dB! It’s similar to the sound of a regular refrigerator running. It made hosting dinner parties more pleasant since the ice maker didn’t disrupt conversations or become the background star of the gathering. Adding to its usability, the infrared sensors automatically halt production once the ice storage basket is full, and a helpful reminder pops up when the water level gets too low. Want the ecozy IM-BS260C? Check it out on Amazon now. Performance and Ice Quality The highlight of this portable ice maker is undoubtedly the rapid ice-making feature. True to its promise, it produced nine bullet-shaped ice cubes in just six minutes. I tested this claim during multiple uses, and the timing was consistent. The machine can produce up to 26 pounds of ice per day, which is more than enough for both small family needs and larger parties. What’s more, it offers two ice size options—small cubes for seafood platters and beer cans, and larger cubes ideal for cocktails and soft drinks. Both sizes melted evenly and didn’t water down beverages too quickly, which I appreciated. Special Features This countertop ice maker comes packed with some thoughtful features. The self-cleaning function saved me a lot of time and effort. Pushing a button circulates water through the machine, tackling nooks and crannies where grime and residue tend to accumulate. It’s a feature I particularly valued, especially during hotter months when the ice maker gets more use. The included accessories—ice bags, an ice scoop, and a basket—felt like a nice touch. I often used the bags to transfer unused ice to my refrigerator for later. However, do bear in mind that any ice left in the basket melts if not transferred promptly, as the unit doesn't function as a freezer. Pluses - Sleek, compact design fits well in small spaces. - Rapid production of nine ice cubes every six minutes. - Whisper-quiet operation (under 35 dB). - Self-cleaning function for easy maintenance. - Two cube sizes available for versatile use. Less Favorable Aspects - Glossy surface attracts fingerprints and smudges. - Not a freezer; ice melts if left unused in the basket. - Black design, while modern, may clash with some lighter-toned kitchens. Competitive Options Stacking the ecozy ice maker against other brands, like the Igloo ICEB26HN and the Euhomy IM-01, you’ll notice a few differences. The Igloo model comes in a wide variety of colors, but it’s bulkier and operates slightly noisier than this one. On the other hand, the Euhomy IM-01 presents tough competition with its larger capacity. However, it doesn't offer the handy self-cleaning feature that the ecozy IM-BS260C has, which is a game-changer for lazy cleaners like me. The ecozy machine strikes the perfect balance of quiet efficiency and practical features, which is why it edges out its peers in daily usability, in my opinion. Quality for Price Considering its features, this ice maker feels like a worthy investment for busy homes, small offices, or anyone who loves entertaining guests. Sure, it’s not cheap, but the speed, versatility, and the convenience of having fresh ice anytime definitely justify its price point. Its compact design and reliable functionality leave little room for regret. If you’re looking for a balance between affordability and efficiency, this product checks most boxes. Does the AGLUCKY Nugget Ice Maker Deliver Perfect Pebble Ice? Review Inside!
The AGLUCKY AL-FBM-15NH-GREY ice maker became a game-changer in my kitchen routine over the past few weeks. Testing new appliances can always go one of two ways: you fall in love with added convenience, or you end up regretting the purchase. Luckily, this compact ice machine landed firmly in the former group for me—although not entirely without its quirks. This review is an honest breakdown of my daily experience with it, including the strengths and weaknesses I discovered along the way. Sleek and Portable Design Perfect for Any Space At first glance, I couldn’t help but admire how compact this little marvel actually is. The dimensions, 11.3 x 8.66 x 12.68 inches, allowed me to seamlessly integrate it into my already cluttered countertop setup without sacrificing any major space. Weighing just over 20 pounds and featuring a sturdy carrying handle, repositioning it was truly effortless. Moving it between the kitchen and patio for drinks during backyard gatherings became a breeze. That portability felt like a small luxury. Check AGLUCKY AL-FBM-15NH-GREY price on Amazon. Rapid and Reliable Ice Production This machine churns out chewable nugget ice cubes at impressive speed—just seven minutes for the first batch, which is ridiculously convenient when hosting guests or if you're like me and forget to pre-plan an ice situation. With a daily production capacity of up to 35 pounds, I genuinely never ran out during any event or while topping off my iced coffees throughout the day. The removable basket held more ice than I originally expected, accommodating about 1.5 pounds at once. Exceptional Ice Quality for Chewable Fans Chewable ice was never something I gave much thought to before, but this machine turned me into a convert. The cubes were crunchy yet soft enough on the teeth—ideal for munching if you’re someone who enjoys iced drinks as much for the snackable ice as the beverage. Unlike the hard conventional ice from refrigerators, these melted slower, preserving beverages longer while also being very satisfying to chew on post-drink. Whiskey enthusiasts and summer cocktail aficionados would particularly appreciate the texture and longevity of this ice. Convenient Automated Features and Smart Alerts User-friendly features made operating this ice maker easy even when I wasn’t paying full attention. It stops producing ice when the basket reaches full capacity, and clever indicator lights remind you when it’s time to add more water. My favorite function, though, was the advanced self-cleaning mode. A simple five-second press of the power button activates it; you fill the tank with water and let the machine clean itself. Regular maintenance like this ensured consistent performance and a longer life span for the appliance. Small Downsides That Might Annoy Some People Of course, no product is without its flaws. Fan noise during operation might be a dealbreaker for noise-sensitive households. While not overly loud, it’s noticeable in quiet settings. Due to the compact design, the water tank capacity is limited, which means more frequent refills compared to larger models. The price point felt higher than some comparable machines, though the features somewhat justify it. Rival Brands Worth Considering Ice makers are pretty saturated in the market, but the pebble ice niche is less crowded. Compared to traditional ice makers like the GE Profile Opal, the AGLUCKY AL-FBM-15NH-GREY scores major points for affordability and size. The Opal is flashier and fancier with a higher price tag, while this one is straightforward and gets the job done without extra frills. The AGLUCKY beats out budget-friendly options like Euhomy or Igloo in terms of ice quality and design sophistication, though its noise levels slightly edge out higher-end competition. Ultimately, if you’re after unbeatable portability and chewable ice, this one holds its ground surprisingly well. Quality for Price Balance Considering the range of features—automated settings, a portable form factor, and chewable ice capabilities—the value for money feels fair but might not be a slam-dunk depending on how much you prioritize premium performance. If you're as obsessive about countertop real estate as I am, this perfectly compact design feels worth every penny, though those seeking whisper-quiet operation may not reach the same conclusion. The previous tenant of my new flat left a survival guide. I’m not sure I want to live here anymore.
I moved in with my boyfriend yesterday. We’ve been together for 5 years now and we’re old and wise enough to settle down and finally leave our parents houses. He just turned 24 and I’m 22. He’s the love of my life. His name is Jamie and I couldn’t be happier to be living with him. When we decided to make the leap we spent 2 months looking at flats and houses, we couldn’t afford to buy yet so renting was our only option but the prices were astronomical. For our budget we would have been lucky to get a box room and a stove. Jamie works for a local 24 hour fast food restaurant and I’m training to be a teacher. The early stages of training don’t pay much and I owe a lot in student loans so finances are tough. We had almost given up hope until we found our flat. It was nothing special, but to us it was a palace. A spacious 2 bedroom apartment with views of a city park, a balcony and local conveniences. It was in a tower block in a not so nice area, but neither of us had been wealthy growing up, we weren’t fussy. Just grateful to be together. The advert was sweetened by the deposit free option and open ended tenancy. The landlord was happy to sign a five year contract if we wanted. That sort of thing never happens in the city. We were told that along with no deposit we would also have no inspections, but would be liable to pay for any damage when we ended the tenancy. I’d never heard of anything quite like it. We knew that for our budget and location we weren’t going to get any better. We snapped the place up fast, not even bothering to view it. It felt like our only chance. Move in day rolled around quickly and yesterday we got the keys to our first home together, it was such a strange feeling. The day was chaos, getting our stuff in and up in the lift. We were flat number 42, on the 7th floor. The items we couldn’t get in the lift had to be taken up all the stairs by the removal men. I think they were grateful we weren’t any higher but I still wish we had been able to give them a better tip. In the evening we settled down on our second hand sofa, given to us by a cousin of a friend and watched some tv. We smoked cigarettes on the balcony looking at the park and fell asleep on our mattress on the floor super early because we had no energy to put the bed together yet and Jamie had work at a hideous time of the morning. We slept soundly last night, I felt safe and happy. I don’t think that feeling is coming back any time soon and it’s all due to the note I found this morning. I found it in the kitchen, having a coffee, hours after Jamie had left for his early shift at work. It was in one of the cupboards that were fixed to the wall, there were a bunch of useful items from the previous tenant. Spare keys to the flat, a set of tiny keys that locked and unlocked the windows (necessary for those with kids this high up), spare smoke alarm batteries and a folded up piece of paper. The note was handwritten with “New occupier of flat 42” in beautiful cursive on the blank side. I opened it up and sat down to read. I can’t really describe it to you, so I’m going to copy it out below. Dear New Occupier, Firstly, welcome to your new home. I lived here before you for 35 years with my husband. Unfortunately he had an incident at home recently that I’d rather not discuss that claimed his life. My sister has now decided I can’t keep up with the demands of the property and has insisted that I move in with her and her husband. I was reluctant at first, but the stairs do kill me at my age and without Bernie it’s filled with sadness. Anyway. When you’ve lived somewhere for as long as I have it feels like a person that you know. You understand it’s personality and what makes it tick. I thought it was probably pertinent that I impart some of that knowledge on you. It’s a wonderful home, honestly, I have lived through best and worst years and leaving it behind is very emotional but if you are to survive and get the best out of it then there are some steps you need to follow. 1. The landlord will never bother you, he doesn’t visit, call or communicate in any way. But make sure to pay your rent in a timely fashion always. I have only dealt with him once in 35 years and let’s just say I never missed another rent day. Any repairs required you speak to the agent you rented the place with. 2. DO NOT use the communal lift between 1.11 and 3.33 am. Just don’t do it. This step is vital if you are to have a happy life here. It really is life or death. Don’t do it. This has cost me and many others in the building greatly and I would rather not elaborate on why you shouldn’t do this. Just please don’t do it. I cannot stress this enough. 3. When you hear the strange animal noises coming from flat 48 don’t question it, Mr Prentice lives there and he’s a lovely chap. Don’t be afraid to say hello to him in the corridor or on the stairs (he’s old school, so he never risks the lift) but whatever you do, don’t check on him when you hear the noises. You’ll know when you hear them. 4. If you ever come across a window cleaner on the balcony ignore him. He may seem like the nicest fellow you’ve ever had trying to sell you something at the door but it really is best that you don’t engage. He will go away if you ignore him. But he tries pretty hard the first few times so you’ll need some resilience. Whatever you do, don’t offer him anything. No money, no hot drink. 5. Don’t leave food scraps out. Bin or refrigerate them immediately. If you have small animals, it is imperative that you watch them eat and take away any leftover food immediately after they are done. This and rule 2 go hand in hand, the things forage all day and seem to really love animal feed. You don’t want them in your flat. I promise. You can leave what you want out between 1.11 and 3.33am so you may want to feed your pets then. 6. Don’t communicate with any neighbours who claim to come from flats 65-72. These flats suffered a fire in the late 80s that devastated the whole floor, all the residents died in their homes. The building was mostly council owned at the time and they never bothered to renovate the flats. They’ve been empty ever since but every now and again someone will knock at your door claiming to live in one of these flats and ask to borrow some sugar. They will seem entirely average but you must shut and lock the door immediately. I installed two extra security bolts to avoid these fuckers. I don’t like to swear at my age but they really are fuckers. 7. Simple one for you here, keep a weapon in each room. Sometimes you follow all these steps and something still slips through the net. Better to be safe than sorry. 8. The building has a committee that will try and get you to join. It’s one of those neighbours groups about improving living conditions for all residents. It’s a nice group and the lady who runs it - Terri from flat 26- is a fantastic neighbour. By all means get involved. But I wouldn’t recommend babysitting Terri’s 2 children. She’ll ask you, because the poor woman needs a break, but if you accept don’t say I didn’t warn you. 9. Stray hairless cats sometimes roam in the hallway. I know they’re supposedly a special, expensive breed, but they don’t belong to anyone. They’re mostly harmless, but don’t pick them up. Not unless you see one of those neighbours that claims to live in 65-72. Then grab the cat and lock it inside with you. It’ll burn your skin a little but the cats are friendly and I wouldn’t want to see them hurt. 10. There is no way to fix the damp patch on the ceiling in the bedroom. Sometimes it will turn a deep crimson and look quite concerning, but please try not to be alarmed, it doesn’t drip, it doesn’t get any bigger and it’s been there longer than I have. The landlord won’t budge on it, according the the agents. I flagged it many times, even called the police the first night it changed colour, but it was a waste of time and it will be for you too. It’s best to ignore it. 11. You can trust the postman. His name is Ian Flanders and he’s been the postman since before I moved in. He has his own key to the main door and delivers post to the door every morning at 8.54. I can’t include everything here, or it would become a novel but if you have any questions Ian will help you. 12. Finally, the first few weeks are the worst. You’ll feel like you’ve made a mistake, I’m sure reading this you already do, but if you can get through the first few weeks it really is a lovely block to live in. Every property has it quirks and this one is a little extra special, but you can be truly happy here if you just take my advice. I wish you all the best, I really do. Yours truly, Mrs Prudence Hemmings I don’t really know what to think after reading the note. Hopefully it was some sort of joke but the agent had said the previous tenant was an elderly lady and I can’t see anyone named Prudence Hemmings attempting to play practical jokes on someone they’d never met. There were also parts of the note I couldn’t disprove, there was indeed a large damp patch above the bed that me and Jamie had already discussed reporting. No crimson but it definitely existed. I had also commented on a beautiful Sphynx cat roaming the halls as we were moving in. I started to get seriously freaked out. Our dream, our beautiful little home had just become a source of fear and confusion. I checked the time and it was 9.14. Damn it. Out of time to catch postman Ian. When I opened the door to check, sure enough, two letters addressed to a Mrs Hemmings sat on the doorstep. At about 11.15 my worst fears were truly confirmed when a friendly middle aged looking man carrying window cleaning equipment knocked on my balcony door. I ignored him. I didn’t want to take the risk until I’d spoken to Jamie and showed him the note. I’d texted him already to rush home. I felt bad as the man rapped his knuckles against the door for over 10 minutes, but honestly the longer it went on the more I was terrified. My windows were sparkling, and due to our lack of curtains I couldn’t even hide from his gaze. I felt so exposed. He stayed for a total of 30 minutes exactly and never once did he stop looking at me or knocking. He shouted the occasional ultra friendly line or humble request for a beverage in the heat through the door but I did my best to avoid eye contact. When he finally left I looked outside every window in the flat, but I couldn’t see him on any of the other balconies or see any equipment suggesting he was around. He had vanished completely. Jamie still hadn’t text me back, he must have been having a rough shift, it was a Friday and they were always busy. It wasn’t often that he didn’t reply. He was due home in around an hour anyway. I read the note probably hundreds of times over, I tortured myself reading it for the next hour. Desperately waiting for Jamie to come through the door to tell me it was all crazy and I should relax. I hoped for that so much. But Jamie never came. His shift should have finished around midday but by 2pm he still wasn’t home. I panicked, I cried, I left over 100 voice messages on his phone but got nowhere. I finally decided it had been long enough that calling his work wouldn’t embarrass him and his boss told me that he had never turned up for his shift. I thought about it, what could have happened? And then it hit me. Jamie’s shift started at 4am today. He would have left the flat at 3.15 and taken the lift down the stairs. I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried to convince myself it was all just a big joke. Maybe Jamie wrote the note and got his boss in on it. A voice in my head kept telling me that he couldn’t write like that if he tried but I had to attempt to fool myself. It’s getting late and he still isn’t home, what if it’s all true? I think we made a big mistake.
