Exfoliating face wash helps to accelerate the skin's natural renewal process, revealing fresher and healthier skin underneath. This can lead to a more youthful appearance and improved skin texture.

We need to talk about why everyone is power-washing their faces
One thing I’ve noticed over the years of looking at people’s faces and listening to them complain about their skin is that we all have this weird, built-in instinct to punish our skin when it acts up. I’ve lost count of how many times a friend or co-worker has come to me with a bright red, angry face, completely baffled as to why their skin is suddenly “allergic” to everything. They usually start by listing off their routine, and it almost always sounds like a chemistry experiment gone wrong. They’ve got a salicylic acid cleanser, a glycolic acid toner, a heavy-duty retinol, and maybe a physical scrub they throw in twice a week just to make sure they’ve really sanded themselves down to the bone. When I point out that their face looks like it’s been through a wind tunnel, they usually defend the routine. They’ll tell me they have to use all that stuff because they’re breaking out, or because their skin feels dry and flaky, so they obviously need to exfoliate the dead skin away. For a long time, I think we all just accepted this logic. The skincare industry spent the last decade convincing us that if your face isn't tingling, burning, or peeling, the product isn't working. We were basically taught to treat our pores like dirty bathroom grout. But after seeing the exact same pattern play out time and time again, I started realizing that the vast majority of these people weren't dealing with sudden adult acne or random dry spells. They were dealing with the consequences of their own actions. They had completely chemically paved their moisture barrier. The symptoms are almost always identical. They tell me their face feels incredibly tight, like it’s a size too small, yet somehow it’s also greasy. They’re getting these tiny, irritated breakouts that don’t look like normal pimples. And the biggest giveaway: even their boring, unscented moisturizer suddenly stings like fire when they put it on. What’s actually happening is that they’ve scrubbed away the stratum corneum. If you picture your skin like a brick wall, your skin cells are the bricks, and the lipids, mostly ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids, are the mortar holding it all together. When you use harsh exfoliants every single day, you are essentially power-washing the mortar out of the wall. Once the mortar is gone, the water inside your skin immediately evaporates out into the air, and all the bacteria and environmental garbage gets right in. This is usually the part where I have to stage a skincare intervention. The hardest thing in the world is convincing someone who is actively breaking out that they need to stop using acne treatments. They panic. They think if they stop the acids, their face will explode. But I always tell them to take every single active ingredient they own, the vitamin C, the AHA peels, the retinoids, the scrubbing brushes, put them in a box, and shove that box under the sink. When your barrier is compromised, you don't need active ingredients. You need life support. I’ve found that the only way out of this cycle is extreme, boring minimalism. You have to switch to a gentle, non-foaming cleanser that barely feels like it's doing anything. You need to look for ingredients that actually rebuild that missing mortar, which means scanning labels for ceramides, panthenol, colloidal oatmeal, or cica. And then, you have to seal it all in. This is where people get really squeamish, but putting a heavy occlusive layer over your moisturizer, like squalane oil, a thick barrier cream, or even just straight petrolatum, is the only way to stop the water from escaping while the skin tries to repair the wall. You also have to switch to a mineral sunscreen for a while, because the chemical ones will just make an angry, exposed face burn even more. The real kicker is the timeline. People always ask me how long they have to do the boring routine before they can use their expensive glowing serums again. They want it fixed by Friday. I always have to break the bad news that skin operates on its own schedule. If they just mildly overdid it, maybe it takes two to four weeks of babying it to feel normal again. But I’ve seen people who have scorched their barriers so badly that it took three or four solid months of heavy creams and zero exfoliation before the redness completely subsided. It’s just funny to look back on how we all used to treat our skin. We really bought into the idea that we had to destroy our faces to save them. There is something deeply ironic about spending hundreds of dollars on aggressive, medical-grade acids to burn your face off, only to realize that the actual secret to good skin is doing absolutely nothing and going to bed looking like a glazed donut. submitted by /u/Saloniste to r/BeautyGear [link] [comments]

Exfoliating or Regular Face Wash? (Budget Recs Needed)
Normal skin, not sensitive. I get hormonal breakouts around my period and need a hydrating face wash around ₹500. Currently using Plum 1% Salicylic Acid Face Wash. It helped clear acne eventually but didn’t prevent breakouts and my skin feels a bit tight after wash Should I switch to a regular cleanser or another exfoliating one? unpopular opinion: don't wash your face!
24 male here who just finished an 11 month course of accutane. I noticed that when I stopped washing my face with a cleanser at around month 6, my acne actually healed better, the redness decreased and my skin was more calm in general. Accutane already dries out your face and cleansing can irritate and make it worse. I even will go there to say that not washing your face will let you know if your skin is really clear which is beneficial in identifying whether you are actually clear before stopping your course. Sometimes cleansing can mask/heal underlying acne that would be there would you not be using accutane, thus 'helping' the accutane clear your skin which you don't want right? the whole purpose of accutane is to clear your skin without you using any additional skincare. Of course you should wash your face with warm water and I myself used my fingers gently exfoliating my skin when showering, just like a large amount of people do with no acne. I also of course moisturized daily. submitted by /u/AppropriateRow220 to r/Accutane [link] [comments]

Feeling exhausted by all the upkeep of being a well groomed woman
I love the end result of putting time and effort into my appearance and taking care of myself, but it just feels draining a lot of the time. And this is coming from someone who is quite minimal comparatively! Does anyone have tips for making it more enjoyable and less of a chore? I already do things to make it feel like a little ritual like light a candle, take my time, give myself a little massage while moisturizing, putting on music I enjoy.. it sort of helps, sometimes. Here are the things I am doing on a daily or weekly basis- Daily: Hair: Brush, oil, light styling (braids, buns, wetting hair lightly to encourage waves) Face: skincare AM & PM (toner, vit C, retinal, sunscreen, moisturizer), pluck eyebrows and mustache Makeup: CC cream, brow gel, lip tint, cream blush, mascara Teeth: oil pulling, flossing, brushing, tongue scraping, +doing a round of white strips atm Every other day: Longer shower with washing hair, exfoliating, lotion, body oil Nails: file and apply some cuticle oil 1x per week: Scalp and hair mask, shave legs I would ideally like to add heatless curls or styling my hair with more effort, doing my nails, and dyeing my brows but putting more on the plate seems daunting. It’s not like I’m doing fake tanning, extensions and heavy makeup so I don’t know why it feels like so much! Help! submitted by /u/Free_Seaweed_6097 to r/beauty [link] [comments]

Cheap daily face wash & favorite soaps
My go-to cheap face soap has gotten harder to find, and suddenly it seems like there are no cheap kinds of face wash at the supermarket. We're talking $12 for one of those small squeeze bottles! I'm working on a vegetable farm currently, so not too much grease or motor oil, but a nice film of dust and mud every day, especially on my face. I have "nicer" soaps, lotions, exfoliants etc ... But what about a cheap morning-and-night face wash? I'm not a fan of Cetaphil or super gentle soaps, but looking for something refreshing and above all can get in a big bottle!!! Not just looking for product recommendations either, I want to hear y'all's UNHINGED skincare advice, lol. TIA submitted by /u/razzlethemberries to r/BlueCollarWomen [link] [comments]

Takes forever, but gets better. Trust the process.
Now vs. Then (September 2024) I've had oily, acne-prone skin with plenty of hyperpigmentation since I was a teen. But it was mostly hormonal acne, and it was never anything like that second image. That was some kind of infection that I think I got from swimming in very unclean water. At first, I spent like a month using overly harsh cleansers and actives, washing my face too often, not eating in a way that could help my body fight the infection off, not drinking NEARLY enough water for the healing I wanted to achieve, and basically just making everything even worse. Then, when I finally saw a dermatologist, I was initially given doxycyline and clindamycin, but I was NOT making the best of it. I was playing around eating a bunch of dairy still, not putting on sunscreen (and not re-applying often enough when I remembered to), and still using harsh facewash and toners because I thought they would help (spoiler: they did not). So it felt like I just kept applying and applying for like three months and not seeing any sort of improvement. I was literally living my entire life outside with one of those covid masks on every single day because I hated the thought of being seen so much, and yet I still wasn't doing the best for myself. Thankfully, I ran across a youtube video about "things you don't realize are hurting your skin" and actually listened to it properly for once, then did a bunch of research (though I still made mistakes ngl) and changed my habits. This is a list of steps I took (copied from my reply to a different post): I used a clean cotton shirt on top of my pillow case and changed it literally every night because the oil and bacteria leftover plus my hair products were just too much for my skin to fight I tried to drink at least 10 glasses of water with a day, more if I could (like I literally used alarms on my phone to remind me) I used benozyl peroxide 10% face wash every morning (\NOTE* - this was one of the mistakes! Apparently I should've been using it only at night!)* (ask your dermatologist first, sometimes there are combined benozyl peroxide+tretinoin creams you can use instead, but using them as separate products might require only using one in the morning or something, it depends) and only the cerave gentle cleanser at night I bought hydrocolloid bandages and cut them to fit specific parts of my face and used them every day, at home and under a mask when outside, sometimes even changing them two or three times a day (these are the big version of acne patches) I used sunscreen (SPF 50 PA++++, I use a Korean brand called singmulnara/식물나라) daily and reapplied regularly even tho it felt greasy and just un-fun sometimes I cut down my dairy and sugar consumption to as little as my happiness could tolerate I started taking bromelain supplements because they're anti-inflammatory I didn't use any exfoliating actives or physical exfoliation until like eight months in when my skin was a lot better I only moisturized with cerave, sometimes with a drop or two of a niacinimide and cica serum in my hand before I applied it Those are the main steps that made a HUGE change in the initial healing, and after around four months of this, my dermatologist put me onto a low dosage isotretinoin (10mg, twice a day) that did some serious heavy lifting in getting rid of the last of the acne. There were a few times long after the initial "purge" worsening period when I'd just get a huge cyst overnight seemingly, but I was able to go in for steroid injections directly into the pimple that just magicked them away within a few hours (and yes, it was absolutely mind-blowing every single time), or other times I put a tiny bit of the paula's choice benozyl peroxide gel directly onto it as soon as I noticed it forming and that usually made it go away. I just finished with the isotretinoin at the end of January. My current routine: Day: Cleanser: Cerave Gentle Cleanser Toner: ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Toner Serum: I rotate through these - APLB Glutathione Niacinimide, APLB AHA BHA PHA Centella, APLB Kojic Avid and Vitamin C (note: I currently live in Korea so these are more convenient, but when I go back I will be using Medicube serums if I can't get them probably) Moisturizer: Cerave Moisturizing Cream (in the tub) - I use a plastic makeup scoop instead of my hands to get a bit out and drop the serum into it Sunscreen: Singmulnara Light Watery Sun Gel (note: I will probably switch to ROUND LAB when I get back to America, I am fully convinced by Korean skincare at this point) Night: Cleanser: ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil, then Cerave Acne Foaming Wash (10% Benozyl Peroxide) Toner: ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Toner >> I always do a Face Mask at night (yes every night) for 10~15 minutes, just any random one from those bulk face mask packages (like the Dermal ones) with the occasional premium one from Medicube Serum: the same ones I rotate through in the morning, as above Moisturizer: Cerave Moisturizing Cream (with serum mixed in) Random Other Things: I still drink hella water, and I still change my pillowcase frequently (and my towels, I have a separate one only for my face and I never re-use them after I shower, I'm like traumatized or something tbh). I still take the bromelain, but I'm probably gonna stop when this bottle runs out. I take collagen supplements in the morning. Sometimes I smear my whole face with a thin layer of aquaphor at night if I feel dried out for some reason. Also I keep my face masks in the fridge because the freezing cold mask after a hot shower is supposed to be good, and it does make my nose less red for a while. And I use a pimple patch the moment I see even a tiny dot of red anywhere on my face, even if it hasn't even itched yet, because why risk it??? But yeah. This is just to share progress, and to say that it does get better and you can overcome your acne, but it may take some lifestyle changes and it DEFINITELY takes a lot of consistency and actually listening to medical advice. And... A hella long time. submitted by /u/sinkintothesea to r/Blackskincare [link] [comments]

I guess it’s weird to wash your face?
We were talking about skin care during class in fire academy. Talking about if we do routines, shaving products and, what not. I told my classmates how get by. I clean my face 3 times a day. Morning face wash + moisturizer, mid day cleansing wipe + salicylic acid wipe, night face wash + moisturizer. Every 4 days exfoliate. I get really bad razor bumps because I have to shave once every 2 days this has been the only method that really helps imo. One of the guys callled me “fruity” because I clean my face and do my best to prevent razor bumps??? That’s lowkey annoying but yeah. submitted by /u/KellogsandCalcium to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

This sub changed my life!
First of all, you guys are makeup/skincare geniuses and I love each and every one of you who helped me out 🫶🏻 I posted in here a few weeks ago asking for help with foundation as my face would always appear dry and clumpy by the end of the day like in the last pic here, no matter what brand of foundation I used. Turns out my skin type is dry and I was over exfoliating, in addition to using all matte products (this sub also helped me realize matte is out of style now. Apparently I’m just an out of touch millennial lol). So here’s what I changed based on everyone’s advice: I started applying a small amount of aquafor to my face every night, along with weekly hyaluronic acid face mask treatments. I use a wash cloth to wash my face daily instead of a rotating brush, which is a lot gentler. And I started using a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation, along with a mineral powder finish. And that’s it!! No more primers, no more setting sprays even. And my makeup stays looking like this all day long! I don’t even have to use concealer any more. Just tinted moisturizer, powder, blush, brows, mascara, and a little lip tint. Takes about 5-10 minutes out of my morning! Hopefully this post helps someone else who is struggling with a similar issue ☺️ Thank you all again! You’ve seriously changed my life! submitted by /u/Apprehensive-Peas to r/makeuptips [link] [comments]

[Personal] I stopped washing my face every day and my skin has never been healthier.
I (26F) had been a sufferer of “adult acne” for years and I got really into skincare about 5 years ago. It took me a long time to get it “right”, it seems like everything I used made me break out more until I found a pretty solid routine, which I used morning and night. But no matter what I did, I was still getting pimples and breaking out regularly. I was vigilant about my skincare routine, which was a gentle, high moisture routine and I exfoliated once a week. I kept my towels and pillowcases incredibly clean. I tried new products, pimple patches, face masks, no matter what I did I couldn’t get my skin to clear up and my pores to get smaller. I thought, maybe I’m just not wealthy enough to have good skin? Then I got my wisdom teeth removed this July. I wasn’t able to do my usual skincare routine, and I was super stressed about breaking out like crazy!! But…. I didn’t. The pimples went away, even though I was only washing my face every two days or so. Out of stress and curiosity, I stopped doing my routine morning and night. First I only did it in the morning…. But then it gradually shifted to once every 2-3 days when I realized that I wasn’t harming my skin at all. 4 months in to this, I do my usual routine once every 2-3 days. I don’t put anything on my skin between washes, not even sunscreen (yada yada skin cancer, wrinkles, I don’t care). I don’t wear makeup except for special occasions, so my skin is clear and free most of the time. And my face has never been healthier. I barely get pimples at all, like maybe one every week and it’s tiny. The pores that I thought were massive are starting to close up. My skin doesn’t feel overly greasy or dry or tight— it feels nice and healthy. I’m realizing now that the capitalism was doing what it was supposed to— make me buy more products. Like highkey I don’t even trust dermatologists anymore, because they still advertise products and daily skincare routines, which I trusted for years until I made this change. I’m realizing I wasted years of my life, time, and money stressing about my skin for nothing. Less is more. I know this now, and I guess that’s what matters. I hope this helps someone break out of the cycle like I did… truly. submitted by /u/funkylilwillow to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

A washcloth has eliminated my sebaceous cysts.
I have read for years that you shouldn’t really use physical exfoliants on your face and instead use chemical exfoliants. I recently had a mole surgically removed so had to use a cloth to wash my face for the last 6 days and my skin has… never looked better. I had ~4 little white cysts I had been meaning to get lazered off for a month or five but they have suddenly disappeared. Am also on antibiotics for the surgery but I think it was the cloths. Can I… keep using a wash cloth?? I have nobody in real life to tell this boring story to, thanks for listening haha. ***EDIT: what a funny post to have blown up. submitted by /u/rumple_skillskin to r/30PlusSkinCare [link] [comments]

Looking for gritty exfoliating face wash
Title. A face wash that's got the gritty feeling to it. I know about the one from philosophy, but it's a little pricey. I'm open to all brands, but would like drug store/mass brands please! submitted by /u/the_viperess to r/Ulta [link] [comments]

I'm a walking billboard for the importance of washing your face
I'm a beauty/skincare junkie, to the point that I went to cosmetology school and made it my career for 15 years. I keep up on the newest information. I know the importance of washing your face and exfoliating. That being said, today was the first day I showered in eight days. I was so sick I could barely move. I just stayed in my pajamas and slept all that time. Showering and skincare was the last thing on my mind. Today I felt well enough to shower. I gave my face and body a good scrub and holy hell! All that old skin beaded up and it took a long time to get it to stop. I got a good look in the mirror before I went in and my face is all congested. That's not my skin! I have a long road to get it back to normal. Wash your face, kiddies! It's not hype! submitted by /u/lemoncreamcakes to r/beauty [link] [comments]

[Personal] Some ADHD/executive function/depression skincare tips. Mostly about how to not loathe washing your face.
I never had acne growing up, but it hit me at 30 and I hate it. The hardest part for me has been getting into the habit of washing my face. It’s always felt unpleasant from a sensory standpoint, but I’ve made some progress lately, and here’s what’s helped!! Not hating face washing is mostly about managing water Use a lot of washcloths. Like...a luxurious number of washcloths. I often use TWO per session: one to clean/rinse my face, and one to dry my hands at intervals. Since I hang my wet rags to dry on the sink, I often use the one from the night/morning before as my hand drying towel (and use a fresh one for my face obviously) To manage my increased washcloth usage, I keep two cheap ikea bins under my sink: one for clean, one for dirty. This way I don't have to fold anything, just dump the clean washcloths in the bin. I hang the damp ones over the faucet overnight to dry. Another pro tip is to use the used washcloth to wipe down the counter afterward. You can also get those wrist guard things that stop water from running down your arms. I didn’t think they’d matter, but they made a huge difference. I actually wash my face now. I keep two sets so there’s always a dry pair available for morning and night. I use this and the washcloth thing together. Also: if your face wash is inexpensive, get a second one to keep in your shower. Time is fake If you're testing new products, track it. I thought I’d been using a benzoyl peroxide wash for six weeks......it had only been two. Now I mark the start date and add a check-in 4-6 weeks later in my calendar so I don’t give up too early. A timer or bathroom clock helps for wait times between steps too. I want to try and wait ten minutes after my moisturizer before applying sunscreen, or leave a hair mask on for ten minutes, or brush my teeth for two minutes, etc. I like a physical timer that just stays there because it solves the 'oh dang my phone's across the room' problem. If you're rotating actives, write a schedule on a post-it. Make the schedule fixed to an objective marker (“retinol = Wednesday,”) and not a relative one (“retinol every 3 days”). I accidentally over exfoliated once because I can't remember anything at any point ever Random other stuff Use micellar water, not makeup wipes. Keep a cup in the bathroom as a visual cue to drink water. Get clear shelves so you can see your products, they’re easier to use that way. I have two: one for morning, one for night routine. If picking is an issue, throw out your tweezers. Even if you think you'll cave and re-buy them, it's okay to still try. Good luck have fun! submitted by /u/flotsamandjetsand to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

Help deciding between luxury face washes
Thanks for all the help here on my last post, I finally picked out her present and she will love it! On that same post I asked about which was the best luxury face wash and I was recommended the 5 ones below! Only trouble is I was having a hard time deciding between the 5 of them since they all seem to be really good. I’m sure regardless of which one I go with it’ll work very good, but my question is: out of these 5 I was recommended, which luxury face wash do you think is the best? Any help/info is appreciated thank you! Noble panacea cleansing balm- pros: comes in pre measured little packs meaning it’s easier to make it last longer. Is said to moisturize skin very well. Cons: not many reviews on it. Two ingredients in it may irritate skin. $175 La mer renewal oil exfoliator- pros: is a very reputable brand and this specific product has a ton of good reviews about it. Is said to also be very good at moisturizing skin. Cons: $145 and it comes in a small bottle. Cle de peau beaute synactif soap- Pros: is an actual soap bar so it’s easier to make it last longer. Also in addition to being a well known brand it got very good reviews; it also is described as smelling very good. Cons: $100 for a small bar of soap. Also not very many reviews or even the description mention anything about it moisturizing your skin. Cle de peau beaute softening cleansing foam- Pros: comes in a set with other products from the same brand. Also got good reviews. Cons: the set it comes in is $315, it also is a mini sized bottle. La prairie supreme balm cleanser- Pros: is described as being very moisturizing. Got tons of good reviews. Cons: is $185 and comes in a very small container, which appears as if it’ll only last 2-3 weeks. Out of these 5 which one do you think is the best face cleanser on this list? I was very tempted to go with the noble panacea packs but some reviews mentioned they aren’t worth the price and can irritate your skin. I was tempted to get the Cle de peau bar because it seems like it’ll last longer, but I’m not sure if it’s the best cleanser on this list. Thank you again for the help! submitted by /u/DayOlderBread16 to r/SkincareAddictionLux [link] [comments]

[Personal] Washing my face for a full 60 seconds, twice, has completely transformed my skin.
I feel so stupid. An esthetician recommended that I double cleanse with the same cleanser (no oil cleansing necessary) and I remember reading on some IG post that a Korean medspa said most people aren't cleansing their faces properly because we're not leaving the product on our skin long enough for the ingredients to work. So I tried it. Double cleansing with the same cleanser (currently trying Dermatologica Clearing Skin Wash), cleansing for 60 sec each wash, only in the pm. Less than a week later, my pores are cleaner, tighter; my skin is softer overall, and my acne has reduced significantly. I had been relying on AHA/BHA serums for clearing out my pores and exfoliating, but apparently all I needed to do is cleanse my skin properly because I wasn't actually removing dirt/oil, and not letting the ingredients have time to activate on my skin. I feel stupid, but glad I finally figured something out! submitted by /u/tofu_baby_cake to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

AITA for hiding my girlfriend's skincare?
Basically I hid my girlfriend's skincare collection. I was planning on throwing it all away, until she freaked out about it. My girlfriend has had sort of an obsessive hobby with buying skincare since before me, and it's only gotten worse since we started dating (dating about 4 years, we're both 23 now). She picks up extra shifts on the weekend just to afford the newest, most interesting products. At first I was supportive of her hobby, whatever makes her happy I guess. But lately I've been struggling to understand why she buys these things. We have separate bathrooms and in every single drawer is another toner, cleanser, or exfoliant. She's in school to become a dermatologist, but seriously. I don't know anyone IN SCHOOL with this much of a collection. I've tried for months to tell her this isn't healthy and she needs help, but she tells me because she pays the bills in our apartment and for my food and "other hobbies", she's allowed to do whatever she wants with her extra money. But to me it's completely wasteful. She's already gorgeous with incredibly lovely, pillow-soft skin with not a single scar. She literally has the best skin everywhere on her body, it's like she's been fucking airbrushed. This doesn't matter to her though, as she is always having packages show up and new additions to her "collection". Here's where I think I messed up. My girlfriend spends about 12 hours in a double shift at work, and after she left I decided to load all of her skincare in MULTIPLE black trash bags and just put them in my truck. I wasn't going to go crazy and throw them away, I know this stuff is worth 3-4 THOUSAND dollars. Some of this shit is literally in fucking boxes. I just wanted to try to show her she didn't need any of it. When she came home at around 12am exhausted and just wanted to wash her face (she "has to") all of her products were missing, obviously. She immediately came to me in almost hysterics about how everything is gone and she thinks we were robbed. I told her we weren't, and that she doesn't need all this stuff because she's beautiful already. I told her I took it away (didn't say where) because she doesn't need all this garbage. Within seconds her mood changed and she wouldn't even look at me. She took her blankets to the couch and slept there, crying. She was being so dramatic I decided to just get the stuff from my truck. I brought the bags in and dumped them on the floor and she started sobbing. She said some of them were gifts from her father that passed away, and she thought she would never get to see them again (he apparently wasn't good at gift giving but knew this passion of hers? Yeah.) AITA? I literally gave her the stuff back and I don't believe her dad would just suddenly give her gifts, as she's said in the past he struggles with buying gifts. I really don't wanna lose her, I want to marry her. She's the most beautiful woman and kind soul I've ever met. EDIT: Alot of people have been calling a troll because my girlfriend's family has unusual beliefs about how men should stay at home. I don't know how to explain that's how she was raised. Also, the fact I didn't know what a studio apartment was. Jeez, sorry not knowing what apartment styles are is worthy of you all ridiculing my fucking life as a "joke" and "troll". Fuck off. EDIT 2: I see alot of comments claiming my girlfriend has a lot of money so why does she have to work? Newsflash assholes, not everyone spends the money they have. Plus, she isn't in medical school full time (she's doing studies, she does apprenticeships but isn't in a full blown John Hopkins.) EDIT 3: We broke up and she's blocked me on everything. submitted by /u/AITASkin to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

I brushed my teeth and washed my face properly for the first time in a while
I know..yuck...ive always had difficulty keeping my hygiene up bc of mental illness but always managed to “complete” it anyways since I had to go to school and stuff. Now that its all online and i havent really had reason to go outside it got bad. My skin and teeth were really horrible..Again, thats gross, i know i know. I wonder how you’d explain to someone that mental illness makes hygienic tasks harder without them being grossed out? Anyways, today I actually properly brushed my teeth and washed my face. My teeth feel super clean. I used an exfoliator and toner and moisturiser and all that stuff with my face. I got water everywhere but It felt nice. My face is soft now. Even though my room is a dirty mess, I barely got any sleep, and my school work is bad right now at least I did something. I don’t feel completely “awake” if that makes sense but at least I managed to do something today. Thats all :—-) submitted by /u/Theserviceof to r/mentalhealth [link] [comments]
